Two years ago, we visited Rothenburg for the first time, and also at the Silber Kanne. And we were just as enthusiastic again. Despite our short stay, we ate at the Silber Kanne three times. We were always greeted and looked after in a very friendly and warm manner. No matter who served us, the service was excellent. The food was all delicious. Tonight's crowning glory was the half duck, a new addition to the menu. A very cozy, family-run restaurant; you immediately feel at home here. We were here for the first time today, but certainly not the last. The food is freshly cooked and tastes excellent. The service is very friendly and attentive. The trip down this small side street is worth it for anyone looking for a restaurant that's not just interested in quick cash from tourists who never return.

We had just arrived in Rothenburg for a week's vacation and hadn't reserved a table. After two unsuccessful attempts, we received a very friendly welcome and were seated immediately. The staff were very friendly. We received our drinks immediately, and our food arrived fairly quickly. Our meal was excellent; we were completely satisfied. The portions weren't too huge, but not too small either—just right. We had pork skewer and cabbage rolls. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend this restaurant.

Sausage, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes. I was amazed at the authentic German taste. The portion was a little too much for me, but since I ordered on an empty stomach, dessert arrived. Apple pie with a strong cinnamon flavor and ice cream. The pie was eaten with unsweetened cream. This was also a lot for me, but it was incredibly delicious. The two female staff were cute, and the restaurant had a nice, relaxed atmosphere with quiet music playing.

We were looking for a restaurant for lunch and found this cozy beer garden! The meal, a grilled skewer with pork loin, was delicious and plentiful, and the accompanying herb dip was sensational! The service was very friendly and attentive, and the value for money was definitely right! We'd go back anytime.

We would especially like to emphasize the attentive and consistently friendly service – we felt completely at home. A visit here is definitely highly recommended!

The restaurant is located near the old town but on a quiet side street. The portions are large and delicious. There's no children's menu. Unfortunately, we went on a bad day for a young girl who was completely out of control. Regardless, I highly recommend both the place and the food.

Table in the middle of the crowd. Order written incorrectly. Table covered in stains and only wiped after being asked. Small portions for a normal price. At least one of the two waiters was nice, and the place was in a quiet side street.

The food here was excellent and that alone was enough to give a high rating however the service was also great and when the bill came I was again pleasantly surprised. I had the Knusprige Schweinshaxe and my wife had the smoked trout. Delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Let me put it this way: The food was delicious, the fish very fresh, but the service was a bit too demanding. I think the waitresses were a bit unfriendly. When we asked if we could swap potatoes for salad, they immediately replied, "Unfortunately, that's not possible." I find that a bit off-putting. Additionally, card payments aren't possible in a tourist town just because it was a Saturday. Not everyone carries a lot of money. I live in 2025, and I think it's normal for a tourist restaurant to accept card payments for orders over €40.

When we asked, the chef explained that you should pay close attention to the term "homemade" on the menu – a reference more reminiscent of a supermarket than a restaurant advertising traditional German cuisine. At least the chef personally came to the table and started a conversation – that was positive. Nevertheless, the impression remains that more emphasis is placed on efficiency than authenticity. The supposedly homemade sauerkraut was okay, but also not a highlight – and it raises the question of whether the white cabbage was actually fermented in-house or simply cooked from ready-made sauerkraut. I find it particularly unfortunate for foreign guests who want to experience German cuisine here—only to be fobbed off with careless, ready-made products. As a German, I almost have to apologize. The star rating for this restaurant is completely incomprehensible to me.

How nice that there were two seats available for us on a Friday evening: the food (cheese spaetzle and potato dumplings) was generously sized and very tasty. A big compliment to the kitchen and the wait staff, who served us so friendly and attentively.

Halfway through, I ordered drinks and enjoyed them, then it was pointed out to me that you are usually only allowed in if you order food, even though we were sitting in the beer garden behind the house. Then they moved the “reservation signs” from one table to the other several times. But there were enough free tables. In the end only two tables were occupied, ours and another. There's no way the young waitress deserved a tip.

We sat in the back of the beer garden with our dog. It's located on a side street, it's a great place to escape the crowds! Food highly recommended, service also great.

The two of us were there spontaneously and got a table. Super friendly staff! We ordered the goulash and the knuckle and were very enthusiastic about both. An absolute insider tip – simply fantastic! Four of us went to the Zur Silbernen Kanne restaurant and we were all absolutely thrilled. The meal was a real treat - my friends had the lamb skewer and the chicken skewer, both of which were wonderfully seasoned and grilled to perfection. I had the napkin dumplings myself - wonderfully fluffy, perfectly seasoned and simply delicious. My friend had the pork knuckle with dumplings and sauerkraut and was also really impressed - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and with a great sauce. You can simply taste that a lot of things are homemade here with love - the quality of the ingredients and the authentic taste speak for themselves. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and warm - you immediately feel welcome here. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, just right for a nice evening with friends or family.

Unfriendly, unmotivated, failed as a host. We wanted to eat outside in the sun for lunch. We were greeted by a young girl and asked for a table for 2, unfortunately we weren't allowed to sit at any of the free tables in the sun as they are designed for 4 people. All the tables for two were in the shade on the side. When we asked if we could sit down as a couple at one of the sunny tables, we immediately said no and rudely rejected it. Remember, it was already 1:00 p.m., all tables except one were empty, and there was no reservation sign anywhere. I can't say anything about the food, we left again...

Unfortunately, I cannot agree with the quite positive reports. Unfortunately, the cordon blue was quite greasy and still tough, and the fries weren't really tasty either. Even a salad garnish wouldn't have hurt the look. Too expensive for chip shop quality. Maybe the chef didn't have the best day...

The food was tasty but certainly not special. The Schweinehaxe was okay, the Cordon Bleu wasn't even mediocre. There were few people in the restaurant and the kitchen decided to close at 8:00 PM, causing a number of couples who arrived a little later to be sent away. Not worth repeating.

Pork goulash was delicious. Personally, the red cabbage was too chewy for me. The goulash was really very tender, no gristle or excessive fatty edges. Both waiters were on their cell phones behind the counter. I would keep an eye on the customers more often. The furnishings are partly modern, partly rustic. The chairs are nice, but definitely unsuitable for people with wider hips.

A small, quaint restaurant a little away from the hustle and bustle of the old town. With a great ambience and fantastic food. The knuckle practically slipped off the bone on the plate, a dream. The other dishes were also very tasty and can be recommended without reservation. Our child preferred spaetzle with his nuggets, which was also possible without any problems and the host even asked again whether the spaetzle should have sauce or parsley.

A great little restaurant in a nice little side street with a really nice name, I think🥰 Inside it was nice and warm and really cozy decorated for Christmas, the building seemed to have been renovated not too long ago because everything was quite modern and new me. Jazzy music was playing in the background and I immediately felt really comfortable. The landlord greeted us very warmly and was a really nice and likeable older gentleman, the other two waitresses were still quite young and also very friendly and likeable. The food came pretty quickly and people asked about our well-being in between🥰 I ordered the potato pockets filled with cream cheese on a salad bouquet with tartar sauce, plus a shandy and the food and the shandy were very tasty. The potato pockets were really crispy on the outside and the salad was nice and crunchy with a great dressing😋 My friend had the butter spaetzle with goulash and he was also very satisfied, but for him the portion could have been a little larger. The prices were fair👍 The toilets were clean, but somehow it was very cold there😅 A very good restaurant, here you can definitely get good German cuisine in a nice and cozy environment✨

I don t usually put bad reviews, but in this case, this establishment deserves 2*. The attitude of the owner towards me was simply condescendent. He should put signs if he doesn t take credit card payments or we should be obliged to consume food.

This restaurant is located away from the tourist magnets. Home-style meals are served and the portions are generous. The landlord is very attentive and warm. Our children were served straight away and got their food super quickly. It's very comfortable to sit there. We'd love to come back.
