Very good restaurant, upper class Ideal for a candlelight dinner for two on Valentine's Day.

After the waiter told us that two umbrellas no longer opened and that the one shaded spot had been reserved and was closed inside, we realized that he had no desire to make any sales. We then moved on...

A very nice little restaurant. Very nice owner. You can feel very comfortable here. The greetings from the kitchen are very tasty and imaginative. The dishes were well prepared and super tasty. Can only be recommended.

Ich habe mit meinem besten Freund ein paar ansonsten wirklich tolle Tage in Rothenburg verbracht und als vermeintliches Highlight waren wir im Am Platzl. Leider haben wir uns von der hohen Bewertung täuschen lassen und nicht erkannt dass der Großteil der fünf Sterne Bewerter die erste Bewertung abgegeben hat. Lieber Herr Toth: auch wenn wir es erst im Nachgang realisiert haben sollte Sie mal darauf achten, dass Sie nicht in den Bewertungen, die Sie selber für sich schreiben, um die negativen. Bewertungen auszugleichen, die selben gravierenden Rechtschreibfehler wie in ihren Kommentaren zu eben diesen negativen Bewertungen haben. Aber beeindruckend wie hier der Wirt und die Küche (wohl auch alles in Personalunion) gelobt werden.. Schon nach dem Gruß aus der Küche war eigentlich klar wie es weitergeht: ein geschichteter Butterberg zugeschüttete mit Paprikasalz, dieses natürlich hausgemacht….. danach Vorspeisen und Hauptgänge alle mit diesem Salz und Remouladensauce garniert und gewürzt waren. Gemüse verkocht, Fleisch lag mit Brühe (Sauce war das kaum zu nennen) auf dem Teller. Kleiner Tipp: Unbedingt sofort was unterlegen, da meinem Freund die Brühe direkt auf die Hose gelaufen ist. Falls ihr überlegt dorthin zu gehen unbedingt die Kommentare der niedrigen Bewertungen lesen, die sind ehrlich und treffen ins Schwarze….Ach ja und habt Bargeld dabei. Auch wenn es nirgends steht kann man nur mit Bargeld bezahlen. Sehr ungewöhnlich, passt aber und liegt sich nicht am defekten Lesegerät….

The best review I've ever written goes to this restaurant! I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about. There was a very tasty “greeting from the kitchen”, the food looked like it was pictured and tasted excellent! Rarely have I eaten something so good. The prices are justified. Exquisite food in a rustic atmosphere. Plus points: although the landlord has had bad experiences, dogs are still welcome.

This is the classic restaurant that thinks it has a Michelin star for €40 but is just a scammer. A plate full of paprika powder, a sauce, lots of herbs on top and you think you're a chef. A disgrace.

Very tasty food, the price is high but we were really satisfied. You get small recommendations from the kitchen in advance, for us it was a baguette with butter and homemade cream cheese spread, and a delicious cold berry foam soup with a touch of wild garlic salt. My husband had the beef tenderloin and I had the baked chicken. Everything was really tasty and high quality, also beautifully presented on the plate. Thank you!

The boss cooks himself and the food is wonderful. The host is very friendly, gluten-free food was no problem! The greetings from the kitchen were first class, the main course was a dream and the portions were more than enough even for hungry people! Gladly again!

I'm sorry that I cannot leave score zero for this disgusting restaurant. I was late for the reservation and it was my fault clearly, but the man had passed me by several times, so I had waited there for the longtime. And after a long waiting, he came to me and told to me that I was late and reservation has been cancelled already. Since the restaurant was absolutely empty I had a doubt that he is a racist and he intentionally ignored me to let me stand there for the long time, instead of informing properly my reservation has been cancelled. For sure restaurant can reject the late arrival but make the people stand in front of him and ignore the guest intentionally to reject after a long waiting is an unimaginable bad manner. Hopefully, if he wants to be a racist, I recommed him to learn English at least since it is a right global weapon, instead of fumbling the language as a child level and instead of sending a disgusting kiss to an woman guest because of his poor English abaility. Please have a doubt if the review score of this restaurant is an honest one or not, since too many reviews hhad been written by single review writter or less than ten review generators.

Very tasty food, highly recommended!

Make reservations and don’t miss out on this little gem! The Chef was serious, but incredibly talented (and humble). Truly thought he had Michelin type culinary training but he shared his schooling. The thoughtfulness of bringing out flavored butter and bread (and it’s incredible display) plus a “welcome to the kitchen” drink from the chef started off our meal. The meal itself was easily the best we’ve had while in Europe this past month. The Chef’s creativity, presentation, and flavors of all five of our meals were incredible. Highly recommend.

This place is truly incredible! Innovative cuisine, refined tastes and very good combinations create original and tasty dishes. If you are tired of eating the usual 2/3 French-speaking dishes, this is the place for you! You have to book because they have few places, but it's worth it, very friendly staff and abundant dishes. Compliments!

We were welcomed by a very warm and friendly owner/chef. The food was absolutely great. It doesn't matter whether it's the little greeting from the kitchen with a homemade spice mix on butter with bread, the delicious Hungarian cherry soup or our main courses (I've never eaten such a good roast and the homemade potato salad was also very good). The portions are large and the quality, especially of the meat, is very good. We would be happy to come back if we end up in Rothenburg.

We decided on this place because of the good reviews. We were first served a wild garlic soup, which everyone got for free. However, I had previously ordered wild garlic soup before I knew about the free soup. This then meant that I got soup twice and had to wait a full 65 minutes for the main meal, which was an undercooked baked potato. All the food and crockery were smeared in paprika, which did nothing for the dish. Boring experience. Far too expensive.

Wow. Just WOW. Am Platzl is amazing. Food is fabulous, atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly. If you are visiting Rotenburg, find this restaurant (it is not hard to find). The menu may rotate a bit, so only recent reviews may be accurate as to what is available. A family of 6 can expect to spend €180 to €220, but it is well worth it. For tourists: bring euros, as they do not take cards.

Really sweet owner who went out of his way to make us and a few other guests food even though we came after the Kitchen closed. (All restaurants that we could find in Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber had the Kitchen closed at 20.30ish). And even though our little dog played a bit with another dog at the neighbouring table he was very sweet and accepting while he tried to waiter around two playful puppies. Before the meal we got nice bread with paprika butter which was surprisingly good. For main course I had the fried chicken which was really nice and the potatoes with the fermented cucumbers that came with it was a Delicious supplement to the chicken. My girlfriend got a baked potato which she thoroughly enjoyed. Most of the dishes came with what I think is a Holiday Dip. The location itself is very cosy and charming, but how can't it be when located in Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber? Visitering Am Platzl was a experience I enjoyed very much.

We came up from Kempten with friends and tried Am Platzl based on the online recommendations. Wow, was this place fantastic!! The outdoor ambience, the super friendly owner, the surprise appetizer, the delightful service, and the outstanding food just can't be beat!! We will definitely be coming back and introducing our additinal visitors to this little gem in Rothenburg!!

Apart from the beautiful location, a little bit away from the hustle and bustle, the innkeeper was very accommodating and friendly. Since I can't eat gluten, I had fried zucchini instead of bread 😍 how great is that, please!? 🤩 The white wine spritzer was very, very generous and the salad was absolutely great! All in all wonderful! Thanks. I'd love to come back!

We found a “Hidden Gems” in Rothenburg. Chef Achim was busy but he still served us patiently. We showed him the “googled” food pictures we would like to order but he said he changes the menu every 2.5 months. Surprisedly, he served us 2 additional special food items which is not in the menu and they tastes glorious. The steak was awesome and i would love to have it again if i visit next time. Vibe is great and it’s a best spot for relaxing after sightseeing.

From the reception to the farewell, everything was perfect. The preparation and presentation of the food on the plates is simply perfect. Here you can tell that the boss (cook) comes from star restaurants. First of all, bread with (homemade) butter and curry dip. Afterwards greetings from the kitchen. Price/performance very good (with this quality of food, in my opinion, one or two euros more could be charged). Were here for the second time today. Simply everything in perfection. Food again of the best quality and very, very tasty. We'll definitely come more often.

A really delicious restaurant that we visit every time we are in Rothenburg. Small and cozy, a one-man show for kitchen and service, which is impressive as there is always time for a little small talk, but the waiting times never suffer. Super delicious dishes on a small menu, but always with bread in advance and a small greeting from the kitchen. The prices are worth every cent. We will continue to stop at the “Platzl” every time we visit Rothenburg.

Very tasty food, friendly host and good beer - what more could you want. A slightly quieter restaurant outside the city walls with a small but fine menu. Just try it and get involved, it's totally worth it. At first we were the only guests, but the outside area was full by the time we left. We would be happy to come back next time we visit Rothenburg.

This was our second time eating here (the last time was six months ago) and the passion of the chef and owner can still be tasted in his food and his creations! The owner personally entertains the guests and also likes to chat personally, very personable! His food is worth every penny! My fish was cooked to perfection and my partner's lamb was so tender that he forgot it was lamb. The quality of its ingredients is outstanding! We will keep coming back!

Het restaurant ziet er van binnen niet uit. Maar maar maar....... Het eten was werkelijk voortreffelijk en de eigenaar was geweldig aardig en deed alles zelf. Koken, bedienen, opruimen en tussendoor zijn dochter naar bed brengen. Wat een geweldige en heerlijke ervaring. Een aanrader dus. Kwaliteit en kwantiteit prima in orde.

Wonderful food in a beautiful atmosphere. We found this gem by accident, and my family is so glad they did. The food was delicious, every bite was bursting with unique and mouth watering flavors. The complementary starters were unexpected and excellent. My son and my husband has the lamb and I had the vegetables. All of us were very impressed. Service was great and the area was nice and quiet compared to other areas surrounding. I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

As a greeting from the kitchen there was bread with homemade dip and seasoned butter and a fantastic cream of pea soup. Also absolutely within the price range! The hospitality was friendly and attentive. The only drawback: unfortunately you couldn't pay by card :/

We ate here at lunchtime and there were only four of us in the restaurant until the end. The innkeeper did everything himself, served, cooked, cleared away; was also very talkative at times, we found it rather intrusive. The menu is very manageable, but expensive. We decided on lamb, unfortunately we didn't like it. Price performance wasn't right for us.

We were recently in Rothenburg on business, and we stopped to eat in the restaurant "Am Platzl" (7 people). You really have to say, the food is rarely as good in terms of taste and garnish as in this restaurant. It was cooked and served with love. Whether smaller or larger dishes, it must be emphasized that the small dishes were specially prepared upon request at no extra charge. (A huge compliment to the owner for that). You were also served there by the boss, really very friendly and accommodating. What made us a little sorry was that he had to turn away at least 10 people during our stay due to the current situation. There was also a couple who became angry and insulting, even threatening to give us a negative review. It's a shame for such a lack of understanding at this time. We wish the owner continued success. We were passing through to eat here and should have left the restaurant immediately after entering - an unpleasant smell was immediately present and it quickly became apparent that little cleaning was done here. There was a disgusting smell in the toilet despite the window being open, yellow urine stains on the urinals and flies here and there. The food was okay (no more than that), but we couldn't even begin to eat with a clear conscience. Anyone who lets their restaurant deteriorate like this will do the same in the kitchen. In my opinion this is a tourist trap. Send photos and nothing behind them. These countless positive reviews are definitely FAKE! The office urgently needs to stop by here!

Here we still cook with heart and passion. The dishes are really very tasty, you immediately notice that everything is freshly prepared here, a real taste experience, the way the dishes are prepared is like a painting, The price-performance ratio is great. We'd love to come back :)

Beautiful quaint exterior with warm string lights framing the door, food varied fare but all of it perfect in texture and flavor. Pea soup was light and airy unlike any I've had. Never tried pickled herring with beetroot before but it was salty offset by slightly sweet crisp beetroot. Reportedly a traditional German dish. So glad I tried it. Unique takes on international flavors such as curry butter, a southwest spiced butter with walnut garnish. The wine list is small but suitable for the well chosen menu. Ambiance is really quite lovely- candles, preserved walls/ceiling beams. The light was a little bright and the bathroom toilet was not flushing, and the seats were a little hard in the booth for a relaxing meal. Very minor and should not deter from coming. An excellent experience! I left stuffed after two courses and one glass of wine. Bring friends!

식사를 시키면 빵과 수제 버터, 소스, 수프가 무료로 나옵니다. 이 메뉴는 시즌별로 바뀌는 것 같습니다. 식전빵 잘 안 먹는데 버터가 너무 맛있어서 모두 먹어치웠습니다. 메뉴도 종류가 많진 않지만 하나하나 맛있어요. 무료 수프가 나오는 걸 알았다면 메인 디쉬를 하나 더 시켰을 텐데 아쉽네요. 나중에 또 들러서 다른 메뉴도 시도해보고 싶습니다. 주인 아저씨 혼자서 주방과 홀을 보시는 것 같은데 매우 친절하셨습니다. 옆 테이블에 앉은 가족이 어린아이를 데리고 왔는데 계속 말 걸어주시고 돌봐주시고 해서 보면서 기분이 좋았어요.

Hervorzuheben ist die Leidenschaft, mit der bedient aber auch gekocht wird. Die Portionsgröße ist in jeder Hinsicht preislich angemessen und die Qualität der Gerichte übertrifft jede Erwartung. Speziell die stetig wechselnden Gerichte auf der Speisekarte garantieren jedes Mal aufs Neue ein einzigartiges Geschmackserlebnis. Unabhängig von den, auf der Speisekarte aufgeführten Gerichten, werden auf Nachfrage maßgeschneiderte vegetarische Alternativen angeboten. Lediglich die Parkplatzsuche gestaltet sich in den engen Straßen der Innenstadt als sehr herausfordernd. Angelockt von den überragenden Bewertungen sind wir leider irgendwie enttäuscht nach Hause. Ein Tatar ist für mich dann doch roh und nicht gekocht. Eines der beiden fleischigen Hauptgerichte war aus und der Linsensalat unter dem Lammfilet entpuppte sich eher als Linsensuppe, die so gar nicht zum Rest passte. Qualität aller Produkte war nichtsdestotrotz super - nur einfach nichts für uns. Wir würden nicht nochmal vorbeikommen.

Ein kulinarisches Erlebnis in einer gemütlichen Umgebung. Das Essen übertraf alle Erwartungen an Qualität und Geschmack. Die Atmosphäre war total herzlich, fühlte sich direkt wie Zuhause an. Selbst das jüngste Familienmitglied hat das Rote-Beete-Süppchen, den Rehrücken und das Maishähnchen probiert. Großes Lob und ein aufrichtiges Dankeschön! Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal.

Wir haben selten so köstlich und reichlich gegessen. Vor unseren bestellten Vorspeisen bekammen wir noch zwei mal einen Gruß aus der Küche. Und dann der Höhepunkt das Hauptgericht. Das Auge kann hier wirklich mit essen und auch Geschmacklich war es ein Traum. Der Besitzer ist Koch und Service in einer Person. Sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und lustig. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Eine bitte nochmal an alle die das hier lesen. Solltet ihr einen Tisch reservieren lasst euch dort auch blicken. Und falls etwas dazwischen kommt sagt euren Tisch frühzeitig wieder ab. Es wäre nämlich schade wenn man jemand anderes das super Essen verwehren müsste weil angeblich kein Tisch mehr frei ist.....

Excellent restaurant in Rothenburg! After many visits to Rothenburg, we found a restaurant with excellent food & a variation from the typical cuisine... We ordered a soup + 2 dishes but with the Amuse Bouche/ freebies, it was far too much food but so much fun. All delicious & beautifully prepared. Reservation recommended! Enjoy!

Ich möchte behaupten, dass ich nie besser essen war als hier. Zwei großartige Vorspeisen, die aufs Haus gingen. Genauso wie der Schnaps danach. Der von uns bestellte Hauptgang war nicht nur grandios angerichtet, sondern hat auch hervorragend geschmeckt. Das Personal war sehr nett und es ging auch alles sehr schnell (aber nicht zu schnell, genau richtig). Die Portionen sind sehr groß. Wir haben leider nicht alles vom Hauptgang geschafft.

Für dieses Restaurant sollte man 6 Sterne geben! Alles wurde bei weitem übertroffen. Das Personal sehr aufmerksam, höflich und sehr kompetent. Die Küche sensationell…. Zu den Hauptgerichten wurden die Komponenten exzellent gewählt! Dazu sehr große Portionen und das Auge hat definitiv mitgegessen. Jeder Zeit wieder und auf jedenfall empfehlenswert.

Entramos al restaurante motivados por las excelentes reseñas en Google. A pesar de ser un domingo en la hora del almuerzo, nos sorprendió ver que el lugar estaba casi vacío. Al principio, nos sirvieron pan con mantequilla y una deliciosa salsa de curry. Sin embargo, tuvimos un pequeño inconveniente cuando encontramos un cabello en uno de los panes. El plato principal estuvo aceptable, aunque por un precio de 30 euros, esperábamos algo más especial. Lamentablemente, la experiencia se vio empañada por las condiciones del baño, que estaban bastante descuidadas y sucias. No podíamos ni siquiera tirar de la cadena del inodoro. Además, nos tomó por sorpresa que ese día no aceptaran tarjetas, y esto no nos fue comunicado de antemano. En general, basándonos en nuestra experiencia, no recomendaríamos este restaurante.

Increíble restaurante e increíble trato. La comida estaba buenísima, y el camarero que nos atendió era súper agradable. La única pena es que no fuimos capaces de acabarnos toda la comida!!! Os deseamos muchísima suerte en Marbella. Seguro que volveremos a vernos!

Laat je niet afschrikken door je eerste indruk als je het restaurant binnenkomt: het interieur is eerder basic en strookt niet met het verfijnde, voortreffelijke eten dat je geserveerd krijgt. Wij genoten van begin tot eind van het overheerlijke eten. We kregen twee amuses van het huis en daarna nog een royaal hoofdgerecht. Je kan er slechts enkel met cash betalen. Gelukkig is de bankautomaat niet ver weg. Een echte aanrader voor wie Duitse keuken in een modern jasje wenst te ervaren!

Simply a magical place. The menu has a dish for every taste, both for meat-eaters and vegetarians. We had dinner there today and were very pleased. Nice family atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant. I attach photos of vegetarian dishes :-)

You certainly won’t go hungry from this wonderful place ☺️ Before the main course we were treated by two different complements from chef, and the portions were not only huge, but very delicious. I eat meat, my girlfriend is vegetarian, but for both of us great options were proposed. The restaurant is quiet and it allows to have a nice conversation. I would like to separately note that the distance between the tables is sufficient so as not to invade the personal space of other guests and maintain your own, what is quite rare nowadays in Europe. For those who want to spend a quiet evening with a family or a good company and enjoy delicious meal this restaurant is highly recommended!
