McDonald's in Freiburg im Breisgau

We just wanted a hot chocolate. November 30, 2025. The employee at the café: 1. Rude. 2. Incomprehensible. 3. His clothes smelled unpleasant from a distance. 4. He didn't even thank us after we bought it. 5. Incredibly slow. Is it really so bad that they can't afford to pay normal employees?

There's no display… Otherwise stable.

The food was quite good, but my Happy Metal didn't have any toys or sauce.

Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time to order. The table was very dirty, and after we asked the lady to clean it, she simply wiped everything onto the bench...

In a Christmas atmosphere, they don't serve beer; in other countries like Spain they do.

I went to the toilet and wanted to close the door so no one outside could hear me. The cleaning man ran up to me and tried to speak to me in German. He immediately switched to English, probably because he doesn't speak German, and yelled at me that he was the toilet master and that I wasn't allowed to close the door. I tried to calmly explain that I simply didn't want him to hear me from outside, but he kept yelling as if I'd done something terrible. He even almost started crying. It's insane that people like that are even allowed to work.

Today, apparently due to technical issues, the coupons/QR codes from the app weren't working... Okay, that can happen, but then inform the customers before they wait in line for 10 minutes only to find out they can't get what they want. I'm going home hungry and annoyed now, thanks McDonald's.

They don't even speak German or English, I ask them for it without cheddar, and afterwards they put cheddar in my sandwich.

Ordering three burgers via Lieferando within the city limits of Freiburg (city center) took more than an hour. That seems unacceptable to me these days.

The ambiance and the location are simply beautiful, with the old Martinstor gate, the tram, and the pedestrian zones along the shopping mile. It's a very modern McDonald's, but I miss the touchpads. It would be faster, and there wouldn't be such a long line. The staff is sparse, and their German isn't very good. You can order with your hands and feet, but otherwise, the food is as you'd expect. The police escort also gave us a warm welcome, fully equipped. It was definitely an adventurous trip there.

I had a very bad experience. The food was burnt and tasted rotten; I got food poisoning afterwards. The service was terrible, and I won't go back. No hygiene.

Crazy. I wanted something from the McCafe. I was sent to the regular (long) line. When it was my turn, I was sent back to the McCafe counter. No one came there. Very frustrating.

The employees cough in the kitchen without even covering their mouths, or better yet, using their elbows. They're even rude when you confront them about it.

Staff shortage! People are queuing, but there are only two employees at the checkout. It takes a long time to get to the counter.

In the evenings (especially on weekends), it gets very crowded, and you often have to wait over 20 minutes to order, as it's the only McDonald's downtown. The fact that there are no digital order boards and you're forced to order at the counter doesn't make it any faster; in fact, it slows things down even more. The food at other McDonald's in the city is usually better. The burgers here are often dry. The only positive thing is the good location and the beautiful building facade.

You can go in here and barely expect any human decency, let alone customer service. What a horrible experience.

We ordered a menu for €7.5, they gave us a menu for €6.5 with just one burger, we went to the cashier, we explained that there was a mistake and we wanted to get the ordered menu, and we would pay €1 for the difference. He told us, you ordered a menu for €6.5 and did nothing else.

In the restrooms, a man behaved very rudely and aggressively toward me. His behavior was disrespectful and inappropriate. I ask you to take this incident seriously and take appropriate measures to ensure that guests feel safe and comfortable in your store.

Don't come here if you have special requests, the service team mixes everything up! Instead of Fanta there was Coke, instead of Mayo there was Ketchup, instead of Soya sauce there was Sweet and Sour and they were also cheeky

I'm never coming back to this dump! They mixed up my sauce and were extremely unprofessional. The fries were cold, very similar, and no terminails. NEVER AGAIN. DON'T COME HERE.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and ready to assist with any questions. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Its central location is also ideal for exploring the city. We would definitely choose this hotel again. I highly recommend it!

You still order at the counter and there are no totems that make ordering much easier for those who don't speak German.

McDonald's in Germany is generally terrible. Don't try the fried chicken unless necessary. The chicken nuggets just taste like a lump of meat. The fries, however, are super delicious. This McDonald's is arguably one of the most beautiful. The Hello Kitty and Ninja Turtles toys have paint peeling all over them. I wouldn't recommend buying them.

Great experience and the portions are generous. The staff is always friendly! 😀 The only downsides are that you can't use your loyalty points, and there are no kiosks to order.

A man is asking for money at toilette.... never saw that in any mc donald i went in any countries i visited... the team is unfriendly. Very strange place.

I wanted to order a Happy Meal for myself today (24 years old). The employee said I was too old. I think that's rude. Then he broke the ice cream machine; we had already paid for a McFlurry. They didn't offer a chocolate shake as a substitute. You should know.

Absolutely rude staff and manager. The food was anything but tasty and dry, and we felt sick afterward. Plus, everything was dirty. An insult to any McDonald's.

The tables are very dirty. There's a man at the bathroom door with a face like Montse Tomé who's scary and chases you if you don't leave coins. At what McDonald's do you pay for the bathroom if you use something? This is crazy!

The employee falls asleep at work, serves according to appearance not according to the role

I've never experienced such a tragedy at any McDonald's. Half an hour of waiting in line. The service was terrible. The customer base was terrible too. There are no self-ordering stations. Come to Poland, you'll learn a lot there. I strongly advise against it!

Communication is not really present

You have to wait in line for a long time because there are no screens where you can order, you can only order verbally, which takes a very long time, especially when it's busy.

The shop is very dirty and the employees are unfriendly. The iced tea tastes of nothing, and they threw ketchup at me.

My child wanted to eat McFlurry Dragon Tongue here, got the mango ice cream, and wanted to exchange it. The very unfriendly waitress then said that McFlurry Dragon Tongue wasn't on the menu, even though it was still there. He could have told me beforehand. He was so sad he cried. I was expecting that. A rude welcome. The bartender made no effort to understand our German and was unaccommodating (he didn't provide lids for drinks under the pretext that we were drinking from them). The restroom attendant was the complete opposite. The food was very good.

On July 14, at 2:25 p.m., I was assaulted by a person in charge of sanitation at your premises. After washing my hands, I didn't dry them properly because my three-year-old daughter is afraid of the sound of the hand towel, and a drop of water fell on the floor. The person then verbally attacked me in front of my daughter, using inappropriate and aggressive language. I felt humiliated and shocked by his behavior.

Best McDonald's flurry I've ever had! But I think it was because the employee was new. But I'm not complaining :) Well-stocked with toppings. Very friendly woman. She took her time and wasn't rushed. McDonald's looks very nice. It's in the old style. Upstairs, you can sit by the window and look out over the shopping street. There's a restroom downstairs. I'm not sure if it's paid or not. There is a staff member there.

Avoid. No order displays, old school on the cashier ordering. The problem is that the stuff does not follow the system - trying to remember your order instead of following the list. Result - forgotten items - souces, drinks.

I've never eaten at a restaurant that was this slow. The fries were cold. My burger had wilted lettuce, and the bread was old and very dry. Also, my wife's shake wasn't mixed. Never again.

Worst mc D's ever - long wait times, overwhelmed staff, broken machine, wrong order, old and dry rolls, and the toilet is cleaned instead of cleaned - once and never again!

They don't have order machines. They're extremely slow. It took more than half an hour to get my burger...

Wrong sauce, waited 1 hour for food

Fries weren't salty. Staff were very quiet, almost no ketchup etc. on burgers, no order boards, McSmart €7.50 instead of €6.50, and no receipts.

The place is severely understaffed, there is constantly a line extending to the street losing the point of taking fast food when you have to wait 30 minutes to even order. Is not the workers fault they are doing their best to handle a very crowded place, but there should never be 1 person during rush hour.

The double cheeseburger could have been better cooked, cheese was not melting as usual. Otherwise good service

Unfortunately, it was a disappointing visit. There was neither a proper and complete menu nor functioning payment terminals. At the checkout, I received the wrong food and no glass. A return wasn't possible because the receipt printer was broken, so I didn't have a receipt. The app code was scanned, but no points were credited. Furthermore, the tables weren't properly clean.

In 1477, McDonald's opened a branch here - and not just anywhere, but right next to a medieval city gate. A true masterpiece of fast food architecture! Of course, the golden arch was replaced by a subtle sign to match the historical charm - or not.

The bell in the McCafe doesn't work or is turned off. Especially during the holiday rush, the cafe must be occupied - or the area will be closed! (Waiting time approx. 15 min)

My burger wasn't very tasty and was messily made, with a broken bun. Not very friendly and arrogant. Warning: Don't go there.

Unfriendly employees. Yesterday I went there with two other friends to buy ice cream. Everyone was at a cash register. The man who served me made half the ice cream for me than for my friends. Also, I was there another time and the McDonald’s app was not accepted by this man. Really unprofessional and disrespectful. The tables are not cleaned and the food is not as fresh as other branches. I promised myself I would never go down that hole again.

Food is ok, a little below average McDonald's quality. However, if you want to be attacked by an aggressive toilet cleaning man because you don't understand the need to tip him for paying for the emergency, this is the perfect place for it!

It's all about profit, money, money money... Despite active coupons in the app, they refuse to accept them at the checkout. It's a NO GO for me. Either they exist and you have to accept and take them or get out completely... And not whatever you feel like. It's a shame. I won't go there again in the future.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, they have treated us terribly, the food is not correct. I went to the bathroom and they asked me for a reward for entering, then they attacked me for not paying and they chased my friend with a broom. When she asked for the complaint form, she didn't want to give it to us nor did she intend to give it to us, they treat foreigners terribly and they don't even try to solve the conflicts, we have had to call the police and even so they have invented things, there is a strange business and probably with black money. The staff is impolite. I didn't know that there was no pre-order, I stood in line, explained in German at the cash register, but they didn't even want to listen. The eyes just rolled up to the forehead, the face twisted. Very unpleasant feelings remained. And I agree with many - it's very dirty. They are clearly not very happy for tourists or just people.

The evening manager was very unwelcoming. I have been to several hundred McDonalds and this was the worst by far.

It's actually a good McDonald's that I've been to many times, but it's taken a turn for the worse lately. When I ordered I specifically and specifically asked for a Cola Zero, but I still got a normal Cola. For me that's not a big deal, but it might be a problem for someone else who has diabetes or something like that. Then it continued with people walking around inside begging for change or your food. They don't go away straight away after you say no, they continue to discuss things and stand in front of you for a long time without leaving you alone. I also discovered a cockroach in the toilet. Last but not least, I had severe stomach pain after eating. I probably won't visit this McDonald's again.

There are often burgers in the warming counter, so you often get cold/old burgers. If the customer service is high, the food is okay. It would make sense to only produce as much as is ordered. Win-win for both sides.

Terrible staff, ordering in the local language is so nerve-wracking that you're actually hungry afterwards. The food isn't bad. Everything is usually completely dirty and you rarely leave the restaurant without sticky shoe soles. There are no machines, so you have to order in front, it's always a new mystery as to whether you actually get what you ordered

Oldest McDonald’s ever. No order terminals. Burgers are not freshly prepared, but have been lying around for ages before you get them. Please finally renovate and modernize this McDonald’s branch!!
