Excellent very tasty Chinese restaurant with a casual vibe!

The food was a dream. The homemade noodles tasted delicious, and the dish was perfectly balanced. My absolute highlight were the dumplings. You rarely get them this good!

They didn't give me cutlery when I ordered takeout and told me to eat with my hands? I even specifically requested cutlery. I even had to go to the hotel front desk to ask for a fork to eat Chinese food.

Very, very delicious and authentic Chinese food! We were in Düsseldorf and stumbled upon a real insider spot here – and we were more than satisfied. The hand-pulled chili noodles (warning, they're really hot!) were a highlight, as were the dumplings. We were so impressed that we even ordered the wontons afterward – and they were fantastic, too. Highly recommended!

It's probably the best Chinese restaurant. I've been going there regularly for lunch since 2019. Despite the change of ownership, the quality hasn't changed. I can't say what it's like in the evenings. But I'd say it's more of a lunch spot. The food is served quickly. The fried tofu as an appetizer - the best!

Pure enjoyment🔥, diverse and with attention to detail and many handmade dishes. Each ingredient has its own taste. We've eaten here 5-6 times now and just yesterday we were standing on Immermannstrasse and then decided on Hutong because it's simply unbeatable. Long story short, it's always worth eating there 🫶

Here you can get authentic Chinese food for the European palate. The rooms are lovingly designed with “cute” scenes from China. With a bit of luck, the wait for the main course can be sweetened with jiaozi on the house. A clear recommendation!

For a long time I didn't want to rate Hutong so that the store wouldn't become too well known. But it really is one of the best shops for Asian food in Düsseldorf. The homemade dumplings are particularly recommended.

Authentic homemade noodles & dumplings – a real taste experience! We tried this Chinese bistro and loved it! The menu offers homemade noodles and dumplings with various fillings and toppings – both boiled and fried. There is also a selection of rice dishes and starters. As a starter we had the cucumber salad, which was super fresh and had a pleasant spiciness from the crispy chili oil. The dumplings were also a highlight: we tried the versions with pork & Chinese cabbage and with chicken & shrimp. The dough was a little thicker than usual, but it clearly showed that they were homemade. The boiled dumplings were juicy, the fried ones were nice and crispy - a great combination! The main courses were also convincing. The homemade noodles were perfectly al dente, the meat was tender and the vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. The Gong Bao chicken with peanuts was particularly delicious – a nice mix of heat, spice and crunchy texture. The pork goulash, which was served in an aromatic, spicy sauce, was also recommended. The bistro itself is rather small (approx. 20 seats), but cozy and decorated with loving details on the walls. Drinks are self-service. The service was very friendly and you can make reservations - which makes sense given the limited spaces. Card payment is possible, but only from a certain amount (which unfortunately we don't know exactly). Conclusion: A great little restaurant with authentic, home-made Chinese cuisine! We will definitely come back to try more dishes. 🥢😊 5/5 ⭐️ – absolute recommendation!

We greeted with a rather strange atmosphere. When we asked if the host spoke English, she responded with a firm “No” in English—only to then continue asking how many people were in our party and whether we had a reservation. Quite an interesting way to not speak English. We were then seated at a table by the window, directly in the full sun. Since the restaurant was empty, we politely asked if we could switch to a different table. Her response was a blunt “No.” Thinking we might have misheard, we asked again, only for her to reply in a rude tone, “I said NO,” without any explanation. At that point, we decided to leave immediately. This is simply not how you treat customers.

We went for dinner at 17:30h, the jiaozi were authentic and the hutong meat rice was delicious. The lady was super friendly and accommodating to us coming with our baby and stroller. In sum, a restaurant that makes you remember the real China but staying in Düsseldorf (especially the price ;). We will definitely come back 🔙.

This is one of the two places in Düsseldorf where I feel at home (and I'm not Chinese): thanks to a pleasant environment, welcoming service and a menu that is not extensive but appetizing. The appetizers and wan ton soup are recommended.

It's a super authentic little shop. The inside is very clean and the decoration is very warm. I ordered pickled fish and it was a huge portion for less than 20€! And it tasted super good. I actually ate all the sauerkraut and bean sprouts inside... The fat intestine noodles felt a bit ordinary, the toppings were a bit greasy, the soup had no flavor, and the noodles were not chewy. But for the pickled fish, I give it 5 stars! Sehr authentisch chinesisches Restaurant! Sauerkraut Fischfilet war eine sehr große Portion und auch Mega lecker! Nudel war nicht so gut wie der Fisch.

I'll keep it short: Bistro is the right word. Very small shop, authentic Chinese dishes, friendly service and above all very tasty food. Not what the common German understands as “Chinese food”, but that’s exactly what I thought was great. It's a shame that you can only use EC payments from €50 onwards. I would also voluntarily pay €0.50 more for this. I don't feel like carrying cash around with you all the time. Absolute top rating! I'll definitely be back!

Very tasty little restaurant in the heart of Düsseldorf! Way too underrated. The starters are reasonably priced and were good. The spring rolls are crunchy and juicy at the same time. The fried gyoza with chicken filling are highly recommended. They were incredibly delicious. The food arrives hot. For the main course we had noodles with beef. The noodles were very good. Meat was tender. Very tasty sauce. We also had chicken in a sweet churry sauce with vegetables and rice. That was also very tasty: incredibly tender meat, crunchy vegetables and very good sauce. The portions are very large. You will definitely be full. Price-performance is top. The two of us paid €40 and were satisfied and full. The shop is very small and doesn't have many tables. But the place is very friendly. The walls are painted. You feel very comfortable. We'll definitely come again. I can recommend the place to everyone!!

Hygiene is average, suitable for foreigners' tastes. If I can't adapt to it, it's okay. After all, the boss looks like a Chinese compatriot.

Super tasty food. We had the won ton soup, noodles with kun bao, fried shrimp dumplings and fried noodles with chicken. We would order everything again. In the last few months we have also been to “The 3 Chinese” and “Fu to Master Wang” - they were also good, but in our opinion Hutong Bistro was a level better. We'll be back!

Be careful: food poisoning after a visit - the food was actually delicious. Service was rather mediocre, but the store was still well attended. Unfortunately, I struggled with nausea and diarrhea that night and the next morning. Since I only ate bread that day, there was no mix-up. Very unpleasant, unfortunately I can't recommend it to anyone.

The best wonton soup I've ever eaten! The service is super attentive and very fast, perfect for lunchtime. All the dishes were delicious and very plentiful, so I was able to take something with me. The dumplings were super tasty and everything was quite mild, which I was happy about because I can't tolerate spicy very well. Card payment possible from €50.

Nice cozy Chinese restaurant with a good selection of food. Here you can eat well as a couple or in smaller groups. The cooked dumplings were very tasty - especially the filling. (Tip: If you wait a while until the dough dries a little in the air and becomes more al dente, the dumplings taste even better) The homemade thick wheat noodles were okay - the dish was quite mild. The sauce for the Mapo Tofu had little flavor and was barely spicy, only the tofu itself was salty. We barely touched the seaweed because we personally didn't like it, but the waitress was so attentive and nice that she served us tofu instead. Thank you very much again! There were still enough places on Thursday evening. You can also go out for a spontaneous meal here. However, only cash payment is accepted.

Update and correction (1) After a few stays in China, I know that you can't expect too much service or friendliness from a snack bar like this. Sometimes I had to pack my leftover food into the to-go box myself or I was moved to a single seat during the meal when the store was only half full. I also don't like the fact that I can only pay with an EC card if I spend more than 50 euros. (2) But the food is TOP. I've eaten there three times now and the friendliness is good (maybe we had a bad day the first time) and the food is always great. And that is the most important thing. That's why I changed my rating and will be back.

We came across Hutong Bistro by chance and really liked it. The service was very friendly and attentive. The homemade noodles and dumplings are a particular highlight and should definitely be tried. The selection of vegetarian dishes also offers something for every taste. Insider tip: if you like mushrooms, you should definitely order the morel salad as a side dish. Unfortunately, the chicken dumplings were already sold out, but that gives us a good reason to come back soon. ;) A great bistro for authentic Chinese cuisine!

This is a main course for 1 person (€18.90). 😄. That was enough for me for 3 meals - great value for money! Delicious food, authentic and good quality.

Small and authentic bistro. The service is initially quite cautious and distant, but after a short start-up time it becomes very warm and accommodating. Very good kimchi, great homemade noodles I'll be back!

I don't know if the chef has changed, but mapo tofu used to taste so great and intense. Now it's just bland and you have a lot of coarse pieces of Sichuan pepper in your mouth. Dumplings were okay, but the ones with meat and celery only tasted like celery. The cooked dumplings were overcooked and falling apart.

The fried dumplings were not fried but were already burnt at the bottom. You could taste the soot. Otherwise the other main courses were fine. However, I think you should make sure that the food reaches the customer edible.

A little insider tip. A bit inconspicuous from the outside, but the food is very authentically Chinese! I can highly recommend the chili noodles (be careful, spicy), the glass noodle salad, pasta salad and dumplings!

Update June 2023: After being closed for a few months, the store reopened last month with an adjusted menu. Many dishes have been vegetarianized (which I think is a good thing) but unfortunately my favorite dish (No. 10) no longer tastes as good as it once did 😢 ————— 2020-2022: My favorite shop in Düsseldorf! I actually always eat and drink the same thing 😄 The aubergines are simply amazing - very tasty in a delicious sweet and spicy sauce (caution: very oily) and with honey grapefruit tea (cold, it's like a spritzer). Perfect combination! What else I tried: - Eggplant with cucumber (but doesn't taste nearly as tasty as the slightly spicy version!) - Rice Peking style (tastes delicious and cinnamony) - Mapo Tofu (also very tasty but spicy!!!) - homemade dumplings (good bite) - Soup with fish (was too oily for me) - Pasta with bean paste (far too little sauce) - Cucumber salad (also very tasty, oily!)

Insider tip! A clear menu, drinks you can take yourself from the fridge, good and varied selection. Everything was very tasty, authentic, and the food came quickly and hot. Dumplings are handmade and noodles are home-grown. We'd love to come back!

I will definitely not suggest this place, because the soup was full of oil , and there were really less stuff. And the lady was not friendly, when we had a question, she was just giving short answers.

Just a bistro. Small, loud and narrow. It's unfortunate that the waitress didn't give us the opportunity to look at the paper map - I only discovered it later - so we had to use our smartphone. The food was solid, a little too spicy for me. Perfect for a small lunch or a late evening snack.

Had the noodles with braised pork and my companion Zha Jiang Mian (with pork). The food was okay, although the noodles with braised pork were better than Zha Jiang Mian. Overall, the taste was just okay. Prices are okay for the portion. There are pictures of the food on the menu, which helps a lot when choosing.
