My meal was very good. Freshly prepared, seasoned with lemongrass, and served hot. The service was friendly and attentive.

A very appealing Chinese restaurant with delicious food. The ambiance is charmingly old-fashioned without being intrusive. Despite its size, it's quite quiet and comfortable. The service is friendly and attentive. The food was very good, using fresh ingredients (the duck, in particular, was of excellent quality) and seasoned perfectly. However, it lacked a bit of spice, even though it was marked with two stars 🌶️🌶️. Perhaps a little pricey, but we would still return.

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with this restaurant. Initially, I would have given it 3 stars, but there are 4 reasons why I won't be returning anytime soon. 1. The price-performance ratio is disproportionate. The food tastes quite good, but the portion sizes and the amount of meat and fish per dish are too expensive for the price. Furthermore, they sometimes skimp on ingredients, such as the squid, which is of lower quality both visually and in terms of taste. We also received two menus with sometimes differing prices. 2. Hidden costs. When we looked at the bill at the end, we were charged €1.90 for the rice that came with the meal for two people. However, we were not informed about this surcharge beforehand, and it's unclear on the menu whether the rice is optional or mandatory. The price of the rice is not included in certain meals where it must be purchased separately. I don't know to what extent this is legally correct. 3. Excessive waiting time and preferential treatment of other guests. We received our first dim sum dishes approximately 30 minutes after ordering, and then another hour later, our duck and vegetables. However, it must be said that even guests who arrived significantly later than us received some of these dishes earlier. 4. Service and customer service. Unfortunately, we had a neutral to negative experience with the service. When we asked when our duck and vegetables would arrive, we were told they would be soon. The staff apparently hadn't bothered to check with the kitchen, as the vegetables didn't arrive until 20 minutes later, and the duck 3-5 minutes after that. We received no compensation, no token of appreciation for the long wait, nor a discount on the rice due to the menu, which, from our perspective, wasn't very clear. We also noticed that some guests had to wait longer than others. We spent almost two hours at the restaurant. Therefore, I cannot recommend it, and we expected a bit more for the price. Very disappointing.

I've known this restaurant for many years in Düsseldorf. A nice Chinese restaurant, but for me personally, the prices have risen considerably. The food is quite decent, and so is the service.

I reserved a table for two for Saturday and ordered Peking duck in advance. When we sat down at our table, we were told they couldn't find our order and couldn't serve us Peking duck. We were very upset about this, as I had called twice to make sure the reservation was confirmed, as we were traveling from far away.

This restaurant was recommended to us as a traditional Chinese restaurant. We pre-ordered the Peking duck menu: Excellent! We started with a spicy, flavorful Peking soup. The second course was crispy duck skin, which was rolled into small, wafer-thin pancakes, coated with hoisin sauce and wrapped in cucumber and leek strips. This was followed by the duck meat with two sauces, cooked with vegetables and mushrooms, and served with rice. The final dish was a baked banana. Everything was extremely delicious and flavorful. Everything was explained to us with great care. The service was excellent, and the owner was very welcoming! - A fantastic overall experience, and we would definitely come back. Thank you! 🙏

I was here with a friend and we ordered a variety of things. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. I especially liked that the food was also presented in bamboo pots. The price-performance ratio is on the lower end, as the prices are quite high.

Quality authentic Chinese food with a great price-to-quality ratio. This is like you expect from a great Chinese diner. Authentic Chinese furniture and look and feel. Tuesday was not very busy, so the service was great and quick! Szechuan dish, the squid with Szechuan sauce. It was amazing.

This is a restaurant I always stop by when I'm in Düsseldorf. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff are friendly, so I always have a pleasant meal. I was so busy eating that I didn't take pictures of everything, but everything was delicious, from the Peking duck to the fried squid and celery, eggplant, stir-fried hollowed-out vegetables, Sichuan-style cold chicken, fish, and pumpkin glutinous rice fritters. If you enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine, this is a must-visit!

2025: The hidden menu is classic, delicious and traditional, eye-catching. There is a bacon in the cold dishes that is amazing. The seafood is fresh. 👍 Try to book seafood in advance. 2023: The overall portion is relatively delicate, the taste is not bad, and the decoration is better.

The atmosphere is good, so many foreigners come to eat. I ordered crab roe siu mai and spicy chicken 🌶️. The siu mai tasted good, but the spicy chicken was a pity that there was no peppercorns. The price is similar to Chinese food in other cities, but the portion is too small compared to other Chinese restaurants. I can understand the serious inflation, but I don't think it's okay to reduce the portion to save costs.

First time there today with a colleague. Super friendly staff, very attentive. Clean restaurant. The Peking duck was delicious. The spring roll could have been fried for a couple of minutes longer, in my opinion. We had two drinks, three appetizers, and two main courses. The total was €140.

Hai Xian is truly a wonderful place for anyone who appreciates authentic Chinese cuisine. The interior design is very reminiscent of restaurants in China - lovingly designed and with an atmosphere that immediately creates a feeling of the Far East. The service is also authentically Chinese, friendly and pleasantly reserved. What's particularly nice is that everyone can feel at home here: those who like to try out new culinary things will find a large selection of traditional dishes, and classic dishes such as sweet and sour are also on the menu - something that many Chinese themselves also like to eat. It's just nice to have such authentic Asian cuisine in Düsseldorf. A place where you always enjoy coming back - be it for a relaxed lunch or an enjoyable evening with friends.

Delicious tasty authentic Chinese food. We came in with groups and tried multiple dishes, none disappointed and the Cantonese duck is the star of the feast. As someone who was born and raised in a Chinatown in a major US city, I can honestly say that this is THE WORST, MOST OVERPRICED, BLAND, UNAUTHENTIC "Chinese" food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Having to give it one star is grossly misleading and overgenerous. The only way I would ever recommend this place is if someone wanted to experience what "Chinese" food would taste like in a white old folks home in Mexico.

If you want to really enjoy it like in China, you should be a guest here. Real traditional cuisine. Class.

I come from Berlin, prices are incredibly high... I paid €25 for pasta with duck breast, the portion wouldn't even have fed my 5 year old nephew! In Berlin I would have paid a maximum of €6.90 for the dish at a good Asian restaurant. The taste was good, but as I said, the price/performance ratio was very poor! Apparently standard for Düsseldorf

Very very tasty food. I had rice noodle rolls as a starter, sweet and sour duck as a main course and the baked banana as dessert. Everything was outstanding, I think the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The service was also really nice and the atmosphere was nice. I actually rarely write reviews but I was really impressed with this one. Highly recommended!

Overpriced for the quality of food. Canned pineapple with generic sweet and sour sauce you can buy in any Asian market. Rice you need to pay extra for. Beef noodle bowl that was very tasteless with raw beef in it. So obviously microwaved premade beef broth with packet noodles and frozen beef not cooked properly.

The restaurant is really big, lots of space. Everything the customer can see is clean! Wipes on the toilet for better hand hygiene is recommended. Staff/service were friendly, not too attentive but within reason. Reservation online doesn't work, at least there is neither a confirmation nor a response via email. Only a call to inquire confirmed the reservation. There are a lot of dishes and perhaps the quality of the food suffers due to the large selection. Unfortunately, I found the dim sum to be bad in taste, but the duck was good in the iron plate. Although there is a recognizable AMEX logo on the bar, payment via AMEX is not possible. Really a shame! Then please remove this logo too! Overall average for me. Otherwise EC, Visa works.

I have known this Chinese restaurant for many years and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately I cannot report this during my visit today. The food was not of the usual quality, unfortunately.

Das Essen ist woanders besser. Dim Sum wirken wie von der Tiefkühltruhe, kein Vergleich zu Tsungai oder Dschunke oder New City oder oder oder… Gemüse Kai Lan sehr versalzen. Die hohen Preise sind hier bei der Qualität nicht nachvollziehbar. Was wir allerdings richtig frech fanden: Reis kostet extra! 1€ pro Person! Und wir hatten nur 1 Reis Portion. Hatten wir jedenfalls nicht bestellt (kriegt man doch so immer zum Hauptgericht?) und wir wurden dazu nicht informiert. Bei der Rechnung die Überraschung, ohne ein Wort seitens den Kellnerinnen. Die Ente hat 22,80€ gekostet und da ist kein Reis dabei🤣 wenn diese wenigstens gut geschmeckt hätte, aber nö. Kaum Fleisch, alles trocken. Kriegt der Imbissladen/Lieferant sogar besser hin🙈 Geld können die behalten, haben noch ordentlich Trinkgeld gegeben und tschüss, nie wieder🤷🏻‍♀️

I can't understand all the bad (Vietnamese?) reviews. I celebrated my niece's starting school here and the staff and food were very good. The service came quickly and the food was of good quality. I also find the furnishings very comfortable, very funny. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Düsseldorf.

Food was bad, fried everything in old oil. Taste like dogfood. Service was even worse. Last 2 dishes came after we were done eating, after one hour!!! Dont eat here.

We specially came to Dusseldorf to see the sights of the city and visit this restaurant. We pre-booked a table by phone and informed us that we wanted to order two dishes with duck. The recipe is prepared using complex technology, it takes several days, but the result is excellent, it is expensive, but sometimes, if possible, you need to pamper yourself, the rest of the dishes, as in any restaurant, are at an affordable price. The interior of the hall is decorated in the national style, colorful and interesting , you can look at the photo. The team works harmoniously and the quality of service is excellent, and all the dishes taste excellent and are decorated interestingly, we say hello to the chef, if he is reading this review, he has talent! I gave 4 stars for the service, sorry, I was asked to write about the possibility of visiting this establishment for disabled people with a stroller, the hall allows this, but the toilet does not, it is not properly equipped

I went here during Drupa exhibition, frankly speaking this is the best Chinese Restaurant i had so far in Germany. They serve reasonable portion and the taste was authentic, unlike many other Chinese restaurants. The Peking duck was very special, meat so tender with crispy skin, this was the highlight. Also the salted vegetables fish really 👍 nice. It was so nice that we finished all the dishes before got a chance to do documentation😂

Just “had dinner” there. It had 90 minutes and should therefore go quickly. The crew was overwhelmed. Finally had to have the food packed after waiting for almost 90 minutes. So now we come home, starving, and what happens? The order is incorrect and inferior relative to what we paid. You go out to eat to save yourself the time of cooking. I could have done what I got in almost half the time. Absolutely no recommendation.

The food is good, but I expected the peking duck to be more crispy.

Impression of the store and the staff is good. I had crispy Szechuan duck. Unfortunately the duck was neither crispy nor spicy. The sauce was bland and tasted just like cafeteria food. Considering the dish costs around £25 outside of the lunch menu - then I definitely can't recommend it. A pity. UPDATE: my son was here with me for the first time today. The waitress pressured us to order quickly 30 minutes before closing time. After 2 minutes later the lady stood next to us again, we left.

The food was tasty, but sometimes a bit overpriced. The lady who served us was very rude from the start, but the rest of the staff seemed friendly. A small point of criticism for me is that we were not offered chopsticks. Things were different for the visibly Asian guests, who were immediately placed on the table.

Good food language barrier was a little bit awkward but we got around it.
