DongWu Chinese Kitchen 东吴廖李 Kaiserstraße in Düsseldorf

First time visiting, the food was great. Would love to go again and try more dishes. Got the Su Rou, Ma Po Dou Fu and I think the Yu Xiang Rou Si.

During our last visit on June 1, we only noticed later that the receipt for the food consumed on site showed only 7% VAT instead of the legally required 19% (Section 12 of the German Value Added Tax Act). While this saves the business considerable money, it is more than questionable from a tax perspective, distorts competition, and undermines guest trust. Unfortunately, we were unable to complain about the error directly, but we expect accurate and transparent billing in the future.

Very tasty and truly authentic Chinese food. The soup was only very spicy (medium), and I had to remove all the chilies. Six of us ate there, and everything tasted delicious. The service was good, and the food was served quickly. Our requests were accommodated.

We enjoyed the "spicy salad." The eggplant was WAY too sweet for our taste, and the soup tasted too watery. The service was very attentive, helpful, and friendly. Unfortunately, the seating is substandard for camping, with uncomfortable plastic stools and benches. The windows overlooking the kitchen could also use a cleaning...

I'll say it right away: The focus is on pure flavor, and I'm telling you: This is 6 out of 5! Positive: The taste is great, the portion sizes are perfectly adequate, the service is absolutely prompt, the speed is amazing, and the price-performance ratio is excellent!! Converse: If you can't handle spicy food, you might have problems. One chili means you have to be able to handle fairly spicy food. Plus, the place isn't the prettiest... But most importantly: The focus is on flavor!!! In my opinion, it's top 2 in Düsseldorf for Sichuan cuisine!

Fantastic service, lovely staff and some of the most amazing Chinese food we’ve had.

We were sightseeing in Düsseldorf and suddenly got extremely hungry on the way back to the hotel. So we simply went to the nearest restaurant that was open – it was Dong Wu. And honestly, we were totally pleasantly surprised! The food was super delicious and truly authentic. We tried a few things – fried rice (Yang Zhou Chao Fan), Gong Bao Chicken (spicy) with vegetables, and a very spicy Chongqing noodle soup. But the tofu dish was the absolute highlight! Tofu is often difficult to get right, but this one was just really, really good – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, incredibly seasoned. Seriously, a hit on the spur of the moment – ​​we highly recommend it!

One of the best chinese restaurant we have eaten in Germany (as well as the Netherlands). The aubergine and beef was fantastic and we just had to order more things. In the end, we ordered the Bang Bang Ji and eventhough it seems like a simple dish, it was amazing. The server was kind in their recommendation as well. Definitely will be back for more!

excellent food. exactly what you would get in Sichuan. price is acceptable by European standards. if you need your chilli fix in Dusseldorf, this is the place to come.

We went there on a Sunday evening because we couldn't get a table at another restaurant. That was a stroke of luck. We both agreed that we'd never eaten anything like it. Therefore, for someone who likes to try something new, this place is ideal. And it was delicious, too. It's also good to note that the dishes are very intensely seasoned. Just right for us. You should just think twice before ordering anything more than mildly spicy.

For us the best Sichuan cuisine in Düsseldorf. I regularly get something to eat for us here. My favorites are the twice fried pork belly and the spicy salad. But the pasta dishes are also excellent. Never gets boring!!!

Authentic good Chinese cuisine. Excellent selection of soups and stir-fried dishes. A lot of preparation and work goes into the dishes, which are put together for the guest from what feels like 200 small bowls. Usual spiciness, which is better not to be exaggerated by inexperienced people. Great quality and super friendly staff. The atmosphere is more of a snack bar and a bit cold in winter because the heating climate doesn't handle it. But you can live well with that if the heat comes from within ;)

DongWu is a small, authentic Chinese restaurant that impresses with quality and taste. The menu is small, but every dish is freshly prepared and full of flavors. If you order spiciness, you get it – exactly as it should be! So be careful! The quick preparation and simple ambience make it a great place for real Chinese cuisine. The prices are completely reasonable. Absolutely recommended!

The taste was quite good, very well seasoned and also spicy enough. Similar to other Sichuan restaurants I've been to. Unfortunately, the ambience is ridiculous compared to the prices quoted. 16€ for a pair of dumplings with broth. Starters for €8 that are gone after two grabs. Absolutely unjustified for a fast restaurant. To get enough here you have to spend at least €30-40. You can also go to the numerous all-you-can-eat Korean, Chinese, and Japanese restaurants in Düsseldorf, or to other Sichuan restaurants in Düsseldorf that are much fairer.

Authentic, good. Very tasty, without the usual frills. Positive: There are no frozen spring rolls. The plum juice cola from the can tastes great. If Chinese, then there.

We recently ate at DongWu with our family and were generally satisfied with the food. The portions were generous. Unfortunately, half of the duck breast in two dishes was dried out and the other half was perfect. The restaurant is small and cozy. Unfortunately, there is a significant point deduction for the almost unreasonable (due to lack of) heating. Since the door is open every minute because of the many pickups by delivery services, we basically ate at outside temperatures (these days below 0 degrees C) and were therefore cold after eating. The existing air conditioning split unit should be used in winter (as long as it heats) and should be installed on the correct side of the room, namely next to the entrance door.

I have been a regular customer here for about 1.5 years. From what I can tell, the place cooks really authentic Chinese food. Absolutely delicious every time. The prices are unbeatable, so it's easy to get over the fact that you don't have the ambience of a 5-star restaurant. The employees are very friendly and also very dog-loving :)

If you like authentic Chinese cuisine, this is your restaurant of choice. If you like European spicy food, you're in the wrong place here. A great place for me. Have been there twice.

I was quite amused that the waitress checked with me, out of best intention, if I knew how spicy the chicken offal noodle soup usually is. Her fear was that I might find it unbearable. I assured her that I knew what I was getting into. lol. Been here three times, once to meet a new acquaintance and twice alone. This cozy joint is great for solo diners or pairs. Though seating for a group of four or six can be managed, too. EC card accepted.

The most delicious Chinese food I have ever eaten. The soups are worth their price. 23€ for a soup seems steep - but it is full of meat and vegetables. A very large portion. The starters are super delicious. We'll definitely be back. Open kitchen where hygiene is taken very seriously. But unfortunately my wife's main course was brought 15-20 minutes before mine. We wanted to eat together.

Super tasty and authentic food. The soups tasted delicious and, given the size and amount of good, tender meat, the prices were absolutely justified. Unfortunately, the dishes were served too far apart (at least 15 minutes) so that you couldn't eat together. Despite this, this is probably the best Asian I have personally tested and a clear recommendation. (Unfortunately no toilet)

A simple little restaurant. Chinese kitchen is on it and is also in there. And all this authentically with the special craft of noodles. These are particularly delicious here. But the original sharpness is definitely fire. Really recommended if you really want to eat spicy food. But it's not a "I'll burn my mouth and won't taste any spiciness anymore" but exactly the kind of spiciness that feels healthy. The service staff was friendly and definitely offered recommendations as I had one or two questions. In the end I had to pay 21 euros for water, a starter (mushrooms) and a main course. I was full and satisfied and finally found a restaurant where, if it says spicy, there is something in it.

Why didn't anyone tell me that Dousse tastes so good? Woohoo, for a Guizhou native, this dish is really spicy and the portion is quite generous. Especially in this electromagnetic country, where there are dishes cooked over high fire, I am really satisfied.

My number one when it comes to authentic and good Chinese cuisine in Düsseldorf. The dishes are sometimes very spicy, so keep that in mind when ordering. If desired, it can also be made with less spiciness (spicy here means really hot 🌶️🌶️🌶️). Very friendly service, but the shop is very small. But reservations are possible. All in all, an absolute recommendation.

An absolutely authentic restaurant. Lots of Asian customers and absolutely aromatic cuisine. You should really reduce the level of spiciness a bit - just don't fill your mouth with too much. The ambience is special - more of a snack bar than a cozy restaurant - but it's certainly more like street food than star gastro.

Food is 5 🌟 . It is very authentic and therefore very spicy 🌶️. I worked up a sweat eating a 3 chilli dish. 🥵 Ambience is on the level of eating in and out quickly. It doesn't invite you to linger, nor is it designed for that. Space for a maximum of 16 people. Here you eat shoulder to shoulder. You can hear conversations left and right. Service is friendly. If you want to eat authentically, come here, but bring yoghurt and your taste buds will thank you xD. Recommended: bon bom chicken as a starter. 🥣

The location is a bit out of the way and the taste is very good, but one thing I want to complain about is that you need to pay a minimum of 20 euros to pay by card, which is very embarrassing for people who don't bring cash. I can't spend that much on my own. In order to make up 20 euros, even if I have already ordered a drink, I can only get one more drink before I can pay. In Chinese stores, you always need a certain amount before you can swipe your card. It's really painful for someone like me who doesn't like to carry cash. It is true that customers paying cash can reduce some "taxes" in the store, but it is really full of malice from customers. I don't like it very much. In short, I will not come again.

Endlich mal originale Schärfe 😊 für Kinder nur bedingt geeignet, aber es gibt auch Essen, das nicht scharf ist und man wird bei der Bestellung darauf hingewiesen, welchen Schärfegrad die gewählte Mahlzeit hat. Eigentlich ein mega Laden, tolles Essen und super authentisch. Beim ersten Mal hatte man schon keinen Tisch für uns als wir telefonisch reservieren wollten, bei Ankunft (5 min später) gab es drei freie Tische & es war kein Problem! Heute packt man noch Uber eats Tüten, im halb gefüllten Laden, wo auch noch gegessen wurde - jedoch sei die Küche schon zu. Sehr schade Freunde!

Sehr unscheinbar von außen und in der Einrichtung. Das Essen ist sehr gut und authentisch. Schärfegrade sind wählbar. Nudel sind selbstgemacht. Ich empfehle alles mit Nudeln, alle Suppen (v.a. die Wantansuppe) und unbedingt die frittierten Sardinen.

A great place for some Chinese noodles and cuisines. We were in a hurry and ordered three bowls of noodles, the beef was a bit chewy and could’ve been more tender, the spicy flavor was the original Chinese type. I also suggested the cold dish koushui chicken, the chicken strips absorbed the juice and tasted well. Hope next time we’ll get more time and order some wok dishes. Great thanks for saving us from being hungry.

If you’re craving spicy Chinese food and love noodles, this is the place for you. As someone who has been to Chong Qing in China, I have to say this gem of a restaurant hits the spot and was a pleasant surprise to find in Germany. Don’t expect a fancy interior; however, the service is good, food is excellent, and the venue is dog friendly. With three options of noodles (i think they are fresh) , the option to choose your spice level, and an array of classic Sichuan dishes, this place has something for everyone. Would definitely come back.

Mein Lieblings-Chinese! Sehr authentisch, sehr lecker und vollmundig und liegt leicht im Magen - macht aber richtig satt! Große Portionen für einen sehr guten, nicht all zu teuren Preis! Man kann sich gut bzgl Schärfe und Empfehlungen beraten lassen. Und sehr sauber! Ich komme mehrmals wieder!

i mentioned to a chinese friend living in düsseldorf that i was craving spicy noodles. she highly recommended this place. i went to this branch in particular because the other one was closed when i visited on a sunday. i had the sichuan cold noodles and two sides, the tofu skin and potato. the noodles were fantastic. nice and chewy. the sides were all zesty and had great texture and flavour. but i wish they could all be spicier. there was some chili sauce on the condiment bar, but it was more salty than spicy. service was fast. staff was friendly. some of the staff spoke german, mandarin and english. however, a few caveats: card payments are for 20€ over, and there's no toilet for customers. i also wish they had vegan options for the noodle soups. otherwise, still worth the visit.

Das authentischste chinesische Restaurant, das ich in Düsseldorf kenne. Vom Ambiente eher Imbiss, Essen aber immer hochwertig, frisch und sagenhaft lecker. Besondere Empfehlung sind die vielen keinen Vorspeisen. Un Tipp: Original Mala Schärfe nehmen. Scharf aber auszuhalten, aber dann ist es richtig lecker.

Authentische chinesische Küche. Man sollte hier aber nicht erwarten, ein WC vorzufinden, am besten seine Geschäfte Zuhause vorher zu verrichten. Das Essen hingegen hat bisher immer überzeugt.
