Gasthaus Bräuwastl in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and the beer is good. However, the food was fairly average. We’ll likely explore other dining options next time.

Good food, service and pleasant staff. Typical setting of the region. I recommend this place.

We took a break there on our walk. We sat outside. Drank something and ate some soup each. These were delicious. The prices for the food are very affordable by Garmisch standards. But I can't say anything about the quality.

Mixed dining experiences. Spaetzle and schnitzel were great, knuckle and 1/4 duck with red cabbage below average. The red cabbage was totally seasoned and the knuckle and duck would have needed a little more cooking time

We have been coming to the Bräuwastl regularly for many years. Mostly in autumn, on our tour to South Tyrol. You are always greeted in a friendly, kind and courteous manner and served with Bavarian charm. There is good, down-to-earth food. Keep it up! We hope to be able to stop by the Bräuwastl often.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants authentic home cooking

The ambience was great, service was also very good. Within 5 minutes we already had our food. However, the gourmet palate will not get its money's worth. The meat was very dry. However, it is inexpensive in comparison. Knuckle with red cabbage and fried potatoes €18.50

This little restaurant is WONDERFUL. I don't get some of the previous comments about unfriendly behavior. Food and service are terrific. We had the hackerbraten tonight, and it was delicious. 15 min walk from Edelweiss.

The käsespätzle was so dry and bland.

We left last, so the personnel was a bit frustrated for that while we were finishing our beer. The food was good enough!

The Gasthaus Bräuwastl alone is worth a trip to Garmisch Partenkirchen for a few days. Delicious food, changing daily specials, large portions, quick service, friendly staff. The beer on tap is Augustiner. It's absolutely worth the short ride on the public utility bus or a walk to the "outskirts" of Garmisch. Top.

We LOVE German food, but we left Gasthaus Bräuwastl infuriated and heartbroken… When ordering, the waitress kept trying to tell us what to order, even though we wanted something different. When the food came, we did not get what we wanted, but whatever the waitress wanted us to have, when we corrected her on what we ordered she proceeded to sternly scold us. She was very impatient, rude, and condescending. We felt very unwelcome and she seemed annoyed that we were there. We felt so miserable by the end of the meal, but even then I had to ask for the check (in German) three times. Finally after over 30 mins I just went inside and paid, walked out defeated. My recommendation, do not risk dining at Gasthaus Bräuwastl, your family deserves better and you don’t want to ruin their German experience.

If you are American, do NOT eat here. We came as a family with our two kids and they treated us horribly. My 10 year old daughter even asked why they were being so mean to us, sad that our kids had to see this. Save your money and eat elsewhere.

Typical Bavarian restaurant, good food (amazing roast beef with cabbage), good beer, nice service and otherwise it feels like only locals. Just the thing after a hard day of hiking.

This is our second visit to this very nice Gasthus. Elisa and Anna-Lina are wonderful as usual. The food is fantastic and the beer is wonderful. Highly recommended.

The ambience was quite nice, but unfortunately the food wasn't. We had several dishes, all of which were unfortunately not that good. Unfortunately, the crust on the pork knuckle wasn't firm. The red cabbage didn't taste good and the fries were sticky. In addition, the chanterelles were cooked too long and the sauce only tasted like an artificial sauce thickener. It's a real shame, we were looking forward to some good home cooking.

Because of the many good reviews, we spontaneously went for dinner during our vacation - but let's get straight to the point - it wasn't good. I wasn't expecting top cuisine - but it wasn't even good. The service - well - I mean something different by service and friendliness. The side salad was terrible. Just throw a few giant leaves on a plate that is way too small, add a dollop of ready-made sauce and voila. Schnitzel partially burnt and carelessly thrown onto the plate with the fries. So I can't recommend it. Everything is too loveless.

We were a party of five and stopped in for dinner in July of 2024 and very glad that we did. The food was very good, but the service was even better! Our waitress was very funny, helpful and very good. I wish I could remember her name, but she joked with us and made the experience that much better. We were able to get a lot of different dishes and we were all very pleased with our choices. the meatloaf was amazing! The prices were very good for what you get as well. They speak enough English that we were able to get by very easily. The entire experience was great and we would highly recommend! We will definitely be back when visiting the area.

Our party all arrived late ... they took us at 7:30 or 8 last minute party of 9. Authentic German food. Very friendly staff... the server was exhausted at the end of her shift... but served with a smile. In walking distance to Edelweiss Lodge and Resort. Too late and hungry for photos!

Cozy restaurant with a nice atmosphere and service.

In the inn they saved us the last evening of our vacation. Salad, knuckle and schnitzel came to the table very quickly and were absolutely delicious. We'd love to come back next year.

Very limited Menu. Only about 8 or 10 different main dishes. Schnitzel was ok. Potato salad had no flavor. Service was nice, parking convenient. Will not be coming back.

We ate there twice while on vacation and we absolutely loved it. Super cozy, you feel so homely, really nice staff and also very fond of children. The food was also super tasty. We will definitely come back on our next vacation!

Very nice restaurant with home-style cooking (as advertised) and a great location. The food is also super tasty and the price-performance ratio is right. The portions are not too small. It's very comfortable to sit on the terrace and the service was really friendly and we didn't have to wait long. I can really recommend it!

In Fritteuse gebackenes Stück schlecht zu kauendes Fleisch, namens Schnitzel, der Wurstsalat bestand aus Ringen von geschnittener Fleischwurst, darauf geschichtet Zwiebelringe, Gurkenscheiben, eine Spalte Tomate mit einem Salatblatt, dies alles ertränkt in Essigwasser serviert in einem Suppenteller. Genauso unappetitlich wie es aussah hat es leider auch geschmeckt.

A very nice place with a local atmosphere and food. We came across the May 1 holiday and the residents dressed in traditional costumes added character to the place, complementing the style in which the restaurant is decorated. Cool experience.

The food was okay, but in our opinion not seasoned enough. The service was good, but we didn't ask if everything was okay, then we would probably have complained about the food. Price-performance ratio is slightly overpriced, but still within reason.

Vi var en gruppe på 5 som kjørte fra Ischgl til München og var klar for et godt måltid langs veien. Vi fant dette stedet på tripadvisor og ble møtt av et genuint tyrolsk lokale og et serviceinnstilt personale. Maten var utsøkt og vi snakket om hvor godt det var hele veien til München.

This is a short walk from the Edelweiss resort. Easily one of our favorite places in town. Has all of the Bavarian fare staples you might be looking for The schnitzel is great. The restaurant is reasonably priced. Good for a small group or a little weeknight date. You have to order the pork knuckle the day before.

Essen war sehr gut. Schönes uriges Lokal. Viele einheimische, haben auf einem Gestell geregelt. Gute Stimmung. Kann man empfehlen.

Delicious Bavarian fare, friendly staff, festive layout. Can choose to eat in the dining room, or outside on the porch-like area. We had meatloaf w/mushroom gravy and Spaetzle (egg noodles, Deutschland style), and Goulash with Spaetzle & a garden salad. Washed down with mugs of lager & a Dünkel. All of it delish!

Das Bräuwastl ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist top, der Service ist grandios. Ich musste nur ein zwei kleineren Abstriche bei den Gerichten machen. Die Champignonssoße beim Jägerschnitzel hätte etwas mehr Rahm benötigt und das Salatdressing war nur gut, da fehlte mir tatsächlich etwas Raffinesse. 😉

"Hausmannskost" zu moderaten Preisen, serviert von einer sehr netten und aufmerksamen Kellnerin. Beim Schnitzel mit Champignonsoße hätte ich mehr Champignons erwartet als die welche ich vorfand.

We just arrived in Garmisch and it was close to supper time. Our group has a couple of finicky eaters and we were looking for an authentic German restaurant. We are so lucky that Gasthaus Brauwastl was within walking distance of Edelweiss. The Schnitzel was cooked perfectly and very delicious. My son had the roast pork and it was very good. There was only one waitress but she did wonderful. There is a lot of seating both inside and outside. We will definitely return.

Wir waren spontan dort zum Abendessen und haben im Biergarten gesessen. Freundliche und schnelle Bedienung, das Essen - wir hatten das Tagesgericht "Grillteller" - war auch gut. Deswegen haben wir noch den Apfelstrudel genommen.😋 Das Essen ist gute Hausmannskost, schmackhaft und auch preiswert.

Schöne Wirtschaft mit leckerem Essen und klasse Service. Hier kann man im Biergarten mal verhocken und Haxen sowie andere Bayrische Schmankerln genießen.

Das ist eine typisch bayerische Gaststätte mit einer eher kleinen Speisekarte, aber mit allem wichtigen und leckeren drauf. Jeden Tag noch tagesaktuelle Speisen extra. Sehr freundliche Kellnerin. Man wird promt und höflich bedient. Waren in den letzten Woche mehrfach dort und haben uns auf der Terrasse sehr wohl gefühlt. Kommen demnächst öfters. Ach ja....leckeres Bier.
