Very good food and served quickly, even though all tables were occupied. Very friendly service. There is a small game box for children.

We were here for dinner. The restaurant is very rustic and the staff is very friendly. The food was very tasty and a good portion size. Price-performance ratio is right here.

There were 3 of us eating there on Monday, which was the schnitzel day. The selection of schnitzels was very good and the other dishes were also very tasty 😋. We had 2 schnitzels and the roast venison with dumplings and red cabbage. A great meal at a very good price. Great ambience and very nice service. What can I say... Top restaurant with very fair prices. We tried many restaurants but we stuck with this one. Very nice service and all the food was really tasty. The beer is also recommended. A permanent address for us also for the future. Please keep it up, it's wonderful for you.

So here we are again, a year later. And what can I say, the food is still just amazing, great traditional food with a twist... the service is also sensational. You cover everything that has unfortunately been lost in the local culinary area over the years...keep it up...

The service was impeccable, the Schweinsbraten sauce was too thin. Sour cabbage, although I like it that way. The salmon is okay, it could use a little more lemon, but not everyone likes it that way. Pasta and vegetables served with salmon are very good! Unfortunately, I found a hair in the salmon. Other than that, okay, best regards.

Very good knuckle, and the trout is world class. Everything at super fair prices. Also worth mentioning is the extremely friendly service. If you ever find yourself in Englmar, you should definitely stop by here. Simply great. Update: We ate here again on January 2nd, 2019 and were thrilled again. Our friends who we took with us to Englmar for the first time are still raving about the knuckle. Although the restaurant was really full, it went quickly and both the staff and the landlady always found time for a nice word. It's a shame that I can only give it 5 stars 07/21/21 Update: Even after a few more visits, you can't find anything to complain about. On the contrary, the food is, as usual, great and the service is excellent. You can tell that hospitality is lived here and is not fake or fake. The ambience has improved again through new furnishings. It still looks traditional, but also friendly, bright and modern. Four times five stars for the Waidler and team from the Doppelkopf round from the Sauer and Bergisches Land. We had a lot of fun with you. The knuckles were particularly a hit. Definitely a recommendation!

Food very good. The waitress was alone and tried very hard to serve all the guests in her own way. We were on summer vacation with six people on a Tuesday in September. It was full, good thing we called shortly beforehand. The roast pork, the sausage salad, the Kaiserschmarrn and the pike perch were excellent.

We (two families) were on holiday in St. Englmar and had dinner here two days in a row. Was absolutely sensational! Extremely friendly service, unfortunately something you experience too rarely. The service was super friendly with our little kids.

We were there in the winter for a play. That was really cool. Now we've made up for it and eat there too. It was very tasty, we made another reservation for this holiday!

Update August 2024: We were in St. Englmar again and of course we visited our favorite restaurant, Gasthaus Bayerwald. We were allowed to be guests twice and felt very comfortable both times. Very nice welcome and great food. We had, among other things, knuckle (with advance order) but also a grilled plate and of course the obligatory Kaiserschmarrn. It's all really great and really fair prices. We can only congratulate the Schötz family on this great achievement and say thank you for allowing us to be your guests. See you soon family masters Another treat. We already know the inn from previous visits and have to say that the new ambience goes very well with the always friendly service and the great food. We always enjoy coming back. Keep it up

Fantastic food, very good handmade sauces and first-class roast pork. The dining room is modern and yet Bavarian-cozy and obviously recently renovated. And the service was very friendly. Very good price/performance ratio! Unfortunately, the website was confusing and misleading for me because it only lists takeout and pre-ordering and not a regular menu. So here's a note for holidaymakers: Here you can eat a la carte as normal.

Very good food. Service was courteous and very nice to our children. Great economy everything looked pretty new and modern too. Great value for money and there was also the right food for the children.

Excellent dinner, impeccable service that overcame the language barrier

We ended up here for dinner spontaneously and quite by chance and were absolutely thrilled. The food itself was excellent, the prices were more than reasonable, the two service staff were super nice and very attentive despite the tables being full. If the opportunity arises for us again, we would be happy to come back.

Wir waren am 12.07.24 dort. Eigentlich wollten wir in ein anderes Gasthaus gehen, jedoch wurden dort an dem Tag nur kalte Speisen angeboten. Da wir richtig Hunger hatten und das Gasthaus Bayerwald nur 15 km entfernt war, sind wir einfach hingefahren und hatten Glück dass wir auf dem kleinen Balkon noch einen Platz bekamen, weil drinnen alles belegt war. Wie bereits in der Überschrift erwähnt, war das Essen ausgezeichnet, die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam freundlich und flott und vom Preis her ging es auch. Alles in Allem wunderbar und dass an unserem 10. Hochzeitstag. Danke

We were guests as a Caritas district association with 220 travel participants - seniors and people with mental and physical disabilities. We can only express our greatest praise for the Schötz family and their employees! Very nice atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food and a place to feel good. "Large salad plate" - lettuce leaves carelessly thrown into the plate, not even chopped, and a few pieces of cucumber, pepper and tomato in a vinegar dip! And for an outrageous 11 euros! And then you have to listen to a saying when you ask for a vegan dish: "Well, vegaaan hommer needs, it's different somewhere else!" 👎😡

We were there out of season, it was just regulars' table and it filled the whole room with atmosphere, I think it was quite pleasant, food came quite quickly, I had a steak with wedges which was very well crafted, I can only recommend the restaurant for the price-performance ratio definitely fits

The Bayerwald is, apart from the Italian and the Weinstadel, almost the only restaurant in St. Englmar where you can stop off. All others are recommended or not! The food is excellent here in the Bavarian Forest and the service is in no way inferior. The only point of criticism is that when the inn is busy, it gets very loud and cramped. In some cases it was no longer possible to continue the conversation at our table.

We've been spending our winter holidays in St. Englmar for many years, but we haven't been to this inn yet, which is a real shame. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back. The food is incredibly delicious and the prices are reasonable. The service was very friendly.

Inn in the heart of the village. Traditionally oriented, but still keeping up with the times. There are classic dishes here that are reminiscent of old times - in a good way - and that replenish all your reserves after a long day in the fresh air! Now you could become a lumberjack! The whole family, three generations, are full and happy. The service was also particularly child-friendly. What more could you want? We'll be happy to come back again and again! Many many thanks!!!

Hallo, ich war nur bei einem Grasober'l Turnier, aber was ich da gesehen und erlebt habe war durchwegs positiv. Der Saal im unteren Bereich ist wirklich beeindruckend. Wie immer meine persönliche Meinung. Gegessen habe ich nichts daher kann ich darüber nichts sagen. Was ich allerdings von den anderen mitbekommen habe gab es bezüglich der Speisen nur positive Reaktionen.

Man sollte sich nicht immer nach der Google-Suche richten. Unter dem Sichbegriff "Restaurant" wurde dieses urige Gasthaus nicht aufgelistet. Unverständlich, denn alle Wünsche zu einem geselligen und bodenständigen Lokal zum Abend werden hier erfüllt. Freundlich begrüßt uns der Filius des Hauses und organisierte einen Tisch in der rustikal und nett eingerichteten Gaststube. Bestellung und schnell serviert. Leckere Biere der Falter-Provatbrauerei Regen und der Weltenburger Klosterbrauer (Weißbierbock im Seidel!) Und regionale Saftschorlen helfen uns gegen den Durst. Eine gut sortierte Speisekarte mit Fleisch, Fisch, Salaten, Dessert- und Kinderkarte macht die Auswahl schwer. Das Englmarer Steak und das Putensteak mit Süßkartoffelpommes beweisen, dass die Küche ihr Handwerk versteht. Am Stammtisch gibt es Rippchen, sehen auch toll aus! Der Preis ist angemessen und das Trinkgeld war es sicher auch. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Der Haxen war knusprig und sehr lecker auch die anderen Gericht waren gut. Sehr aufmerksam fand ich das wir die zweite Portion Pommes nicht bezahlen mussten, bei der erste hatte mein Mann sein Bier drüber verschüttet. Das Personal war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Gerne wieder zum Rippchen essen die sahen extrem lecker aus.

Am ersten Abend unseres Urlaubs in St. Englmar haben wir im Bayerwald telefonisch einen Tisch reserviert. Ein ganz gemütliches Gasthaus mit höflichem,freundlichen und sehr herzlichen Personal 👍 Das Essen super lecker und preislich total gut. Sehr empfehlenswert, zum Essen oder einfach zum gemütlichen Sitzen um das ein oder andere Getränk zu sich zunehmen.
