Small but fine menu, very good cuisine (despite the limited staff!), excellent service, cozy atmosphere, if a bit noisy, prices still reasonable - what more could you want? We'd love to come back.

Zum Stadtfest ist Schmalkalden teilweise ein Tollhaus. Die Suche nach einer ruhigen Ecke zum Speisen führte uns in das Restaurant "Zum Kirchhof". Direkt neben der Kirche und damit mitten im Geschehen und trotzdem sehr ruhig liegt diese traditionsreiche Gaststätte. Der Aussenbereich liegt schon schattig zwischen der Kirche und der Fachwerkfassade des Gasthofes. Das aufmerksame Personal war schnell mit der Karte zur Hand - zum Stadtfest gab es eine etwas reduzierte Karte. Die Karte ist übersichtlich und besteht vorrangig aus Hausmannskost. Das hier nach Omas Rezepten gekocht wird, glaube ich gerne. Das Personal ist erfahren und schnell. Am Besten wenn die "Oma" selber vorbeischaut. Die Frau ist eine Wucht. :) Die von mir bestellte Schüsselsülze war hausgemacht und sehr schmackhaft. Sehr gut finde ich, dass es die Wahl zwischen Remoulade und Essig/Zwiebeln als Beilage gibt. Die Bratkartoffeln waren etwas schwach gewürzt - aber dafür stehen ja Salz und Pfeffer zum nachwürzen auf dem Tisch. Das Bauernfrühstück wurde von meiner Begleitung innerhalb von vier Minuten verputzt - trotz guter Portion - ich glaub das ist ein gutes Zeichen. Die Wartezeiten waren bei dem großen Durchsatz mit weniger als 25 Minuten mehr als in Ordnung. Die Preise sind durchweg überschaubar. Preis-Leistung ist also sehr gut. Fazit: Empfehlenswerte Gaststätte mit leckerer, einfacher Küche und gutem Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

We did not stay in the hotel, but had an excellent dinner at the restaurant. We arrived in town in late afternoon and did not have a reservation for dinner. After being turned away by several places, we stopped by Hotel Sonne. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was delightful-offering recommendations when asked. I had one of the prettiest and freshest salads that I have ever been served! We enjoyed a delightful meal!

Anyone who takes offense to criticism has something to hide. The restaurant Zur Apotheke is a beautifully furnished restaurant in a prime location in Bautzen. My first visit, probably the last too. I read the menu board for baked potatoes with quark and tomato salad. Yummy, here we go. The first impression inside was good. Shortly after entering, the condition appeared and assigned us a table in the back of the restaurant. That's okay, of course. I was looking forward to the baked potato and ordered it as well as a soup with mushrooms as a starter. A short time after we ordered, the condition came back to the table and explained to me that unfortunately the potatoes were out and new ones had to be cooked first. I should find an alternative to eat. Phew... there were just 2 tables occupied and it was around 6:30 p.m. Why were there no potatoes available at this time? OK. Looking at the menu made it difficult for me to decide on another dish. For vegetarians there was only pasta with chanterelles. I finally asked the condition if there were boiled potatoes. This was confirmed to me by her. Okay, then I like to use boiled potatoes instead of the baked potato. I really didn't care whether the potato had the skin on or came out of the pot cooked. The answer: “He doesn’t do that, it doesn’t work.” I was speechless for a moment. Then it's just soup. Which felt like 30 minutes later and was brought in a cup (yes, I know it's a soup cup). The taste was okay but nothing more. A little parsley on top and a slice of toast would improve it significantly. But good. My suggestion when paying, to please tell the kitchen that in today's times the kitchen would benefit from a little more flexibility, was cut off with the message "that's the boss, I don't need to say anything. Please? It's a shame that in these times No matter how stubborn and backwards I am convinced that without the good location of the restaurant there would probably have to be a rethink. Please see it as a well-intentioned criticism.

Ambience is ok. A bit old. Even after asking three times, the service staff couldn't tell me whether there would be any food in the evening. The service staff ignored us several times when it came to drinks and only served the guests around us. We felt very unwanted. Personally, that was a bit suspicious for me, but it was probably due to the fact that there was an award ceremony for a bowling event on the day of the visit and the catering probably only took place as part of the named event. After about 40 minutes of waiting without being served, we decided to go to another restaurant. Unfortunately, I can't understand the positive reviews after what happened to us.

Monday schnitzel day! (reservation required) Super tasty and the price is right too.

It was wonderful! Went there with the family to celebrate my birthday. I can't get rid of the delicious taste. Had “Lea’s favorite”! Everyone was very happy with the food. Great salad bar too. We definitely have to go there again!
