You can have really good Chinese food in Golden Town. The furnishings are a bit older, but very well maintained and typically Chinese. The service staff is very friendly. We chose duck. The food was great! The duck is crispy, the vegetables are fresh and crunchy and plenty of rice on the side. If you want to eat really good Chinese food and don't want to “enjoy” the buffet options, you should definitely go to Golden Town - absolutely recommended.
I had dinner here with my friend and I have to admit that the interior design was very traditional. Like at home, very pleasant. The service was very nice and accommodating. The ambience was very surprising unlike others as I didn't expect that there were aperitifs and digestifs for example. (Not available to every Asian)
The food was a lot (for me) but very tasty, like in my childhood.
Conclusion: A very nice and traditional restaurant, the service was very nice, the atmosphere was excellent and the food was very tasty.
Quite good Cantonese food to satisfy the cravings. The crispy pork belly was a tiny bit dry. Really enjoyed the crispy prawns and the steamed fish. Good for sharing as a big group
One of the last Chinese restaurants in Bochum, as we know them from before. No buffet or BBQ, no show or “car dealership flair”, just delicious dishes and reasonable portions. I can only recommend it!
Ming Fat offers authentic Chinese and Thai cuisine. The restaurant itself is characterized by a traditional Asian atmosphere and friendly service. The food itself is of good quality, the portions are large and the prices are acceptable. We'd love to come back.
Today (February 3, 2025) the restaurant was closed, it is being renovated, the "Panda" sign is gone, no indication of reopening or moving... what a shame! Who knows more?
Another real Chinese restaurant with excellent cuisine, no comparison with these "Asian train stations" in the area where the food is always overcooked, the food is fresh and sumptuous and even cheap, there is nothing to complain about, and the service is also very friendly. We would be happy to come back.
No consumption on site, only pickup behind the house. My (vegetarian) vegetable noodles tasted like fish. Aside from the fishy taste, I didn't taste anything else. There was no salt and no other spice to taste. In addition, €10.30 for a plate of pasta with some vegetables is extremely expensive, especially if it doesn't taste good. It was the first and last time for me!
Positive:
Food warm and ready on time
That's about it
Negative
The duck was gristly
Small spring rolls look and taste like they come from the supermarket.
The rice lacked salt.
But the worst thing was the sweet/sour sauce, I have no idea what it was supposed to be like. The taste is totally wrong, like a finished product.
Restaurant prices at snack quality
Definitely won't come again, as we know much better Asian restaurants.
The good reviews are absolutely incomprehensible, over €50 for the bin.
