Lovely outdoor dining with friendly service. I had the best potato salad ever here, which is an odd thing to highlight. I had meatballs that were fine but nothing to write home about. My husband had baby back ribs advertised as short ribs, so that was a surprise. Maybe a translation error because I saw it at other restaurants that way also. We liked it enough to recommend it.

Semplicemente ottimo !!! Locale piccolo ma molto carino in centro a Monaco dove abbiamo mangiato le famose polpette. Ottime sia quelle di carne che quelle alle verdure, il tutto completato con un ottimo servizio. Sicuramente da ritornarci !!!

Petit restaurant extraordinaire! Déco très sympa et intimiste, serveur en tenue traditionnelle et très aimable. Pétillants aux fruits très savoureux et à tarif très correct. Nous sommes tombés sous le charme des Pflanzerl que nous ne connaissions pas : ceux au poulet notamment, et la salade de pommes de terre très bien assaissonnée. Nous avons passé une très agréable première soirée!

Food was good but the lady was so angry, so difficult, so unhappy to work with I had to try to charm her into getting her to take my order. There is no excuse for rude angry service when you are charging sky high tourist prices. Again food was good but service was absolutely terrible. You need to understand in the high season where you make all of your money you are probably going to be busier. I work in the hospitality profession myself and there is no excuse for rude angry service period.

Hospitality is very important here! The Kaiserschmarn takes 30-60 minutes but is worth every minute. The best Kaiserschmarn ever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Whenever we are in Munich we stop by the Zwickl at the Viktualienmarkt. The food is great, small beer garden in front of the restaurant, a reservation is always good here, top service.

If you are looking for "typical" Bavarian, with beer and "sausage" this is it.

Absolutely great...but please only with reservation....everything else can be seen in my pictures from there...

This restaurant should be included in the best places to eat near Marienplatz. Affordable prices too and super attentive and friendly waiter. Would definitely come back!

Die Bedienung war zu Beginn sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, der Hauptgang war schmackhaft. Zum Abschluss bestellten wir einen Kaiserschmarrn - was dann gebracht wurde war alles, aber kein Kaiserschmarrn: dicke, nicht durchgegarte (pampige) Stücke . Nachdem wir dies freundlich anmerkten, war es mit der Freundlichkeit der Bedienung dahin, die Antwort, die wir erhielten: wir machen den Kaiserschmarrn eben anders. Ein weiteres Gespräch war leider nicht möglich. Sehr schade …..

Very nice salat and cozy and quite

Loved the experience! We were a group of 8. Great food, service and ambiente (cozy, traditional, yet friendly place with lots of daylight and windows). Backhendl Pflanzerl (home made like all their Pflanzerl) were delicious, just like the Kaiserschmarrn (see pics). Everyone else enjoyed their food, too. Multiple options for vegetarians.

Super tasty, large portions, reasonable prices. The vegetarian spinach dumpling carpaccio with truffle paste was incredible. The veal patties are also a bomb.

Quaint pub, down-to-earth food. We were more than satisfied.

Good food and friendly staff until our little daughter became a little louder and more lively while playing at the table. Not that the restaurant is a 5 star restaurant and everyone speaks in hushed tones. It was incredibly loud. Unfortunately, the innkeeper and the waitress talked a little too loudly about the fact that our daughter's behavior had previously been criticized. And rightly so. Quote from the waitress: “That didn’t hurt anyone.” Anyone who makes such statements has, at best, never experienced violence themselves and if they have, it has obviously caused harm. A restaurant that glosses over violence against children definitely doesn't deserve a recommendation.

Eigentlich war ursprünglich ein Besuch in einem anderen Restaurant in der Nähe beabsichtigt. Aber ein Blick in die Bewertungen bei Tripadvisor ließ mich zurückschrecken und eine andere Wahl treffen. Die fiel auf das Zwickl. Etwas zurückgesetzt vom Viktualienmarkt. Von innen eher der Typ einer gemütlichen Eckkneipe mit großem Tresen und etlichen Holztischen. Von außen mit ungewöhnlich großen Halbrundbogenfenstern, die viel Licht reinlassen. Es gab drei preiswerte Mittagsgerichte, davon zwei vegetarische und eine kleine Tageskarte. Aus dieser sprachen uns die Spargelgerichte an. Sowohl das Spargelrisotto einschließlich des Beilagensalates als auch die Spargelsuppe waren ausgesprochen köstlich. Die Angaben auf der website, dass beste Zutaten und natürliche Aromen verwendet werden kann nur zugestimmt werden. Der freundliche Wirt sowie die Bedienung taten ein übriges, zusammen mit der dezenten Musik der 70-90er Jahre, dass wir uns hier wohlgefühlt haben.

ZWICKL The taste of the food is at a medium level. What I like and am impressed with is pumpkin soup. Actually, I ate more dishes than this but I was very hungry. For lunch on Saturday, I forgot to reserve a restaurant. Hardly able to find anything to eat, every shop is full. I came across this restaurant that had a free table. It is considered possible to give birth. Some dishes will taste quite salty. (But personally, I feel that most German food is quite salty. Good service staff, various recommendations The shop has a cute atmosphere.

Super fast - super tasty - super nice. Conclusion: highly recommended. Had the beef goulash - probably the best I've ever eaten. But the potato soup was also sensational.

On the last day of our Munich vacation, we spontaneously decided to have dinner at Zwickel. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very cozy and the service was very friendly. If we had already eaten there on the first day, we would certainly have repeated it. Clear recommendation from me.

It was recommended to me at work and I went straight away. There were three of us and the food came very quickly and the portions were really good so you really get something for your money. In addition to the quantity, the quality was also good, the food was very tasty, the service was very friendly, the look of the restaurant was very harmonious and the funny highlight was the toilet. Here you will be treated... (or will you not?...) If you order a cut (we have half light beer and the other half dark beer) you will only get half a beer for a few cents cheaper! Addendum: Apparently it's something "common" in the area and that's how it's done (but I still don't understand why, who orders a beer that consists of 80% foam!?), but the reviews still remain The waiter's reaction wasn't really right! I explained to him what I wanted and making improvements wouldn't have been a problem! He said you've just learned something now and I just feel like I've been ripped off...!

While the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, I must mention a significant drawback regarding the menu. Regrettably, two out of the three dishes we ordered turned out to be spicy, with no prior indication on the menu. This oversight can be particularly challenging for individuals who cannot consume spicy food. Clear labeling of spice levels on the menu would greatly benefit customers and prevent any unpleasant surprises during their dining experience.

A nice little restaurant on the Viktualienmarkt that can be recommended without hesitation. The goulash here tastes really good and fills you up, and that also applies to the cheese spaetzle. The staff is attentive and friendly. This was definitely not the last visit.

This restaurant is marked by "Z". It's a small restaurant and popular, so it's best to make a reservation. The starter is a Bavarian platter with 10 types of prosciutto, salami, and cheese, all of which are delicious and filling.

After regular visits to the Zwickl, I now manage to give it a well-deserved review. The food always tasted delicious and fresh, was beautifully prepared and when you look into the kitchen you can tell that everything is cooked with love. I don't even need to start with the staff. A dream! Extremely accommodating and super nice, you can only feel comfortable there :) I can only recommend it!!

Wir sind hier eigentlich wegen den Kasspatzn hergekommen und diese waren herausragend. Spontan haben wir dann aber auch die Kalbsfleischpflanzerl in Trüffelrahmsoße mit Kartoffel-/Karottenstampf von der Tageskarte bestellt - zum Glück!!!!!!!! Das waren die besten Fleischpflanzerl die wir jemals irgendwo probieren durften - unf.uckingfassbar. Es ist alles super frisch und wir hätten uns in beide Teller reinlegen können. Die Portionen sind riesig, allein der Beilagensalat bei den Spätzle ist von höchster Qualität (kein reiner billig Blattsalat) und so groß wie eine Hauptspeisensalat in anderen Restaurants. Die Creme Brûlée mit frischen Früchten zum Nachtisch war auch äußerst fein. Für die Größe und Qualität der Speisen ist der Preis absolut angemessen. Der Service ist super lieb und herzlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben uns vorgenommen, die gesamte Speisekarte durchzuprobieren und werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Sehr kleines süßes Restaurant. Es gibt zwar nicht so viel Auswahl, aber es war super lecker. Hatten das Schweinegulasch, den Fleischpflanzerl, die Käsespätzle und das Tagesgericht den Backfisch. Sehr gerne wieder. Das einige was mir fehlt ist hier noch was beim Dessert. Es gibt nur Creme brülee und Kaiserschmarrn. Vielleicht noch ne Bayrisch Creme und dann wäre top.

Gemütliches, bayerisches in der Münchner Innenstadt. In nächster Nähe zum Viktualienmarkt. Wir hatten das Glück im Oktober mittags draußen essen zu können. Herrlich ruhig! Prima finde ich die Tagesgerichte, die lecker sind und unschlagbar im Preis.

Restaurante pequeño con comida tipica de babiera. Platos abundantes, todos con su acompañamiento, de sabores suaves y riquisimos. Esta escondido detras de viktualienmarkt, si no te fijas no lo ves, pero te perderas una experiencia mas que agradable. El servicio es muy amable, y te sirven los platos muy rapido! Es un restaurante muy tranquilo e intimo, estando al lado del centro de munchen! Super recomendable.

Siamo stati a cena in questo ristorante nei pressi del mercato una sera dello scorso agosto e ci siamo trovati discretamente bene. Il locale è piuttosto piccolo ed arredato in maniera semplice. Il menù è incentrato su vari tipi di polpette, noi ne abbiamo assaggiate di tre tipi diversi e le più buone si sono rivelate quelle classiche di carne mentre mi sono sembrate un po' meno appaganti come gusto quelle al formaggio e con spinaci. Molto buone le zuppe che abbiamo preso come entrée, discreti i vini che ci sono stati consigliati. Servizio direi essenziale e prezzi nella media. Un locale da tenere in considerazione per assaggiare qualcosa di diverso, rispetto ai classici menù proposti dalle innumerevoli birrerie.

Käsespätzle und Salat im Zwickl getestet. Waren sehr gut und der Salat dazu top. Geschmack 1 A. Preislich völlig ok für die Portion und die Qualität und dann auch noch die Lage mitten in der Stadt.

Cibo buono e ambiente tranquillo. Le porzioni dei secondi sono abbondanti mentre quelle dei dolci meno. Le polpette assolutamente da assaggiare, sono il loro cavallo di battaglia. Personale cortese.

OMG! The roast pork is the best pork dish I have ever had! That includes bacon in the equation! It was on the daily menu (not the standard menu). If you visit and you see it on the daily menu, you MUST order it. Great waiters and ambience is a plus. However, I would let them punch me in the face for this pork.

Lovely meal near the market and Marienplatz. We had the ginger carrot soup and the goulash. Great food and service. We were able to eat outside as well.

Cute little sidewalk café where we had a wonderful lunch. My grilled veggie couscous salad was outstanding, so much flavor! My husband also enjoyed his pork meatloaf with horseradish potato salad.

Ich will nicht lügen, das Essen war super. Aber: uns wurde eine Planzerl-platte für zwei empfohlen (ca. 30 Euro). Das klang nach einem guten Angebot. Leider war die Platte A) zu viel Essen für uns und B) viel zu teuer, da es 30 Euro pro person war und nicht wie ich es gewohnt war als einzelpreis (den mal durch zwei teilt). Ja es stand so in der Karte aber da hätte die Bedienung vielleicht drauf hinweisen können, zumal es mit 60 Euro sogar teurer war als wenn wir DREI pflanzerl-Gerichte separat bestellt hätten, was zur Verwirrung beigetragen hatte und kaum Sinn ergibt.

Hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent & there was a specials board too which was explained to us on arrival. Best to book in advance if you are able. We had a lovely evening and absolutely no complaints at all.

My wife and I have struggled when we travel to find a restaurant with food to satisfy both of us. The chef at Zwickle was amazing. We ordered the Goat Cheese salad that was superb and Beetroot Dumpling dish that was excellent. We ended up switching plates so we could enjoy both dishes together. What a wonderful meal we had and the ambiance was just what one would expect in old Munich…quiet and cozy with a super vibe. Overall a great evening and experience.

Giving them two starts only because the food is tasty. Waitress is rude towards tourist and does not speak English, although it seems as she understands it. It would be great if workers at such touristy places realise no one is obligated to speak German.

Das gemütliche Restaurant liegt am Viktualienmarkt und ist für seine große Auswahl an unterschiedlichen Sorten Fleischpflanzerln (Frikadellen ) bekannt. Die Bedienung ist nett, aufmerksam und sehr schnell. Die Preise sind moderat.
