Wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe dort, 21 Personen. Wir hatten sehr frühzeitig reserviert, sonst ist es am Wochenende schwierig, da es drinnen nicht sehr viele Plätze gibt. Mega freundliche Bedienung und absolut tolles Essen. Jederzeit einen Besuch wert! Danke für den schönen Abend!👍👍👍🥳

Sehr lecker. Die Käsespätzle sind sehr zu empfehlen. An Samstagen gibt es viel Ansturm - da sollte man lieber reservieren. Jedoch kann man Abends ab 20/21 Uhr auch Glück haben, wenn die Meisten schon zu Abend gegessen haben.

Traditionelle Speisen mit einem modernen Twist und tolle Lage in einer Seitenstraße des Viktualienmarktes.

Zunächst skeptisch wegen der auf Pflanzerl ausgerichteten Karte hat sich das Lokal zum richtigen Schmankerl entpuppt. Die Vorspeise war lecker und hatte die richtige Größe. Wurde geteilt. Die Hauptspeise war ebenfalls köstlich. Als Nachtisch gabs auch noch Kaiserschmarrn (wiederum geteilt). Die Köchin macht das mit Leidenschaft. Das hat man gemerkt. Es gibt sogar eine glutenfreie Karte. Das haben wir mitbekommen, weil Gäste neben uns danach fragten. Sie wurden sogar umfangreich von der Köchin beraten. Die Lage ist abseits vom Trouble. Das war richtig angenehm. Wir konnten draußen sitzen. Das war gut. Einziger Wermutstropfen: draußen darf geraucht werden. Das kann stören und mag nicht jeder.

Das Essen war sehr gut und für die zentrale Lage preiswert. Der Zwiebelröstbraten war zart, lecker und die Portion großzügig. Das Pflanzerl mit Brathendl schmeckte frisch und wurde mit einer schmackhaften Soße und Senf serviert. Das Personal war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Toiletten waren sauber und versprühten den Charme einer bayerischen Alm – Kuhgeräusche inklusive 😁

Gastlichkeit wird hier groß geschrieben! Der Kaiserschmarn dauert zwar 30-60min ist aber jede Minute wert. The best Kaiserschmarn ever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Immer, wenn wir in München sind schauen wir im Zwickl am Viktualienmarkt vorbei. Das Essen ist großartig, kleiner Biergarten vor dem Restaurant, eine Reservierung ist hier immer gut, top Service.

Selten so einen guten Service erlebt, sehr herzlich und aufmerksam. Speisen und Bier 1a, klare Empfehlung!

Das Essen ist gut, der Service freundlich – bis die Rechnung kommt. Der Kellner besteht auf 10 % Trinkgeld und bittet darum, den Betrag von 170 € auf 200 € aufzurunden. Er runzelt die Stirn, als wir 12 € geben. Ich kann das Restaurant nicht empfehlen. Viele andere traditionelle Restaurants haben freundliche Kellner, die nicht nach Trinkgeld fragen.

Das Kalbsschnitzel war köstlich, die Atmosphäre sehr schön. Die Dame an der Bar war sehr hilfsbereit.

Wir waren auf dem Markt und suchten ein gemütliches Lokal zum Essen. Wir bestellten Schnitzel und Gulasch, dazu ein Bier und Bitter Lemon. Wir setzten uns in eine Ecke. Wir waren etwas besorgt, da die Speisekarte sehr klein und die Preise nicht gerade günstig waren. Das Essen war jedoch hervorragend. Perfekt gewürzt. Die Portionen waren genau richtig. Die Spätzle waren perfekt. Wir hatten nichts zu beanstanden. Wir haben unser Mittagessen sehr genossen. Vielen Dank.

Wir waren abends im ZWICKL – Gastlichkeit am Viktualienmarkt und hatten insgesamt eine durchwachsene Erfahrung. Die Atmosphäre ist lebendig und passt gut zur Lage am Viktualienmarkt. Es war viel los, entsprechend trubelig, was grundsätzlich auch seinen Charme hat. An diesem Abend wirkte der Service allerdings etwas unter Druck und nicht immer ganz souverän, was bei dem hohen Gästeaufkommen nachvollziehbar ist. Die Biere wurden sehr schaumig eingeschenkt, was den Genuss etwas getrübt hat. Es war nichts Dramatisches, aber auch nicht optimal gelöst. Beim Essen war der Kaiserschmarrn leider nicht so, wie man ihn erwartet: nicht luftig, sondern innen noch recht weich und dadurch geschmacklich nicht überzeugend. Da es bereits später am Abend war, haben wir auf eine Reklamation verzichtet. Insgesamt blieb der Eindruck eines Abends, der in Ordnung war, aber hinter den Erwartungen zurückblieb. Unterm Strich ein Ort mit angenehmer Grundstimmung und guter Lage, der an diesem Abend jedoch weder kulinarisch noch im Service seine Stärken voll ausspielen konnte.

Gemütlicher Ort mit gutem Essen

Ein sehr herzlicher Empfang und köstliche, großzügige Portionen. Der Speisesaal war einladend und geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Spontaner Besuch mit Kind unter 1 Jahr alt, Kind wurde bespaßt, es war alles Perfekt. Was keine Kritik ist, aber das Lokal fanden wir sehr klein.

Der Service und das Essen waren größtenteils sehr gut. Besonders positiv hervorheben möchte ich den Hauptgang – wirklich hervorragend! Leider konnte der Kaiserschmarrn nicht überzeugen. Er war sehr kompakt und nicht so fluffig, wie man es sich wünschen würde. Insgesamt dennoch ein angenehmer Besuch, aber beim Dessert gibt es Verbesserungspotenzial.

Unglaublich leckere Pflanzerl (Backhendl und Bergkäse)

We were there for the Christmas dinner. The main courses were very tasty. However, the dessert, especially the Kaiserschmarrn, is absolutely not recommended; it was swimming in grease, and the batter was raw. Many of our colleagues had stomach problems after eating it. When we politely pointed out that it wasn't good, we were completely brushed off and told that it was made that way in Munich. I have never eaten such a disastrous Kaiserschmarrn before.

Nice nostalgic old place. Except for salad, dishes on menu may not suit most odinary asian travellers. The male waiter can be quite cold. Prices on the higher side.

Zwickl is a great discovery in the center of Munich. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service and very well prepared traditional Bavarian dishes. The meats and sauces are excellent, and the menu is varied without losing authenticity. A highly recommended option for good food at a good price.

We just happened to be passing by! Very cozy. The food was also very tasty. Perfect mustard for every dish. Very good.

Five of us spontaneously stopped by this afternoon. The restaurant is a relaxed size, and unlike most other restaurants in Munich, the noise level is different here – you can finally have a normal conversation! The ambiance is modern and cozy. The service staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food came quickly, was very tasty, and the portions were really generous. Excellent value for money, and the location right next to the Viktualienmarkt is also fantastic. Since I'm often in Munich, I'll definitely come back!

We heard they have the best cheese spaetzle in Munich, and what can I say? They were the best. Served with a side salad, it was simply fantastic. So good, in fact, that we tried the lunch special a second time during our time in Munich. We had the meatballs with creamy potato and broccoli for just 11.90. This, too, was pure enjoyment and delight. You should definitely make a reservation in the evening.

The German sausages are so delicious, and the meat stew is really salty, sweet, and sour. If you eat it all and take a bite of the noodle-like thing on the side, it'll help with your hangover, but you'll want to drink. Of course, the beer is delicious. Was it hell...? I had two glasses of the same thing. It wasn't noisy, and it was great for chatting. I was incredibly satisfied with my first meal in Germany!

Whenever I'm in Munich, I always enjoy going to Zwickl. The food is delicious (be sure to try the meatballs!), the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed and uncomplicated. I definitely recommend it.

The food was extremely delicious and plentiful. It was busy and the team looked after guests both inside and outside. It's understandable if you don't immediately look at a table with every course, but when you do, they took their time and we felt comfortable.

We met there as a surprise birthday party. (Please note: we traveled from Darmstadt and Weinheim!) The choice of location was absolutely perfect. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented! The price is also really reasonable. The selection of dishes offers something for everyone and offers several (positive) surprises... you should definitely check out the "special offers"! The service is exemplary: always attentive and very fast. The ambiance also makes you feel really comfortable. Absolutely fantastic for a tourist city like Munich! The outdoor terrace in the green is also very beautiful... unfortunately, we had bad weather (it poured). Our recommendation: make a reservation in advance. Please stay and keep up the good work. We will definitely be back.

Really good food, Bavarian with a modern twist, plenty of vegetarian options, a lovely dining room, and a nice little beer garden. And don't forget the cool restroom 😉

Typical Bavarian small restaurant with tables outside on a pedestrian street and delicious dishes...the service is generally good but not excellent...the bread they bring for free is white, the most common one you find everywhere, which is unacceptable for a German and especially Bavarian restaurant. We asked for extra water and they refused to bring it, implying that we would have to buy bottled water.

Great place to eat typical Bavarian food

The food was generous and good, altough the Kasespatzle was blander than I expected. The problem for us was the service - the waiter was borderline rude. My mom asked if they had real Coke and he answered something in a mocking way like "no, we're in Germany" so they only had that Fritz Cola (that she doesn't like because it tastes like flat Coke). He kept speaking German to us although we apologetically said we only spoke French or English. I also "dared" to ask for tap water and it was a categorical "no" as well, so we paid 6.20 EUR for a 75cl bottle of water, and suprise, we saw after on the menu that there was actually tap water that was still expensive but less than the mineral water. The restaurant is in a very touristic spot but it felt like they didn't like tourists and we were just 4 Canadian women, probably not the worst guests they could have!

Absolutely horrible experience! We wanted to go for dinner, however the stuff said to us that you have to book in advance to be seated and they are full. We went away and decided to check if we can book a table. We booked a table, came back and the stuff was extremely rude and said that we can’t be seated if we booked just now. Why then we were able to book a table online if you can’t seat us? I hope this will be changed and if you can’t give a table to your guests, they can’t book the one online. The stuff is a face of the place and even if the food is good according to reviews, this ‘hospitality’ can ruin everything.

I finally made it! After a long wait, I finally got to visit this special restaurant – and what can I say? It's an absolute highlight from the outside, and at least as impressive from the inside. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making you feel immediately welcome. The food? A solid 10 out of 10 – every bite is a delight. And as if that weren't enough, the kind soul in the kitchen perfectly rounds off the experience. You can immediately feel how much passion goes into this place. I'd definitely love to come back!

An absolute stroke of luck! The manager, her daughter, and the entire staff are incredibly warm and friendly – you immediately feel welcome. The side salad was enormous – it could easily have been enough for me as a main course – and honestly, it was the best salad I've ever eaten! So fresh, so delicious, perfectly balanced. The cheese spaetzle were not only a generous portion, but also tasted fantastic – creamy, flavorful, simply perfect. Small restaurant at the Viktualienmarkt. We had a reservation (luckily) and had a great meal (Obazda, schnitzel, salad, fried chicken with 'Pasta'). To finish, we ordered Kaiserschmarrn, which was huge and incredibly delicious. Very friendly service!

Good food, vegan and vegetarian options clearly marked. The menu was also available in English. The salads looked delicious and fresh. I would remove the Kaiserschmarrn from the menu, as it was neither fluffy nor caramelized as advertised and tasted mostly of egg yolk. I don't want tourists to assume you actually eat that kind of thing as a dessert in Bavaria/Austria.

Very friendly, attentive staff. I had the lunch special, Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings) with brown butter and a side salad, along with three small, sample-sized draft beers. Everything was delicious. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the salad was nice and fresh, crisp, and very generous. Finally, a side salad that doesn't just consist of three token leaves with flowers on top. Highly recommended!

Lovely Bavarian restaurant with innovative vegetarian options. Loved the beetroot knodel! It's tucked away in a quiet corner behind viktualienmarkt making a nice escape from exploring Munich centre.

Delicious food. However, we found the portion of Kaiserschmarren to be way too large (it felt like it was for 4 people) and too doughy. We prefer it toasted/crispier. ✌🏼

The food was absolutely incredible! We were totally surprised! If you eat there, you should definitely try the truffled mashed potatoes. We had it with veal patties and creamed carrots. The combination was amazing. The dishes on the menu are all extravagant and absolutely fresh!

THE BEST kaiserschmarrn in the world. We literally travelled back to Munich to have this once more. It’s that good. It was just as good the second time round. I hope it never changes. The rest of the food is also phenomenal btw.

Food here was extremely extremely tasty. Some people may find it too salty. I was borderline ok with it, but I personally like salty. The spaetzle was magnificent. An explosion of taste. Also very filling. After that you will likely crave a digestive or something fresh (like a gelato) to wash out the intensity. The portion of salad they gave us was at the very least "abundant", with a generous amount of dressing. The toilets proved to be an experience. Almost like an unexpected rural inspired themed park, with decorations echoing a grass field and nature sounds.

A must-visit for me on every visit to Munich! They have (in my opinion) the best Käsespätzle in all of Munich. A truly great place if you're looking for something a little quieter and more intimate—without the large-scale cafeteria feel that many other restaurants in the city center unfortunately have. Küche sehr fein, Sonderwünsche werden unkompliziert berücksichtigt. Lieblingsgericht: das FAST Pflanzerl. Wir kommen wieder, ganz sicher. Wirklich zu empfehlen.

A real insider tip at the Viktualienmarkt! The menu is outstanding – especially the meat patties, which are simply perfect. Everything is prepared fresh and with a lot of love. You can tell that this is a family business that values ​​tradition and quality. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is very friendly. I ended up here by accident because the place I was planning on going was full and that ended up being the best luck. It was crowded, but I was seated and served very quickly. The meatballs were delicious as was the salad. The portion sizes are extremely generous. Loved eating here and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. I don’t think I’d get the creme brulee again though- the texture was far too dense dor my taste.

We were really looking forward to staying at the “Zwickl”. The slogan on the outside advertising: “Hospitality at the Viktualienmarkt” initially appealed to us very much. Unfortunately, the waiter answered our polite question about whether there was still a free table in an extremely unfriendly manner, without looking at us and extremely arrogantly: "No!" Due to this audacity, we professionally rescheduled.

Sat outside in great spring weather. Simply great, cozy and rustic. The menu is clever, the meatballs are legendary. The service is fit and attentive, even when it's busy. We really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next time.

The Zwickl in Munich is really an insider tip! Right on the Viktualienmarkt, but still somehow cozy and relaxed. You immediately notice that it is a family business - the service is super friendly and you just feel at home. The meat planter is amazing! Really crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and simply perfectly seasoned. A real Bavarian original! Plus a freshly tapped beer – easy, ice cold and really tasty. Exactly what you want from a good pub. The atmosphere here is super relaxed - you don't have to sit in a crowded, touristy shop, you can just enjoy good food in peace. Whether for lunch or an after-work beer, Zwickl is the perfect spot.

Business lunch near Marienplatz, always a thing. The gastronomy is optimized for tourists, which is not a compliment. But there are a few gems in the alleys away from the Viktualienmarkt. The ZWICKL is one of them. Stylish atmosphere, staff sensationally friendly, food top. The Kaiserschmarrn is possibly the best in town.

Stylish Munich restaurant with good beer and finely balanced food. There were four of us (actually just drinking beer) and we had four different dishes. All were tasty and solid. The service was charming, authentic and professional.
