ZWICKL - Gastlichkeit am Viktualienmarkt in München

Very nice, smaller, cozy brewery. The interaction was very courteous and accommodating. All dishes were very tasty! The planter with spinach, the Wiener schnitzel, the fast planter and the chickpea curry were great! Beer 🍺 anyway! We'd love to come back!

A really nice, cozy, rustic Munich pub with excellent planters (Zwickl Reindl for 2 people), the best place at the bar & attentive staff! Be sure to reserve a table (Fri/Sat), even for just 2 people! Always my pleasure!

No hice una reserva y caminó desde Viktualienmarket a este lugar secundario aislado. El pequeño restaurante en el interior fue reservado para un evento y fuera de los límites. Decidimos desafiar los asientos al aire libre. Mesa de madera, sin tela. El servicio era lento y poco atento: estaban ocupados sirviendo a la fiesta privada en interiores. La comida del menú de estilo alemán era sabrosa. Debe comer: Pflanzerl = albóndigas Volvería a cenar dentro.

Eine authetische location, die noch original bayrisch daherkommt. Sowohl was die charmante Innenausstattung, als auch die Karte angeht. Der Service war gut, freundlich und konnte auch mit Kindern. Das Essen war sehr gut, das Bier auch. Eine willkommene Abwechslung von all den überzüchteten Food-Event-Locations.

Nice and clean restaurant. I was very stress out because I don’t speak German but the waiter was patient and polite, he knew a few words in English and I use google translator. It worked out somehow and the food I ordered was delicious.

¡Este pequeño restaurante tiene un puñetazo! Estaba un poco renuente a pedir los dumplings porque los había encontrado demasiado pesados en el pasado. Pero la camarera sugirió los dumplings especiales así que me fui. Y no me decepcionó. Las albóndigas tenían una textura encantadora con queso derretido mezclado y se servían en una cama de setas mantequilla. Simplemente delicioso!

If you want to eat typical Bavarian food, this is the place! Simply the best Schnitzel I've ever eaten! Very good! And my wife’s choice was also delicious!😋 I suggest it to top off the crème brûlée to finish with a “golden key”!

Went there purely based on atmosphere and it was close to our hotel. DO NOT order the carrot and ginger soup. Rarely have I ordered something in a restaurant that I couldn’t eat. It was spicy in a bad way - pure black pepper. A good way to get an ulcer started. My husband ordered the meatloaf that had the texture of spam. The waitress was not interested in the fact that I didn’t eat my dinner. They’re not the nicest of people either but I’m a southern girl from the U.S. so I’m accustomed to nice people. Guess I need to lower my expectations.

Favorite place for Nuringberg Schweinwurstli. Small sausages with a little spice in them. Very reasonable and great service from a waiter I've known for years. Never miss a stop here when visiting Munich.

We had the sausage platter and salad with potato goat cheese dumpling. The dumpling was unique - in a good way. And the balsamic dressing is also good. The sausage was just ok...the sauerkraut is the best my partner had amongst 7 German cuisine restaurants we've tried. And OMG the truffle potato soup is a must. Seems slightly pricier.

A cozy bar restaurant with Bavarian cuisine in downtown Munich. Very nice and delicious traditional dishes. The beetroot soup was really nice and different. Very nice schnitzel and meatballs. Friendly and welcoming staff and a broad range of drinks were also available. Highly recommended!!

Tenía albóndigas que estaban bien, pero nada que escribir en casa. Mi marido tenía costillas traseras anunciadas como costillas cortas, así que eso fue una sorpresa. Tal vez un error de traducción porque lo vi en otros restaurantes de esa manera también. Nos gustó lo suficiente como para recomendarlo.

We came on a beautiful summer evening and sat outside by (albeit electric) candlelight, very nice in this setting on the small, quiet square in the immediate vicinity of the Viktualienmarkt. The friendly waiter thankfully advised us against an appetizer with our Planterl-Tris, otherwise we would have to be "rolled out" - very nice! The planters themselves were very good, only the spinach cheese had a little bit of spinach. Conclusion: Atmosphere, food and drinks satisfied us more than at the more expensive competition 300 m away.

Extremely rude staff. We walked away from restaurant due to how rude the waiter was on arrival.

We were there spontaneously today, completely by chance without a reservation, but we were really lucky that the two of us got a place. We really wanted to eat the Kaiserschmarren because we were craving something sweet. We haven't eaten something so delicious anywhere before, so I have to say, it wasn't the first nor the last time. It's definitely worth the 30 minute wait, not only does it taste super delicious but it's also a huge portion. We watched the other guests' food and everything looked damn good! We'll be back very soon but this time with a reservation with friends and a full program from starter, main course to dessert, see you soon, thank you for your lovely service 👍🏻 we felt very comfortable

Posizione centrale per questo ristorante di cucina tipica bavarese. Il cibo è ottimo, diverso dalle solite birrerie della zona. Ottime le polpette/“balls” di carne e verdura. Servizio veloce e personale molto gentile.

Petit restaurant extraordinaire! Déco très sympa et intimiste, serveur en tenue traditionnelle et très aimable. Pétillants aux fruits très savoureux et à tarif très correct. Nous sommes tombés sous le charme des Pflanzerl que nous ne connaissions pas : ceux au poulet notamment, et la salade de pommes de terre très bien assaissonnée. Nous avons passé une très agréable première soirée!

Food was good but the lady was so angry, so difficult, so unhappy to work with I had to try to charm her into getting her to take my order. There is no excuse for rude angry service when you are charging sky high tourist prices. Again food was good but service was absolutely terrible. You need to understand in the high season where you make all of your money you are probably going to be busier. I work in the hospitality profession myself and there is no excuse for rude angry service period.

Hospitality is very important here! The Kaiserschmarn takes 30-60 minutes but is worth every minute. The best Kaiserschmarn ever! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Whenever we are in Munich we stop by the Zwickl at the Viktualienmarkt. The food is great, small beer garden in front of the restaurant, a reservation is always good here, top service.

If you are looking for "typical" Bavarian, with beer and "sausage" this is it.

Absolutely great...but please only with reservation....everything else can be seen in my pictures from there...

Die Bedienung war zu Beginn sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, der Hauptgang war schmackhaft. Zum Abschluss bestellten wir einen Kaiserschmarrn - was dann gebracht wurde war alles, aber kein Kaiserschmarrn: dicke, nicht durchgegarte (pampige) Stücke . Nachdem wir dies freundlich anmerkten, war es mit der Freundlichkeit der Bedienung dahin, die Antwort, die wir erhielten: wir machen den Kaiserschmarrn eben anders. Ein weiteres Gespräch war leider nicht möglich. Sehr schade …..

Very nice salat and cozy and quite

Loved the experience! We were a group of 8. Great food, service and ambiente (cozy, traditional, yet friendly place with lots of daylight and windows). Backhendl Pflanzerl (home made like all their Pflanzerl) were delicious, just like the Kaiserschmarrn (see pics). Everyone else enjoyed their food, too. Multiple options for vegetarians.

Super tasty, large portions, reasonable prices. The vegetarian spinach dumpling carpaccio with truffle paste was incredible. The veal patties are also a bomb.

Quaint pub, down-to-earth food. We were more than satisfied.

Friendly service and tasty food. That's what you want!

Good food and friendly staff until our little daughter became a little louder and more lively while playing at the table. Not that the restaurant is a 5 star restaurant and everyone speaks in hushed tones. It was incredibly loud. Unfortunately, the innkeeper and the waitress talked a little too loudly about the fact that our daughter's behavior had previously been criticized. And rightly so. Quote from the waitress: “That didn’t hurt anyone.” Anyone who makes such statements has, at best, never experienced violence themselves and if they have, it has obviously caused harm. A restaurant that glosses over violence against children definitely doesn't deserve a recommendation.

Eigentlich war ursprünglich ein Besuch in einem anderen Restaurant in der Nähe beabsichtigt. Aber ein Blick in die Bewertungen bei Tripadvisor ließ mich zurückschrecken und eine andere Wahl treffen. Die fiel auf das Zwickl. Etwas zurückgesetzt vom Viktualienmarkt. Von innen eher der Typ einer gemütlichen Eckkneipe mit großem Tresen und etlichen Holztischen. Von außen mit ungewöhnlich großen Halbrundbogenfenstern, die viel Licht reinlassen. Es gab drei preiswerte Mittagsgerichte, davon zwei vegetarische und eine kleine Tageskarte. Aus dieser sprachen uns die Spargelgerichte an. Sowohl das Spargelrisotto einschließlich des Beilagensalates als auch die Spargelsuppe waren ausgesprochen köstlich. Die Angaben auf der website, dass beste Zutaten und natürliche Aromen verwendet werden kann nur zugestimmt werden. Der freundliche Wirt sowie die Bedienung taten ein übriges, zusammen mit der dezenten Musik der 70-90er Jahre, dass wir uns hier wohlgefühlt haben.

ZWICKL The taste of the food is at a medium level. What I like and am impressed with is pumpkin soup. Actually, I ate more dishes than this but I was very hungry. For lunch on Saturday, I forgot to reserve a restaurant. Hardly able to find anything to eat, every shop is full. I came across this restaurant that had a free table. It is considered possible to give birth. Some dishes will taste quite salty. (But personally, I feel that most German food is quite salty. Good service staff, various recommendations The shop has a cute atmosphere.

On the last day of our Munich vacation, we spontaneously decided to have dinner at Zwickel. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very cozy and the service was very friendly. If we had already eaten there on the first day, we would certainly have repeated it. Clear recommendation from me.

It was recommended to me at work and I went straight away. There were three of us and the food came very quickly and the portions were really good so you really get something for your money. In addition to the quantity, the quality was also good, the food was very tasty, the service was very friendly, the look of the restaurant was very harmonious and the funny highlight was the toilet. Here you will be treated... (or will you not?...) If you order a cut (we have half light beer and the other half dark beer) you will only get half a beer for a few cents cheaper! Addendum: Apparently it's something "common" in the area and that's how it's done (but I still don't understand why, who orders a beer that consists of 80% foam!?), but the reviews still remain The waiter's reaction wasn't really right! I explained to him what I wanted and making improvements wouldn't have been a problem! He said you've just learned something now and I just feel like I've been ripped off...!

While the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, I must mention a significant drawback regarding the menu. Regrettably, two out of the three dishes we ordered turned out to be spicy, with no prior indication on the menu. This oversight can be particularly challenging for individuals who cannot consume spicy food. Clear labeling of spice levels on the menu would greatly benefit customers and prevent any unpleasant surprises during their dining experience.

A nice little restaurant on the Viktualienmarkt that can be recommended without hesitation. The goulash here tastes really good and fills you up, and that also applies to the cheese spaetzle. The staff is attentive and friendly. This was definitely not the last visit.

This restaurant is marked by "Z". It's a small restaurant and popular, so it's best to make a reservation. The starter is a Bavarian platter with 10 types of prosciutto, salami, and cheese, all of which are delicious and filling.

After regular visits to the Zwickl, I now manage to give it a well-deserved review. The food always tasted delicious and fresh, was beautifully prepared and when you look into the kitchen you can tell that everything is cooked with love. I don't even need to start with the staff. A dream! Extremely accommodating and super nice, you can only feel comfortable there :) I can only recommend it!!

Wir sind hier eigentlich wegen den Kasspatzn hergekommen und diese waren herausragend. Spontan haben wir dann aber auch die Kalbsfleischpflanzerl in Trüffelrahmsoße mit Kartoffel-/Karottenstampf von der Tageskarte bestellt - zum Glück!!!!!!!! Das waren die besten Fleischpflanzerl die wir jemals irgendwo probieren durften - unf.uckingfassbar. Es ist alles super frisch und wir hätten uns in beide Teller reinlegen können. Die Portionen sind riesig, allein der Beilagensalat bei den Spätzle ist von höchster Qualität (kein reiner billig Blattsalat) und so groß wie eine Hauptspeisensalat in anderen Restaurants. Die Creme Brûlée mit frischen Früchten zum Nachtisch war auch äußerst fein. Für die Größe und Qualität der Speisen ist der Preis absolut angemessen. Der Service ist super lieb und herzlich und aufmerksam. Wir haben uns vorgenommen, die gesamte Speisekarte durchzuprobieren und werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.
