So far it's been okay, good. However, we have only been there once. During the week, and it was already pretty full. What is it like on special days? - probably very crowded and loud A bit too upscale atmosphere, with a tavern atmosphere. The price was moderately expensive to high. Waiter was a bit uninterested in serving. That is, he didn't ask if we needed anything or anything, and therefore had to leave several times. For example, when we asked for cutlery or bread, he was slightly annoyed, so... - but it was his own fault if he had to leave more often because he didn't pay attention to us, as paying guests, and didn't even ask politely if we needed anything else or what we needed or didn't need? After all, we also pay dearly for a visit to a restaurant like this, €80 for two people.

Delicious and inexpensive. Very cute old-fashioned place with great service. The rich homemade käsespätle comes with a soda and a tasty mixed salad with beets. You can add a side of weisswurst and sweet mustard for €3. Highly recommend this place!

This was our second time here. Price-performance is consistent. The food is very good and the atmosphere in the beer garden is very nice. The service staff is always very friendly and helpful. The Kaiserschmarrn is definitely recommended - but can be shared because of the portion size. We'd love to come back 🐰.

Great experience – we’d love to come back! After a visit to the pediatrician we were really hungry - so we spontaneously decided to visit and were not disappointed! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The order was taken quickly and the food didn't take long to arrive. I would particularly like to emphasize the excellent price-performance ratio: for €17.50 there was a “Vienna-style” schnitzel with fries and a side salad. The schnitzel was really tasty – thin, tender, without any “flax” and nicely fried in butter. The beer garden also makes a great impression - certainly a highlight in the summer, and the little ones are also catered for. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit – we will definitely be back!

I was at the restaurant with my child today. German is not my native language, and since I don't speak it very well, when I read the menu I didn't understand that the Munich schnitzel with mustard 🙈 is served between meat and breading - so there was a little misunderstanding when ordering. Of course my child (6 years old) didn't want to eat the dish. The team reacted very friendly, understanding and professionally: a new schnitzel without mustard was specially prepared for the child - and in the end we didn't have to pay anything for it. Thank you for the warm treatment – ​​it saved our day 🫶🏼

Here you can feel the atmosphere and taste of a real Bavarian beer hall. The prices are normal, the portions are huge, the food is delicious. If you are going to visit for dinner it is not bad to have a reservation, even if it is a weekday.

I can't recommend the goat cheese salad. A huge pile of green leaves with a slice of cucumber and a slice of tomato. It came with a large piece of goat cheese, but no bread. A bit more vegetables in the salad and bread would have been nice; otherwise, I think €16 is a bit too expensive for what you get. I ordered bread separately, but the service forgot it. The service generally seemed very stressed. The blackcurrant spritzer was very watery, maybe 10% juice, 90% water.

Very polite waiters. Convenient to combine with a trip to the botanical garden or Nymphenburg Castle.

A short trip took us to the Zum Grünen Baum restaurant in Munich Obermenzing in January 2025. The menu is pleasantly manageable. Each of the meals we (4 people) ordered tasted exceptionally good. A steak that was ordered medium was actually cooked medium. The meat from roast pork, oxenbackerl (daily menu) and beef steak was very tender, the sauces and side dishes were excellent. The meals were garnished and presented in an extremely appetizing manner. The portions were good and plentiful. The service was unobtrusively very attentive and we were served quickly. The Grüner Baum is a restaurant with a tradition going back decades. This also applies to the building and the adjacent beer garden, which we already paid a very satisfactory visit to in the summer. The main room of the restaurant - this is the only criticism - has reverberating acoustics, which means that the environment is a bit noisy and quiet conversations are difficult. The current tenants delight us with an absolutely satisfactory quality of food and drinks. We consider the prices to be very reasonable considering the quality of the offering. I can highly recommend the Green Tree!

We had made reservations for our Christmas party many weeks in advance. A colleague was there earlier, but the reservation could not be found. When I arrived, we went through the book and lo and behold, the table was reserved under a false name (something the employee said he understood on the phone, even though it was spelled specifically). It would probably be better to reserve online here. The waiter asked for drinks right at the beginning, but not all of them. The food came pretty quickly and was tasty. The salad was missing dressing and a bit of bread. Unfortunately that was it with the service. We had to draw attention to ourselves so that we could at least get something to drink. Dessert and/or coffee were not offered. We all paid separately, each after he left. In the end there were only two of us left and after paying, the waiter complained to us that there was still a drink left. But we knew exactly who had what and how much and we told him that this didn't belong to us. However, he continued to be unfriendly and wouldn't let up. We ignored him at some point, then he left. It's an absolute NO GO to treat guests like this, even if you've previously received a good tip. I'm really disappointed.

Simply a wonderful authentic place in the west of Munich. For us as a family, the Green Tree has been an integral part of our life in Obermenzing for almost two years now. Whether in the beautiful, quiet beer garden in summer, or in the beautiful restaurant in winter. The staff is very friendly and always has time for a quick chat. The Augustiner also serves wooden barrels twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. An institution that doesn't exist very often in Munich anymore.

We had lunch at the restaurant a few days ago. Very nice, well-kept restaurant. Generous portions (Wiener-style schnitzel, plated meat). It was delicious. The waiting time was very short. We will definitely come back.

Addendum: Still great Two years ago my review wasn't the best: food overly salty, service extremely slow. Today we were there again with friends who wanted to teach us something better and I have to say hats off. Good food, good service, we would love to come back. The almost 4 hours we were there flew by.

Food was great, we can highly recommend it! Service worked, but was a bit annoying. Ambience is typically Bavarian and classy.

It already took 30 minutes for the drink to come. After ordering the food, it took forever and then cold food arrived. After the complaint, lukewarm food came out of the microwave and half was missing from the plate, the portion that was not microwave-safe, such as cranberries. We then decided not to make a third complaint and left. The whole thing took about 1.5 hours. Apart from a yes, it's fine, not much came. Such an experience is truly extremely underground.

After a visit to the botanical garden, we stopped here for lunch. Although located directly on Verdi Street, the terrace and beer garden in the backyard are nice and quiet. A real oasis with its old trees. The food was very good and it was a show to watch the service and the kitchen. During the peak period they were at full speed and still tried to fulfill all wishes. We'd love to come back!

Very cozy, great service and great food

We were there yesterday. Very cool and relaxed atmosphere. Very tasty food and nice staff. Very great playground for small children in the shade with swings, slide 🛝, small house, sandpit... Oh what a very positive thing with a changing table for babies. This is what a really child-friendly changing corner looks like, even with the wonders in all sizes. Very high praise to the staff! We'd love to come by again. You don't find such beautiful places every day.

The good thing first: When I got my food after more than 50 minutes, it was really good and fresh. From the very attentive waiter at the beginning to the somewhat strange waitress, everything was offered. Sometimes it's better to say nothing than to make such unpleasant comments.... . As a guest you don't want to hear such nonsense. First think, ask colleagues, then act quietly. That would be the way... And maybe teach people again how to view payment transactions in the cash register. The colleague explained everything. But something remains. A pity. I hope both faux pas were an exception.

Classic Bavarian. Good, down-to-earth cuisine. One of the few places where cards are still played. Very well attended (reservation recommended). The highlight for us is the beer garden, where you can also order food from the normal menu.

We had a place on the terrace and were served in a totally unfriendly manner by a woman with a long braid in a dirndl... The lady was very unfriendly to dogs… And really pushed us to pay at 9 p.m. even though the store was open until 11 p.m.... Unfortunately I have to say that I don't go there anymore because I've never seen such unfriendly service... it's a shame...
