Super Essen, netter Biergarten, gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis

Gehe seit Jahren dort hin und bin immer super zufrieden! Heute war ich es leider nicht, Portion zu klein und auch geschmacklich nicht so überzeugend…. Weiß nicht was heute los war, hoffe, es war nur ein Ausrutscher, kann ja mal vorkommen….

Der Kellner mit der Fake Lederhosn vergisst gerne seine Bestellung. Meinen Kaiserschmarrn garnicht erhalten. Mein 2. Bier musste ich mir selbst an der Theke bestellen. Essen war nicht schlecht.

Weil zweimal schäufele Essen am Sonntag erstes Mal war hervorragend zweites Mal war ok.

Sehr, sehr leckeres Essen. Die Bedienung ist lustig, mag vielleicht nicht jeder, uns hat es getaugt. Gute Portionen zu sehr fairem Preis beim Mittagsangebot.

Nachtrag: Immer noch top, guter Service und gute anständige Küche Vor zwei Jahren war meine Rezension nicht die Beste: Essen versalzen, Service extrem langsam. Heute waren wir wieder mal mit Freunden dort, die uns des besseren belehren wollten und ich muß sagen Hut ab. Gutes Essen, guter Service, da kommen wir gerne wieder. Die knapp 4 Stunden die wir da waren, sind im Flug vergangen.

Alles hervorragend!! Exzellent, typisch bayerisch, traditionell und in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnlich!! Ich kann das gesamte Team, angeführt von einem ganz besonderen Mann, wärmstens empfehlen!! Vielen Dank für alles

Ein sehr schönes Lokal mit Biergarten im bayerischen Viertel. Wie so viele andere Restaurants in München wird es von der Augustiner Brauerei betrieben. Dieses hier ist jedoch etwas Besonderes. Das Essen ist immer frisch, der Service freundlich und es findet sich immer ein Tisch für die Gäste am Tisch. Die Preise sind angemessen. Der Biergarten ist im Sommer besonders schön.

Uriges bayerisches Wirtshaus mit einer guten Küche und super Service-Personal. Das Essen schmeckt jedes mal super, wurde hier noch nie enttäsucht. Die Bedienungen sind freundlich, bayerisch und einfach gscheid. Schee is sowieso do, man sitzt gemütlich drinnen wie draußen. Nur eine Empfehlung, hingehen allein, zu zweit oder in großer Gruppe, genießen und wohlfühlen. Klare 5/5 Sterne ;)

Wir sind immer gerne hier. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, der Service aufmerksam und man fühlt sich wie ein Stammgast. Das Beste was Obermenzing zu bieten hat.

Essen war lecker, Preise ok, das Lokal war gut besucht, was für die Qualität spricht und hat eine sehr gute Akustik, heißt: es war entsprechend laut.

Schöne bayerische Wirtschaft und sehr gute Mittagskarte.

Ich kenne das Wirtshaus aus oftmaligen Besuchen von früher und es war immer alles in Ordnung. Heute wollte ich für den 21.02.26 Abends reservieren. Mei telefonisches Gegenüber hatte schon zu Beginn keine Zeit für ein Begrüßung, dann kam kurz "wir sind voll" und es wurde danach einfach aufgelegt. Insgesamt sind die hier an den Tag gelegten Verhaltensformen eher gewöhnungsbedürftig (!) und jeder sollte sich irgendwann schon die Frage stellen, ob man eine derartige Gastronomie, noch dazu nach Förderung durch Steuergelder (Stichwort: Mehrwertsteuersenkung bei fehlender Preisanpassung), noch besuchen sollte. Offensichtlich läuft's ja doch nicht so schlecht!

Der Service ist in der Regel flott, aber reichlich desinteressiert und nur selten mit einem Hauch Freundlichkeit gesegnet. So viel überhlichkeit sieht man einem Gast gegenüber selten. Besonders wenn am Schluss auch noch mehr Trinkgeld gefordert wird. Wir waren sprachlos. Es wurden dann auch noch 2 Getränke mehr berechnet wie wir hatten. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Heute waren wir mit unserer Familie im Grünen Baum beim Essen, das Essen war soweit gut. Leider waren die als Hauptgericht beschriebenen Garnelen, mit drei Garnelen und etwas Orangendcheiben, für 16 € zu teuer. Aber das eigentliche Problem war eher die Bedienung, die schon von Anfang an keine gute Laune hatte und sehr patzig war. Der Service war nicht gut und zum Schluss haute sie uns noch einen patzen Spruch um die Ohren, weil es ihr zu wenig Trinkgeld war. Das empfanden wir als ziemlich unverschämt, denn Trinkgeld ist keine Selbstverständlichkeit, vor allem nicht bei schlechtem Service.

Wir waren schon einige Male dort. Essen immer sehr gut. Heute hat Preis-/Leistung leider nicht gestimmt. Bedingungen war unfreundlich und patzig. Sehr schade!

Wir waren heute zum zweiten Mal hier und beide Male waren die Kellner sehr freundlich, schnell, und das Essen sehr gut. Das Ambiente ist ebenfalls super Jederzeit wieder!

Dieses deutsche Restaurant ist bei Einheimischen sehr beliebt. Das Essen und das Bier vom Fass sind hervorragend 🍺. Bei meinem Besuch gab es leider keine Schweinshaxe, aber dafür Schweinebraten mit Soße, der ebenfalls sehr lecker war. Das Restaurant liegt etwas außerhalb der touristischen Hotspots, ist aber von München aus gut zu erreichen. Einfach mit der S2 bis zum Bahnhof Obermenzing fahren, von dort ist es nur ein kurzer Fußweg. Dienstags und freitags gibt es Fassbier aus Holzfässern – ein absolutes Muss für Bierliebhaber 😋🍻 Tipp: Vor 17 Uhr ist keine Reservierung nötig, abends empfiehlt sich jedoch eine Reservierung.

Es war ein schöner Abend mit Eisstockschiessen vorher. Due Bahn ist super. Das Essen war original bayrisch und wirklich sehr gut, wie auch das Bier! Zum Ende hin hat uns die Bedienung leider ein bisschen vernachlässigt, wahrscheinlich weil wir im Nebenraum saßen. Ansonsten ein toller Abend, der nach Wiederholung ruft

Hervorragend zubereitete bayerische Küche. Sehr freundliches Personal und eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre. Wenn Sie in der Gegend sind, empfehle ich Ihnen dieses Restaurant wärmstens.

Schönes Lokal. Unser Kellner war freundlich und aufmerksam. Der Beilagensalat inklusive Dressing war gut. Die Käsespätzle leider nicht. Konsistenz und Würze gar nicht ansprechend. Die Lautstärke ab 18.00 Uhr fürchterlich! Die Ohren klingeln noch jetzt. Wir mussten deswegen schnell das Lokal verlassen weil es unerträglich ist

Ein hervorragendes Restaurant mit sehr leckerem Essen und einem sehr freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Personal. Wenn Sie in der Gegend um Obermenzing sind, kann ich dieses Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen.

Schweinebraten war erste Klasse. Sehr leckere Kruste. Kellner waren sehr nett.

Ein tolles Restaurant mit wunderschönem Biergarten. Es gibt eine Wochenkarte mit variierenden saisonalen Gerichten und eine klassische Karte mit allem, was das Herz begehrt. Einzig für Veganer könnte es etwas schwierig werden. Ein Punkt Abzug beim Service weil der sehr stark vom Tag und der Auslastung abhängt, manche der Bedienungen verlieren bei Stress etwas von ihrer Gastfreundlichkeit.

Wir waren eher zufällig hier gelandet weil der grüne Baum eine der wenigen Wirtschaften ist die an Neujahr geöffnet haben. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Leckeres Essen und freundliche Bedienung in uriger Atmosphäre. Gerne wieder!

It's a shame that the Friday fish dish of the day for 9.90 was no longer available at 1:30 p.m. But the curd dumplings, which were also very good, were also available.

Today wasn't to my liking. Last week was great but unfortunately today wasn't.

The restaurant is pretty and comfy, the service was good, I really wanted to give it a higher rating but unfortunately my main dish wasn't good. The shnitzel was good, the soup was good, but the meat balls dish wasn't. The gravy was too salty, the potatoes were too salty, it was difficult to eat. To their credit the waiter cared for the feedback. For some reason the hot chocolate also wasn't that good. At least it wasn't salty.

Delicious and plentiful food, the women's restroom really surprised me, it had many necessary facilities and appliances.

Unfortunately, we think the quality of the food has declined over the past year. Last time, the spinach dumplings were oversalted; this time, it was the coleslaw... The tiny piece of crust on the roast pork tasted like it had been sitting in the warming oven since lunchtime. Please revise the menu; it's getting rather monotonous over time.

We had dinner at your restaurant today. My partner ordered two meatballs. They were okay. But the potato salad was from a bucket and by no means homemade. It tasted almost inedible. I ordered a hunter's schnitzel. There wasn't any schnitzel meat, but rather slices of roast pork, or rather, pork neck. Absolutely not a good choice! We will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again. The "hunter's schnitzel" at €17.50 is definitely not a special offer.

A cozy restaurant in western Munich with a lovely, large beer garden—perfect for sitting outside on warm days. Lunchtime menus for €9.90 are not only reasonably priced, but also delicious and fresh. It's no wonder the place is busy—you just feel at home here.

This was our third time here and we were always very satisfied. Friendly and attentive service, without being intrusive. A very nice Bavarian beer garden and a nice restaurant. If you want to eat inside or on the terrace, a table reservation is recommended. The price and quality are absolutely fine. Delicious Bavarian delicacies. We'll go there again when we're back in Munich.

Highly recommended! This is always our stop on the way back from Austria! Great food at reasonable prices! The service is excellent! Even with a larger group, the food is served quickly!

Authentic, not expensive, not fancy modern, original Bierstuben and Biergarten. Original state of a couple of years old building, heavy doors dark furniture. The food is excellent. All that, away from Munich's touristic mainstream still easy accessible by car or S-Bahn.

So far, it's been okay, good. The food tasted mediocre. Update, approximately June 2025: (Photos to follow) The fish with spinach and potatoes were truly an absolute disaster, unfortunately. I've never had such a bad plate. This time, unfortunately, the food wasn't that good at all. I could barely eat it, so I left it alone. It tasted so bad to me, and was poorly prepared, like in a cheap cafeteria, for example. The fish was completely dry. The spinach had no good flavor at all; it was very mushy and watery and unsalted, not seasoned well enough, the fish and spinach. Not at all. The potatoes weren't either. And that's pretty disappointing for such an established Bavarian restaurant that they even offer such a dish in such a way? That day, we had two dishes, and unfortunately, both weren't that good. We went to this Bavarian restaurant three times in total and ordered a lot. Twice the food was okay, just about good. And once it wasn't good at all. We went there three times in total. During the week, and it was already quite busy. So what would it be like on special days? - probably very busy and loud. The atmosphere was a bit too pretentious. In a pub setting. The price was moderately expensive to upscale. The waiter was a bit uninterested in our service. That is, he didn't even ask if we needed anything or anything like that, and therefore had to leave several times when we asked for cutlery, for example, or for bread? Then he was slightly annoyed about it afterward! - But it's his own fault if he had to leave several times, because the waiter didn't pay any attention to us, even as paying guests! He didn't even politely ask us if we needed anything else, or if we needed anything? Whether we need something or not, as a waiter usually does in a restaurant? After all, we're paying a lot for a restaurant visit: around €80 for two people, for two dishes and one drink each!

Yes, because it's a typical Augustinian restaurant, with wood paneling on the walls. The food is also very good.

Genuinely one of the best places I’ve eaten at. The meat, salad, everything here is so wonderful. 10/10, can’t compare it to anything else I’ve ever eaten.

Unfortunately, the waiters were not friendly at all. Even though they saw us, we were neither greeted nor acknowledged. We were the first guests to arrive, yet guests who arrived after us were served first. There was no greeting, nor were we even given a menu or cutlery. After our meal, we wanted to pay and called, but the waiters were suddenly nowhere to be found. We finally had to go inside to pay ourselves. The food was good, but the service was overall disappointing. Therefore, we won't be coming back!!

A really nice beer garden, and not too expensive by Munich standards. I highly recommend the Eismaß (Ice Mass) as a dark shandy!

Good food and varied lunch menus

I was really annoyed by the Pinot Gris in the beer garden! It tastes like a bad Vetliner and is poured from a cheap 1-liter bottle – priced at 6.90! With all due respect for the restaurant industry, at some point it becomes outrageous!

The menu is extremely meat-heavy. Almost no vegetarian dishes – vegans are practically non-existent. The salad with a bit of goat cheese was extremely expensive, but the amount was small and the service was poorly presented. The bread was crumbly and dried out and was charged extra. The restaurant was half empty, but the service was mostly rude and stressed. I used to like eating there often, and I always preferred meat, but there were significantly more options. After my recent experiences, I won't be going back. The rest of the table had little interest in vegetarian food, but were similarly disappointed. The food was heavy and fatty. Visually, I found it just as poorly presented as mine. The ambiance outside was quite nice, although the street noise was noticeable. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Unfortunately, we were completely ignored by the staff upon arrival. Even the gentleman we tried to speak to didn't respond. After waiting for several minutes, we left.

My husband's cousins took us here, a real Biergarten that the locals visit. It permits people to bring their own picnics along as well as provide tasty, traditional fare, including huge soft pretzels and beer glasses that are trademarks of the Bavarian dining experience. It felt authentic, and not at all touristy, with a playground for children in beautiful suburban park surroundings.

I've been a regular at the Grüner Baum for eight years now—to be precise, ever since Mrs. Sperl and Mr. Brezean took over and lovingly run the restaurant. Thanks to their head chef, Mr. Haimerl, they've been offering traditional Bavarian cuisine of consistent quality at fair prices since the reopening. The friendly service team, including Yvonne and Max, and the Augustiner beer on tap round out this successful package and greatly enrich the gastronomic offerings in Obermenzing. In summer, the adjacent beer garden is a wonderful place to linger under old chestnut trees. Great class, keep it up! :)

We've had two birthday parties with a total of 35 people at the "Grüner Baum" within a week of each other, and we're still thrilled! Twice incredibly friendly, attentive service! Twice the food was very, very good! ALL the dishes were delicious, and the Augustiner beer is beyond reproach! The prices are also very reasonable for Munich standards! The contact and communication with the very friendly landlady, Ms. Sperl, was excellent, and so both parties were a great success. We also booked the bowling alley, which everyone really enjoyed. I can absolutely recommend the "Grüner Baum" and would like to thank Ms. Sperl and her entire team again for the two wonderful evenings.

The service that day was excellent; you couldn't have been served better. The food was also delicious 😋 I can only say, as a Berliner, you should go there.

This was the best Bavarian food we had in Munich! I ate at other restaurants with similar ratings and number of reviews, but none of them came close to this one. I’ll be nostalgically thinking about those meals on cold rainy days💭

The rented meeting room is exorbitantly expensive. The noise from the bowling alley is also disruptive. Unfortunately, we'll have to find something new.

Dont eat here. I had ribs with tomato salad, very low end, mediocre. Ribs cold, undercooked.

The four of us ate in the beer garden. Since there were no seats available in the waiter area, we found a table in the self-service area, but were still able to eat à la carte. The food was very good and good value for money. We'd be happy to come back.

The Schäuferl (pork shoulder) was too salty for my taste. There was also coarse salt on the crust. The cheese spaetzle would have been good if the burnt spaetzle hadn't been mixed in, which unfortunately spoiled the flavor of the entire dish. Service was quick and courteous, so kudos!

A beer garden in a pleasant location. The food selection is extensive. Unusual: The bread offered for snacks like sausage salad was unavailable, even after asking. Unfortunately, it was unseasoned and could only be taken from a refrigerated shelf. The radish suffered the same fate. It's a shame, simply because this limited service seems rather unusual.

A small, cozy beer garden, offering plenty of shade and a very pleasant atmosphere. We'd love to come back.
