The roast pork was first-class. The crackling was delicious. The waiters were very friendly.

A great restaurant with a beautiful beer garden. They offer a weekly menu with varying seasonal dishes and a classic menu with everything you could wish for. It might be a bit difficult for vegans, though. One point deducted for service because it varies greatly depending on the day and how busy it is; some of the servers lose some of their hospitality when stressed.

We ended up here rather by chance because the Green Tree is one of the few restaurants open on New Year's Day. We weren't disappointed! Delicious food and friendly service in a rustic atmosphere. We'd gladly come again!

The restaurant is pretty and comfy, the service was good, I really wanted to give it a higher rating but unfortunately my main dish wasn't good. The shnitzel was good, the soup was good, but the meat balls dish wasn't. The gravy was too salty, the potatoes were too salty, it was difficult to eat. To their credit the waiter cared for the feedback. For some reason the hot chocolate also wasn't that good. At least it wasn't salty.

Delicious and plentiful food, the women's restroom really surprised me, it had many necessary facilities and appliances.

Unfortunately, we think the quality of the food has declined over the past year. Last time, the spinach dumplings were oversalted; this time, it was the coleslaw... The tiny piece of crust on the roast pork tasted like it had been sitting in the warming oven since lunchtime. Please revise the menu; it's getting rather monotonous over time.

We had dinner at your restaurant today. My partner ordered two meatballs. They were okay. But the potato salad was from a bucket and by no means homemade. It tasted almost inedible. I ordered a hunter's schnitzel. There wasn't any schnitzel meat, but rather slices of roast pork, or rather, pork neck. Absolutely not a good choice! We will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again. The "hunter's schnitzel" at €17.50 is definitely not a special offer.

A cozy restaurant in western Munich with a lovely, large beer garden—perfect for sitting outside on warm days. Lunchtime menus for €9.90 are not only reasonably priced, but also delicious and fresh. It's no wonder the place is busy—you just feel at home here.

Highly recommended! This is always our stop on the way back from Austria! Great food at reasonable prices! The service is excellent! Even with a larger group, the food is served quickly!

Authentic, not expensive, not fancy modern, original Bierstuben and Biergarten. Original state of a couple of years old building, heavy doors dark furniture. The food is excellent. All that, away from Munich's touristic mainstream still easy accessible by car or S-Bahn.

So far, it's been okay, good. The food tasted mediocre. Update, approximately June 2025: (Photos to follow) The fish with spinach and potatoes were truly an absolute disaster, unfortunately. I've never had such a bad plate. This time, unfortunately, the food wasn't that good at all. I could barely eat it, so I left it alone. It tasted so bad to me, and was poorly prepared, like in a cheap cafeteria, for example. The fish was completely dry. The spinach had no good flavor at all; it was very mushy and watery and unsalted, not seasoned well enough, the fish and spinach. Not at all. The potatoes weren't either. And that's pretty disappointing for such an established Bavarian restaurant that they even offer such a dish in such a way? That day, we had two dishes, and unfortunately, both weren't that good. We went to this Bavarian restaurant three times in total and ordered a lot. Twice the food was okay, just about good. And once it wasn't good at all. We went there three times in total. During the week, and it was already quite busy. So what would it be like on special days? - probably very busy and loud. The atmosphere was a bit too pretentious. In a pub setting. The price was moderately expensive to upscale. The waiter was a bit uninterested in our service. That is, he didn't even ask if we needed anything or anything like that, and therefore had to leave several times when we asked for cutlery, for example, or for bread? Then he was slightly annoyed about it afterward! - But it's his own fault if he had to leave several times, because the waiter didn't pay any attention to us, even as paying guests! He didn't even politely ask us if we needed anything else, or if we needed anything? Whether we need something or not, as a waiter usually does in a restaurant? After all, we're paying a lot for a restaurant visit: around €80 for two people, for two dishes and one drink each!

Unfortunately, the waiters were not friendly at all. Even though they saw us, we were neither greeted nor acknowledged. We were the first guests to arrive, yet guests who arrived after us were served first. There was no greeting, nor were we even given a menu or cutlery. After our meal, we wanted to pay and called, but the waiters were suddenly nowhere to be found. We finally had to go inside to pay ourselves. The food was good, but the service was overall disappointing. Therefore, we won't be coming back!!

Genuinely one of the best places I’ve eaten at. The meat, salad, everything here is so wonderful. 10/10, can’t compare it to anything else I’ve ever eaten.

Good food and varied lunch menus

I was really annoyed by the Pinot Gris in the beer garden! It tastes like a bad Vetliner and is poured from a cheap 1-liter bottle – priced at 6.90! With all due respect for the restaurant industry, at some point it becomes outrageous!

The menu is extremely meat-heavy. Almost no vegetarian dishes – vegans are practically non-existent. The salad with a bit of goat cheese was extremely expensive, but the amount was small and the service was poorly presented. The bread was crumbly and dried out and was charged extra. The restaurant was half empty, but the service was mostly rude and stressed. I used to like eating there often, and I always preferred meat, but there were significantly more options. After my recent experiences, I won't be going back. The rest of the table had little interest in vegetarian food, but were similarly disappointed. The food was heavy and fatty. Visually, I found it just as poorly presented as mine. The ambiance outside was quite nice, although the street noise was noticeable. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Unfortunately, we were completely ignored by the staff upon arrival. Even the gentleman we tried to speak to didn't respond. After waiting for several minutes, we left.

My husband's cousins took us here, a real Biergarten that the locals visit. It permits people to bring their own picnics along as well as provide tasty, traditional fare, including huge soft pretzels and beer glasses that are trademarks of the Bavarian dining experience. It felt authentic, and not at all touristy, with a playground for children in beautiful suburban park surroundings.

I've been a regular at the Grüner Baum for eight years now—to be precise, ever since Mrs. Sperl and Mr. Brezean took over and lovingly run the restaurant. Thanks to their head chef, Mr. Haimerl, they've been offering traditional Bavarian cuisine of consistent quality at fair prices since the reopening. The friendly service team, including Yvonne and Max, and the Augustiner beer on tap round out this successful package and greatly enrich the gastronomic offerings in Obermenzing. In summer, the adjacent beer garden is a wonderful place to linger under old chestnut trees. Great class, keep it up! :)

We've had two birthday parties with a total of 35 people at the "Grüner Baum" within a week of each other, and we're still thrilled! Twice incredibly friendly, attentive service! Twice the food was very, very good! ALL the dishes were delicious, and the Augustiner beer is beyond reproach! The prices are also very reasonable for Munich standards! The contact and communication with the very friendly landlady, Ms. Sperl, was excellent, and so both parties were a great success. We also booked the bowling alley, which everyone really enjoyed. I can absolutely recommend the "Grüner Baum" and would like to thank Ms. Sperl and her entire team again for the two wonderful evenings.

The four of us ate in the beer garden. Since there were no seats available in the waiter area, we found a table in the self-service area, but were still able to eat à la carte. The food was very good and good value for money. We'd be happy to come back.

The Schäuferl (pork shoulder) was too salty for my taste. There was also coarse salt on the crust. The cheese spaetzle would have been good if the burnt spaetzle hadn't been mixed in, which unfortunately spoiled the flavor of the entire dish. Service was quick and courteous, so kudos!

A beer garden in a pleasant location. The food selection is extensive. Unusual: The bread offered for snacks like sausage salad was unavailable, even after asking. Unfortunately, it was unseasoned and could only be taken from a refrigerated shelf. The radish suffered the same fate. It's a shame, simply because this limited service seems rather unusual.

Whether outside in the beer garden (self-service or with waitress service) or inside, there are good, down-to-earth dishes at normal prices

We were two families with children. The playground is great for the kids. It's actually a nice location for families. But we won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to others. The staff were extremely rude!! We weren't offered a high chair. When I asked, I was told to get one myself as it was somewhere in the closet. We waited half an hour for our food, and with children too! When I asked, I was told not to get so upset!!! My experience was so bad, I regret spending my money there. One star is even too many!!

We went on a Sunday evening, so reservations are definitely recommended! It was quite busy. Unfortunately, it was very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. The server was a bit overwhelmed; he kept forgetting to ask someone or forgetting something. Maybe he was just having a bad day?! The food was typically Bavarian, the prices were reasonable, and the taste was good too.

An absolute insider tip in Obermenzing! The Zum Grünen Baum restaurant impresses with its super cozy ambiance and a fantastic beer garden under old chestnut trees, the likes of which you rarely find. The wooden barrel beer is served ice-cold in a mug straight from the freezer – for a small surcharge of just 50 cents, which is definitely worth it! The food is consistently excellent, but the Kaiserschmarrn is simply legendary – fluffy, caramelized, and a real highlight. Especially convenient for families: There's a lovely children's playground outside, so even the little ones will have fun. If you're looking for Bavarian hospitality with quality, this is the place for you. We'd love to come back!

Better not – there are only reserved tables, which at 5:00 PM have a menu for 8:00 PM. Guests are annoying and rather unwelcome to the unfriendly service. This continues until the restaurant is completely empty because the guests no longer want to come.

Delicious and inexpensive. Very cute old-fashioned place with great service. The rich homemade käsespätle comes with a soda and a tasty mixed salad with beets. You can add a side of weisswurst and sweet mustard for €3. Highly recommend this place!

Great experience – we’d love to come back! After a visit to the pediatrician we were really hungry - so we spontaneously decided to visit and were not disappointed! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The order was taken quickly and the food didn't take long to arrive. I would particularly like to emphasize the excellent price-performance ratio: for €17.50 there was a “Vienna-style” schnitzel with fries and a side salad. The schnitzel was really tasty – thin, tender, without any “flax” and nicely fried in butter. The beer garden also makes a great impression - certainly a highlight in the summer, and the little ones are also catered for. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit – we will definitely be back!

I was at the restaurant with my child today. German is not my native language, and since I don't speak it very well, when I read the menu I didn't understand that the Munich schnitzel with mustard 🙈 is served between meat and breading - so there was a little misunderstanding when ordering. Of course my child (6 years old) didn't want to eat the dish. The team reacted very friendly, understanding and professionally: a new schnitzel without mustard was specially prepared for the child - and in the end we didn't have to pay anything for it. Thank you for the warm treatment – ​​it saved our day 🫶🏼

Here you can feel the atmosphere and taste of a real Bavarian beer hall. The prices are normal, the portions are huge, the food is delicious. If you are going to visit for dinner it is not bad to have a reservation, even if it is a weekday.
