We were in the waiter-serviced section of the beer garden. The service was friendly, the food and Augustiner beer were good. 👍 Comfortable seating.

A great place with Augusteriner and Augustiner non-alcoholic on tap—it's worth a visit alone. But the roast pork and steak tartare are also extremely good and offer fantastic value for money! The kids' menu is especially great! Delicious dishes at fair prices. But you should always make a reservation in advance to ensure you get a seat!

Always a busy place and hard to find reservations for the restaurant. Food variety is very limited at the biergarten. You have some more alternatives at the restaurant but still somewhat limited. Being recently restored, it has great atmosphere. An outside playground is available if you have children.

A rustic inn with honest food and relaxed, yet super friendly service. Highly recommended – the pork knuckle with a crispy crust and juicy meat. We were there five years ago and it was just as good. You can even help yourself to a homemade schnapps to finish off the meal. Excellent value for money!

Yes and no. 😉. Superbly renovated. Another great beer garden, the old-school style. With local guests and no tourists. With local dishes (I judge the quality by the Bavarian-fresh sausage salad... and it was great) and great beer. I'm not Bavarian, but I went to Bavaria with my parents and grandparents 60 years ago. I was hoping for Saures Lungerl (a kind of sausage), but it was the wrong time of year. I'm very disappointed with Bavarian restaurants. Everything is geared towards tourists and mainstream. Things were different 20 years ago. Times change, but I'm glad that oases like this still exist. So yes and no, I'm happy to give it a good review, but I'd be happy if it remained an oasis.

The restaurant is particularly racist towards foreigners and people of color. No respect for people. The waitress assigned us a table and then decided to give it to a German family. Tips come from the waitress, and such poor service convinced me I'll never return.

The roast pork "Zum Gustl" tastes excellent! Tender and juicy meat with a fine crust. The staff is attentive and very friendly. The decor is typically Bavarian—definitely cozy.

We came here based on a recommendation. Well, Augustiner has breathed new life into an extraordinary property. Everything has a very traditional, Bavarian feel. The spacious, diverse dining rooms are beautifully designed and tastefully renovated. Everything is very cozy and well-crafted. Our chosen dishes were of excellent quality, impeccable in both appearance and taste. A freshly tapped Augustiner beer on tap rounded off the dining experience. We'd love to come back!

I'll start with the positive: Beautiful, clean rooms in a modern country-house style, unfussy and appealing. The first disappointment came when we sat down – why such small chairs?! I wear a size 36 and still felt like I was sliding off the chairs to the left and right; comfortable is something else entirely. We were less than impressed with the service. It started in the entrance area, where we were greeted by two employees who were openly bickering with each other. This impression continued throughout the entire evening. The service was barracks-like, everything took forever, and then our menus were taken from our hands before we could even order… impossible. It took almost 60 minutes before we could finally place our orders. The food was okay, but nothing remarkable. For the price, I expect homemade products and not convenience potato nuggets. Too bad.

Dear team at Stiftunghaus zum Gustl, We would like to express our complaint about our last visit to your establishment, which we will unfortunately remember as very negative. We had reserved a table through OpenTable – unfortunately, there is no way to indicate whether we were bringing children or a stroller. We were all the more surprised and, above all, disconcerted when we were greeted upon arrival, clearly yelled at for our stroller, as it was supposedly not registered. What followed was, unfortunately, a thoroughly unpleasant stay, characterized by extreme unfriendliness towards children, the likes of which we have never experienced in a restaurant before. The service was consistently unfriendly and repeatedly made us feel as if we were not welcome – mainly due to the noise level of our children. Such an attitude towards families is absolutely disappointing. We were not offered children's menus on our own initiative; we had to specifically request them. The service overall was characterized by an inappropriately harsh approach – among other things, a plate of sauce was slammed down so heavily that parts of it landed on the table. There was no apology. In the end, we were even asked to dispose of an empty baby food jar ourselves – a procedure that is simply inappropriate in a restaurant of this category. While we would like to acknowledge that your establishment has a truly beautiful children's playground, this unfortunately doesn't help in this specific situation when the general attitude towards families with children is so negative. We are also particularly disappointed that we had actually planned to host a private celebration at your establishment. After this experience, however, it is clear to us that we will definitely hold this celebration at another, more family-friendly venue. It is sad and shocking how unwelcome children – a central part of our society – seem to be at your establishment. Especially in a traditional inn, hospitality should be a given, even for families. We sincerely hope that you take this feedback seriously and urge you to reconsider your attitude towards families.

We've been there a few times now. When it's not busy, it's self-service. The beer is good, and the estate is being restored to its original condition. Very nice.

Seven of us went there for the first time on Sunday. It was very crowded and accordingly loud. The waitress seemed completely overwhelmed. The wine spritzer arrived in a carafe, but without a glass. The apple juice spritzers, ordered with carbonation, arrived with still water. The dishes took a very long time to arrive and were unfortunately incomplete. So, fries were brought later, about 15 minutes after the meat. Another 10 minutes later, ketchup and mayo arrived. The veal schnitzel was two stringy little pieces, not what you'd expect. The sirloin steak looked great, but was more laced with tendons than tasty. The boiled beef was apparently forgotten, so one person at the table watched the others eat for 20 minutes before receiving their dish. Conclusion: we won't be coming back.

Very nice traditional restaurant! Surprisingly large but very comfortable thanks to the many individual rooms! Food very tasty and very nice portions! The roast pork deserves special mention! Service staff very attentive and friendly! Gladly again in the beer garden in summer!

We celebrated our civil wedding at the Gasthaus Zum Gustl and were satisfied from start to finish. Planning with Kathi was super uncomplicated. The day and evening were also great, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Both we and our guests were very happy. The children received an extra menu with children's meals and our dog was also welcome. Many thanks to the entire team! :)

Review 2024: Very unfortunate. The food is good, the surroundings with the old estate are fantastic, the building has been lovingly restored. But the organization of the beer garden is one of the worst things I have experienced in Munich. First of all, the number of tables is completely inadequate for the large crowd; A third of the available space is not equipped with tables. The main annoyance, however, is the extremely poor organization of the food and drink distribution. While one waitress takes the order and pays, three other employees stand by and are bored. Each beer is passed individually through the window, and the buzzer for my food didn't work either. All the processes seem so incredibly complicated, tedious and soporific. I wasn't alone with this impression: several customers who were standing in line with me also expressed incomprehension about the unacceptable waiting times. Others didn't even want to get in line. Why is there no service on site? It's also bad for the restaurant if customers don't reorder because that means another 20 minutes in line. Aside from the inefficiencies, the friendliness is also not particularly good. The lady who took the order was very friendly, but unfortunately the rest were not. In short: a beer garden with great potential, which needs to be exploited first. In its current form I have to advise my friends not to visit here. Update 2025: Confirmation of the 2 stars, because the service is unfortunately not courteous even in the context of the very laudable lunch menu (“Quick Plate”). As a lunch guest who has just escaped from the office and wants to eat in peace, you are “invited” to sit down at a table that is already packed with noisy strangers, even though there are several huge tables free and lunch only lasts about 15 minutes. This is not how you make yourself popular with your customers. It's a shame, because the food still tastes great, the ambience is great, and there are a lot of friendly waitresses.

Very friendly and courteous service. The lady at reception in particular was really helpful and nice. The food was very good. The roast pork was excellent. The prices are very fair for the quality offered. The playground is designed with love and, like the entire area, is very well maintained and of high quality. We'd love to come back.

If it were possible, 0 stars would be appropriate for the service because guests' concerns about allergens are not taken seriously. I have a severe gluten allergy and two dishes were recommended to me that contain gluten. Unfortunately, since I trusted the waiter's knowledge, I ordered the dish and then had to live with the consequences. I've never experienced anything like this before and have to strongly advise anyone who has a serious allergy not to visit the restaurant!! Less consideration for guests' concerns is not possible!!

We've been here probably 10 - 15 times in the last 1.5 years. We were always served in a very friendly and service-oriented manner. The food is super tasty and the portions are so large that we are always full. Even in the summer in the beer garden, when there is a lot going on, we were served quickly and nicely. Sure, the employees only have two hands, but they do what they can and so far we've always had a good time, been given a place and something to drink and eat

The inn is beautifully renovated and nicely decorated. Unfortunately it was quite loud in the dining room, made easier by the many hard surfaces. The selection of dishes is clear, everyone should find something. I had the roast pork and it tasted good, but the portion size was quite manageable. The piece of suckling pig was more crust than meat and the piece of pork shoulder was cut paper thin. The two dumplings were barely the size of a golf ball. Unfortunately, I wasn't entirely convinced.

Very cozy beer garden. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere in a chill environment. Our service was attentive, friendly and quick! I had the onion soup, very tasty. The renovation there and the investments on site were really worth it. I'm excited to see what else is to come. About 10 minutes on foot from the Freiham Sbahn stop. I'll definitely come back.

The shift manager shouldn't belittle his hard-working colleague in front of the guests. We were very satisfied, even though it was completely packed and we didn't have a reservation, but we were still treated with loving care. No long waits, good beer, and excellent food!

Since the renovation and the complete change from Gut Freiham to "zum Gustl", the location is no longer recognizable. An inconspicuous place becomes a showcase location at the gates of Munich. Large new parking lot, very nice beer garden and large guest rooms on two floors. Decent space also for large celebrations. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. The ambience is bright, spacious and well done. The caramelized Kaiserschmarrn is highly recommended. It's been a long time since I've eaten something this good: fresh, light and fluffy and very tasty. The snack board is also attractively designed, very generous and really good. Perfect for a snack with fresh pretzels and a cool Augustiner. We were there as part of an anniversary celebration, felt very comfortable and well looked after. In order to be worlds better than before and not to compare - we can recommend everyone who has previously been to the old estate to come back and experience something new. We were definitely not there for the last time.

A rural gem in Freiham next to the extensive new buildings. Atmosphere and ambience is very good. Even during the week it is advisable to reserve a table. Food tasty, beautifully presented and freshly prepared, typical Bavarian fare.

For a larger group, reservations should be made at least 6 months in advance

The food is not cheap, but it is excellent. Here I ate the best potato salad ever and the schnitzel also tasted great. Gladly again and I can only recommend.

When the Augustinian tackles something, it does it right. Class restored. Old and new combined well. A half for under 4 EUR in MUC and good food. There's also a great children's playground and good connections to the S-Bahn

Very nice Gathaus in a great environment. Portions are absolutely sufficient and attractively prepared.

A great place with wonderful facilities but served with a random quality. The cuisine is average, unpretentious and hardly disappointing. The lounges, beer garden and games area are great. But there are only a few nice waiters. Coming to the table four times in ten minutes to ask about the order when the only guest is on the phone, as he expected before sitting down, is not acceptable. Leaving the only guest at the table without a drink for ten minutes while the guest demands the waitress's attention is unacceptable. The kitchen is not bad. Sitting in the beer garden and enduring the screaming of the children, watching the dirt that the children kick up in the middle of the beer garden end up on the table, whether there is food or not, is not at all pleasant, especially when no one tries to put things in order. A normal meal with a privileged beer and, with a few notable exceptions, poor service do not invite you to come here often.

I went here by bike to eat white sausage. We sat in the mud. The prices amazed me. 1/2 beer €3.90, a cut €2.90. Very nice atmosphere restored with a lot of love.

It has to be said that it is historic and beautifully decorated. The food is good but it wasn't much for the price. However, I think the biggest drawback is when no one comes to the table at 9:14 p.m. and says: “Last round!” All in all, the hustle and bustle broke out and we were subtly “induced to leave” with noise and bright lights. The restaurant was still full and there were at least 50 guests. You don't do anything like that. But that's probably the new reality since Corona... You don't have to be surprised if the guests stay away. After a failure two weeks ago at the Augustiner headquarters (Kaufinger Straße), I'm wondering how far the tradition and quality have come at Augustiner? More than a shame!

As an Augustiner fan, I didn't believe it - but then I found it confirmed on the second visit: the food is at best (!) mediocre despite the manageable menu. “Brennmeistersteak” is bland and bland, fried potatoes are not crispy, cucumber salad is ok, roast pork is the same. Even the beer was somehow neds... although - or because? - the restaurant was full - on a Wednesday (!).

Food was ok. But charging €1.50 for the fact that you would like fries instead of mashed potatoes is cheeky. And the chairs were made more for small people.

Unfortunately I have to say, it won't be more than three. The service was nice. The beer was delicious. The veal schnitzel was actually a disgrace. €26 for two tiny slices of stone-hard meat and pounds of breading. Unfortunately, that was a cheek and only tasted like breadcrumbs. The suckling pig was good, but nothing more. There are two maps on the homepage. One with really great things and then the ones that are also available in the restaurant. This doesn't have much real Bavarian food on offer, but it does offer all kinds of colorful salads. Overall rather disappointing.

We were at Gustl for the first time on January 26th, 2025. Despite being busy, we got a table for 7 people and a small dog. The food was surprisingly delicious, the service: a waiter with passion for his job! quick, friendly and stress-resistant... you rarely find something like that. We'll definitely be back. Some of the reviews here read very negatively... I think: "Just like you call into the forest..."

The “Zum Gustl” inn in the Freiham Foundation Estate is a real insider tip for lovers of Bavarian inn culture. In a stylish, traditional ambience, classic Bavarian dishes are served here, prepared with great attention to detail. Particularly noteworthy is the juicy roast pork with dumplings, which is one of the house specialties.  The service is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes the stay particularly pleasant. The spacious beer garden invites you to linger when the weather is nice and offers a relaxed atmosphere. There are two playgrounds available for families with children, which make the visit varied for the little ones.  Opening times are daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with hot food available continuously from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Table reservations are accepted by phone or online via OpenTable.  Overall, the “Zum Gustl” inn impresses with excellent cuisine, warm service and an authentic Bavarian flair. A visit is absolutely recommended!

Everything is fine if you like Bavarian tavern food. It was all a bit too quick for me, a bit careless, but ok.

Strong start but has now also slowed down considerably! Unfortunately the food is just average. I've eaten at Gustl several times since it opened, but I don't go there anymore. Quality and quantity no longer appropriate for the price. It's a shame, because the service and ambience would be great...

Food is delicious, portions could be larger. The waitresses were very nice and quick. What unfortunately remained negative was the surcharge for changing inserts. My wife wanted potato dumplings instead of bread dumplings, I wanted exactly the other way around. So it just had to be replaced. However, a surcharge was charged twice for changing inserts, a total of €3 for this. I find that outrageous and not worthy of an Augustinian. It's not about the money, it's just about the principle in a foundation economy. Could the innkeeper possibly think about whether he wants to leave his guests with this negative conclusion?
