Food was ok. But charging €1.50 for the fact that you would like fries instead of mashed potatoes is cheeky. And the chairs were made more for small people.

Unfortunately I have to say, it won't be more than three. The service was nice. The beer was delicious. The veal schnitzel was actually a disgrace. €26 for two tiny slices of stone-hard meat and pounds of breading. Unfortunately, that was a cheek and only tasted like breadcrumbs. The suckling pig was good, but nothing more. There are two maps on the homepage. One with really great things and then the ones that are also available in the restaurant. This doesn't have much real Bavarian food on offer, but it does offer all kinds of colorful salads. Overall rather disappointing.

The food is very tasty and the service is friendly. We have been there several times and always enjoy coming back. Sometimes it's a bit loud, especially when there's a party upstairs. You should definitely make a reservation. But it's worth it!

We were at Gustl for the first time on January 26th, 2025. Despite being busy, we got a table for 7 people and a small dog. The food was surprisingly delicious, the service: a waiter with passion for his job! quick, friendly and stress-resistant... you rarely find something like that. We'll definitely be back. Some of the reviews here read very negatively... I think: "Just like you call into the forest..."

The “Zum Gustl” inn in the Freiham Foundation Estate is a real insider tip for lovers of Bavarian inn culture. In a stylish, traditional ambience, classic Bavarian dishes are served here, prepared with great attention to detail. Particularly noteworthy is the juicy roast pork with dumplings, which is one of the house specialties.  The service is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes the stay particularly pleasant. The spacious beer garden invites you to linger when the weather is nice and offers a relaxed atmosphere. There are two playgrounds available for families with children, which make the visit varied for the little ones.  Opening times are daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with hot food available continuously from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Table reservations are accepted by phone or online via OpenTable.  Overall, the “Zum Gustl” inn impresses with excellent cuisine, warm service and an authentic Bavarian flair. A visit is absolutely recommended!

Everything is fine if you like Bavarian tavern food. It was all a bit too quick for me, a bit careless, but ok.

Strong start but has now also slowed down considerably! Unfortunately the food is just average. I've eaten at Gustl several times since it opened, but I don't go there anymore. Quality and quantity no longer appropriate for the price. It's a shame, because the service and ambience would be great...

Food is delicious, portions could be larger. The waitresses were very nice and quick. What unfortunately remained negative was the surcharge for changing inserts. My wife wanted potato dumplings instead of bread dumplings, I wanted exactly the other way around. So it just had to be replaced. However, a surcharge was charged twice for changing inserts, a total of €3 for this. I find that outrageous and not worthy of an Augustinian. It's not about the money, it's just about the principle in a foundation economy. Could the innkeeper possibly think about whether he wants to leave his guests with this negative conclusion?

I actually really like the location and have been there many times. It's great on the way home from work. I have been here several times with my wife, family, friends and colleagues. First of all, it is incredible what has been achieved from the old economy. Anyone who knew this before can't believe their eyes now. You can always tell that the staff is trying very hard to provide good service. Sometimes little things don't go so well, but they'll be even better next time. But I'm slowly losing the desire to eat there. The "artificial" crust that is served with roast pork is not my thing at all. An absolute no-go is that I left the house hungry for the second time today. A Wiener Schnitzel can cost a little more. I see that. But then I want to get my fill of it. The portion today was more what I would expect from a children's schnitzel. We had the same game once in the summer. I had been looking forward to a schnitzel all day and then a tiny, pitiful piece of meat arrived. The taste is ok but not even great. My meat was actually really tough today. You can tell that the prices have been slowly increasing since it opened. At first it was surprisingly cheap. Now it's more normal. But when the portions get smaller and smaller, it's no longer fun. And honestly, I don't expect a "giant" schnitzel. I also want to get some air when I leave a pub. But I want to be full and not have to go to the fridge at home. For me that was it for now. I'll wait and see what the new self-service beer garden will have to offer, but I'll go somewhere else for Bavarian food in the future.

Nice beer hall and restaurant. Very busy. No wonder the food was delicious. The beer is tapped directly from a small wooden barrel. The Kaiserschmarrn was a poem. Dogs are allowed, they wait patiently

Very nicely renovated, many extra rooms for private parties. The food served (roast pork, dumplings) was average, the sauce was probably from a bag. The service had a bit of trouble dealing with the small number of guests. Maybe it was due to understaffing? Very nicely located, nice beer garden!

We spontaneously decided to go. We just found space. But apparently you have to make a reservation because it's busy even during the week. The service was very friendly and good. For dinner we had veal schnitzel (good), duck (too dry and tough) side dish but great, children's schnitzel (good). Priced OK. Location, quite outside. But a quiet corner.

Let's call it a tip, this inn and beer garden is located outside the city. A must for anyone who likes Augustinians. The “Fan Shop” is also recommended. Great menu, nice service, great ambience. Just great!

This time our visit to Gustl was a family reunion, we had reserved and were given a beautiful table where everyone could fit. No matter whether Kaiserschmarrn, Münchner Schnitzel, Ochsenbackerl, the Oberlecker was tender with the pumpkin puree. Roast pork or liver. Everyone enjoyed it excellently. The deserts were also impressive, both visually and in terms of taste. Very very fine. Plus the good Augustiner beer. It couldn't be more perfect. Thank you very much for that.

nice evening for four. Children's schnitzel and roast pork as a small portion for the children were very popular with the children... The adults didn't miss out either. The braised cheeks are highly recommended. Very tasty and cozy, the playground outside makes every child's heart smile. Parking (for a fee) is a 1-minute walk away.

Reservation was due to technical reasons. Reasons not possible. We should just come over. We were given a table on site that was unsuitable for us, 4 adults, 1 3-year-old child and an infant. After a lengthy discussion, we were allowed to go to a more suitable table for an hour. The "usherwoman" was unfriendly. The waiter was halfway ok. Cleared plates even though some at the table were still eating. The bill came straight away as the table was to be occupied again.

Great food, good service and the social atmosphere is always a pleasure. However, you should make a reservation at least a week in advance before you want to go there for dinner on the weekend. Food is an absolute recommendation! The finest delicacies from Bavarian cuisine. The foundation house is a clear recommendation.

The beautiful inn from the Augustiner Brewery in Munich has been beautifully designed and renovated. I think the playground for children is very good.

September 22nd, 2024 1:15 p.m. Today I was in this inn beer garden with my girlfriend. There was an employee at the entrance who told us that there were no more seats available. My friend was there yesterday with her whole family and was informed that you cannot reserve a table in the beer garden. (That was a very nice lady who was pregnant!) We told the employee what we were told yesterday. At the entrance there were a few tables unoccupied, so we could have sat down there (blazing sun at 25 degrees) with the remark that the parasols would not be opened. Are you crazy? Such outrageous behavior hasn't happened to me in a long time! Helpfulness, friendliness, etc. were missing from these employees! If you treat guests like that...!!! Dear Augustiner management... it would probably be in your interest to train the staff accordingly! By the way, we had a very good meal elsewhere and will definitely not be visiting this restaurant again! If it were possible, no point!!!

Beer garden is fine. Tomato soup was too thick, lukewarm and the croutons were too mushy (probably left in the soup for too long).

I accidentally ended up in the beer garden that belongs to it. Cozy, clean beer garden, very friendly staff, good food. Was very surprised by the cheap beer price, Augustiner on tap €3.90. Plenty of parking spaces with e-charging stations available.

We were treated very condescendingly by the usher. Although around a third of the tables in the restaurant's outdoor area were unoccupied during our entire visit, we had to eat in a corner at the already overcrowded regulars' table. A further request to sit at one of the numerous free tables was also rejected. The food didn't taste good under the conditions and the beautifully decorated facility couldn't make up for it. It left us with the impression of a beer bar with uninterested staff instead of a well-run restaurant. We won't come back. We do not recommend the restaurant.

Nice beer garden, clear menu, prices rather higher. Because this is a higher-priced location, there are no cushions for the chairs or blankets in the beer garden (which every restaurant, no matter how small, now has). When it gets dark, a few fairy lights come on in the self-service beer garden. In the operating section you sit in the dark. We still had daylight, the guests who came later had to read the menu using their cell phone light. Impossible. I don't know what the innkeeper is thinking. Probably nothing.

Nice staff and nice location. BUT: we were there on Sunday September 25th. at dinner. My girlfriend had a roast pork and I had a gut plate. 2 hours after our visit to the restaurant we both got food poisoning, which we had to cure for 3 days. After this experience - we will never go there again!!

We have been coming weekly since it opened and are very happy to have Gustl near us. The quality is always excellent except for a few times. The service and friendliness of the ga Zen staff is wonderful. Everyone is very attentive and accommodating. Prices have increased slightly since opening, but we feel it is in line with performance. The ambience makes you feel comfortable. Everything is of great value and very well maintained. Suggestion: Please don't make the portions of Kaiserschmarren smaller 😋

The food is good quality, but the price is on the upper average side for Bavarian cuisine. Unfortunately, I've encountered not so great service once or twice - sometimes you don't get the feeling that the customer is king. This could still be improved. Food is great. You can still eat and drink moderately. Unfortunately the staff wasn't very friendly. We would have liked to drink more, but unfortunately we were quicker to drink than the staff were to sell. But maybe we were just unlucky that evening.

Great Augustinian restaurant with reasonable prices

Insanely great atmosphere at Gut Freiham. Lovingly restored and expertly implemented. Super great work if you have some knowledge of the craft. Price performance for Munich 100 points

The boiled beef was served in a soup plate, the lightly fried potatoes floated in the soup and became soggy. The root vegetables, without celery, were also floating in the soup, which was by no means beef broth, the vegetables were half cooked, something from the freezer! The horseradish is sparingly grated on top, as if it were so expensive. Why not use a gravy boat for a beef broth and serve the potatoes on a separate plate. My phone complaint was taken and the response was arrogant. The Kaiserschmarren is by no means freshly prepared, it comes pre-baked from a baking tray, then cut up and served with a disgustingly sweet caramel sauce. Be careful not to eat there! Everything prepared quickly and carelessly!

A Gustl dream in Freiham!! Beer garden is wonderful. However, there are no measures... but the beer stays cold longer :)
