Great restaurant, good food, fine atmosphere

I can understand the staff, this is a restaurant and not a daycare center, there are also guests who would like to eat in peace in the evening and if you know the restaurant you can see that it is very child-friendly.

Had been there a few times before. It was definitely delicious there. This time the "service" or the behavior of the employees including the boss was terrible (sorry I can't find any other words for it). We were there with three children (announced and reserved in advance), service was poor from the start. It ended with the boss screaming at the baby! Because she knocked on the table with a spoon and said, 'That's enough now'. Then we were passively aggressively handed a dustpan. We're supposed to sweep up what's fallen on the floor. I am at a loss for words. Maybe the restaurant should write on the door: 'Unfortunately children have to stay away from here'. Wow.

Stressed staff yelling at guests because small children are loud.

This place serves traditional German food in a relaxed setting. We had the Schweinshaxe, and it was really well prepared — crispy skin, soft meat, and good seasoning. The service was friendly, and even though the restaurant was busy, everything ran smoothly. Just keep in mind they don’t take cards, so bring cash. A good option if you’re looking for something local.

The decor and ambiance at this restaurant is quirky and cozy. Food was authentic.. We had the Roast/Crispy pork knuckle which was devine! Also tried the Goulash which was tasty. Our waiter ELVIS was so friendly and helpful. He provided great service and recommended some nice after meal shots.

I ate the best pork knuckle in Berlin in this restaurant. Even after the sixth time in five years, I still think it's the best. Super friendly staff. Cozy and calm atmosphere. I recommend visiting this place.

Unfortunately, the taste and quality have deteriorated significantly. We come two or three times a year, but last week was probably the last time. We had several ham hocks, three of them were tough, the sauerkraut was the most disgusting thing I've ever had, couldn't eat it, the sauce didn't taste good and the dumplings were probably ready-made dumplings from a package at a supermarket. The lamb shank also tasted like it was prepared in old oil/fat. I used to always order half duck, but I didn't want to do that this time because it wasn't as tasty and crispy as before the last three times. Zur Haxe used to be one of my favorite German cuisine restaurants, but that was 4 or 5 years ago. 2 stars because the service is always really friendly.

Very nice and courteous service. Were there last Saturday. We come with our family about 2-3 times Year. Unfortunately, I feel like it's wearing off more and more. Unfortunately this time it was a low point in taste. The ham knuckle was nice and crispy, but quite dry and salt-free. The sauce was also mediocre and without salt. The sauerkraut was pure sour mush. The lamb shank also tasted more like old fat. I wouldn't come again if the family didn't always want to go. I hope it gets better again, the food used to be great, but unfortunately it hasn't been like it used to since Corona.

Nice place You have to like the ambience of grandma's living room, but you can see that beforehand. Food was OK, but could be much better.

I ordered pork knuckle with pea puree. I was looking forward to the puree and was totally disappointed. On the plate there was a porridge made from green peas but not pureed. I don't know it that way.

Make reservations, especially in weekends. Dining area is a little cramp. Very popular place.

Was there especially for the ham knuckle with sauerkraut and dumplings. Taste ok, but rather average - I've had better knuckles in Berlin. But what doesn't work at all - several hairs on the crust!!! Come on, people!! Sorry, but that just can't happen!! especially in a dish like this.

Four of us were there on March 20, 2025, looking for something to eat near the planetarium. “Quaint restaurant, lots of decorations, even huge teddy bears at the counter. Our waitress was all in on the fun, kept coming past the table and asking questions, everything was very attentive. Starters, 4 different main courses and 4 desserts, we had nothing to complain about, all in all, very tasty. Unfortunately I cannot upload photos. We had ordered Schmalzstulle, Hamburger Schnitzel, Steak au Four, cream mushrooms with medallions, half duck, chocolate pudding, two ice creams with raspberries, Kaiserschmarn.

Cozy restaurant away from the center, typical German food. We had 2 knuckles, salmon, sausages, sauerkraut and cheese for dinner for 5 people. Cash payment is not accepted by card. Everything was great, very attentive staff and cozy place

We had dinner with our in-laws and our 3 year old son. The waiter had a very pleasant manner. When he came in he wished me a happy women's day. When we sat down, he immediately brought our son something to paint, the painting surface was also the children's menu. The portions were large enough and everything was very tasty. Absolute recommendation, we will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, the schnitzel died again in the pan and the knuckle was also very dry. Sauce was a finished product. All in all it wasn't worth the visit and the price wasn't justified at all.

Was in the Haxe for the third time. Great staff - everyone is in an incredibly good mood. Food excellent: pork knuckle, grilled knuckle, coachman's plate - everything was perfect. Minus point: The now “modern” lighting using LED lamps is no longer as pleasant as before. The color temperature is too cool for me. Warm-tone lighting like the ones we used to have with incandescent lamps is more comfortable.

Simply an all-round perfect restaurant experience! We had a delicious meal - I had the farmer's breakfast, my husband had the knuckle with dumplings and my father-in-law had the lamb knuckle. Everything was excellently prepared and incredibly tasty. The crowning finale was the warm apple strudel with ice cream, vanilla sauce and cream – an absolute delight! The atmosphere is cozy and the service deserves special praise: attentive, fast, professional and at the same time very warm and not intrusive. My husband and father-in-law are already regular guests, for me it was the first time - but definitely not the last! I'm thrilled and will definitely come back. A big plus: a ramp is provided for wheelchair users - really exemplary! Thank you for this wonderful visit – see you soon! 😊

Service absolutely top!!! It's been a long time since I met such a great, attentive and nice service person! Unfortunately, the food [pork knuckles €18.50] was only good. Crust way too hard. It was absolutely unfortunate that there was no more pea puree early on Friday evening. That's part of it for us. Dumpling was very tasty.

I only read about this restaurant at the end of last year and since we need a weekly stop after sports, I've been here twice in January. Price/performance is top and very pleasant for the PBerg, as are the guests and the Haxe team. I felt comfortable both times, the atmosphere is unbeatably kitschy, but that's exactly what there has to be!!!! Thank you very much and I'll be happy to come back!

Great food, better reserve in advance

We were in Berlin and I was really hungry for a knuckle. We were lucky on the phone and were able to reserve a table. As described, the staff in Bavarian costume. Of course I ordered a knuckle (ham knuckle). Simply delicious including sauerkraut and dumplings and sauce, even my wife, who tried it, was thrilled. My wife had chicken fry with cauliflower, also very tasty. So if you want to eat a knuckle or something rustic in Berlin, I can only recommend the knuckle

Small portions at high prices! Rarely seen such a little knuckle! The prices on the online menu are not current! Crooked lamps and stuffed animals from Rossman are not a must! Compared to before, it has deteriorated a lot!

One of the best all-you-can-eat German beer halls Kochi in various variations you can eat Schnitzel and all the goodies of German traditional cuisine. The place is beautifully decorated and the staff wear traditional clothes!

Worst restaurant ever? Came in at 16:17 and the waitress said that all the tables are reserved from 17:00. So I said I can eat in 40 mins? And she said no? I don’t get it? There was literally NO ONE in the place?! It was almost empty? DONT COME. They don’t also don’t accept card. Are you living in the 1800s?

One of the hottest restaurants with Alpine flair in a rustic atmosphere in the middle of Berlin. The food and drinks are absolutely top. And the best thing is the crew - you just have to love them. Our band has been coming here for years and is always happy.

A nice German style fine dining experience. Their drink selection is great, however don’t recommend the fruit brandy/schnapps as the amount given is very small, almost like a free sample you’d give to someone to try. Did not like that getting remainder of food leftover as takeaway there’s a 1 euro charge without anyone informing of this. Make sure to make a reservation, otherwise a good chance you’ll be turned away.

I visit this restaurant often and have never been disappointed. If you are in Berlin and want to experience german cooking, this is the place to go. You will probably love it if you are British, as you can get roast pork with crackling (the Haxe). The staff are really lovely and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

The crispy pork knuckle blew me away. it's huge and crunchy outside and tender inside. The atmosphere felt cozy. Bonus points for the waitstaff rocking traditional outfits, it added such a cool vibe

We had a great visit to this restaurant! German cuisine is simply fantastic – the portions are huge and at a really fair price. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable here! The wait staff was super accommodating and really looked after us well. You can tell that a great team works together here and supports each other. The decoration is also a highlight - fun and interesting, which makes the ambience even more pleasant. I can only warmly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit!

Food is great, but we were charged by extra fee (4.5 euro) just because we were not so hungry and only shared one main course. I never had any similar experience in Germany. Service is extremely terrible, waited for so long/ unfriendly waitress/starter was given with main dish without asking/ordered hot chocolate but came with cream without asking me as well. Recommended by a friend but I’m very disappointed after driving for so long to get there.

As soon as you enter the restaurant you are warmly welcomed by the warm, friendly and professional staff. The dishes are lovingly prepared, taste perfectly balanced and impress with their high quality. You can feel that the cooking here is done with passion and skill. The atmosphere is another reason why we love coming here. It feels like a little vacation in Bavaria: cozy, authentic and just to feel good. A culinary highlight! I absolutely loved the restaurant “Zur Haxe”. The ham knuckle was absolutely amazing - tender, juicy and with an incredibly crispy crust. A poem for all meat lovers! The crowning finale was a fantastic Kaiserschmarrn, which catapulted me straight into culinary paradise. The service was really outstanding - the staff were not only extremely friendly, but also very attentive and empathetic. You felt welcome and well looked after right from the start. Absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to enjoy hearty Bavarian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. A place I will definitely come back to!

Oh man, what can you say here? You have to experience Zur Haxe because the employees are awesome, so nice, friendly and they can really do their job. They know what they serve and what the differences are. They are also very child-friendly, which is not a given. The food is really good, the knuckle is simply a dream. There was half a duck which was also really good. We'll be back, that's a promise.

After a long time again! Service friendly and accommodating. Ambience rather kitschy with stuffed animals!?? I remembered the ham knuckle to be larger and, above all, tastier. The cabbage was pale and tasteless, the hash browns were cold and definitely not homemade.

My younger brother came to visit from Korea and wanted to try the food he had in Munich, so I searched carefully and it was super delicious :) The restaurant is a bit far away, but it was worth the trip. Reservation required before going!!

It is a picturesque and authentic place! We ate very well and they treated us very well although they didn't even speak English well but they made an effort to serve us very well. Ideal to go with children, I think even dog friendly. You have to try it!

Delicious food, friendly staff who were very accommodating to a non-German speaker. Crispy duck was excellent. Highly recommended and I will be going back. Edit: A few years later and while I haven’t been back to Germany, I think about this cozy spot all the time. Eating here ended up being a very memorable experience for me. It’s hard to explain, but the customers and staff were just so warm and welcoming to some random American. I hope they’re all doing well.

For a Latin palate I don't consider it to be the best. If traditional German food is like this, you can try to try it, but I think you will be disappointed. Now, I think there are things for everyone, surely the Germans love it, because of the traditional thing, but at least for a Latin palate that is used to foods with very bright flavors, this food is very far from that.
