Zur Eiche in Bad Schandau

Had dinner there with the family today The starter was great and the penne with salmon was a disgrace. I had to look for the salmon, the pasta was soggy and there was no sauce.

The waitress was very busy and almost ran. Too few staff

We were looking forward to a nice meal in the inn. Unfortunately the dishes were more than disappointing. The goulash consisted of low-quality meat and was swimming in a kind of gravy therefore. Unfortunately, the appearance completely corresponded to the taste. The schnitzel was not “flattened” as usual, but was very thick and unfortunately the taste was not satisfactory.

There is a problem with the staff. Professional competence!!

The pension from the Hupfer family can be recommended without reservation. Nice communication in advance, absolutely hospitable house. The room was clean, nicely decorated, small but functional bathroom. Despite consistently high outside temperatures of over 30 degrees a day, the room was always pleasantly cool. The location on the street didn't bother us as there is hardly any traffic at night. Great breakfast buffet with a large selection, everything lovingly prepared and presented. 100% recommendation!

Short vacation with my sister from Friday to Sunday at the beginning of July 2024 for a concert on Saturday at Königstein Fortress. Krippen near Bad Schandau is easily accessible and has a beautiful location on the Elbe with its own pier for the ferry and hiking boat. Only a short walk from the guesthouse. The guest house with guest house is romantically located between half-timbered houses on a small stream with a beautiful guest house with German-Czech cuisine. There are sufficient free parking spaces. The quiet rooms are new and lovingly furnished with a large flat screen TV. We had to climb a few steps in the attic. No problem for us; If you have physical limitations, simply ask for a room further down. The room key was stored in a safe with an access code. Breakfast is followed by a lovingly designed buffet with selected local products and is completely sufficient. Even homemade eggnog invites you to try it. What can I say; Everyone has their own demands, more or less. We liked it so much that we will definitely come back, especially because Saxon + Bohemian Switzerland has so much to offer. By the way, with the guest card you receive you can use the S-Bahn (among other things, Dresden is only half an hour away), VVO buses, ferries (not excursion ships) and the Kirschnitztalbahn (tram) free of charge and offers other advantages and discounts. In an hour you can reach the CZ by hiking boat. There is, among other things, a large thermal bath in Bad Schandau and then there is the Königstein Fortress. It is so huge that it takes several days to see everything. You can also eat well and quite cheaply upstairs in the “Napoleon Kitchen”. And there are a lot of historic restaurants. From above there is a fantastic view of the Elbe and the paddle steamers passing by. It makes you realize again what beautiful corners our homeland has.

We stayed in the guesthouse for a few days for the second time with a small child. It's pleasantly quiet in the hallways. The room, as always, without any defects The reason we booked the second time was that we felt comfortable there. From booking to arrival to eating to departure. The staff is always friendly and if you needed something they brought it to us. The breakfast buffet was lovingly prepared and there was something for everyone. The new thing in the guesthouse is that there is a refrigerator in the hallway that is stocked with drinks. You pay for the drinks upon departure. The dinner in the guesthouse's restaurant was very tasty and the service was very friendly. [Hanna] Our daughter then said Hanna to everyone. We were able to see a lot in the region again. We will book this guesthouse a third time and look forward to next year.

As we drove past, we asked if it was open and where we could find a parking space for our vehicle. The answer from the waiter “at Rewe”. No idea where Rewe was, but no matter we found one. Went back to the restaurant afterwards and enjoyed the menu. We were assigned a place in the warm and stuffy guest room. After a 10-hour drive and a day in the car, we would have liked to sit outside by the rushing stream. So I went to the waiter and asked for an outside seat. His answer with a smug smile was “no, we won’t do that”. I sat down again and thought to myself ok, you just lost at least 80.00 euros in sales plus tips. Ordered 2 drinks and a ragout fin. And done. Afterwards we went to the competitor's terrace and sat outside in a pleasant atmosphere with a mild breeze and good food. The bad thing was actually that the waiter stood in the open outside doors every free second to get some cool and fresh air.

We had dinner in the evening. The restaurant was well attended but you still found a table in the garden and received friendly service. The food was very tasty and well portioned. Price and performance were right and the service was perfect.

I stayed at Pension Zur Eiche with my wife for 5 days and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean, modern and lovingly furnished. The breakfast buffet is extremely varied for a small guesthouse. Everyone should find something here. The accommodation is located in the Krippen district. To get to the center of Bad Schandau you have to cross the Elbe. There is a car bridge not far away, but it was easier for us to use the ferry. This is only a few meters away and is free thanks to the guest card. As far as we noticed, dogs and bicycles have to be paid extra. We easily reached all activities using public transport. We can also highly recommend the inn (different owner) located in the same building. Dear Hupfer family, we would like to thank you for the wonderful time!

Billed too much! We ordered takeaway. The extra ketchup was not included. Instead of the penne with salmon for 14.50, the salmon fillet with beans and croquettes was charged for 18.90. Paid 5.40 EUR too much. Unfortunately I only noticed it in the car. This meant that no complaint was possible.

We were in the inn for the second time today and were thrilled! Everything we ordered was freshly prepared and very, very tasty. We're going on holiday here on the Elbe for another week and will definitely not go to another restaurant It doesn't get any better than this inn!!!

We would stay in the guesthouse over the Easter holidays and eat there twice (around 4 p.m.). We can really recommend both, the rooms are new and modern, and the breakfast is top notch. Fresh rolls, new spreads and toppings and a very nice and friendly staff made the start of the day easy. We were also very impressed with the dinner. Price performance unbeatable. Good German home cooking. Very well seasoned, freshly prepared and super quick. The waiter was always attentive. Absolute recommendation, would love to come back.b

I was at the restaurant for dinner. The goulash was tasty, although at 12 pieces it was a bit small for someone who hikes all day. There were enough dumplings for that. Price performance ratio ok. Ambiance is good, if you are not a solo traveler and are seated at the cat table, the only one without lighting. Service superficially friendly.

The following review is exclusively for the restaurant as we only dined: We had dinner at the Gasthaus zur Eiche during the week at the beginning of January. The dining room is cozy and the service is very friendly and quick. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for the quantity. Unfortunately, the online menu is not up to date with either the food offerings or the prices.

We stayed in this guesthouse for 3 days over New Year's Eve. It is a modern room with a well-equipped and clean bathroom. Arrival and departure were also problem-free and very easy with very nice staff. Unlike other hotels, payment is very easy to make by invoice or cash. The location is great. From here you can go on great trips, such as to the Bastei and Königstein Fortress, without having to take long journeys. You can also go on great hikes directly from the town. The associated inn provided us with great food with a balanced breakfast and it is also worth eating here in the evening. We were really very satisfied and would like to go back straight away.

The room was clean and simply furnished. The breakfast was very good. Because of the kitchen for the restaurant in the house, there was always a very unpleasant smell of food in the house and also in our room. Conclusion: We would have expected more for the price.

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner. There were enough free places, probably due to the low season. The restaurant was relatively cool. In the end we really froze. The food was ok. Changing the supplement was no problem. But it can cost extra. If you only tip €2.50 you won't even get a thank you or a goodbye. A beautiful experience looks different.
