Both pork and chicken schnitzel are great. We loved the green sauce unique to Frankfurt. Pork shank is delicious. The place is unique in terms of location. A great meal outside if the weather is nice.

My partner and I stopped in here looking for lunch. We ordered the Jägerschnitzel and “Ei gude wie”. The latter included half a hard-boiled egg, Frankfurter green sauce, which tasted increasingly strange the more you ate it, hand cheese, a seemingly very old slice of bread and a Frankfurter sausage that had seen better days. The schnitzel was edible but the mushroom sauce was very thick and the fries were lukewarm and limp. The price/performance ratio is rather poor and we left disappointed and partly hungry. Especially in this tourist-rich spot, the Frankfurter Römer, it is a shame if you essentially damage your own business with such a service.

Excellent place! We went twice during our stay in Frankfurt. The abundant and delicious food, the friendly waitresses and the super warm atmosphere and decoration.

We were impressed. Traditional German food. Beautiful surroundings. The price seemed fair for the location. Our waitress was brisk but not rude. We would recommend.

We stopped by for dinner. The reservation was a bit tricky, but it worked after the second call. Very friendly service. We were seated on the first floor. The food, as always, was delicious and beautifully presented. We'll be happy to return.

I had knuckles on the table, the amount was just enough, but what was brought out was a bit cold, it was soft, I didn't feel the real crunchiness. But the place is very nice, facing Főtér.

Super uncomfortable. We sat down because we wanted to have a few beers, we waited forever to be served, they gave us the menu, we waited another forever until they came and took our order, and then when they went to take our order they told us that not only could they take drink orders, but that we had to order food too. Incredible loss of time and bad time.

Delicious food, regional specialties such as: B. Schnitzel with green sauce and fried potatoes. Generally solid home cooking. Very friendly waiter, nice atmosphere directly at the Römer, not a long waiting time despite many guests on a sunny weekend. Spontaneous reservation was made possible for us 8 women, THANK YOU for that too. Overall a good price/performance ratio, absolutely recommended.

Excellent food and top location. We had a very cozy seat on the 1st floor, with a beautiful view over Römer Square. Waiter was very friendly.

A Frankfurt restaurant located on Römerplatz. Although it is aimed at tourists, the food is delicious and you can fully enjoy the taste of Germany. The price is not high either. It just feels like a good balance. Also, it was nice to see that the toilets had been renovated. Women might be happy.

I had dinner in this delightful place during a business trip. We ate really well! the typical menu offers many alternatives, even for those who eat gluten-free or vegetarian. The only flaw is that we had to wait a long time for the table and it was not possible to leave a name for the reservation. The welcome wasn't the best but until the end of the evening I can say that the service was still good overall.

As soon as I entered the restaurant I was warmly welcomed. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. My meal, a classic Handkäs with music, was served within a few minutes and tasted excellent. I was particularly impressed by the ambience, which is reminiscent of Frankfurt's old town with its charming and rustic style and creates a cozy, feel-good atmosphere. Overall, a thoroughly successful visit. I can definitely recommend this place and would love to come back!

Discovered this restaurant by chance, were able to stay even though we hadn't made a reservation, got 3x schnitzel with green sauce, a dream, totally delicious, price/performance ratio perfectly fine, toilet in the basement can only be reached via stairs, ground level entrance, were 12/ 24 there and would love to come back.

The registry office is very cozy. Has a great, nice, cheerful boss, good home-style food. You feel very comfortable there on the beautiful Römerplatz. Even in summer you can sit outside and watch everything. We would love to come back Conny and Dieter Knorr

We were on January 4th. 2025 in the registry office and had a very good meal there. I find it very admirable how the waitresses master these stairs, it's absolute madness, and if you have such nice waitresses like dear Zana, who works despite her birthday, then the boss has done everything right. Greetings from beautiful Münster, we'll be back.

Absolutely solid! Home cooking. Nice rustic atmosphere. Prices are absolutely fine. Ate “green sauce” for the first time - and if it tastes like that, the Frankfurter Schnitzel is definitely a recommendation.

Came here years ago and the Jager schnitzel was one of the best I’d ever had. I never forgot it. As the saying goes… you can never go back. It is still good, the sauce has a nice creaminess to it. The fries were okay. The ladies hustle in there. On a cold day there was a constant influx of people wanting to be seated. I loved the stairs and the quotes. I’m sure there is a bigger story behind all the romantic quotes. During warmer months it would still be a great place to come for reasonable priced food and great people watching.

The schnitzel here is amazing. One plate can feed a couple. Order one per person if it is gluttony-day or bulking day. Beer here is good. The place is run by a group of German ladies. They say we visited a drunk/crazy guy was making a big scene and they handled the situation like a boss.

Nice place with traditional food! We appreciate that the waiter spoke Spanish, he was friendly and helpful! I would only suggest improving the presentation of the potato, with some seasoning or serving them fried.

Delicious food. We ordered Goulasch, German red wine and escargot. Everything very well seasoned. All foods had a well-defined flavor. Small but pleasant and cozy atmosphere. The escargot au gratin was delicious. I highly recommend the goulasch.

We just wanted to sit down and have a drink in the registry office at the Römer, but were immediately turned away because this was probably not welcome. In order not to be completely wasted, we decided to order some food too. Unfortunately, the food was really nothing special - neither in terms of taste nor presentation. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience as one was hoping for a little more hospitality and quality from the location at Römerplatz. We probably won't come back.

Friendly welcome, top meal, generous dish, the structure is cozy, typical German. We had pork with mushrooms accompanied by succulent sautéed potatoes. We came to eat there during the Christmas market weekend. We recommend closing your eyes

As this place is in the middle of the tourist center of Frankfurt, it was busy and crowded when we arrived there. Glad to have made a reservation. I had pork knuckles and sausages, sourkrout and fried potatoes and dark beer, and my friend had a staple of schnitzel and sausages and dark beer. My pork knuckles was way dry. The sausage was as expected. Nothing special. I guess that what you expect in a place of touristy areas. Ambience and server were great. The beer was excellent.

The food was great. There were beautiful Hessian dishes, traditional, tasty and very well cooked. Service: We had rather unfriendly service. When asked if there was decaffeinated coffee, they first said no and then said that this coffee was shit and not worth it here. So far so good. When I paid, I said with card and was asked directly by our waitress if I didn't have any cash. Since everything happened very quickly and I was perplexed, I paid in cash, probably to secure the tip. So the restaurant is nice, tasty and good, but unfortunately I can only complain about the service.

Great German cuisine in Frankfurt! Historic restaurant where you can try the best German cuisine at the right price. Menu in German and English, friendly staff. We were there two evenings in a row trying different dishes, all excellent. Well done

We were there as a team, closing for the 2024 Christmas party. We ordered food, half of which was served cold. We sent it back and asked for warm food. After 20 minutes our food came again, but unfortunately it was cold again. The service staff apologized but did not offer an alternative. Just saying we could get dessert or an espresso. If you get cold food twice, it doesn't work at all. The restaurant is very centrally located, but is nevertheless not recommended. Schnitzel was okay, but duck with dumplings and red cabbage, the most expensive item on the menu, is not good at all. The wild goulash with dumplings was also cold, really not recommended. We ask that you refrain from sending a standard message with excuses.

The worst restaurant (by far) in a month in Europe (lunch and dinner every day in different places and countries). The food was average, the prices were in line with the level of the food, but if you want to be treated like a human being, stay away from this place! They mistreat tourists, which is ridiculous, since they are located in the most touristic place in Frankfurt! If you want to be treated well, eat better, and not have a bad experience, on the other side of the square there is Alten Limpurg.

Contrary to other reviews, I didn’t feel the service was cold or bad in any way. Yes, they do try and encourage cash, but there was no pushback when I told them I only had my card. Food was decent but not remarkable. Now, I don’t know if that’s because of the restaurant or simply because of it being traditional German cuisine (how good can sausage, potatoes and sauerkraut be, afterall?) gluhwein here was really nice though. No added sugar which is a plus. The Dyson hand dryer in the bathroom is positioned too high. That’s my biggest complaint (no star deductions though, just an observation)

AMAZING place! Great food! And we got AWESOME service from Angelica. She was just absolutely AWESOME from the get go. She advised us exactly what to get and every recommendation was mouth watering delicious. They are very casual and let you take any seat that you find available - and best part is your not left waiting endlessly for a server to show up. They watch as soon as you are seated and send someone over to serve you The cuisine is authentic German to a mix of fusion (given they are in the most touristic location of Frankfurt ). We decided to go with authentic German and were pleasantly surprised! Definitely recommend everyone to give them a try and you will be happy that you did!

The atmosphere and food are good. The old lady’s service is so unbelievable. You can pay by credit card, but they force you to pay cash and tip. I thought there was nothing like this in Germany...

The waitress simply ignored us. We waited for about 20 minutes and called their attention to us several times. I have rarely experienced such bad service. This is not acceptable. The people at the next table had the same problem.

Traditional expensive restaurant in a century-old building in the Roman Forum When looking for food in Germany, it’s generally easy to find traditional restaurants in old taverns. This restaurant is located in a beautiful building in the Roman Forum. The building itself is over 155 years old. Its predecessor was the hotel of the same name that opened in 1902 and is a popular wedding venue for locals. In 1983, a new restaurant of the same name opened. Since then, the owner Herbert Kröpl has maintained the German tradition of running the restaurant. Environment: There are about ten tables indoors, very cozy. Dishes: 1) German Pork Knuckle: The meat is tender and juicy, but the skin is not crispy enough. 2) cheese Spätzle: delicious. Value for money: Very good.

I cannot recommend the café!!! The waitress (older lady) was totally unfriendly and refused to serve us. Maybe she has a problem with foreign citizens!?

Me and my friend went there despite some bad reviews. The food is okay, could be more spicy, but the meat is very good. If you don't know, like my friend, that you can only cut beef meat in one direction, don't be surprised (no sawhorse!). The ambience is great. Really nice and cuddly. Reminds me of Christmas. You are assigned a table. This is unusual, but understandable given the number of visitors. So no couples sit on 4s etc. After all, the house wants to make money. It's true that you can only go in there if you also eat. However, a restaurant is not a pub either. In Germany it is common to eat in restaurants. There were no problems with the tip, but we were only served by the boss. My friend gave 2.50 euros for 70 euros. I paid another 2 euros because of the good service. We weren't put under any pressure etc. The service was quick and friendly and responded to eye contact as it should. Additional calling is therefore really unnecessary. If it is very crowded in summer you should have some understanding. The prices were completely ok for the performance. My friend ordered a rump steak, which is a bit more expensive than the rest and we also had dessert. The portions were always generous. Tip: If you go to good houses, you should at least always say please and thank you.

Nice ambience and solid food. A young waiter was particularly friendly and accommodating. However, the rest of the staff seemed very unfriendly and made you feel very unwanted.

Just random pick this up, as I thought could all offering knuckle as German food in these restaurants. The Sauerkraut is tasted good, the knuckle skin is just good to chew, Q but not hard. The meat is ok too, not dry. Basically, I like this.

Extremely(!!) rude and slow service.

Normally I never give reviews, but I have to get rid of the impressions I gathered yesterday. Yesterday was a really cold, gray and windy day. The two of us wanted to stop for lunch. Since it was so cold, when we arrived we wanted to ask if there was a space available for us inside. We were then rudely rejected and told “find a place outside!!!” pushed outside. At this point we were already feeling very uncomfortable. A second waitress then came outside and complained about the working conditions and the pay, which was nowhere as bad as here, and that the food was cheaper and of lower quality than at McDonald's. How can you make such a statement while guests are there? When you hear something like that, it's best to get up and just leave. After a few minutes we had the menus literally slapped onto the table. Our order was taken relatively quickly. We asked what a certain dish would consist of, and the answer was extremely unfriendly. When our drinks arrived, a huge invasion of wasps appeared, so we asked if we could get straws so we could have a drink without accidentally choking on a wasp. This too was met with a snarky “we don’t have straws!!!!” dismissed. A couple sat behind us ordering coffee. When it came and it probably tasted different than expected, the waitress reacted angrily and said "Espresso is espresso!!!" And just walked away instead of addressing the complaint. The couple paid and left the restaurant. When the waitress cleared their table, she said to the other waitress "ah yeah, the coffee probably didn't taste good." In general, every single (non-German speaking) guest was gossiped about. It's only stupid when Germans understand that. be present and understand everything!! You feel so rejected! Another group was also attacked by wasps. When she went in, both waitresses came out and one said to the other "where is table xy, did you take an order there?" the other said "no, they were busy with the wasps, then I let them fight". Instead of helping the guests fend off the giant wasps, they prefer to make fun of them. What kind of service is this? You get the feeling that the waitresses want the guest to have as bad an experience as possible so that they can leave and they can have peace and quiet. All in all, I have never experienced such terrible service and treatment of guests. It's really horrible how they treat their customers here.

As a woman, I asked politely if I could use the toilet and the waitress said “No” before I could finish my sentence. Very unfriendly and you shouldn't have forbidden me.

I haven't even been able to eat, the lady with short hair directly kicked me out of the restaurant in a very bad manner when I came in to ask for a table, I hope things go very badly for them.

Very busy , service little down. But the food is perfect 👍
