Hello everyone, I didn't really want to write a review, but because of what happened today I feel compelled to. Today I was at the restaurant with a colleague at 5:30 p.m. Although there were two large tables available inside, the waitress told us there was nothing available. Well, we didn't have a reservation. That's ok too! So we decided to sit outside. The waitress not only seemed stressed, but was also unfriendly. Of course I understand that you have to wait for your drinks when it's busy, but 20 minutes just for the drinks is really too long. We were told the wait time for food would be 20-30 minutes. We agreed - but in the end we had to wait over two hours. Occasionally we asked if we could sit down inside after some guests had finished eating. We were told we would be seated as soon as a table became available. In the end we were seated at a table that had been vacant the entire time. When our food finally came, it was burnt. After waiting over two hours, my colleague ate it anyway. When the waiter later asked how the food was, my colleague answered honestly that the fried potatoes were burnt and the breading on the meat was too burnt. Instead of apologizing, the waiter reacted extremely rudely and said: “You should have said that beforehand! First eat the food and then complain – that sucks!” He also asked us if we knew how he felt with such a busy operation. My colleague replied that he had only answered the question about how the food was. And since we waited over two hours for it, he just ate it. Particularly worth mentioning: My colleague is 60 years old. As a young person, you should have a little respect for older people! A full restaurant should actually be a reason for the team to be happy. But instead, the stressed-out employees took out their frustration on the guests - and that is unacceptable.

Nice service. Food barbecue set very good. The ribs look delicious, but in fact the meat is dry and did not fall off the bone. To sum up the set of grilled meats, I would happily order the ribs again, but I wouldn't order the ribs again.

I've been going there for years when I'm in Höchst. Always tasty and plentiful, I can also only recommend the dark beer. A quaint restaurant with nice service and ambience. Keep it up…

Great “good German” cuisine, always seasonal variations such as goose, kale, etc. Friendly and courteous service, “comfortable” rooms.

In keeping with the pre-Christmas season there was roast goose with red cabbage and two types of dumplings. As always, it was super tasty.

We ate here as a group. We had reserved about 6 weeks in advance. Unfortunately we were seated at separate tables that were clearly a few meters apart. There were tables of other guests between us. The second table was so close to the counter that the waitress always bumped into the chair when she had to go there. No questions asked about another drink or dessert request. Food was tasty and sufficient, but no reason to come back. Things were much friendlier in the Swan the year before.

Zum Mittagessen mit meiner Gattin. Auf die Frage nach Gansessen wurde gesagt, es kämen extra Gäste zum Gansessen. Ein solcher Reinfall. Haut nich. cross, völlig geschmacklos. Einfach schlecht.

The roast pork is a delicacy. The atmosphere makes you feel comfortable straight away and the service is super friendly, nice and very accommodating.

The Gasthaus Alte Zollwache is a quaint German restaurant on Höchster Schlossplatz. With typical Hessian and German dishes. When the weather is good, it's lovely to sit in the beer garden with a view of the castle. Friendly staff that came under a bit of pressure due to the busy beer garden. There is a wide selection of drinks and food, as well as a weekly menu. The price/performance ratio is right and corresponds to the location.

Delicious roast pork with dumpling. Facility clean but old-fashioned.

Fresh, very well prepared food. The spritzers were wonderfully refreshing. The prices are a bit too high. The dumpling with chanterelles in particular was overpriced, almost 19 euros for that is crazy.

Today the two of us went to eat at the old customs station 🥘 There was a handkäss. The bread was very tasty and the hand cheese was also good with lots of onions in the vinegar/oil 👌For the main course I had cheese spaetzle and my friend had a Viennese veal schnitzel. Both dishes were very good 👍 We always enjoy coming here 👌

It wasn't the first time we had stopped by the old customs station. I was very happy with my herring, but I can't say anything about the other dishes. It is a very nice place to rest. What I almost forgot, our beer was brought in stoneware mugs which was a huge advantage given the heat.

No matter what you order, it tastes the way it should taste! the service is extremely nice. The atmosphere is very nice, especially in summer!

In the middle of the old town, very nicely located. Absolutely delicious food, the Tafelspitz is highly recommended. The service was good and quick. It was a pleasure.

Ordered daily special. Loin with chanterelles and salad. Sauce was like water, same was the taste, chanterelles had a strange taste 🙄 Ordered salad with turkey breast. Salad was the same as mine, only with turkey breast, carelessly prepared. And as if it couldn't get any worse, 2 more cold espressos 🙄

Stopped by spontaneously and had a delicious meal with friendly service in a pleasant atmosphere outside. We'd love to come back.

Alles, was wir bestellt haben, von Fisch über Schnitzel zu vegetarisch, war alles richtig gut. Die Drinks gebenso wie das Dessert. Gute deutsche traditionelle Küche wie Getränke. Danke gerne wieder. Mit unseren Hunden war kein Problem.

Ein sonniger Sonntag im April mit gutem Essen. Der Aussenbereich war gut besucht und wir (2 Erw.mit Hund) haben kurz auf freie Plätze gewartet. Wir wählten gebratene Leber und Schnitzel „ Alte Zollwache“. Beides wurde nach kurzer Zeit serviert. Die Erwartungen wurden voll erfüllt. Die Leber war reichlich und die Bratkartoffeln ebenso. Auch das Schnitzel war sehr gut. Die Bedienung war freundlich und auf Zack. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und würden beim nächsten Besuch in Höchst wieder einkehren.

Great day on the bike, for the first time at “Alte Zollwache”. It makes no sense to equip sloping cobblestones with cheap beer tent sets. 2 benches are simply folded up after being occupied. Backup was not active. Very shaky business there. We had 2 beers and 2 Händkäs with music. Beer, well it was a Munich sweet beer in the middle of Hesse, it really could be better. We actually wanted to drink cider with Handkäs. But there was only Old Hochstädter out of the bottle, they should drink it there themselves. The hand cheese, oh my god. It was nice to open it, the cheese was much too cold and dry, the menu said farmer's bread, but there was grain bread and that wasn't fresh even on a Saturday lunchtime. The music, I've never had anything worse. Tasted like broth from a rollmops jar. But maybe we were just there at the wrong time.

Drinks expensive (small still water costs €3.20 and a wheat beer costs €5.30) So I think over 16.00 DM is harsh. Food was ok for today's standards. You got used to it. If it tastes as good as here, accepted! ....... but the bottled finished drinks............ ouch.

In the summer you like to sit outside here, but it's also very comfortable inside. Even though there was only one person in service, there was always enough to eat and drink. The day menu alone offers a great selection. Only the desserts could be a little more.

Eine Gaststätte mit Geschichte und mit schönem rustikalen Ambiente. Die Speisekarte bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas und alle Speisen sind sehr lecker.

Frankfurter Küsschen, Essen wR sehr gut und reichlich. Der Sitzplatz auf dem Hochstuhl ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Gibt aber auch normale Plätze dafür sollte man reservieren.

Wir waren aufgrund einer Empfehlung dort. Ich hatte eine Schweinshaxe mit Kartoffelpürrè und Sauerkraut. Volle Punktzahl. Sehr leckere Zubereitung.

Consigliatissimo per chi vuole mangiare in una taverna tipica non troppo affollata. Io ho preso le Käsespetzle con speck e cipolla. La cipolla non è solo sopra come in foto ma anche all’interno. Buonissimi. Mio marito ha preso lo schweinehaxen con una polpetta di pane e crauti con speck. Saporito.

Der Service war sehr nett und super aufmerksam. Man sitzt gemütlich und das Ambiente ist einfach toll. Mein Essen hatte leider sehr viele Zwiebeln und dadurch war der Geschmack sehr intensiv. Aber das Essen meiner Begleitung war perfekt.

Super Gastwirtschaft in der Altstadt von Höchst direkt neben dem Schloss. Von hier sind es 2 Minuten zum Main. Essen war klasse, Service super. Bierbänke draußen laden zum Verweilen ein. Preise absolut fair. Top!

Waren gestern nach einem kleinen Spaziergang dort zum Essen und waren alle sehr zufrieden. Das Essen war lecker und nicht zu teuer, der Service war sehr gut und sehr freundlich. Einen Punktabzug gibt es nur wegen der Bierzeltgarnituren, die sind leider nicht wirklich gemütlich. Aber trotzdem würde ich jederzeit wieder dort Essen gehen.

Leckeres Essen und Trinken zum guten Preis. EC-Kartenzahlung ist möglich. Sehr nettes Personal.

Supernette Bedienung, schöne Lage in der Altstadt Ofenkartoffel mit Pilzen- sehr lecker

Zum Essen kann ich leider nichts sagen, da es mir nicht möglich war einen Platz einzunehmen. Ich war an einem Montag vor Ort und wollte zusammen mit miner Frau am Schloßplatz essen gehen. Da ich mit dem Rollstuhl unterwegs bin fragte ich die sichtlich gestresste Bedienung, ob es möglich sei einen der Bänke zu verschieben um mit meinem Rolli am Tisch sitzen zu können. Das wurde kurzangebunden abgelehnt. Es wurde nicht mal versucht mir einen Platz anzubieten ( es waren welche frei ), es hieß nur, nein, da müsste der Service durch. Auf meine Anfrage zu dem unerfreulichen Vorfall hin per Mail hin hielt es die Geschäftsleitung nicht für nötig zu antworten. Schade, aber Inklusion ist für viele Menschen immer noch ein Fremdwort

Wir waren am Wochenende hier essen, wir hatten jeweils ein Schnitzel bestellt. Dieses kam auch recht schnell, leider war die Qualität des Essen sehr mau. Als man die Schnitzel Aufschnitt sah man das es grau war und eher einem konvinieren Produkt ähnelt, was man nur durch die Fritöse gejagt hat. Das Schnitzel hat leider auch nicht wirklich geschmeckt und teile hier von war ungenießbar.

Alte Zollwache ist eine sehr gute Gastronomie die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich und das Essen sehr genießbar ich werd auf jeden Fall nochmal gehen !!

Mit einem befreundeten Paar haben wir uns auf dem Schlossplatz getroffen und uns für diesed Lokal entschieden. Wir haben diese Entscheidung nicht bereut. Die Salate waren bei allen eine riesiege Portion. Die Ofenkartoffel und dee Camembert waren angenehm warm. Dee Service auf Zack und auch beim grössten Stress noch super nett. Die Preise sind für die Qualität absolut in Ordnung. Man sitzt auch sehr ruhig da hier kein Auto lang kommt.

War heute mit meinem Sohn im Restaurant ich hatte mir eine Folienkartoffel auf Salat mit Hähnchenbrust bestellt Folienkartoffel sollte mit Sauerrahm sein im ersten Moment war das Essen okay als ich das Hähnchenbrust probiert hatte hat es einen asiatischen touch süß saure Soße als ich anschließend zum Salat kam war der extrem süß also es ist der Bedienung sagte meinte sie nur na ja das ist halt so also mein Fazit Bedienung nett gemütlich aber ich würde es nicht noch mal essen wollen ich habe den Salat stehen lassen die Kombination stehenlassen die Kombination Folienkartoffeln mit Sauerrahm etwas Hähnchen süß-sauer asiatischer touch und dann noch diesen extrem süßen Salat man kann ruhig hin aber man sollte nicht zuviel erwarten

In historischem Umfeld findet man hier einen schön gepflegten Ort für ein gut bürgerliches Essen. Der Service ist auf zack und perfekt auch für ein Geschäftsessen geeignet. Die Preise sind ok.

Sehr schöne Lage in der malerischen Altstadt von Frankfurt-Höchst. Altehrwürdige Gaststätte, zwei kleine Gaststuben, regionale Küche, sehr nette Bedienung. Das Essen kam schnell auf den Tisch war o.k., kein kulinarischer Höhenflug!

An einem ungemütlich feuchten, nebligen und grauen Januartag machten wir einen Rundgang duch die hübsche Höchster Altstadt und kehrten zum Aufwärmen in der gemütlichen Alten Zollwache ein. Ein heißer Ebbelwoi weckte die Lebensgeister. Die Speisekarte machte einen sehr guten Eindruck, wir wollten allerdings nichts essen. Der Service war flink und freundlich. Die angenehme Atmosphäre lädt zum Wiederkommen ein!

Schön, direkt am Schlossplatz gelegenes Lokal mit großem Aussenbereich. Trotz Schlossfest und vollen Bänken, war der junge Mann vom Service sehr freundlich und fix. Endlich mal kein Schöfferhofer Bier im Ausschank, wie sonst meist in und um Frankfurt, sondern Hofbräu vom Fass - welche Wohltat! Nur Essen muss man hier wirklich nicht. Ich habe mir das Schnitzel Wiener Art mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt. Es kam dann komplette Industrieware (Formfleisch und Fertigbratkartoffeln) auf den Tisch. Die Panade der beiden Schnitzel war wie zementiert auf dem Fleisch und die Bratkartoffeln eher matschig. Ich hätte gerne mehr als die 13€ für eine vernünftige Küchenleistung bezahlt. Für das Essen würde ich nur einen Punkt vergeben. Der wirklich gute Service und die Getränke reißen es hier raus. Ich komme trotzdem nicht wieder hierher.

Wir sind zu viert nach Höchst gewandert und hatten Hunger. Ruckzuck waren wir platziert und die nette Kellnerin hat die Bestellung aufgenommen. Der Außenbereich war gut besucht, was der Freundlichkeit nicht geschadet hat. Das Essen war sehr gut.
