I can highly recommend the Alte Zollwache. We ate there before a concert and told the waitress that we didn't have much time before the concert. They hurried over our service, which we thought was great. The food is good, home-style. The only criticism we have is the size of the dishes. The side salad could be a bit larger, and the side dishes for the Gordon Bleu could be a bit larger. Otherwise, we were very satisfied. The female waitress deserves special mention; she was really prompt and efficient. We'd be happy to come back.

The ambient of the place is very calming, the hospitality is amazing and fast, we were welcomed in beautifully and would definetly come again if possible 😁.

The ambiance was okay, the service was attentive and friendly. However, the food wasn't worth the price. The liver was tough, and some of the fries were still raw. That shouldn't happen. I probably won't be going back.

The restaurant is located on Schlossplatz in Höchst. You sit surrounded by historic houses in a quiet location. The square is especially popular with cyclists, so it can get crowded. The service is excellent. The blonde woman is running around, doing things, doing things. Remarkable! The menu offers the usual fare you'd get at apple wine bars in Frankfurt. However, they also have a daily specials menu, which usually features something delicious. We had bruschetta with chanterelle mushrooms. A small, fine dish. The prices are mid-range.

The Schlossplatz is always worth a visit, especially in summer. For the past few weeks, the "Alte Zollwache" restaurant has also been offering particularly creative culinary delights. The weekly menu changes with new dishes; the apple tiramisu is particularly recommended for dessert. The attentive and friendly service staff completes the visit to create a truly special experience.

The food was good. However, the service was very unfriendly.

The food was okay. The service was so abysmally bad that I don't even know how to describe it. The waitress (Trixi) was extremely unfriendly and conceited. Part of the order was forgotten and couldn't be served until 30 minutes later. The portion was an absolute disgrace for the price quoted. If you sit outside you are forced to always get the large drink and some drinks are linked to overpriced dishes so you can't order them separately. The restaurant has a few places to sit outside and they are all full, which is a mystery to me how this place can be so busy. And to top it all off, Trixi has the nerve to expect a tip when you pay.

All I can say is that the food was great and the service quick and friendly. One star less for atmosphere simply because I don’t like people smoking near me (we were sitting outside) but this a general problem in Germany still.

Perfect location, next to the castle in Frankfurt Höchst, with a large outdoor area on the Schlossplatz. Our food, knuckle and ribs, was perfect, and the sauerkraut with bacon was absolutely amazing. The service was quick and friendly, and the prices were absolutely reasonable for Frankfurt, almost cheap in some cases.

We used this place for a rest on our Main-Nidda-Nidder cycling tour. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. A lovely spot.

I'm a little disappointed. I love eating here, but today we were turned away. The website clearly states: closing at 10 p.m., hot food until 9 p.m. We got there at 8:45 p.m. and were sent away. Then we went over to the Bären, also delicious, but different. We finished there by 9:30 p.m., so it would have easily been fine. It's a shame, they apparently don't want my money.

We visited as a couple for the first time this summer on May 1st. The reception was friendly, the service was very attentive - praise for that. Unfortunately, the prices and quality didn't quite convince us: two large apple spritzers (outside they only have large ones) cost a total of 9.60 euros - we found that to be too expensive. The food was mixed: the sliced ​​turkey was okay, but the fried potatoes seemed rather limited and a bit greasy. The side salad was bland and disappointing. In total we paid 48.60 euros and rounded it up to 50 euros. We were here more often last summer, but with this price and the quality of the cuisine, we won't be coming back.

Die Betreiber scheinen die sehr gute Lage als sichere Bank zu sehen und sparen an der Qualität. Pasta: keine frische Nudeln, sondern in der Pfanne heiß gemacht, entsprechend waren die zugegebenen getrockneten Tomaten auch eher Zäh. Der Rukola der auch noch drin sein sollte war nur in Spuren zu entdecken. Auf dem Nachbarteller ein Stück Kunststoff im Essen. Der Service war freunlich, sonst hätte ich mich für ein Mangelhaft entschieden.

Hello everyone, I didn't really want to write a review, but because of what happened today I feel compelled to. Today I was at the restaurant with a colleague at 5:30 p.m. Although there were two large tables available inside, the waitress told us there was nothing available. Well, we didn't have a reservation. That's ok too! So we decided to sit outside. The waitress not only seemed stressed, but was also unfriendly. Of course I understand that you have to wait for your drinks when it's busy, but 20 minutes just for the drinks is really too long. We were told the wait time for food would be 20-30 minutes. We agreed - but in the end we had to wait over two hours. Occasionally we asked if we could sit down inside after some guests had finished eating. We were told we would be seated as soon as a table became available. In the end we were seated at a table that had been vacant the entire time. When our food finally came, it was burnt. After waiting over two hours, my colleague ate it anyway. When the waiter later asked how the food was, my colleague answered honestly that the fried potatoes were burnt and the breading on the meat was too burnt. Instead of apologizing, the waiter reacted extremely rudely and said: “You should have said that beforehand! First eat the food and then complain – that sucks!” He also asked us if we knew how he felt with such a busy operation. My colleague replied that he had only answered the question about how the food was. And since we waited over two hours for it, he just ate it. Particularly worth mentioning: My colleague is 60 years old. As a young person, you should have a little respect for older people! A full restaurant should actually be a reason for the team to be happy. But instead, the stressed-out employees took out their frustration on the guests - and that is unacceptable.

We ate here as a group. We had reserved about 6 weeks in advance. Unfortunately we were seated at separate tables that were clearly a few meters apart. There were tables of other guests between us. The second table was so close to the counter that the waitress always bumped into the chair when she had to go there. No questions asked about another drink or dessert request. Food was tasty and sufficient, but no reason to come back. Things were much friendlier in the Swan the year before.

The Gasthaus Alte Zollwache is a quaint German restaurant on Höchster Schlossplatz. With typical Hessian and German dishes. When the weather is good, it's lovely to sit in the beer garden with a view of the castle. Friendly staff that came under a bit of pressure due to the busy beer garden. There is a wide selection of drinks and food, as well as a weekly menu. The price/performance ratio is right and corresponds to the location.

Fresh, very well prepared food. The spritzers were wonderfully refreshing. The prices are a bit too high. The dumpling with chanterelles in particular was overpriced, almost 19 euros for that is crazy.

Today the two of us went to eat at the old customs station 🥘 There was a handkäss. The bread was very tasty and the hand cheese was also good with lots of onions in the vinegar/oil 👌For the main course I had cheese spaetzle and my friend had a Viennese veal schnitzel. Both dishes were very good 👍 We always enjoy coming here 👌

It wasn't the first time we had stopped by the old customs station. I was very happy with my herring, but I can't say anything about the other dishes. It is a very nice place to rest. What I almost forgot, our beer was brought in stoneware mugs which was a huge advantage given the heat.

Ordered daily special. Loin with chanterelles and salad. Sauce was like water, same was the taste, chanterelles had a strange taste 🙄 Ordered salad with turkey breast. Salad was the same as mine, only with turkey breast, carelessly prepared. And as if it couldn't get any worse, 2 more cold espressos 🙄

Stopped by spontaneously and had a delicious meal with friendly service in a pleasant atmosphere outside. We'd love to come back.

Ein sonniger Sonntag im April mit gutem Essen. Der Aussenbereich war gut besucht und wir (2 Erw.mit Hund) haben kurz auf freie Plätze gewartet. Wir wählten gebratene Leber und Schnitzel „ Alte Zollwache“. Beides wurde nach kurzer Zeit serviert. Die Erwartungen wurden voll erfüllt. Die Leber war reichlich und die Bratkartoffeln ebenso. Auch das Schnitzel war sehr gut. Die Bedienung war freundlich und auf Zack. Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und würden beim nächsten Besuch in Höchst wieder einkehren.

Great day on the bike, for the first time at “Alte Zollwache”. It makes no sense to equip sloping cobblestones with cheap beer tent sets. 2 benches are simply folded up after being occupied. Backup was not active. Very shaky business there. We had 2 beers and 2 Händkäs with music. Beer, well it was a Munich sweet beer in the middle of Hesse, it really could be better. We actually wanted to drink cider with Handkäs. But there was only Old Hochstädter out of the bottle, they should drink it there themselves. The hand cheese, oh my god. It was nice to open it, the cheese was much too cold and dry, the menu said farmer's bread, but there was grain bread and that wasn't fresh even on a Saturday lunchtime. The music, I've never had anything worse. Tasted like broth from a rollmops jar. But maybe we were just there at the wrong time.

Drinks expensive (small still water costs €3.20 and a wheat beer costs €5.30) So I think over 16.00 DM is harsh. Food was ok for today's standards. You got used to it. If it tastes as good as here, accepted! ....... but the bottled finished drinks............ ouch.

In the summer you like to sit outside here, but it's also very comfortable inside. Even though there was only one person in service, there was always enough to eat and drink. The day menu alone offers a great selection. Only the desserts could be a little more.

Frankfurter Küsschen, Essen wR sehr gut und reichlich. Der Sitzplatz auf dem Hochstuhl ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Gibt aber auch normale Plätze dafür sollte man reservieren.
