Wouldn’t recommend, service wasn’t super quick which was fine I guess. Then we went up to pay and we had one Pepsi and one glass of white wine, got charged 16,80 for that and the excuse was the location which is bullshit because I’ve had cheaper drinks in bigger city’s like Paris and Amsterdam (also an excuse he used) so you’ll get overcharged for no reason which they probably shouldn’t be allowed to do.

The are overcharging the price for half glass of white wine is 10,50 and a one glass of Pepsi they are charging 5,50 it’s a ripoff.

The only thing worse than the substandard food is the exceptionally poor service. This place survives purely on its location, so if you want to rest your legs and have a glass of local white wine (restricted to 2-3), then this is the place for it. That’s a view of the stale cold and tasteless sauerkraut that I dared try here.

The ambience is also not nice, with much too loud party music, inappropriate, stained furniture and unloving, cheap decorations in the form of plastic and dried flowers.

First, I typically don’t write these. However … worst experience during my five years living in Germany. Waitress was rude, ignored our order as others who arrived after us, were served before us. The worst - we ordered a cheese dish which included cheese, bread, and butter (a cold dish). It took 30 minutes to get two slices of bread and one pat of butter and an additional 15 minutes for the cold cheese to arrive at the table. I asked for silverware, which i was once again ignored and walked to the counter to get ours. Worth noting, 3/4 of the menu was not available (flammkuchen for example). I usually tip 20%, standard tip for good service in the United States, but not today. Save yourself the drama (and embarrassment with your special someone as you fight for service) and go someplace else.

Drinks were great! Ordered fries twice, but unfortunately, the order went missing. After almost an hour, we asked for the fries... The presumed boss then called an employee to blame him in front of everyone and verbally abused him. Humiliating someone like that is absolutely unacceptable!! Café Hauptwache is located in a very central location and is a real eye-catcher in Frankfurt. A very attentive lady served us and gave us excellent recommendations. So was hab ich noch nie erlebt, weiß gar nicht, ob ich lachen soll, weil es so absurd ist. Ich hatte Waffeln mit Nutella bestellt. Man bekommt ein kleines Gläschen mit ein wenig Nuttela (also nicht direkt auf den Waffeln). Ich fragte, ob ich noch etwas Nutella für die zweite Waffel haben könne. Die Bedienung sagte zu mir - und das ist jetzt kein Scherz - "nein, das ist nicht möglich". Ich was so perplex und fragte nochmal nach, da ich dachte ich muss mich verhört haben. Sie meinte dann, man kann Nutella nur mit Waffel im System eingeben und nicht nur so, daher kann ich keine Nutella haben. Ich musste die zweite Waffel dann "trocken" essen.

My colleague and I came in for a nice dinner but the waitress was terribly rude to us. We were taken aback at how annoyed she was the whole time we were ordering food. We then had to wait for 20 minutes even after having asked for the bill multiple times while our waitress was visibly prioritizing other customers. It was built in 1930, and it served the national guard, it was a detention center and a prison, and in fact a notorious criminal of the time, Johannes Buckler, also known as the "Rhine Bandit", was a "guest" in this particular building... it was bombed in 1944 and rebuilt in its original form in 1954... Since 1905 it has been operating as a cafe... Its history is undeniably much more interesting than its cuisine and its drinks... The gentleman who served us was kind as well as the head of the toilets, which were very clean. It's worth sitting down for a coffee or a beer, the aura of what happened 300 years ago or so is still here...

That was the first and last visit to this cafe. We sat at a table inside that smelled like it had been wiped with an old rag, extremely unpleasant. My husband ordered a regular coffee and I ordered a latte. My milk coffee came with a very dirty saucer (see picture), so I quickly lost interest in the coffee. I didn't like it either, it was a standard vending machine coffee that was far too strong. Overall, the café left me with a very outdated impression, so I can't recommend it!

Café Hauptwache is a great location in the heart of Frankfurt. Especially in the cold season, it offers people who like to be out in the fresh air the opportunity to sit outside under the arcades and not freeze thanks to the many heaters. The interior is also comfortable and offers a variety of seating options. The food is diverse, varied and tastes delicious. With very good value for money. The same applies to the large selection of drinks. Since the café is usually busy, I have to pay a special compliment to the service. There is running, serving and collecting. Fast and super friendly. As a regular guest, Ayse is particularly close to my heart. She is super fast, competent and always friendly. If I were to open a café or a restaurant, she would immediately have a job offer from me on the table. Keep it up!!! And if you haven't been there yet ——> Go!! And ask about Ayse :-)

Here in a venerable old house, which was used by trams from all sides around 70 years ago, which I was also able to experience. Today, after the construction of the subway, it still stands dominantly in the middle of the Hauptwache and delights passers-by. Unfortunately, the café has lost the shine of a café, they make every effort but even the coffee and cake ordered cannot make up for it. But you are still happy to see a sign of the past present.

🚨🚨 ALERT 🚨🚨 Don't be fooled by the pretty building. I give one star for the location. The food is really not crazy and extremely expensive. I highly recommend going to the typical “ApfelWein” taverns. Go your way!
