Everything on Instagram is so beautiful and attractive! Actually... I'm not at all satisfied and can't recommend this place for food! At most, I'll have coffee or Aperol, and even then, the saucer, cup, or glass won't necessarily be clean! 😒👎🏻

We recommend checking the details at checkout. I ordered a soup for 7.5€ and a sausage for 2€. When paying the bill, I was told, "You ate soup, sausage, and bread. 12€." In the basement restroom, there was a staff member and a plate for tipping.

The location is good and the food is not bad. But they lied about the price. Comparing it to the menu, it cost 6 euros more. When I first calculated, the price seemed odd even at a glance, so I tried to look at it in detail and deleted one item saying it was wrong. I've never experienced something like that before and I don't even know whether I should laugh because it's so absurd. I ordered waffles with Nutella. You get a small jar with a little Nutella (not directly on the waffles). I asked if I could have some more Nutella for the second waffle. The waitress said to me - and I'm not kidding - "no, that's not possible". I was so perplexed and asked again because I thought I must have misheard. She then said you can only enter Nutella with waffle in the system and not just like that, so I can't have Nutella. I then had to eat the second waffle “dry”.

So was hab ich noch nie erlebt, weiß gar nicht, ob ich lachen soll, weil es so absurd ist. Ich hatte Waffeln mit Nutella bestellt. Man bekommt ein kleines Gläschen mit ein wenig Nuttela (also nicht direkt auf den Waffeln). Ich fragte, ob ich noch etwas Nutella für die zweite Waffel haben könne. Die Bedienung sagte zu mir - und das ist jetzt kein Scherz - "nein, das ist nicht möglich". Ich was so perplex und fragte nochmal nach, da ich dachte ich muss mich verhört haben. Sie meinte dann, man kann Nutella nur mit Waffel im System eingeben und nicht nur so, daher kann ich keine Nutella haben. Ich musste die zweite Waffel dann "trocken" essen.

My colleague and I came in for a nice dinner but the waitress was terribly rude to us. We were taken aback at how annoyed she was the whole time we were ordering food. She was very impatient when we did not understand the part of the dessert ordering system that was written in German (we are not from Germany nor do we know any German). We then had to wait for 20 minutes even after having asked for the bill multiple times while our waitress was visibly prioritizing other customers. We would have understood if she was just busy but we saw her multiple times just chatting and laughing. When the bill finally arrived, a 12% tip had been forcefully included in the bill. As I understand it, tipping culture in Germany is a very common practice but it was not mandatory. However, this waitress insisted that it was not an option to not tip. We kept asking her if we could remove the tip but she said we were not allowed to. She insisted that it was part of the restaurant’s rule. We had no choice but to tip 12% for horrible service. Since it was a business dinner, we asked for a receipt so that we could invoice it to our company but this waitress also found a way to mess that up and missed half of our order. This has truly been a disappointing experience by any standard.

I ate here many years ago, but I haven't been here for many years. I still like their handmade sausages. I find that most people here order handmade pizza and add a glass of beer or liquor.

In the center of the old city, among the tall skyscrapers, a baroque ornament will surely catch your eye... It was built in 1930, and it served the national guard, it was a detention center and a prison, and in fact a notorious criminal of the time, Johannes Buckler, also known as the "Rhine Bandit", was a "guest" in this particular building... it was bombed in 1944 and rebuilt in its original form in 1954... Since 1905 it has been operating as a cafe... Its history is undeniably much more interesting than its cuisine and its drinks... The gentleman who served us was kind as well as the head of the toilets, which were very clean. It's worth sitting down for a coffee or a beer, the aura of what happened 300 years ago or so is still here...

That was the first and last visit to this cafe. We sat at a table inside that smelled like it had been wiped with an old rag, extremely unpleasant. My husband ordered a regular coffee and I ordered a latte. My milk coffee came with a very dirty saucer (see picture), so I quickly lost interest in the coffee. I didn't like it either, it was a standard vending machine coffee that was far too strong. Overall, the café left me with a very outdated impression, so I can't recommend it!

Here in a venerable old house, which was used by trams from all sides around 70 years ago, which I was also able to experience. Today, after the construction of the subway, it still stands dominantly in the middle of the Hauptwache and delights passers-by. Unfortunately, the café has lost the shine of a café, they make every effort but even the coffee and cake ordered cannot make up for it. But you are still happy to see a sign of the past present.

Café Hauptwache is a great location in the heart of Frankfurt. Especially in the cold season, it offers people who like to be out in the fresh air the opportunity to sit outside under the arcades and not freeze thanks to the many heaters. The interior is also comfortable and offers a variety of seating options. The food is diverse, varied and tastes delicious. With very good value for money. The same applies to the large selection of drinks. Since the café is usually busy, I have to pay a special compliment to the service. There is running, serving and collecting. Fast and super friendly. As a regular guest, Ayse is particularly close to my heart. She is super fast, competent and always friendly. If I were to open a café or a restaurant, she would immediately have a job offer from me on the table. Keep it up!!! And if you haven't been there yet ——> Go!! And ask about Ayse :-)

Terrible experience! The staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. We were seated at the bar and after waiting for 15 minutes to get their attention, we were told we couldn’t order French fries with our drinks at the bar. Fine, so we asked to move to a table instead. After another 10 minutes, they came back and told us there were no tables available and we should just leave! The lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking. We were treated as if we were inconveniencing them by being there. Avoid this place at all costs!

Came here for a light lunch while visiting the Christmas Markets. The building is very interesting from the exterior but once inside, it looses all of its historical charm. Loud party music was planning which was odd for the setting. We were given a table right away, but then service was slow and it was difficult to get our waiters attention. Thus said, the food was really good!! I would love to eat these dishes again, but in a different location.

Been here quite a few times over the years, service takes a long time, especially in the summer, staff isn‘t particularly friendly, and food has declined in quality. No more tea or hot chocolate served after 10pm. It is a nice spot to sit and people watch outside though.

It was my first time in the café at Hauptwache. A beautiful atmosphere. The waitresses were (forced) friendly and unfortunately a bit overwhelmed with just a few people. I had the Frankfurt breakfast. For 16.99 euros you would expect more than 1 roll, for two extra rolls I was charged an additional 5 euros, which I found quite steep. As for the sausage selection, I would have liked more turkey and it wasn't of any special quality, the orange juice was ok, the scrambled eggs were also ok, but unfortunately not enough. The fruit salad was canned and an absolute disaster. The store was very clean including toilets. Overall it was ok, but definitely not a risk of a repeat. Too bad

The food and location experience was amazing but coffee is horrible, and also a other thing very annoying happened while there for a duration of almost 2 hours, the Fire alarm rang for 3 times and that was annoying really... You need to watch out every little plate you order as the price is not what you think it is as every single ingredients you need to add has an extra price

Service sehr unkoordiniert. (War 3x bei uns am Tisch (4 Personen) um die Bestellung aufzunehmen. (Lag nicht an uns, da wir wussten was wir wollten. Der Espresso kam kalt an, in der Teekanne (wir hatten Schwarzen Tee bestellt war im Filter noch ein alter Früchtetee Beutel (war wahrscheinlich schon mitgespült worden, da er keine Farbe mehr abgab). Es dauerte ewig bis wir dann eine neue Kanne mit Teewasser bekamen….. Selbst beim Abräumen wo man fragte, ob der Espresso, der sich noch in der Tasse befand mitnehmen könne und wir nochmals drauf hingewiesen haben, daß er kalt angekommen war, kam keine Entschuldigung.

Never again! I ordered a Caesar Salad which cost €13.50 but only lettuce! To put in the pieces of chicken and pieces of avocado another 10 euros! So a Caser came at 11.50pm!!! And the same for waffles, 8.50 just the dough, with Nutella and cream another €3! Absurd prices that are just trying to rip you off! Not to mention the fire alarm that went off 3 times in an hour with an absurd mess... I don't recommend it to anyone!

Comida schnitzel estaba bien. Las papas estaban frías. La ensalada estuvo buena. Servicio bien. El problema se sobrecargó en la factura. Acordamos, ¿no esperar que costara más? También quería que le pagaran en efectivo y pidió propina. ¡Fue una operación furtiva para estafar más dinero! ¡Es una trampa turística, no vayas aquí!

Unfriendly service, no cocktails but heaters

Premetto che non ho mangiato male ma nemmeno bene, si mangia meglio in altri locali nelle vicinanze. La mia valutazione negativa nasce però dalla mancanza di serietà dimostratami, quando ho cenato da loro, non mi hanno fatto la ricevuta per problemi tecnici ( così hanno detto) assicurandomi però che l'indomani mi sarebbe arrivata via mail. Così mi hanno detto anche nei due giorni successivi ed io sto ancora aspettando. Per me cancellato dalla lista dei locali dove andare.
