Tasty Nuremberg sausages and a nice view of the historical gothic city hall

Five Swabians spontaneously wanted five seats, even though the restaurant was already busy. Something was moved around and we were allowed to take a seat. The waitresses were friendly, the food was very good, the restaurant was very cozy and of course the location was perfect. Definitely recommended, we would be happy to come back on our next visit to Aachen.

Food very good. The horseradish sauce with the Tafelspitz was just right. Not too spicy and not too weak.

Typical German dinner, the girls were really kind, they helped us with the menu which unfortunately was only in German, really good and well presented food, worth trying

Typical and historic place. Excellent beer, poor food (goulash with potatoes and beetroot). Tough meat, very small portion and above all it didn't taste like goulash. Very helpful and welcoming staff.

Terrible! The Unicorn is such a nice place, but it has gone down a lot. If you look closer, it no longer looks clean and well-kept like we used to. It now seems quite neglected. We were there yesterday and ordered Kölsch. The beer was warm, and when we told the waiter behind the counter, he said that all the beer kegs were warm at the moment. What kind of statement is that? In the past you were lucky if you got a seat at the counter, the last few times we were there alone, why? We won't be going there any more for the time being, we don't want to spend any money on warm beer. If this continues, this beautiful, traditional pub will also be driven into the wall; they have already successfully achieved it with the Golden Swan. It's a shame to see that.

The four of us only had a drink here, so we can't judge much. The staff was friendly, but the chairs are absolutely worth replacing. Seldom have I sat so badly and in a prominent place.

We went to the Golden Unicorn for dinner with the extended family on 2 consecutive evenings. (approx. 40 people) It was two wonderful evenings. The staff was competent, very friendly and very patient, because it was certainly not easy to satisfy 40 people with small children at the same time. Even when the children were in the path of the staff, no bad word was said. We spent a lovely evening here. Nice, rustic atmosphere, great location, very nice service and delicious food. We took the sauerbraten twice because we really wanted to try the printen sauce. I can recommend this to everyone! Very tasty, even during the non-Christmas season :)

Very nice food and great service

Good reviews, high expectations and then disappointing. The man was gruff, the woman was very friendly. Fast service but food was substandard, as Belgians we are used to better. Not bad and not good either, just average to satisfy your hunger. Nice interior, but toilet stinks. Good to have a drink on the terrace, but not to eat.

Great staff, each one contributes in their own way. To make the evening as comfortable as possible. Very nice interaction in the team. The food could be a little smarter. And the menu could possibly offer more selection. But on the whole it's a beautiful shop. With beautiful flowers at the table and historical decorations. Thank you very much....

The sauerbraten was recommended to me during the city tour. The tip was worth its weight in gold. The meat is tender as butter and the sauce is a dream!!! Rarely eaten so well.

I ordered a Leberkäse with fried egg and fried potatoes. Unfortunately it was not possible to get vegetables instead of fried potatoes. But it was possible to pay the full price and not get any potatoes. I won't go here anymore. Food and service was otherwise very good.

Nothing vegan and the workers did not seem to know what vegetarian means. They suggested a bean soup that had mettwurst in it, fish dishes, and pesto spaghetti with Parmesan (which usually has animal rennet in it). There was also a fly in my beer, and they didn't offer me a new one. Nice old furnishings.

Nice and cozy and very friendly service, soup was delicious, unfortunately rump steak was already "off" around 1:30 p.m. and boiled beef was a bit too "bland" for me. But I'd love to come back. Thank you and best regards

Historic Gasthaus right in the centre of Aachen. Walking inside it feels like you are stepping into history. Good traditional and regional dishes at reasonable prices.

When we were there, the restaurant wasn't very busy. The atmosphere is rustic, brewery style, I like it. The table that was kept free for us was a bit narrow and didn't have much legroom. The service was very courteous, friendly and usually quick. The deciding factor for “only” three stars is the quality of the food. We had schnitzel and fish. The meat tasted kind of strange, so not bad, but not like what you're used to. Kind of bland, like nothing. We were disappointed then.

Super nice staff and cozy atmosphere, but we found the portion size much too small. It's a shame, otherwise there's a good selection on the menu.

Came to this quaint restaurant by chance, the service was very nice and the food was really good. Price performance is also absolutely okay. More than satisfied.

Unfortunately the level has dropped. The service was a bit pushy, the food used to be much better. You couldn't wash your hands in the men's toilet, but you could wash your hands in the women's toilet. There was no toilet paper there, as our women said. Hopefully it will be like before.

The place is located in the Aachen center. They offer typical German dishes. Both the food and the service are really good. You can feel the German atmosphere. Last but not least, the beer is amazing

This is a truly traditional informal German restaurant- rather like an old style pub, lots of wooden features and old photos of the town. Great friendly service and an excellent utterly German menu; very reasonably priced . Book by phone if you can as they don’t accept wmail bookings for just two people . Really busy by 18.30! Not much Englisg spoken and menu only in German but all the more authentic because of that !

Typische Duitse gutbürgerliche Küche met allerlei zaken op de kaart waar men in Duitsland (en Nederland) van houdt. Goede verhouding tussen prijs en kwaliteit.

The restaurant is very rustic but attractive. The staff was nice and accommodating. The Sauerbraten with Printen sauce took some getting used to, but ultimately quite good.

We really liked everything. It was delicious, the portions were filling. Delivery is fast. Very atmospheric. And of course, the location opposite the town hall is very pleasing.

Great food, service and atmosphere

Laute Abba Musik, herzliche Balkangastfreudschaft und deftige Fertigspeisen wären ein tolles Konzept, wenn der Gast nicht wegen des aachener, geschichtsträchtigen Flairs und der städtischen Geschichte kommen würde. Der aachener Sauerbraten besteht aus Fertigprodukten. Zu viele Lufterfrischer im Restaurant und auf der Toilette. Die Muster der Fliesen in den Ecken der Toiletten sind nicht mehr zu erkennen, hier wurde schon seit Jahren nicht gewischt. Die Homepage verspricht ein anspruchsvolles Ambiente, vor Ort findet man aber eher ein unteres Kneipenniveau vor mit leicht ungepflegter Einrichtung.

Sehr leckeres Essen in einem alten aber historisch, gemütlichen Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem Personal.

The worst restaurant in German!

Wife and I had lunch there today. Simple but pretty good food, excellent beer. Seems popular with the locals. Limited English (better than my German, though), but we managed to understand each other okay. Highly recommended.

Oude traditionele Duitse restaurant, eten prima niet heel bijzonder service was prima.

Tried to reserve for dinner in December 2023 and called in September 2023, knowing it was Christmas rush. Was told that because of Christmas Market, no reservations were being taken - first come, first served only. Arrived at restaurant at 4:20pm to avoid any rush, only to be told that the kitchen opened at 6pm and that all tables were reserved… and even that wasn’t overly friendly. When I said that I had called in September and was told the above, they shrugged. So which is it? Great impression of Aachen (not), but I don’t think they even care.

Visited Aachen from Maastricht, Netherlands, we were lucky to get a table (it was a Sunday during Christmas market). Service was very nice, food was sufficiently good for the price, but nothing too extraordinary (I had just a basic Schnitzel). Atmosphere was great, very traditional wooden interior and veeery cozy 😍. Overall, I think it’s a nice place to eat in Aachen for tourists , if you’re looking for something more traditional.

Na een bezoek aan de kerstmarkt hier naar binnen gegaan in een sfeervol ouderwets Duits restaurant. Zeer vriendelijke en cvlotte bediening! Lekker gegeten en gedronken voor een prima prijs!

Wirklich nette und professionelle Bedienung. Das Essen war ok aber eher durchschnittlich.

Urgemütlich, super leckeres Essen und ein zuvorkommendes, freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Das Restaurant muss man weiterempfehlen und beim nächsten Besuch in Oche werden wird wieder dort Essen.

Laut, äußerst unfreundliche Abfuhr, schlechtes Essen. Dieser Laden ist völlig überbewertet als lokale Größe. Wir wurden so dermaßen arrogant und unfreundlich abgewiesen. Das habe ich in 45 Jahren weder in NRW noch sonst irgendwo auf der Welt erlebt. Ich hoffe, dass sie dazu lernen und es nicht auf die harte Tour lernen müssen (keine Gäste mehr). I recommend to all tourists of Aachen: rather choose Karls Wirtshaus: better service, friendly and respectful waiters and great meals. But this is an extremely loud and ugly Location

Wir wurden direkt unfreundlich empfangen. Ein Tisch wurde frei und wir dachten ,dann können wir Platz nehmen. Zumal die Kellner vorher nicht zu uns schauten. Da kam eine sehr unfreundliche Servicemitarbeiterin und raunzte uns an, das hätten wir uns so gedacht. Ich wollte kein Verbrechen begehen. Es kommen auch wieder Zeiten, wo man auf Gäste angewiesen ist. So gewinnt man keine Gäste. Ein paar Meter weiter sind wir freundlich und höflich behandelt wurden, obwohl es hier auch voll war und man auf einen Tisch warten musste.

L'endroit est très bien situé, on a vraiment envie d'y entrer. Toutefois, à peine entrés, nous y avons été tellement mal accueillis (je demandais une table pour deux dans un allemand approximatif et j'ai reçu le "nein" le plus brutal de ma vie). Cela nous a juste donné envie de ressortir et c'est ce que nous avons fait!

Euh n y allez pas pour la nourriture industrielle :soupe en boîte. Viande immangeable sauce figée dans l assiette, pdt dataient cuites précuites hyper grasses . À fuir pour la nourriture. Ambiance très bien..... Donc pour un verre oui.D ailleurs je vous laisse j ai déjà des crampes D estomac et je ne suis pas la seule

Restaurante típico de cocina alemana en un edificio histórico muy bien decorado y con un personal súper atento y muy amable. La comida muy sabrosa con unas raciones correctas. Recomendable el visitarlo.

Das Essen ist einfach. Das heißt noch nichts aber leider hat der Koch kein großes Talent. Grünkohl extrem weichgekocht und ohne Würze. Dazu sind die Portionen nicht gerade groß. Die versprochenen Blutwurst war überhaupt nicht dabei -nur mittelgroßes Kasseler und eine halbe Wurst! Schnitzel ebenfalls 0815 -da braucht man kein gelernter Koch für sein - sehr schade denn sonst stimmt alles!

Un restaurante típico que me ha encantado por su decoración. La comida deliciosa, yo que no soy mucho de chucrut, me lo comí todo, estaba buenísimo. La atención fue muy buena, el ambiente estupendo y el precio correcto. La situación no puede ser mejor, está en el corazón de la ciudad, frente del ayuntamiento.

Schönes altes Lokal von Aachen. Manches leckeres Essen hier gehabt. Lohnt sich ;--)

Vraiment très bon ! Type allemand et personnel très sympa

Bedienung betrinkt sich mit diversen alkoholischen Getränken und vergisst darüber die Bestellung der Gäste. Ein alkoholfreies Radler resultiert unangekündigt in einem alkoholfreien Bier + einer Sprite, ergo 2 zu zahlenden Getränken. Ein normales Kölsch kostet 4,60€ was völlig überzogen ist. Ich würde es zumindest nur für ein paar Getränke nicht weiterempfehlen.

Went to Germany for work. Co workers recommended a great place in the heart of Aachen. If you speak English only, I recommend you go with someone who reads and speaks German. Great food. Great beer. Friendly staff.

Restaurant typiqu allemand à l'ancienne. Très bon plat de choucroute garnie. Service rapide et aimable.

Ci hanno fatto sedere.gli abbiamo spiegato che parlavamo inglese,il ragazzo ha detto nessun problema ma continuava a parlare tedesco 😡qualunque cosa chiedevano dal menù diceva che non era disponibile .

Das Essen war gut, aber wir mussten recht lange warten.

Wir fahren seid 5 Jahren 1 mal im Jahr nach Aachen um eine Veranstaltung zu besuchen. Der erste Abend ist ein Muss ins Einhorn essen zu gehen, da besteht meine Tochter immer drauf . Das Essen ist da wirklich lecker, große Portionen,Personal sehr nett , wir fühlen uns da immer wohl und freuen uns schon auf August 2024
