Well, the dish was undoubtedly good, but there were side dishes written on it and different ones arrived, perhaps he thought that since I don't speak German I didn't understand what I had ordered, I ordered mustard salad with potato rosti, and instead of potato rosti they arrived with boiled potatoes with green beans, the other dish was veal roulade with Swiss potatoes and they arrived with potato dumplings, then I paid more for the water than the starter, a 0.75 cl bottle of water I paid €8.90, a coffee €4.50, a bit absurd, isn't it? However, the dishes, the service and the atmosphere were good but you can't pay more for a water than for 2 slices of Backerei cake as soon as you leave!

On the recommendation of a specialist doctor from Aachen, we ended up here. It was a Saturday, completely full, and we had no reservations. After a friendly inquiry and a glance from a server, we were lucky and managed to get a table for almost an hour. I ordered Pasta Rose and my companion had lamb. Well, what can I say? The portions were fantastic, the taste truly captivating, and the staff was lovely in a wonderful old building with a rustic atmosphere. If we ever stay overnight in Aachen again, we'll definitely make a reservation to enjoy it for longer.

We went to the "Rose am Dom" restaurant for my mother's 75th birthday! Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing! The menu had a certain flair, which is definitely not the case with the food served! The chestnut soup with chorizo ​​oil we ordered was so bland that even salt and pepper couldn't save it, and it was sent back in its entirety (it was then removed from the bill after the chef apparently tasted it and agreed with me, according to a server). The baked Brie tasted like something from a discount supermarket, the Monschau mustard sauce barely tasted like mustard at all, and although mustard seeds were visible, the sauce had a strangely sour taste. The pork medallions were, I think, cooked sous vide and therefore had no browning whatsoever (this wasn't mentioned on the menu, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered them). The fried potatoes tasted like a convenience food, and the other dishes were also below average! The price-performance ratio is completely unacceptable; the prices are outrageously high! ... Furthermore, some of the dishes weren't presented properly; they looked carelessly slapped onto the plate, including sauce splatters around the edges. That's acceptable for a cafeteria, but not for a restaurant at this price point. A large piece had chipped off the rim of my soup bowl! Better paper napkins would have been nice instead of the very basic ones, but perhaps that's part of the "rustic charm"... The ambiance is quaint due to the very old building! To pay, I went to the front, hoping to speak to the owner, who unfortunately wasn't there. So I spoke to the head server, who took the criticism well, as I told her we had been so looking forward to this visit and were extremely disappointed! The kitchen had prepared a small treat for the birthday person (a very tasty dessert), and because of the other circumstances, the coffee at the end was on the house! Conclusion: We will NOT be coming back!!!! The location of the house is truly beautiful, it deserves more stars, the service staff are very nice, but I am so disappointed as it was supposed to be a special evening for my mother and I had looked at the reviews and the menu beforehand and it turned out to be such a disappointment!

Unwelcoming restaurant, empty at 5 pm. Having arrived without a reservation, I was told it was fine, but I had to leave before 6 pm... So I left immediately. I went back at 6 pm and the restaurant was still half empty. In short, avoid this place; there are many nicer restaurants.

Yesterday we had a very delicious meal of boiled beef with horseradish sauce and a salad with a great dressing.

Delicious food! We were a group of 15 and everyone loved it. I highly recommend the Tafelspitz (boiled beef). The food is of excellent quality. Update: Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined somewhat. The schnitzel is deep-fried and the fried potatoes are pre-made, not freshly prepared. Furthermore, the side dishes were very meager—just a handful. A shame, considering the prices.

When we got there, we were told we had the table until 18:30 because of another reservation (it was 17:15 at the time), only to be told later that we actually had just one hour. When we finished our food, luckily we had only ordered a main course, because the table behind us asked for dessert but the waiter told them no. The staff then asked us straight away whether we would pay by card or cash. After that, a group of new people came in and asked for a table, and the waiter told them that our table would be free shortly. It seems like their strategy is to tell you they’re fully booked and that you only have time for a main course, just so you finish early and other people (without reservations) can experience the same horrible hospitality.

The food was absolutely delicious – so delicious, in fact, that for a moment I thought the chef had made a deal with my stomach. The wait, on the other hand… well, let's just say it took 40 minutes. I had plenty of time in the meantime to: – reflect on my life, – almost finish my tax return, – and wonder if the kitchen staff had perhaps planted the vegetables first. When the food finally arrived: Amazing! So good, in fact, that I almost forgot how hungry I'd been. Almost. So, if you enjoy delicious food and want to practice a little patience at the same time – this is the perfect place!

The waitresses weren't very gracious at first, but perhaps that was a cultural difference that gave me that impression. Otherwise, we ate well; the sauces were excellent.

If you find yourself in the city, and more specifically in the city center, this is the place where you will definitely eat authentic schnitzel. Huge portion and at a very good price.

The Restaurant Rose am Dom is one of Aachen's oldest restaurants. This cozy restaurant serves rustic, typically German cuisine in a rustic atmosphere with a view of the cathedral. We enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere and the excellent food and drinks. I highly recommend it!

I visited with 3. All of them had small stomach, so I ate 2 full and 2 half dishes. Every single one is enough to fill one, so they ain't small. Proves how great the cook is, but it appears they switch them depending on the day.

We waited an hour for our food. It finally arrived without apology when we asked. The food itself was very greasy and overpriced. I wouldn't recommend eating there to anyone; there are certainly better restaurants in Aachen.

The food was good, but we had an incident. We had to pay the same price for a glass of water as a beer. We ate at this restaurant twice and realized that the second drink never appeared on the receipt. They added it manually. Maybe they wanted to secure a tip. Be careful!

The three of us sat at an outdoor table where there was no reservation sign. The waiter came and asked if we had a reservation, which I said no. We were then asked to vacate the table for five. We could sit there when a single woman was ready. I explained that I had been driving for 10 hours (and still had 270 km to go) and wasn't going to wait for someone to vacate a table. We weren't served afterward. I can't comment on how the restrooms would have been. However, the restrooms, both men's and women's, are not a reason to visit this restaurant.

Nice place in itself but unfortunately we were not served even though half the seats were still free. The reason given was that we were not only allowed to have a drink but also had to eat something, but none of the guests had a plate on the table.

Mediocre food and service in a lovely setting

The service was very rude. After ordering, they said, "The table is reserved." They simply left cards on the table without greeting me. Drinks were simply placed on the table without a sound. When paying, I had to go to the cashier and wait while the waiter cleaned the table. All the other customers paid at the table. I don't understand why it was different for me. The food is okay. If you look at old reviews, you notice they repeatedly behave so rudely with customers. There are enough customers, so they won't change. I've also noticed that they cold-bloodedly send customers away if they don't like something. It's usually about the table. I'm surprised that they do this in a restaurant industry and at such a tourist spot. I've even seen it twice; people feel insulted.

Extremely understaffed. Waited 40 minutes for a server to come to the table. Food also 60 minutes after that. Don't order mayo or ketchup because it's not included and they charge €2 a tiny cup. So we paid 4 euros for a tiny bit of sauce, felt very scammy. Quality of the food itself was great thankfully. Waiter didn't give us change at the end and continued on working, involuntary tip. Wouldn't come here again.

The service was friendly and quick, and the starter was good. However, the risotte was lacking salt and pepper, as was the meat. The mushrooms were also too coarsely chopped for my liking.

Great restaurant with a good selection. Unfortunately, I can only give the service 3 stars (5 for service 1, 0 for service 2) because the waiter was very rude. He took an order incorrectly and then got upset and tried to blame the waiter. It was hot, of course, and all the tables were occupied. Nevertheless, even in such a stressful situation, you shouldn't lose your temper.

We ate very well. Delicious pasta and two very good fish dishes. The service was a little slow. They have two terraces, so we decided to go to the dining room because it was very cool.

We ate in yesterday around 4:30 PM. The service was, in a word, terrible from start to finish. We sat opposite the bar, and they could clearly see we were ready to take our order. However, they repeatedly walked past us disinterestedly. The food was mediocre for the price. We finished our main course and waited for the table to be cleared. Unfortunately, this was another missed opportunity... waiting and waiting... after coffee, we walked to the cash register so we could leave quickly. Too bad, the location is great, the service is poor, and the food is mediocre.

Delicious food in the old city centre

Saturdays between 4 and 7 p.m. The food was OK. Service and kitchen were much too slow. We had to order our food twice because the order was "lost" when we asked for it. The total wait time was about 1.5 hours, even though it wasn't that busy. Kölsch served in Pilsner glasses. Payment by card only inside. Conclusion: You can do it once, but it could be much better.

Beautiful terrace near the cathedral. I didn't eat, just had a drink, because they serve Leffe Bruin on tap. But my good mood was wiped out when I tried to pay by card. Card payments only accepted for amounts over 15 euros. These days, that's a no-go. The owners want to save on fees and continue to line their pockets, even though the place has been flooded with tourists. No one can tell me that the owners aren't making enough money.

Top notch! Great food, friendly service, dog-friendly. Sitting upstairs is a bit warm, but that's okay. Fresh beer, great schnitzel, large portions, great appetizers and desserts. Real German food with quality!

A beautifully located restaurant in Aachen's old town. A terrace with a courtyard feel. True to its name. We received attentive service. The dishes we ordered were excellent. Unfortunately, we had to skip dessert because the train was running. A real shame. We'll definitely make up for it. Thank you very much.

We had dinner here this evening and were very satisfied overall. We received a friendly welcome and luckily got a table outside even without a reservation. We were on the side near the cathedral, and the seating there is really nice. The service was attentive and very friendly throughout the evening. The drinks arrived promptly, and our request for a colder beer was responded to promptly and professionally. The food was excellent. From the onion soup to the ravioli to the boiled beef, everything tasted really good. It was presented on beautiful plates, and the knives were actually sharp. We can only praise everything. Thank you for a great meal and a pleasant evening. We'll be back.

Well-balanced dish between meat and side dish. The meat was excellent, cooked perfectly medium/rare. Friendly staff and precise service, especially for drinks. The wait for the dishes was a bit long, but I was in good company, so it didn't matter. Positive experience, I will definitely be back.

A portion of fries for 9 euros. This was the result of a "special order." Fries aren't on the menu, but they made them for my daughter anyway. That was nice, but the price was not worth it: 9 euros!

Tasty surprise in the heart of Aachen During a day in Aachen we ended up here – and it turned out to be a bull’s eye. Familiar dishes, but surprisingly executed. The onion soup with fennel was deliciously full of flavour, the beef carpaccio got a fresh twist with artichoke, figs and mango dressing, and the salad with serrano ham, pesto and mozzarella was delicious – the tomatoes in particular stood out because of their flavour. The local Weissburgunder was a fine, fresh white wine that went well with the summer weather. What was also noticeable: a quietly situated terrace at the back and a livelier terrace at the front, so you can choose what you like. It is also pleasant to sit inside, with a warm atmosphere. And not unimportant: clean, spacious toilets – always a plus. The service was friendly and relaxed. A place where attention is clearly paid to both the food and the experience. Recommended if you are in the centre of Aachen and fancy good food in a pleasant environment.

The food was really good, you can notice the quality ; unfortunately for this kind of restaurant I expected a better service . The view and place is really comfortable and nice with the Dom.

Excellent service and we loved the traditional style, it has that breath of the past. Fresh flowers at the table too. Most of the places where we've been in Germany and Netherlands had plastic. So, nice effort. The food was really delicious. I had an excellent roast beef, and others the Viener Schnitzels that they really liked. Certainly a recommendation.

Our company outing went to Aachen. The table was reserved in the Rose at the Cathedral. An excellent decision. We received a very friendly welcome and the food was simply delicious and plentiful. Very happy again.

Service was friendly, but everything took an extremely long time, even though not all the tables outside were occupied and everything inside was empty. I had to go in to pay because no one came to the table (even if they tried to make themselves noticed). A glass of water was more expensive than a coffee (!). When paying, the boss was a bit overwhelmed with calculating the change. It's better to go next door to drink coffee.

Unfortunately, the sauerbraten was far too dry and the dumplings were only lukewarm. The liver dumpling soup for €9.90 is far too expensive for just a dumpling with a bit of broth. The soap in the toilet was already empty upon arrival and was not refilled during the visit. Overall, the visit there was rather disappointing.

Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy my duck breast with potato gratin and red cabbage. The duck and the gratin were too dry, the red cabbage looked like it came from a can. For the price, I expected a dish that exceeded that of a run-of-the-mill restaurant. Unfortunately I was disappointed. When criticism was expressed to the waiter, he fled the table without comment. After the bone-dry experience, I was full but not satisfied. That's why there are 3 stars for this.

I had a salad first and the beef fillet as the main course. What I remember positively is the delicious vegetables and meat. Although I wanted my steak medium, it was very close to done. Nevertheless, the meat was very tender and good. Unfortunately, the potato gratin tasted too strongly of cumin and didn't go well with the meal. The salad beforehand was okay, but the mustard dressing was too spicy for me personally. Unfortunately, the meat quality of my companions wasn't that good and was quite dry (duck breast and sauerbraten) After we were asked whether the food was tasty, we passed on the criticism or constructive criticism, which unfortunately wasn't really noticed. Overall, I would only rate the restaurant three out of five stars because we waited a long time for the food, it really wasn't great in terms of taste and the price is absolutely not justified!

I recently visited the Rose am Dom restaurant and was absolutely thrilled! The food was simply outstanding - every dish was a highlight in terms of taste, beautifully presented and made with high-quality ingredients. The house specialties, which are both creative and authentic, are particularly recommended. A big compliment also goes to the waiter HAKKI, who made the evening even nicer. He was not only super nice and accommodating, but also extremely competent and attentive. With his warm manner he made us feel really welcome and was always helpful with questions about the map. The restaurant's ambience is stylish and cozy - a perfect place to spend a special evening. I will definitely come back and can warmly recommend the “Rose am Dom”!

Restaurant with a great atmosphere. We were a very large group for supper and the waiting time was long, we got the cream soup an hour and a half after ordering. The main meal was almost immediately after eating the cream soup, it's okay. Service in English at a very good level. The chestnut cream was delicious, it was the first time I ate something like this and I was positively surprised. Main course - steak. The service did not ask us about the level of doneness of the meat. Despite this, it was delicious. Huge portion! Dessert average, did not suit me. Overall, I rate the stay very good and give a strong 4!

Best Wiener Schnitzel & Creme Brulee ever!!

I'm thrilled! We were there spontaneously today with our little son (3.5 years old) (not always 100% suitable for a restaurant) and were treated very courteously. The food absolutely convinced me and everyone else at the table; it is a successful mix of fine cuisine and home cooking. The only criticism is that one dish came a little later, but the overall impression is positive. We'd love to come back!

We asked for the bill, the waitress told us the total anount, we paid.. it all happened very quickly.. then we insisted receiving the bill… we got it, they overcharged us 18 euros hoping that we wouldn’t ask for the details.. we were immediately reimbursed and the waitress gave us a lame excuse.. the food was okay.. we did not feel welcome.. we felt this place was dishonest , so tourists beware!!
