Very nice place. Absolute must if you want to experience “Hessian culture”. The restaurant offers everything you could want from a cider restaurant. The prices are also very humane. When we visited, the meat sausage with sauerkraut and the fried potatoes with green sauce were a bit lukewarm. Hence a star deduction. Nevertheless, an absolute recommendation and we will definitely come back. Must try: The “salmon bread” with pollack. You can hardly find something like this anywhere anymore and it tastes great.

The food is good, the selection is manageable but sufficient. The portions were quite generous, I couldn't finish everything. The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The decor is rustic and appropriate for a cider restaurant. WiFi is available. All in all a good location.

It was an all-round lovely evening with delicious food, friendly & attentive service! There were three of us and we ordered across the menu, everyone was happy. A great traditional Frankfurt cuisine. We can't understand the negative comments at all.

We loved the food and the atmosphere, it seems to be a typical place in the region. The bad thing is that we didn't know that we had to be German to be well received, we saw how the waiter joked and was very nice to the rest of the diners. With us, since we arrived, the hostile attitude was noticeable, he did not seem to want to serve us and when we spoke to him to be able to order more, he asked us for a minute and never returned, we just watched him pass by all the tables talking and joking, and he just ignored us to us. Despite that, we enjoyed the food and the night, we would only think again to return.

Unfortunately, the schnitzel was warmed up, very thin and dripping with fat, as were the fried potatoes. The sauerkraut was so acidified with cheap table vinegar that it was inedible - why do that? Guests would like to eat sauerkraut and not pickled cabbage. The portions were also quite small for the price. A positive highlight is the farmer's bread, which really tasted excellent - in contrast to the bread with grains, which was not convincing. Overall, there is a lot that could be improved here...

Unfortunately the food was just mediocre. The schnitzel was too thick and the fried potatoes weren't crispy enough. However, the service was particularly disappointing: When we politely asked how long the meal would take, the waitress reacted unfriendly and made fun of us for being impatient. Additionally, the goulash came a full 20 minutes later than the rest of the meal. The store looks like a typical tourist trap - lots of appearances, little quality. Unfortunately, the traditional Hessian flair that you would expect here is completely missing. Overall a big disappointment.

Cool welcome, very brusque service food OK but served far to quickly and tip was requested but certainly not earned - try Wagner Haus for far better atmosphere!

Outrageous, waited 15 minutes for drinks to be taken. I ordered a beer, the answer was "we're in Frankfurt, we don't have that here" and I didn't ask if I wanted something else but asked the next person. Shameful because there was wheat on a neighboring table. Twice there, twice such treatment, thank you, but there won't be a third time here.

An old, venerable house with a great history! The murals and the seating in this Äppelwein restaurant alone speak volumes. Everyone meets here, no matter rich or poor, everyone is welcome. This house has been around for a lifetime and has been passed down from generation to generation. Yes, the menu, everything that is ordered is fresh and very good! Everyone feels at home here, including the numerous tourists from all over the world. You make contact very quickly and it's fun to have a lot of conversation! Beautiful Sachsenhausen economy with everything that goes with it. Very tasty apple wine, the Frankfurter Platte is also recommended. Of course a little touristy, but definitely recommended.

Had dinner in the restaurant “Zum Gemalten Haus” with a group of 15. The restaurant offers authentic, rustic and regional dishes. Far away from the “fancy” of many Frankfurt restaurants. If you like traditional cuisine, you're in good hands here.

Äppelwoi was great. The food was very tasty. Portions were a bit small, but you can also order something extra. We got a place straight away. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was the electric sliding door to the outside because it kept opening and closing because it kept getting cold. Maybe a thick entrance curtain would be good. Great traditional restaurant.

Very full restaurant, therefore a lot of hustle and bustle and noise. The service was very direct, my reservation for 5 people was just a reminder. Our table was occupied. But the lady was very friendly and accompanied us through the evening. Now to eat, I had the classic ribs with fried potatoes. If you like fatty meat, this is the right choice. It reminded me of pork knuckle. The sauerkraut was delicious, but the fried potatoes were so bad. Not crispy, no bacon or onions in sight. Could have also been used as boiled potatoes. Anyone who visits Frankfurt must have been here. But then just drink cider and eat an appetizer. The anchovy bread with meat salad was very good. The portions are also clearly enough to fill you up. There was nothing to say about it 😉

Vegetarians and Vegans: Run. There is nothing at all for vegans. The vegetarian stuff tastes horrible. Reminds me of gas station food. If you look for your group, you will be sent "somewhere back" in the huge store. You can only have a conversation with just two people because it's way too crowded and loud. It's been a really long time since the food was so bad in Frankfurt. By far the worst cider bar in Sachsenhausen.

The waiter was inappropriately rude

Would give zero stars if I could. Have lived in Germany for three months and this is the worst service I’ve experienced. Owner overcharged me and shouted at me “lady lady this is how we do the bill here” when I politely asked if I could review the bill before paying. He took my credit card out of my hands. He only spoke respectfully when my husband spoke - clearly he’s a sexist too who doesn’t like to listen to women. AVOID AVOID.

It's always nice to have a good glass of beer there. One of the still fewer and fewer rustic apple wine taverns. The food there is also typically Frankfurt.

We ate here for the first time yesterday in a large group. The restaurant is comfortably furnished and has plenty of space. The food was very tasty and was served quickly. Unfortunately the waiter couldn't keep up with the drinks. Some drinks only came after asking three times, some not at all. It is also surprising that some things are apparently not on the menu but are still offered. As a desert there is e.g. only red jelly but you can also order chocolate cake with fruit. Locals told us that apple cider spritz in various variations was a popular drink. It's not on the menu, just normal cider, but you can order it. If you know that, nothing stands in the way of a lovely evening.

Old traditional location. We were a little disappointed with the food. I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the bratwurst was very dry and the amount of side dishes was manageable. Nevertheless, we had a nice afternoon.

Top restaurant in Frankfurt. We were late so our reservation was given to someone else. The nice waiter was still able to organize a place for us for 1.5 hours. Since we already knew what we were going to eat, we had more than enough time👍🏻. Our food always came quickly, warm and the waiter was very friendly. When asked how he can still be friendly with so much stress, he just said “it’s quiet here”. Thank you for the evening!

Of all the restaurants we visited, this is the most genuine, there are only local people.

The service is not always as fast as it was before Corona, which is a shame.

The painted house offers a beautiful ambience and friendly service. For dinner I had Leberkäs with egg and potato salad. Was very tasty! I can only recommend it. All in all I was very satisfied, but unfortunately there are only 4 stars because, contrary to expectations, smoking is allowed there and it therefore smells a bit.

The "Gemaltes Haus" is a long-established, traditional Frankfurt apple winery with the appropriate atmosphere. The paneled guest room with its special charm is typical here. The menu is typical and traditional for an apple winery, and a weekly menu is also served. The staff is friendly and helpful, the price/performance ratio corresponds to the area. For me, as a Frankfurter, a “Steppel Fleischworst” with cabbage and a glass of beer is a must. Definitely worth a visit 🙂

Found by chance. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is really tasty at normal prices. Highly recommended and not far from the shopping area. Overall, parking in Frankfurt is very, very difficult.

The food is authentic German! We had beef tongue, meat loaf and grilled pork. It is delicious it’s moist and very tender ! Turned out we ordered double of it lol The atmosphere is cozy and rustic deco. The waiter (black shirt) is very kind and nice. We had such a great meal and time there!!

This traditional Äbbelwoi tavern is located in the middle of the rustic, traditional district of Sachsenhausen. Not only does it taste particularly good here, but the legendary Frankfurter Schnitzel with semolina sauce and fried potatoes is also definitely worth a visit!

Very tasty German food. I can warmly recommend it. The only thing that slightly bothered me was the floor in front of the urinal and the fact that there was a small piece of aluminum foil in my food. Therefore one star deducted overall. But that doesn't stop me from visiting again.

I visited on a Saturday around 2:30 pm, and most of the seats were occupied, but there was a halfway-shaped table, so I was seated there. I felt like the staff in that area had whispered in my ear that they were busy and might not be able to respond right away, so I tried to eat as quickly as possible. The food is as you see.

Unverschämt teuer geworden. Wir hatten einen Frankfurter Schnitzel, der war zwar OK, die grüne Soße hat gut geschmeckt, die Kartoffeln waren halb gebraten und das ganze konnte keinen richtigen Platz auf dem Teller finden. Also nicht mehr zum Gemalten Haus!

The food was very good. I had the “Grie Soß” with eggs and fried potatoes, which is typical for Frankfurt. We also shared a medium-sized Bembel with several people. The hospitality was very good. Our waitress was in a good mood. It was a shame that it was not possible to make individual invoices for EC card payments. However, the acoustics are a detractor. It was very loud there, but that was due to the acoustics of the room and the construction.

Yesterday we were invited to a wedding celebration in the Gemaltes Haus, You could actually celebrate well here because the atmosphere is rustic and beautiful. Unfortunately, what many people noticed negatively was the provision of food to the guests. While the first guests had long since had dessert, the last ones were still waiting to order. Something like that shouldn't exist within a society. Of course, not everything can always run smoothly, but a two-hour difference is huge. What consoled me somewhat was that everyone enjoyed the food excellently.

Maître d' was very off-putting during dinner service. Disappointed. No matter how good food is, if service is bad it's a dealbreaker. I went to Apfelwein Wagner instead.

The atmosphere is very cozy, partly because of the beautiful surroundings and partly because of the very nice staff. The schnitzel with green sauce is a must on every visit; The food is always great and the prices are quite fair, which isn't always the case these days. Only recommended! 🍷😉

Nie wieder die blonde Kellnerin eine ältere Dame war total verpeilt und unfähig. Das Essen kam nach und nach erst hab ich gegessen danach bekam meine Mann sein Essen. Das Essen hat nicht geschmeckt und ich denke es ist auf den Teller geworfen worden. Schade das lokal WAR mal kult.

The Gemaltes Haus in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen is a good restaurant for anyone who loves Hessian cuisine. The cozy atmosphere and the rustic furnishings are very authentic. The Äppler is very good and I can highly recommend the homemade bratwurst. The service was great and we were served quickly, even though the store was very busy. A reservation is definitely recommended here. We'd love to come back

Süße und saure Schorlen sind unbekannt. Aber selbst wenn wir es erklären. Die Bedienung schafft es nicht, das auch korrekt an die Theke weiterzugeben. Mein Tartar war herzlos angerichtet und die Kellnerin wusste auch nicht, dass man dazu Salz, Pfeffer, Tabasco, Worchestersauce, Senf, Ketchup dazu reicht, wenn man sich schon selbst bedienen und anrichten soll. Irgendwie passten die Beilagen nicht: nicht klein genug geschnitten und die Sardellen habe ich bislang hier zum ersten Mal erhalten.

せっかくのフランフルとだから、リンゴ酒酒場に行かなければ。 ずっと以前に行った記憶をたどって訪ねてみた。 こんな大きな店だったかな。相当の席数がある。 せっかくのリンゴ酒酒場だから、リンゴ酒を飲まなければいけないのだが、せっかくのヘッセンなので白ワインを飲まなければ。 それでリースリングを注文。 でも、せっかくのリンゴ酒酒場なのでいかにものシュラハトプラテ（血のソーセージ、レバーのソーセージ、あばら肉にザワークラウトを添えたもの）を注文。この料理にはジャガイモの潰したのとエンドウ豆の潰したのを添えてほしいが、ジャガイモ炒めだったのは、ちょっと残念。 しかし、すごい量。食べ物はめったに残さないが、今回は少しだけ残した。 最後にリンゴ酒を一杯飲んだ。実はあまり好きじゃない。 有名なリンゴ酒酒場なのに値段が手ごろなのは嬉しい。 店名の「ツム＝ゲマールテン＝ハウス」どおり、建物に絵が描かれている。

Rustic and traditional atmosphere

No longer recommended. We came here again after a long time. Unfortunately the food was really not good. Schnitzel soaked in fat, soft in the middle, too dark on the outside. (I didn't take a photo of the back) Fried potatoes were too salty and my friend's were completely charred. The Äppler was also warm. It's a shame, because we were really hungry, so hunger got the better of us. Otherwise we would probably have left it, despite the price. Maybe we were unlucky, but plates like that shouldn't have gone out.

Rustic apple winery in Sachsenhausen with wide-awake service, very fast food, delicious dishes and a delicious Äppler. Went there with a group of 10 people, the food arrived perfectly prepared within 15 minutes of ordering. Had the veal Frankfurter Schnitzel. The meat was tender and the breading was perfect. The Frankfurt green sauce was absolutely convincing, as were the perfectly made fried potatoes. Really recommended and not a small portion. My neighbor had beef brisket and was also very impressed with the quality of the meat. Here too, a fairly large portion. The apple cider tasted good, as did the medlar afterwards. For me as a southern German who is used to Stuttgart, the prices are good and not higher than here in the Swabian Alb. A big thank you for the linear pricing at Äppler, that's how it should be.
