This was my favorite place to eat and have a drink in Frankfurt. The vegan schnitzel was incredible, the atmosphere was perfect, and the whole team was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend to folks visiting.

Top apple wine bar in Frankfurt. I always enjoy going to Dauth-Schneider. The service is always first-class, with typical Frankfurt charm. The food and drinks always come quickly, even though the place is often very busy. The food is typically Frankfurt-style, but with very good vegetarian and vegan options (vegan Frankfurter schnitzel, for example). The restaurant itself is, as expected, rustic, and you sit on benches. If there are only two or three of you, you might end up at the same table with other guests.

Nice, traditional restaurant. Good cider and food for large groups, although the kitchen struggles with large groups and the waiters are overwhelmed. I sat there for 45 minutes just to order and then had to wait just as long for the food. The Jägerschnitzel was cooked quite well. On the other hand, paying was quick and easy...

Our regular haunt for years. We love sitting outside and eating Frankfurter schnitzel. Simply the best apple wine bar in Frankfurt!

We went while sightseeing. The food was truly authentic and good, and the portions were generous. The service was exceptional, attentive to everything and trying to understand us at all times. The price was in line with the quantity and quality. We had a wonderful time on the terrace with the typical tables. A definite stop if we return!

When I requested a reservation for a group, I was immediately informed that everyone had to arrive on time, food had to be ordered, and that I, as the person making the reservation, would be responsible for the entire bill. My suggestion that a mistake could also be the fault of the staff was dismissed as an insinuation. We prefer to eat elsewhere where they know how to treat customers/guests appropriately.

Honest German cuisine, top value for money

A mass-market restaurant geared toward tourists. The service can be a bit overwhelmed. But there are also some very friendly people who try their best. The food doesn't necessarily seem freshly cooked. There's definitely room for improvement in terms of taste.

A very German experience! First time tasting applewine (a sour apple cider, you top it up with sparkling water), and the famous "green sauce". Both were very much to my taste! A great combination of meat, salad, potato, sauerkraut, in a typical beer hall setting.

If you are Taiwanese, you can skip this place. The pork chops are dry and the pig's feet are fishy. It is really unpalatable.

I was there yesterday with my brother and can wholeheartedly recommend you! Delicious food at fair prices! A wonderful outdoor seating area too. We'd love to come back. :)

Nice place with German traditional food and reasonable price

The restaurant at the Monkey Fountain offers a lovely outdoor seating area, where you can enjoy good, home-style cooking at reasonable prices. The staff is attentive.

We were a stag party with seven women. Four of them were drivers or pregnant. Three of them had drunk a little alcohol, but not a lot. We wanted to go to the restaurant for dinner but were very rudely kicked out simply because we were a stag party. It was evident from our sashes. We couldn't even explain anything before we were kicked out again. As a long-time customer who often celebrates her birthday there, I was more than disappointed.

Unfortunately, the place was incredibly unfriendly. We called to ask if there was room for seven people and were told it wouldn't be a problem; we should just drop by. 20 minutes later, we arrived and weren't even given a glance. No greeting, nothing. Instead, we were sent out with the loud words, "No bachelorette parties here, you can go!!!" Our group included four drivers and a pregnant woman. The only thing that "given" us away as a bachelorette party was the bride's veil. We were quiet, sober, and just wanted something to eat. It's one thing to decide that you don't want bachelorette parties in your restaurant. That's certainly the proprietor's right to decide that. But it's a completely different matter how you communicate that to your customers. At least you can communicate on equal terms and say, "Hey, we're sorry, we've had bad experiences with stag and hen parties in the past and have therefore decided not to allow any more." Everyone can understand that, and it would be perfectly fine. But you don't have to be condescending, derogatory, and almost aggressive. Unnecessary and truly disgusting. We were very welcome at the Struwwelpeter next door and had a lovely dinner.

On a sunny weekday during the summer holidays, we were happy to get a table inside without a reservation after having been turned away elsewhere. The service was super friendly, and the Frankfurter Handkäs starter and the Äppelwoi (apple wine) were delicious.

We were very impressed with the food. We thought the value for money was really good. The ambiance was more like a festival tent.

Great selection of dishes! The food was very tasty, but I found the vegetarian Frankfurter schnitzel to be quite small (unfortunately, it only came with 4 small potatoes). Otherwise, the service was nice!

Apfelweinwirtscharft amable y atmosférico. IT nos recordó a algunos de nuestros pubs de cerveza real favoritos en casa. Estaban muy ocupados, pero nos encajaron y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. Tienen grandes grupos y mucha gente vertiéndose por la puerta e hicieron que servir comida a todos pareciera fácil. Soy vegetariano y había una opción más grande de lo habitual en el menú. ¡Salsa verde! Y el acompañamiento del pepino nunca supe que faltaban en mi vida hasta que los probé. Así como apfelwein tenía una deliciosa cerveza de trigo local. Pulgares grandes arriba.

I took a group of American friends to Dauth-Schneider. They have not experienced this kind of environment in Frankfurt. The service was exceptional and the food tasty and well prepared. We are coming back for more liver and onions……

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Celebrated my 60th birthday in a true Frankfurt atmosphere 🥂 We celebrated my partner's 60th birthday outside 🎉 – it was simply fantastic! 🍽️🌳 Great atmosphere under the chestnut trees, super friendly and fast service 😊, delicious food (especially the ribs, schnitzel, and handkäs 🧀🍖), and of course, a really good apple wine 🍎🥂. Making a reservation was easy, and even special requests were accommodated ✅. A true piece of Frankfurt – highly recommended! 🏙️❤️

Very nice staff The pub seemed very appealing to me. What I found a bit of a shame was that I wanted to order a salad with vinegar and oil and it wasn't available, but it's not that dramatic.

We had a Frankfurter schnitzel and a schnitzel salad with green sauce. The food was delicious and the prices were absolutely reasonable. One minor criticism: the breading on the schnitzel could have been fluffier. However, the portion was large enough.

Drinks were okay. Food was okay. Cabbage was just seasoned, cheaply prepared. Fried potatoes were undercooked and fat-free. The classic tarte flambée needed another three minutes. Onions were almost raw, bacon wasn't crispy.

I don’t read German so, it’s a little tricky when you get there because there are a couple of other restaurants sharing the same outdoor seating space. Remember to look for Dauth -Schneider. It’s the yellow sign board . Middle restaurant. Nice German ladies serving there.The food is very authentic German. I can say the best of all the ones I tried. The portion is rather big. Great for sharing to try everything.

If you're looking for authentic, local food of the highest quality and want to treat yourself to an Äppler, this is the place for you...my absolute recommendation and a "must-go" when visiting Frankfurt.

When we politely asked if our table (we arrived 20 minutes before the reservation time) was available, we received an uninviting, snippy, and unfriendly response. The ribs were very thick and very dry, the Handkäs mit Musik (music cheese) and sauerkraut without caraway, and the Frankfurter schnitzel with a very thick coating (very good green sauce!). Despite the lovely, traditional, bourgeois atmosphere, it felt more like a tourist-friendly place, focusing on quantity over quality. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to it and left disappointed, despite the apple wine.

Also, die Haxe mit Sauerkraut war nicht gut Haxe war nicht so zart und das Sauerkraut hatte einen üblen Nachgeschmack. Das Hacksteak war kalt und die Beilagen Salate haben auch komisch geschmeckt. Sorry aber selbst der Apfelwein hatte ein komischen Nachgeschmack.

The food - Ribs with cabbage and bread - Large goulash soup and - Schnitzel with hunter's sauce and Spaetzle Everything was very tasty and also appetizingly presented in the delivery box. Thank you for still offering very good German food at reasonable prices, even with delivery. You impressed us not only in the restaurant but also with your delivery service. Thank you

Looooved this place. After a very long flight this was the perfect way to spend a rainy few hours having lunch. The staff were so knowledgeable and wonderful to chat to. I had the Frankfurter schnitzel, local Pilsner, local apfelwein and was recommended the local mespil drink and they were all fantastic. The staff recommendations were absolutely en pointe and this has been the highlight of our trip to Frankfurt. I WILL be back 🙂

Wasn't that great, maybe just picked the wrong day

A really good Apfelweinlokal with an extensive selection of regional classic dishes. They have a large, but cozy indoor area with lots of seating. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and spoke English. We weren’t sure how much apfelwein we would drink so started out with a 4er Bembel. For dinner starter, we tried Handkäse with Musik. Then had Frankfurter style Schnitzel with Grüne Soße and roasted potatoes, Grilled Bacon Chop with Spätzle and salad. All was generous portions for a fair price. The apfelwein was so smooth, we ordered another 4er! Before the kitchen closed, we got some Apple strudel to-go for our breakfast in the morning! The tables were full of boisterous groups, making it clear this is a place the locals enjoy!

Unpleasant service, mediocre food, terrible service, and a long wait. Each dish takes more than 25 minutes to be served, and they offer no apologies. They lack empathy and politeness; not recommended. There are better places around here with better service.

No. Unfriendly staff, who were unfortunately overwhelmed by the lack of structure. The food was also unloving and not very tasty. I've rarely had such bad liver dumplings. The cordon bleu was out of fried food. The aspic was quite nice.

I had a delicious lunch here, featuring authentic Hessian cuisine, especially the famous green sauce. The value for money was great, while the overall atmosphere was very relaxing. I would gladly return.

I usually really like going here. It's nice to sit outside in the summer. The staff is usually really cool. Blondie or the older veterans ;) We went today on a holiday. Many tables were free, or reservations weren't available until 1.5 hours later. We wanted a drink and a bite to eat at 4:00 PM. At first, they said it was okay, but then the rude waitress came to our table, looking snotty and wearing fake eyelashes. Nope, just a main course, sorry. Such behavior is irritating and annoying. The place seems to be doing well enough.

I've decided to have my lunch there and wanted to give it a try. You will see a sign at the entrance, saying please wait. There was a group in front of me, they haven't waited so long however when it was my turn they kept ignoring me for some reason(my guess is because i was alone; means less income for them). After waiting around 10 mins they finally decided me to have a seat and ironicaly they came to ask what i want so quick. I didn't like their behaviors and decided only to have a drink. Because they gave me the shittiest table which was like 30 degrees under the sun(this part is acceptable because i had no reservation) i tried to call them idk how many times to ask if its possible to change the table, they kept ignoring me until i got a sunburn. At the end i managed to sit somewhere else then realised you actually don't have to have a rezervation in order to sit some tables there, they said no to me because only 1 person is no customer for them apparently. As long as i finished my drink, the lady which she kept ignoring me with a fake smile suddenly ended up my table asking if o want another drink. I said "ich überlege" then she immediately left with a very rude behaviour saying some cursing words in german. Don't ever come here as a 1 person if you want to be treated properly.

A pleasant atmosphere, occasionally irritable service, and overpriced drinks make this place a great place to linger. The food was simple but good.

I found this restaurant very pleasant; it wasn't too loud or crowded. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. We were assigned a table even though we hadn't made a reservation.

So after a day of walking around the city, this was a truly homely, pleasant way to end the day. I didn't eat anything; I did that somewhere else, but of course I had to treat myself to an eppelwoi today. It's served in the typical patterned glass (see pictures). If you prefer cider with spritzer, you'll have to order it that way. Otherwise, it'll be served neat :-)

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. But... the smell of pork was so strong in the Eiswein. It was so bad that flies kept buzzing around. The asparagus soup was delicious. But the Eiswein was really... It wasn't so bad that it was uneatable, but it was disappointing because the smell was so strong.

The potatoes were extremely burnt and still raw on the other side. The first waiter responded, "It's not my fault, I didn't do it." But afterward, he offered a shot of schnapps as an apology.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't seasoned. The schnitzel was good, but the fried potatoes were undercooked and unseasoned. As compensation, we were given a shot of schnapps. At least that's what it was.

The food was horrible, the older staff said they didn't cook it. The young waitress was nice though, and he was cool. The potato was burnt like a shoe sole. I wouldn't even give it to my hamster. I was even drunk, and it still tasted like cracks.

Unfortunately the chef changed in 2024, now the food is only worth ⭐️1 star. Excellent home cooking like grandma's. Gladly again. It's nice that there are still pubs like this, that aren't just a scam for tourists.

Direct and friendly service... I can recommend the sparkling apple wine as well as the salad with schnitzel strips and green sauce. And all at a fair price. The sun in the beer or wine garden gets an extra star 😅

We were rudely sent on our way because we just wanted to drink cider and not eat anything. There were enough places available, in a cider bar I actually expect a place for thirsty people who don't want to eat. Then there are 14 people right next to the competition.

When visiting frankfurt visit this place,the atmosphere is great, the service comes with a smile, and the food is affordable and had a great classic taste. We loved it and came back the day after!

One of the best cider bars in Sachsenhausen! The outdoor area is typically Hessian cozy, under old trees - perfect for mild evenings. The apple wine is wonderfully tart and exactly as it should be - a real Frankfurt original. A big compliment to our waitress: super warm, quick and always with a smile. Despite the full house, she had everything under control and was incredibly attentive. This just makes you feel good. A must for everyone who wants to experience the real Frankfurt feeling - definitely come back!

We were looking for an authentic German restaurant in Frankfurt, and we certainly found it here. Our waitress (blonde, I wish I knew her name!) was so accommodating in making recommendations and helping to translate. She recommended the green sauce for our Schnitzel, and it was fantastic. Paired with the Apfelwein, I am still dreaming of this meal. Incredibly affordable, huge portions, made fresh with great outdoor ambiance. 10/10 would recommend!

Typical German food, without a doubt the best place for them, whenever I go to Frankfurt I end up there, the Frankfurter Grüne Soße is fantastic, the best in all of Frankfurt.

Amazing! If you are looking for a very approachable and authentic experience of eating true German food, this is the place to go. I can especially recommend the dishes with „Frankfurter Grüne-Soße“. This dish actually originated from the neighboring city part called „Oberrad“. A perfect opportunity to experience Frankfurt as a native, tourist or with a business event.
