We always enjoy going to Dauth-Schneider, a cozy apple wine bar in the middle of Sachsenhausen on Affentorplatz with a classic Hessian menu. The atmosphere can be a bit loud at times, but if you don't like that, you can't go to the apple winery.

The schnitzel, Apfelwein, and liver sausage were delicious with a very energetic and friendly mother! It's voluminous, so it's best to consult your stomach before ordering 🙆‍♀️

The food is Hessian and good for trying everything. Very popular because it was very loud inside and unfortunately uncomfortable on the beer benches. The beer tables are too narrow to accommodate food when someone is sitting across from them. Not my thing. 😐

Excellent!!! Simply great!! I came to eat a typical Frankfurt cuisine dish but it was a lot of food for 1 person. I chose pork mignon medallions in pepper sauce and toasted potatoes!!! The salad that accompanies is also delicious!! Super Divine!!!!

Absolutely loved sitting in the garden. Staff was very friendly. Had the huge Frankfurt schnitzel and Jaeger schnitzel. Every part of the meal was delicious. The green sauce delightful. The apfelwein was refreshing, especially with a small part of water added.

They treated us very well and the food was fantastic. We had dinner in a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately the reservation was forgotten, but otherwise the service was good. Food is below average for the price, but there are better alternatives. The furnishings are quite nice, but nothing that stands out. You can do it, but you don't have to now.

Nice restaurant with a beer garden

Wir sind in der Vergangenheit immer mal wieder zum Dauth-Schneider gegangen, zumal im Sommer, wenn man auf dem Affentorplatz wunderbar draußen sitzen kann. Diesmal, nach längerer Pause unsererseits, war leider das Essen sehr mäßig. Besonders negativ ist zu bemerken, dass die Grüne Soße mit Zwiebeln und Knoblauch (!!) zubereitet wird: ein absolutes No-Go. Erstens schmeckt es zu scharf und penetrant zwiebelig / knofelig, zweitens stinkt man hinterher, und zwar auch noch am Tag danach. Auch der Salat war eine Enttäuschung: braun und schlapp. Da war wohl keine Zeit zum Einkaufen. Schnitzel und Bratwurst waren in Ordnung, das Sauerkraut dazu etwas ZU sauer. Der Service, das muss man sagen, war super freundlich, und zwar durchgehend. Die Küche hingegen sollte sich unbedingt mehr anstrengen, es gibt zu viele ordentliche Alternativen in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft. Wir werden jedenfalls wahrscheinlich so schnell nicht wiederkommen. Schade.

[SA 4/20/24] Whenever we are in Frankfurt, we end the day with four half eggs, potatoes and Frankfurt green sauce, preferably at Dauth-Schneider. We've always been there on Saturday evenings and the place was always packed. You sit there at meter-long tables on wooden benches. Except once, the two of us were always lucky and got a small corner at the end of the table. Regarding service: we always avoid the gentlemen who have been working there for decades, as they are usually grumpy and unfriendly and seem to have little interest in customers. We always look for young, friendly, mostly female service staff and have always had luck here, hence five stars for the service.

Food is very good. The restaurant is a traditional cider bar and has been preserved in its original form. It has none of the artificial flair of a regular restaurant. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor area with old trees against the backdrop of beautiful old houses. You get a very cheap lunch. I had a fresh redfish fillet with boiled potatoes and tartar sauce for 9.90 euros. Elsewhere you can only get frozen food at lunchtime for a lot more money. The lunch menu is also varied. I was satisfied every time. Unfortunately, parking options are limited. You have to walk a bit, but it's definitely worth it. The staff is very nice and accommodating

Unfortunately I can only rate the service here - not the food; Because I didn't even get that far: I took a seat at one of the free, unreserved tables in the beautiful outdoor area. Then nothing happened for a while. The neighboring table was cleared, cleaned, re-set, guests seated and menus handed out. At the table behind me, the drink orders of the guests who arrived later than me were taken; It was just me who was deliberately ignored - well ok - I was hungry and thirsty, but in no rush on Sunday evening. Then I obviously made a blatant mistake, for which I would like to apologize deeply: I placed a beer mat from the stand on the table in front of me!!! After about 15 minutes a waiter (the older one, slim, grey-haired) came and asked me in a gruff tone, without a "hello" or "good evening": "Have you already ordered?" Of course I said no, pointing out that I hadn't received a card yet. Harsh answer: "There is a bid lid in front of you - that means the order has been taken!". I explained that I had no way of knowing. How is the guest supposed to know the secret codes of the service? When the rude question came, “So what do you want?” I didn't want anything more. As a guest, I certainly didn't want to be insulted in such a tone. Luckily I didn't have to walk far, I just sat down at the next table 3 meters further to the right, which belongs to the neighboring restaurant. There I experienced the complete opposite in terms of customer friendliness. To be fair, I should mention that I was able to watch the other Dauth-Schneider waitresses at work from there. For example, the older lady with the blonde ponytail who always had a smile and always a kind word for the guests. Maybe she can give her colleague a little help in the interests of the restaurant.

Super nice, friendly young lady as a waitress, with an eye for the guest. The knuckle was great, my female companion's was great too, the sauerkraut was perfect. Can only be recommended.

You can eat and drink very well in a rustic atmosphere here.

This is a restaurant that the group went to because they wanted to eat Schwein Haksen. It was nice that there were more locals than tourists. The haxen was light and the schnitzel was a bit dry. All the staff were friendly and responded appropriately.

Unfortunately, the food was disappointing and didn't taste good at all! Neither schnitzel nor liver dumplings or sausage salad. Prices are simply outrageous for a pub with such food. The beer was good.

Used for lunch. Order from today's specialty. Lunch is a great value at 12€, so we recommend it!! I visited on a day off while on a business trip, so I felt really good after having an extra lunch. Let's come again.

Not as touristy as it's down a side street. Schnitzel with green sauce, delicious and hot. Welcoming and friendly lady working the door and tables. Super nice and cool under the trees. Very nice.

We ended up here on a rained out evening. The restaurant was busy but still had lots of space as it has a huge amount of seating in different sections, not noticeable from the small entrance door. Good place to go with a big group. Service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious with generous portions at standard prices. I tried my first Apfelwein here, which was not my favourite, but I cannot comment on the quality as I feel it’s simply not my kind of drink. For dinner I had the Frankfurter Schnitzel with Bratkartoffeln and Grüne Soße, and my partner had the Jägerschnitzel with Spätzle. Both were massive and delicious. I could only eat half :) I would definitely come back here to try more of their food.

We were here for dinner with 4 people. The staff tried to organize a place for us outside, which worked. The drinks came relatively quickly, unfortunately our water was forgotten and there were large beers instead of the small ones as ordered. After about 45 minutes our food arrived which was the biggest disappointment. The green sauce is probably with garlic, which I don't think is okay if it isn't mentioned anywhere. At least I was surprised and didn't like it. In addition, the sausages on the sausage platters were not crispy. A nice place to eat but unfortunately the food can't keep up with the other cider bars.

Very nice apple wine restaurant, especially the vegan options (vegan schnitzel and vegan cream cheese with green sauce and potatoes) are really great. The cider is also very good. I can also highly recommend the sweet tarte flambée as a dessert.

Great, long-established business in the Sachsenhausen district of Frankfurt. We sat outside under large, shady trees and probably had the best service in all of Frankfurt!!!! Of course you definitely have to drink a glass of apple cider. The food is traditional and home-style. A visit there is absolutely recommended!!!!

We had dinner there today while visiting Frankfurt. We sat outside at Affentorplatz under the trees 🌳 🌳. That was really nice. There was plenty of choice. The food was mediocre. Service didn't work at all. Didn't come back once again. Conclusion doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

We were just there with our daughter. It is very busy, but the service is very attentive. At first it seemed very child-friendly. There is an extra children's menu that contains more than just nuggets and fish fingers. When we played a round of cards, the waitress came over excitedly and said playing cards was forbidden. The reason is that the boss doesn't want that. ?????? But if the child plays on the cell phone or tablet, that's okay. ?????

Food quite okay, green sauce and fried potatoes rather so-so. Price/performance not good. What didn't work at all: Service staff very rudely told us that playing cards was forbidden here. We were still on our first drink, so there was absolutely no (understandable) reason to react so rudely. There are much better cider bars. Addition: the blonde waitress was very nice and gave us a round of schnapps on the house to compensate for the service. Therefore 1 star more

Unfortunately, now at the European Championships I had the feeling that the food was no longer as usual. Green sauce with potatoes....unfortunately very carelessly prepared, eggs hidden under very little green sauce, too much potatoes for not enough sauce and that for a hefty price of €13.80...sorry but that looked completely like EM Touri- food out. And the vegan schnitzel that someone in our group had...well, it looks different

Went looking for the Apfelwein and found this place. Lovely traditional pub. Spent the afternoon watching the world go by. Great service and the Apfelwein was beautiful.

Good beer before the euro match

The Frankfurter Schnitzel and the Handkäs were very tasty, the grits were fantastic. The fried potatoes were good, but they could use a little more oomph. The hand cheese with music also tasted great. The service is quick and courteous. The ambience is very nice. Inside there is a rustic wooden interior and outside you can sit in the green under the trees, which we really liked.

If you want classic Frankfurt cuisine and generally a very authentic vibe, you should definitely check it out. Their specialties are the „Apfelwein“ which is Cider and also their dishes with the special Frankfurt „Grüne Soße“ which is basically a sauce with more than 12 herbs. There were even vegetarian and vegan options available.

We were there with 13 people and of course we had pre-ordered. We sat outside in the best weather and it was wonderful. The service was top! The nice ladies were very quick and attentive. The food tasted and looked great. The price is appropriate. We will be back!

Classic cider bar. We were there with a large group and had the entire winter garden to ourselves. The service was great, quick as always and no long waiting times despite being busy. One star deducted for the meal because the green sauce unfortunately didn't taste classic, somehow very garlicky, which the whole table confirmed. Tastes vary, but I wouldn't order green sauce here again. Veal schnitzel and asparagus were very tasty!

Schweizer Wurstsalat mit 10 Streifchen Wurst über einem Berg von Zwiebeln und Gurken zum Preis von 13,70€. Nepp pur! Nicht empfehlenswert.

Schweizer Wurstsalat, darunter stellt man sich eine in Streifen geschnittene ordentliche Portion Fleischwurst oder Lyoner mit Käsestreifen vor, die für eine Sättigung zu einem Apfelwein prima passt. Weit gefehlt: 10 Streifen Wurst über einer Unmenge von Gurken- und Zwiebelwürfeln. In Süddeutschland würde man einen solchen Wirt des Ländles verweisen. Die Reklamation war selbst der Bedienung sichtbar peinlich, aber der Wirt liess sie mir erklären, dass der Wurstsalat auch für den Preis (13,70 € !) ok sei. Man sieht, mit dem Renommier Namen Dauth Schneider geht jeder Nepp durch. Eine Schande für das herrliche Sachsenhausen.

I was a little disappointed that when I ordered there was no typical German dish and that the apple wine was a little more watered down than normal. I have tried them in other places in the area and it was much better. The dishes We ordered well in general, typical food too but I was expecting something more elaborate. Nice and picturesque yes, it is great at the outside tables.

Eppelwoi... In Sachsenhausen, there is always a little... too much tourism

Went there to taste the cider, the delicacies from Frankfurt that were included were okay, and we saved on the bread. The Apfelweil tasted of nothing (it had probably been diluted beforehand), as well as cobwebs in the inner beer garden on the ceiling and mouse traps on the floor. Don't come back. The staff was friendly but had no interest in serving.

We had three waiters. A woman served us fine. The man following took away spices and plates from us DURING THE DINNER! away. Frankfurt schnitzel (pork) is served with green sauce and potatoes (18.3 euro) Also ordered 1 pint beer. All is 23.8 euro (without tip). Loved the outdoor tables 🌸 area is very nice.

Unfortunately, the food was more appearance than reality: the side salad wasn't good at all and some of it was "wilted" - probably everything had been sitting around for a while? The taste of the cordon bleu was average, but the fried potatoes were burnt. When it came to the sour spray, we had to ask for more water again - it wasn't tasty before. Overall, the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. Sorry, that was nothing! Finally, the service should be mentioned positively, as it cannot be blamed for the kitchen's failures.

I get the impression that there are more locals than tourists on the south side of the Main River. There were no Japanese people there. According to my German colleague, this is a German restaurant that has been around for about 150 years. The terrace seats were full by 7pm. At this time of year, it's bright even after 9 o'clock, so it's a very lively and nice atmosphere. Both the food and the drinks were very German-style. Specialty? Onee-sama is a little scary.

What a wonderful meal. We were lucky to get seated as most of the tables were saved for reservations. The apple wine (cider) is on the tart side, but that's how I like it. But for me the star of the show is the Frankfurt green sauce. Sour cream and seven herbs and OMG you should eat it oh everything.
