A 10! Throughout! Perfect beer (the helles and the toast), AMAZING ribs! The food was spectacular. The bill went up a little, but of course, for beer alone it was €25...The service was very attentive, always looking to have everything you need, giving good recommendations and at all times with a smile on your face (just that, it's already worth a 10). This one Asian guy asks for a tip and doesn't give tap water even though we got tap water the day before. Props to the other waiter, he put his hair up, he was the most correct

Very nice shop, very nicely decorated and pretty good food, but not enough for the rather high price (in my opinion). So not only was there not enough food, but the waitress was also a bit "pushy" and you got the feeling that you were being "eaten" quickly. It was also relatively loud, which not everyone likes, and there was always a very annoying, very high-pitched noise coming from somewhere. Of course, this is all complaining at a high level and shouldn't stop you from trying good, traditional Bavarian food there (but they also offer a few veggi and vegan dishes).

Traditional restaurant, although we have not had luck with the Schnitzel, both the pork and the beef are very tender but tasteless. Exquisite roast suckling pig (Spanferkel resch gebraten).

The food was absolutely great for the price, the service was very attentive and friendly, and the location had everything from Brauhaus Steil to Gemütlichen Stube. Any time.

Food and atmosphere was okay, it was really hard to get ahold of our waiter and other waiters (understandably) refused to take our order or give our check. The good experience was ruined at the end when the waiter cursed in german at us for not giving a 10% tip which he claimed is the “minimal”, not knowing that we actually speak the language (we do not look German).

They took the sparkling water away and brought regular tap water, but they kept repeating that I had to pay every time they brought something to the table. Even when another staff member tried to explain the situation, it didn’t help. A staff member who spoke good English even explained it to them in German, yet the employee still insisted that I pay. When it was time to pay, I noticed that the bill included the sparkling water I never ordered. I simply wanted to ask about it and said, "I wanna ask you something," but before I could say anything else, the staff member suddenly snatched the receipt, aggressively crumpled it, and threw the card reader at the counter. I was shocked. All I wanted was to clarify the charge, yet the staff member was extremely rude and dismissive. Feeling upset, I raised the issue with someone who appeared to be the manager, but they did nothing about it. Mistakes happen, but treating customers with such hostility and aggression is completely unacceptable. I still don’t understand—why was I charged for the sparkling water when they took it away? Is it this restaurant’s policy to bring unordered items, take them away, and still add them to the bill? Or was I just unlucky to get the wrong staff member?

No para personas con intolerancias/alergias Fui aquí para una cena con colegas y al principio era escéptico acerca de encontrar opciones sin gluten y sin lácteos en un restaurante bávaro. Si bien las opciones eran limitadas, me impresionó el menú minuciosamente etiquetado que indicaba qué tenía qué, desde gluten hasta lácteos e incluso conservantes y tintes. Después de esto bajé la guardia y ordené salir del menú, escogiendo una de las pocas cosas que no parecían tener gluten o lácteos en el plato. Sin embargo, cuando llegó, mi colega dijo que muy probablemente tenía lácteos. The two of us quickly decided to go to the Franciscan on Sunday after an evening at the National Theater. After we were offered a nice table for two people in the front area, we each ordered a glass of Grüner Veltliner after good advice from a gentleman from the service. Plus a pretzel. The good impression and the courteous treatment by Mr. Zölitz convinced us that we would like to come back after our next visit to the opera and then try something from the extensive selection on the menu. We look forward to the next visit.

I had a great experience at Zum Franziskaner in Munich. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I tried the beef tartare and the traditional white sausages (Weißwurst), both of which were delicious and well-prepared. The staff also recommended a fantastic dark beer that perfectly matched my preferences. The atmosphere was warm and authentic, making it a great spot to enjoy classic Bavarian cuisine. The traditional inn doesn't just offer something to the table for tourists. Here you can find the unofficially best meat loaf in the Free State. Although it has been in the range for a long time, the taxi roll is currently trending thanks to social media and can only be picked up to go straight from the kitchen. For visitors, the Leberkäse is available as a piece on the plate in two variations and three portion sizes with a fried egg and potato salad. And you really have to say that the baked meat pie tastes great. What is particularly important for a Bavarian inn is the tapped barley juice. In addition to the eponymous Franziskaner Weissbier, Löwenbräu is served as a light beer and in other versions by the glass.

A very nice Bavarian restaurant close to the Residenz. The atmosphere is great, the food is good. Prices are affordable.

Entramos para tomar unas cervezas y es un lugar realmente acogedor y para nada turístico. Si no hubiera sido porque ya teníamos una reserva en otro lugar hubiéramos comido alli porque todo tenía un aspecto apetitoso. Nos trataron muy bien y las cervezas fueron excelentes.

Typical tourist restaurant. OK service Ok furnishings, only the door was annoying, the wind was blowing into the restaurant... At least where we were sitting. Obatster was ok. Without being asked, we were given plates for everyone at the table, even though we had only ordered for one.

Zum Franziskaner is an absolute must in Munich! We tried the venison goulash with spaetzle, the Viennese veal schnitzel and the traditional Bavarian platter - everything was excellently prepared and incredibly tasty. 😋 The service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was typically Bavarian and cozy. 🔝 A perfect place to enjoy Munich cuisine and hospitality. We'll definitely be back! 🤗

We were walking around Residenz and Odeonplatz and we went to this place by chance, we didn't eat because we had a reservation at another restaurant but we drank a couple of excellent beers, the atmosphere at noon on Sunday was exceptional, many groups tasting the dishes (especially a soup) and we could see knuckles and a variety of dishes on other tables, the truth is if we hadn't had a commitment at another place we would have eaten there. The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was 10.

I was here with my colleague and project partners. The hosting project partner Infineon has organised the reservation. I have to say, it was a good choice. The restaurant seems to be a classic bavarian one serving bavarian delicious meals. I had haxe which was tasty and bit too much for me. Usual story with haxe. The service was fast. I also noticed that a group of people were enjoying a Karaoke evening there. So, that is also a possibility there. I enjoyed my evening there.

This time it was perfect! When you reserve a table you are going to less louder restaurant-space. So you can enjoy your dinner with kids or family atmosphere !

Bisher war die Weißwurst im Franziskaner eine der besten weit über München hinaus, wir sind seit 40 Jahren immer wieder in diesem Restaurant. Gestern haben wir wieder ein Weißwurst Frühstück gemacht und waren maßlos enttäuscht. Die Konsistenz und der Geschmack sind keinesfalls vergleichbar mit der Qualität, die wir gewohnt waren. Auch der Weißwurst Senf ist nicht mehr süß, sondern hat leider zu viel Säure. Wahrscheinlich ist die Qualität dem Sparzwang zum Opfer gefallen. Bei den Preisen ist das sehr schade. Hoffentlich testet der Chef des Hauses mal selbst!

One of the worst restaurants I have ever visited. Poor food and rude behavior. They overcharged us and when we asked for a receipt they brought us a receipt from a different table.

I repeat myself and nothing has changed. There are white sausages everywhere in Munich, but you can only get white sausages at Franziskaner.

The world's best Leberkäs in Munich, offered here and only here (as far as I know), has its price. Ever since. And is worth it.

Typical place.....excellent meat and beer!

I had lunch here with my family. Even changing the number of guests (online reservation) went completely smoothly. The restaurant in the heart of Munich is also easy to reach by public transport. The rustic atmosphere is pleasant and clean. The dishes we ordered tasted excellent and were generous. The service was friendly, quick and courteous. The prices are also reasonable considering the location. We'd love to come back!

Visited in June 2024. Something like a Weisswurst morning set costs €11.9, but it's probably available until around 11am. I was told it wouldn't be before 11:30, so I ordered a single item. The weisswurst and sauce taste better than the weissbräuhaus. It was heartwarming to see a local person teaching a Japanese tourist who didn't know how to eat white sausage right in front of me. The store staff are grumpy old men. I don't remember much about beer.

Elegimos 2 platos locales - un Munich - estilo schnitzel y queso spätzle. Ambos eran excepcionales. El servicio era encantador, también. Esos dos platos principales, agua mineral y propina era apx. 60 USD. Recomendado.

As Munich residents, we have known and appreciated the "Franziskaner" for decades - now, unfortunately, we have been bitterly disappointed for the second time. All dishes are over-seasoned/over-salted, my soup is served together with the second person's main course, I then only receive my main course in two stages (which is not really understandable with Leberkäs with potato salad) and only when the person opposite has already finished his main course has. The staff whispers behind my back - that doesn't leave a nice impression either, but it leaves a lasting impression. PS: For some time now, both the sweet and the hot mustard have no longer met the quality and taste standards that we were used to from Franziskaner for many years. Very, very unfortunate and disappointing.

Berechnung eines pauschalen Gedecks (für 1 Brezn und ein bisschen Butter), bestenfalls mittelmäßiges Essen und als Knaller wurde das Wasser für den Hund berechnet. Right in the center of Munich. You sit very well. The service was friendly and competent. Beer and food were very tasty. We had meatballs from the daily menu. There was a large selection of them. Perfect for us. We would come back here at any time. Thank you for a few lovely hours!

You like to play the role of the first house in the place - and you only live up to it to a limited extent: Decent tavern food - the pork knuckle is crispy, the fillet is crispy, the veal cheeks are tender, but the sauces are primarily salty and too thick, which is why they follow the bad habit of pre-mixing the tartare and over-seasoning it to give the guest a bouquet in the classic way Serving side dishes with pure beef doesn't make sense given the price of 23 euros. And the fact that my mother, who has walking difficulties, was forced to walk up several stairs with a walker instead of opening the back door when asked is simply inconsiderate and justifies the poor service rating. With a little more respect for the age and an adjustment of the culinary performance to the pricing, a significantly better rating would certainly be possible.

Bavarian ambience for day tourists! If you want to treat yourself to some Bavarian ambience after or between window shopping at Cartier or Tiffany's, this is the right place for you. In terms of cuisine, the kitchen reaches its limits in terms of quality due to the large number of guests and the number of dishes. Sometimes fantastic, sometimes not so tasty or cold... it's best to go with the classics. They are usually always great.

Huge restaurant, very popular, full of tourists but really nice. It extends in half a block and has seating areas in two different streets. The extension of the second one is the posh beautiful Maximilian avenue. We loved the atmosphere at the back part, where we sat by the window next to a beautiful lamp and could watch the snow falling.

While serving, a waiter touched me several times in a row. He also jokingly offered my food to share. I couldn't say "no" in the group. And felt compelled to share. The food was good but expensive. The online menu had cheaper prices than the on-site menu.

The overall dining experience is bad. Food is generally salty, we’ve ordered the signature sausages and the dry aged beef steak, highly NOT recommended to order. The service is also not satisfactory. DO NOT recommend this restaurant!

My husband and I had dinner at this restaurant last night and we both had the schweinehaxe. When the meal arrived the schweinehaxe was very hard and dry. Unfortunately not long after returning to our hotel we both became extremely ill with food poisoning. Violent vomiting , diarrhoea, abdominal pain and severe headaches lasting all night and into today. In fairness I have emailed the restaurant Re this and advising they need to improve their food hygiene The other couple with us had different meals which were average at best and thankfully didn’t become ill.

We went there for lunch in a group of 4. We didn't have a great meal but we didn't have a bad meal either. The service okay, not super but not terrible either. The prices are slightly high compared to the overall quality of everything.

Considering the center of München, the price is readonable. Although service could be felt little bit blunt, there was no problem with selecting the menu and beer in english. For food, Grilled wurst was nice and Schweinhaxe was normal. But the “unfiltered Franziskaner kellerbier” was the one of a kind. It’s worth a visit to enjoy their beer.

This year we were disappointed with the food. The portions were very small and carelessly prepared, and too expensive for that.

Service was overwhelmed, no overview. In the end there were 4x3.90 € on the bill for things that we hadn't ordered. It was supposedly the pretzels and dips that we received at the beginning. We thought how nice and attentive, but in the end we were punished and charged. Very cheeky 😩

We had four persons eatinng a snack here. The restaurant had a nice bayerish atmosphere which we greatly enjoyed.

Family dinner at the Franziskaner - especially for the older ones, a reminder of earlier, beautiful days there. Reservation and the table in the Fuchsenstube worked great. Unfortunately, things went a bit downhill after that. The service was alone and therefore stressed - i.e. long waiting times to order and reorder. Despite there being plenty of space around the table, we were still allowed to prepare and distribute everything ourselves, from napkins to drinks. That might have been okay if the food wasn't only partially good. Leberkäs and tartare were great as ever. But the Swabian Pfanderl meat was definitely too hard because it was dry and wasn't enjoyable. And the meatball on the gourmet plate was pressed into such a shape that it could have been a close relative of the Chicken McNuggets and the plate itself was the opposite of nicely presented. Conclusion: Franciscans, yes, but prefer only white sausages, meatloaf and tartar.

Before we were just stared at silently and continued to be ignored despite repeated requests to order... two wrong dishes were delivered to the table. Luckily the food tasted very good. Large traditional inn, relatively loud and rather uncomfortable because the waiters constantly had to squeeze through the back of the chair. The food was a disappointment, beautifully prepared but it was all very dry and tasteless. Price ok for Munich. Will not visit this inn again.

I rarely rate restaurants poorly because I always think that mistakes can happen. But what we experienced in the Franciscan was truly a disaster. How the restaurant can have a 4.2 rating was really a mystery to us! Yesterday, on a Saturday, we had dinner as a couple. The husband ordered the cordon bleu from the weekend menu with cucumber and potato salad and a portion of extra fries. He got a veal schnitzel without salad but at least with fries. The reason for this was that the weekend ticket was not valid today. The waitress must have forgotten to mention that... my husband reluctantly and offended ate the schnitzel, which he didn't want... I ordered grilled duck with potato dumplings and apple red cabbage. I got the dumpling and the apple red cabbage, but also half a grilled chicken... we were very frustrated here. Nobody got the food they ordered. Almost the best on the bill. We had to pay for the salad that my husband didn't get, pointing out that it was missing and I deducted the 5.50 that the extra salad would cost. The only answer I got from the waitress was that she had to pay for it out of her pocket and that's how she could do it don't take off. But then we have to pay for their mistake? And not that it was the only mistake, apart from that... The evening was a complete disappointment!

Great atmosphere, good service in both German and English (we might have been in the English speaking corner), but the food was mixed. The Christmas duck was all ok but taste average and the goose seemed to have been kn the grill for a whole and even the taste wasn't that good. The sides where good. To be fair the waiter was checking in but I let it go and eat just a bit. I have to say over prior visits 2/3 years ago I also had very good experiences

Average restaurant. Food is good but mine was too salty. It feels like the "big industry" restauration not a nice homey feeling. Waiters chat loudly complaining on all sorts of matters. Not bad to grab something to eat but that's all.

We had reserved a table because during the Christmas market period it is very crowded. Indeed, it was packed. The waiter was very friendly and the food was very good. Prices are a bit higher than other wineries, but it's worth it. We advise.

There was a stone in the salad, the venison slices were tough and the onion roast was full of cartilage and tendons. Last but not least, the tablecloth was pulled away while we were sitting there because they now have to cover it. All in all, a negative experience that you won't have again.

We were here with our regulars for a morning pint, i.e. wheat beer, white sausage, mustard and pretzels. We were very satisfied! Everything was very tasty and of course it wasn't just a wheat beer ;-). The waiter was extremely friendly, accommodating without being intrusive and everything that was ordered was on the table in a short time. Highly recommended. Of course it's not exactly cheap due to the great location, but it's definitely worth a visit!
