Very nice restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food

It was incredibly crowded, but we managed to get a seat outside. The food was delicious, and the service was very attentive.

The restaurant is typically German, just as you'd expect from a tourist. The staff was friendly. The food was excellent, and there were several vegan options. There are only large tables that seat about eight people. The liquor list is very extensive. The beer is excellent. "Die dicke Sophie" is absolutely worth a visit.

The food was absolutely inedible. I had the worst onion roast of my life today at Dicke Sophie. About 100 grams of thin, rubbery meat, covered in an enormous amount of dried onions. The fried potatoes were very chopped and looked like they were leftovers from other guests. The taste was questionable. And all that for a price of €29.60. You can probably get better food at a remote gas station than here. As I was leaving, I checked who was in the kitchen, and it became clear to me that you couldn't expect good food there. It was certainly my last time at this restaurant. You can't even have a conversation in this place when it's full, due to the noise.

Beautiful inn, very friendly service, very tasty

The food at the "dicke Sophie" is delicious, as is the beer from the Ayinger private brewery. We sometimes had to wait a bit for service, but this could have been due to the number of guests. The restaurant is an authentic Munich beer garden, and I always enjoy coming back! Those of you who enjoy a "Stamperle" (a type of beer) will certainly enjoy the extensive liquor menu.

A very nice restaurant in Johanneskirchen, always worth a visit. The food is fantastic, the service is incredibly friendly and prompt, and you can find a place to eat whatever the weather. In addition to the outdoor area, there's a covered area and a sort of winter garden. The prices are fair. I'd be happy to go back!

Everything is great, the Schwabenpfanderl is a dream

We've been here several times over the past ten years, and the food has always been very good. The only drawback is probably the accessibility, which could be improved a bit – especially in the beer garden. We still enjoy coming back.

A very nice beer garden located on the outskirts of Munich, offering an authentic atmosphere! There's a wide selection of different dishes, from hearty snacks to salads and burgers. The meals are also generous and very reasonable by Munich standards! Service is fast, but sometimes it's difficult to keep track of things, which is understandable given the number of guests.

Unfortunately, 5 out of 15 people experienced vomiting and severe stomach cramps during the night.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, the service and the staff were top-notch. It's a small inn with a beer garden. It's really great; if we're ever in Bavaria again, we'll eat here again. Everything was delicious, but the steamed dumpling blew me away.

Truly fantastic food. I've rarely had such a good Wiener Schnitzel. The ambiance inside could be a bit more cozy; I find it rather cold/uninviting. However, it's really nice outside; I like sitting there :D The service is average, helpful, and mostly friendly (as much as a Bavarian can be), but often stressed, so it doesn't get 5 stars. Still, I warmly recommend it; one of the best restaurants in northeast Munich.

What a wonderfully beautiful beer garden with delicious food. Highly recommended in the evenings, in the dark with the lights. Unfortunately, we're too far from Munich, otherwise we'd be there regularly.

Food top. Personnel flop. Ordered, waited over 40 minutes for the food only to be told by the waiter that the dish I ordered was out! Everyone else at the table has already finished eating and there is no sign of me... That's all well and good when there's a lot going on and a lot to do, but that's definitely not competent! NOT WORKING AT ALL! Having to wait a total of over an hour for the food is absolutely unbearable! And at the end we ask if we want to give a tip, we say no and he says why not... Really a disgrace!!!

The food and atmosphere were good, but unfortunately the ladies on site were absolutely listless and had no ambition to offer any service. In my opinion, waiting an hour for food is too much, my friend had to order 3 times to get this comb. In addition, we discovered afterwards that instead of around 90 euros, we were charged 125 euros plus the 10 euro tip. This absolutely must not happen. Unfortunately there's not much you can do here. I can only advise everyone to check the invoice twice or to get a receipt at all. The bill we were charged was the bill from the next table. We won't be stopping by Sophie's again.

Home cooking like grandma's, fair prices and great service.

The food was consistently great, there were four of us and both the main course and dessert were great. The service was perfect and the ambience could do with some work, but the rustic nature of the majority of the beer benches also has its charm. However, I prefer chairs, hence the only three stars on this point.

The food is great, the location is relaxing (even with children), but the service varies greatly - from friendly and professional to incredibly snippy and dismissive. You'll lose your appetite! We actually always tip at least 10% - even if we just pick up the food - but you ask yourself, why? The orders were repeatedly incomplete (then you can also go begging), and otherwise you sometimes meet a waitress who literally snorts, sighs and snorts at you in a rude manner. Too bad.

Food price/performance ratio works like this, apart from the fact that a Wiener Schnitzel costs €26.80. However, it is not possible that used paper towels are scattered from the toilet all the way into the guest room and have not been removed! The interior of the restaurant is very loud, caused by the staff. We as guests found this very disturbing!

It's best to come here on a sunny, warm day. There is a beautiful, large beer garden with hearty, delicious food. The Cordon Blue was juicy and a good portion, the potato salad was probably bought but refined with cucumber and Radissal. Roast pork is juicy and tender with a flavorful sauce. If you're looking for a nice beer garden with delicious food, you're in good hands here.

A dream of main course and dessert

Rustic, beautiful inn with a small beer garden The Fat Sophie is what you would expect as a pub in Bavaria. The menu is full of delicacies and so far we haven't had a dish that was objectionable. Highlight in summer: When the weather is nice, the grill is turned on in the beer garden... great. The quality and the location itself are no longer an insider tip and therefore a reservation makes more than sense.

Was with colleagues in this Byrian inn - very satisfied. The food was typically Bavarian and the price/performance ratio was okay. Plus a variety of beers from Aying.

Service: The staff is always friendly and usually available for a little small talk. Flexible and solution-oriented even in the event of short-term changes in the number of people or similar. That's how it should be. Ambience: Typical tavern interior. Very appropriately implemented. Unfortunately there are no backrests on the benches. That would improve comfort even more. Conclusion: Bavarian inn with a beer garden and authentic cuisine. Not overcrowded and no mass processing. Absolute recommendation for a Bavarian restaurant experience.
