Gentrified Bavarian Beer Pub in the center of the university quarter. The food is good but limited vegetarian options (salad and pasta with cheese), forget veganism. The service is kind and efficient.

We sat on the terrace and had reserved a 2 hour window from 6pm to 8pm. It's very nice to sit in, everything inside has been lavishly renovated with wood. The food was delicious and the drinks were varied, but unfortunately extremely overpriced. Just the half for €6.10 is already steep. For the schnitzel for €35 to take away, the portion was very clear and, for example, there was no lemon.

Sat with a few friends in the really cozy beer garden, for me one of the most beautiful in the city! The food is always really good there! Whether it's the fried chicken salad, the half pork knuckle, the snack board or the burgers... everything is perfect! The staff very friendly and accommodating. Always worth a visit!

Nice and quiet beer garden. However, 20.50 euros were charged for 1x Aperol Spritz and 1x white wine spritzer, mind you if it was self-service.

Very nice location in the middle of Munich. We were there for dinner and I had the crusty roast with two kinds of dumplings and dark beer sauce. Afterwards I had Kaiserschmarrn, both very tasty. The service was super friendly and quick and the atmosphere was really cozy. Prices are high but you also get something for your money. Gladly again!

Wir waren zu mehreren im Biergarten. Der Biergarten liegt schön und ruhig im Herzen Schwabings. Angenehme Atmosphäre. Bierpreise sind hoch, aber für die Lage noch ok. Nur die Preise und die Qualität der Speisen passt nach meiner Ansicht nicht mehr zusammen. Backhendl mit Kartoffel-/Vogerlsalat für 16,90€, der Kartoffelsalat aber wie aus der Metro Großpackung (einfach nur sauer) und die Backhendlstücke wohl tiefgefrorenes Fertigprodukt mit sehr hohen Panadeanteil. Nicht gut!

In terms of taste, a good roast with a delicious beer sauce and good dumplings. Both the coleslaw and the sauce are well seasoned with caraway seeds. The schnitzel is well baked and tastes good. The Kaiserschmarrn was okay, but I've had better. The ambience inside is very stylish and sets itself apart from classic pubs. The service was quick and courteous. The only thing that is a little pungent is the smell in the dining room due to the open kitchen. I would come again

Nice menu in the inn with a shady terrace in the middle of very tall chestnut trees. The beer garden fills the rest of the courtyard. The prices are a bit high for us country bumpkins. The roast pork looked very nice. The pepper dishes lack some garlic and herbs. Add a few drops of balsamic vinegar to the roast beef. The salads a little too little tomato and cucumber. The grilled goat cheese had a touch too little kick. Huge platter of ham. Big Obatzda. If you like Bavarian food reduced to the essentials, this is perfect for you. Honest German cuisine. Good home-baked bread and pretzels.

When will Maxvorstadt finally get the Max Emanuel brewery it deserves? After the renovation we had all hope and were only disappointed again. The food is still below average, the service is still sometimes rude and the price-performance ratio is not right. The beer garden needs more love and care. I also don't understand why the beer garden only opens at 5 p.m. when the weather is good. Something like that contradicts the unwritten rules of Munich's drinking culture.

A nice trendy brewery. The service was friendly, nice, accommodating. The map is small but nice. We had a small and large Wienerschnitzel. The schnitzel was excellent. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes were cold and dripping with fat. The complaint wasn't a problem, the new fried potatoes arrived immediately in a small bowl. As an apology we each received a Mirabelle Mirabell. This one was excellent. At a price of 27€ and 32€ you can expect other fried potatoes, or even a potato salad. At least the veal schnitzel was worth the money.

Roast pork and apple fritters are better than most other beer gardens offer...

Unfortunately I can't say much about the "beer garden" because it doesn't serve beer at 4 p.m. on a Friday when it's 30 degrees. Sorry but then don't call yourself a beer garden.

Very pretty place since the re-opening. Food has a high quality but prices are clearly too expensive for what you get (20%+). Service is okay but could be much friendlier.

Moderne Einrichtung und sündhaft teure Preise. Wenn ein Viertel (jawohl 1/4) Huhn für 25,- verkauft wird, dann könnte man annehmen, dass es aus Gold ist. Weit gefehlt. Die Preise sind exorbitant hoch und dementsprechend war das Lokal an unserem Abend halbleer und auch das hat uns schon gewundert.

A restaurant with an attached beer garden. There is service in the restaurant including its outdoor area; as usual, you have to get your own food and drinks in the beer garden. The restaurant was renovated a few years ago and I like it much better since then. However, prices have risen significantly; a Wiener Schnitzel costs 30 euros. Everything just becomes more expensive. The outdoor area and beer garden are highly recommended, especially in summer, also because the beer garden is nice and shady.

Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarren were really very good and the conditions were extremely friendly.

The typical Munich Beer Garden atmosphere is nice. It’s self service - so not much to expect. The prices are relatively high, but it’s Maxvorstadt after all. They have vegan options, which is nice, and I went for the vegan main dish. But what stroke me was the price and the portion. It was basically a single middle sized potato filled with a bit of tomato and quinoa, like a teaspoon of each, topped with some vegan cream. That’s the main dish, at 16€ 🤯 That’s just ridiculous compared the to „Haxenburger“ or „Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat“ at similar prices. What to improve: just offer a full vegan dish, make it a real portion. Don’t assume a plant based diet needs less calories. A

What a great place to enjoy some traditional Bavarian food in a trendy environment. Exceptional food by the way, served in a no traditional approach. Trendy decor inside makes this place extra special. Beer garden is small and hidden, but still worth a visit.

We were there with 12 people for a project completion party and really enjoyed our stay in the serviced area. Eating and drinking is always a question of taste, I thought it was good, even if, to the chagrin of a colleague from the north, the pork knuckle was unfortunately only available in the beer garden area.

Great lunch! We were at Max E with 10 people and the food and service were great. The veal cream goulash is a poem and the subsequent Kaiserschmarrn was the crowning glory. The furnishings are very tasteful. Clear recommendation!

A bella scoperta for Monaco, gioiellino always in green. Birra varia e buonissima e tanti piatti. Forse a pó caro ma siamo quasi in centro, si sta. Personale molto attento. / Nice surprise for Munich, little gem in the countryside (=beer garden). The beer is great and there are lots of delicious dishes. Maybe a little expensive but we are almost in the center. The service is very attentive. Great.

Very nice atmosphere, good mix of modern and classic. We were here in a group and tried a few dishes, all of which were very tasty! The absolute highlight was definitely the roast pork! Tender, fresh, great crust. I was excited ! The schnitzel was also very good and a decent portion too! We'd love to come back

Nice beer garden on Nordendstr. Was there many years ago. In the meantime there was a general renovation of the restaurant and beer garden. But it's still very nice.

We had dinner on July 20, 2024. The roast pork was lukewarm and absolutely standard, partly flaxy, no crust. The schnitzel was “manageable” in terms of portion size. The espresso that followed was also lukewarm.

Ich war an einem Wochentag mit Kolleg:innen vor Ort. Wir erhielten einen schön Tisch auf dem Balkon im Freien. Später hatten wir Glück, dass dieser überdacht war, als es relativ spontan anfing ziemlich doll zu regnen. Ich entschied mich für den Salat mit Ziege, welcher aus zwei gebräunten Ziegenkäsetalern bestand sowie zwei halben Scheiben dunkles Brot. Zusätzlich gab es eine große in Portwein geschwenkte Feige. Weder die Kräutercroutons noch die Walnüsse, welcher auf der Karte standen, habe ich gesehen. Danach bestellten wir noch zweimal Kaiserschmarrn für alle. Dazu gab es Zwetschgenröster und Apfelmus, welcher sehr hell aussah. Leider waren bei uns sehr viele angebrannte Stücke in der Pfanne. Der eine mags, der andere nicht. Ich gehöre zu letzterer Kategorie. Zudem hätte der Schmarrn etwas fester sein dürfen. Die Bedienung war auf trapp und freundlich, wenn auch ziemlich gestresst.

Of the different beer gardens in Maxvorstadt, this is my favorite. I tend to go there with colleagues and it's always a good time. The atmosphere is exactly what you want after work, so i recommend it if you work in the area. The food system is efficient and the menu has all the usual suspects from a typical Bavarian beer garden. It's a bit pricey in my opinion but the food is plentiful and some items I really like (like the schnitzel burger, which incorporates the lemon into the breading). This place deserves a special mention during the Euros 2024, for they played the big games and there were screens everywhere in the garden, so you wouldn't miss a thing. That was amazing.

Very nice restaurant + beer garden. The service is super nice and the rooms are chic and modern. The price is a little more expensive than other pubs but it's definitely worth it and tastes very good. I recommend Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn

We ate delicious Wiener Schnitzel and Kasspatzln. As well as the Obatzter as a starter. Everything was really delicious. The atmosphere on the terrace was also very nice. The beer garden is located in an inner courtyard with many trees that offer cozy, shady places.

My highlight: the cozy beer garden in the backyard. Otherwise it is very stylishly furnished and also has special, selected dishes on the menu, but unfortunately it is very expensive. A main course costs on average €25. All in all, a great restaurant that I can recommend.

My first restaurant in Munchen. I love the pretzels at dinner. I ordered the fried chicken, and thought 1/4 meant a quarter chicken like in America. I think I got 4 tenders? They were still delish. I did not get the liver, and the potatoes were just ok to me.

I've actually enjoyed coming here for a long time. I really like the backyard beer garden atmosphere under the chestnut trees. Since the renovation and reopening there have been new dishes, the inside has been beautifully renovated and the outside bar is now separate. Unfortunately, the team here was overwhelmed yesterday. Even though it was busy because of the public viewing, I grabbed a beer when there were only a few (seven) people in front of me in line. That took around 15 minutes. We noticed the slow serving team a few weeks ago when there was a lot less going on. The young team seems inexperienced and poorly coordinated - especially in a beer garden this could happen faster. The food went relatively quickly, but the hygienic measures left a lot to be desired. Nobody wears gloves and everything is done with bare hands: cutting spare ribs, assembling burgers, passing plates, etc. Please see it as constructive criticism🙏 I really like the beer garden and hope that with a few tricks you can get the issues addressed under control. Very nicely decorated restaurant Kaiserschmarrn for two people, decent portion and tasty

I've visited several times, but each time the service gets worse and less friendly. Very inflexible, arrogant and simply not customer oriented. No longer worth a visit.

I wasn't 100% percent sure what was going on when I wandered in here. I think there is a restaurant off Adalbertstraße that is attached to the beer garden behind it, but they seem to be somewhat separate entities with respect to hours, menu, etc. I entered the beer garden from Nordendstraße. In any case, the pig knuckle was excellent and I enjoyed sitting outside drinking beer in a laid-back environment. Would highly recommend.

The Max Emanuel Brewery - tavern and beer garden is an absolute insider tip in the city! The beer garden is a wonderful place to enjoy a cold beer when the weather is nice. The beer selection is outstanding and the quality is top notch. It is particularly pleasant that you can also watch football here. The atmosphere is lively and enthusiastic, ideal for football fans who want to watch the game in a friendly atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the inn is just as inviting as in the beer garden. All in all, the Max Emanuel Brewery is the perfect place to drink a beer and enjoy exciting football games. I highly recommend this place!

I had spaetzle and two shandys. I think charging ~30 euros for this is sporty. So we're talking flour, egg, water & salt here. For the same money I could probably have made 3 kilos of cheese spaetzle, even if I had gotten ready-made spaetzle, and they probably wouldn't have been lost in cheese soup. So are your spaetzle made of gold? Or have I somehow overlooked something?

You can have a very expensive meal here with a nice atmosphere and top service.

I'm deducting 2 points because the prices are completely exorbitant and the Kaiserschmarrn was too oily.

Was here for the first time on a Sunday and tried the brunch offer with the family. Unlike what I've known before, here it's a la cart and correspondingly more expensive. Everything tasted great and was ordered and delivered quickly. Unfortunately, the waitresses seemed generally cold and sometimes annoyed/condescending. Ambiance is very nice, as old and new are well combined. Children have their own map, painting supplies and a changing table.

As always, a spectacular place, exceptional decoration and atmosphere, very friendly and professional service, very tasty and recommended food, you can see the quality of the ingredients and the care in each dish. For me, their strong point is the small menu where they put all the effort into each one of them and it is the Wirthaus where you eat the best. You have to try the Kaiserschmarrn!

Nice restaurant, pleasant service, but the most expensive and at the same time most sad cheese spaetzle of my life. With a side salad, which used to always be included, around 23 euros. If only they had been good then: BUT the only ingredient that has a measurable equivalent value, according to the menu, is two types of Allgäu mountain cheese, really only contained in homeopathic doses. The familiar white mushy sauce. No strings of cheese etc. Heart setting costs are definitely less than 2 euros. Salad dressing so bland that half the salad went back. Conclusion: I would like it better and cheaper to come back. The two good Bs.

The fried chicken was really delicious and well prepared. Basically, the restaurant has been beautifully restored, both inside and out. It is certainly also ideal for events.

We only ate here twice. The food tastes good, nothing earth-shattering. However, what we have always noticed negatively here is that the food portions for the majority of the dishes are simply terribly small and expensive. The schnitzel costs around €30 and as a woman you won't be satisfied with the portion. The Obatzter was just a little blob. When you charge such prices for the dishes, you at least expect to be full. We won't come to eat anymore. The price-performance ratio is simply not right here.

We were at Beer garden. Price-performance ratio really isn't justified. Pretzels with Obazda, both very dry. Spareribs completely overcooked in one piece, “sauce” more of a spicy-sweet mush. 5 ribs for just €17.90. Cheeky for this quality. And annoying as you can probably tell….

Price performance is not right front and back. Nice service, I was charged 18 euros for my portion of spaetzle with sauce, which isn't on the menu. (Cheese spaetzle with a bonus - because it couldn't be any other way?? 😮‍💨)

Ambience is okay, but the quality and selection of food has deteriorated greatly. Fried potatoes were extremely fried, the normal pub salad was nothing special. Above all, prices have risen enormously. A simple peppermint tea with a normal tea bag and a small cup for a whopping €4.80!! If it had at least been fresh mint one might have been able to understand the price. A pity!

A brewery of high quality with high class decor and details as well as traditionally dressed and professional and really friendly and welcoming servers. The food is of equally high quality, full of flavors and tasty. We opted for their Weisswurstfrühstück and we were delighted to see they offered a non-meat alternative so everyone could try it. A fun culinary experience trying this before 11:00 according to tradition.

Unfortunately the experience was disappointing. In my opinion the price-performance ratio is not appropriate. A snack board of inferior quality in the size of a child's portion together with a pretzel for 25 euros seems excessive.

And the prices of the dishes compared to the portion sizes are where the fun ends. 20 EUR for a measly sautéed roast? Less filling than a liver casserole. Quality is okay but not particularly great either...except for the small plate and the absurd price. Inflation and VAT...ok. But that's a no-go.

Schönes, modernes Wirtshaus. Perfekte Kombination aus Tradition und Modern. Sehr gute Karte fürs Frühstück. Alle Gerichte haben sehr gut geschmeckt. Portionsgrößen waren genau richtig. Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Ein Besuch ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Das Personal war leider nicht das freundlichste. Wir mussten lange warten bis wir überhaupt die Karten bekommen haben., Getränke wurden erst nach nera halben Stunde serviert und erst dann durften wir das Essen bestellen.. Das Essen an sich war lecker., wir hatten 3 mal den Wiener Schnitzel und einmal den Ofenfrischen Krusterbraten.. Die Portionen waren leider so klein., dass das preis Leistungsverhältnis gar nicht mit dem was angeboten wird passt.!!

The level of recession can only be maintained because there is no distinction between the self-service beer garden and the elevated service area. The prices for the portions are an absolute rip off. A slice of toast with avocado, an egg and fish for over €20!!! If you want to fill up, you'll pay around €80 for a brunch in the beer garden with drinks! No thanks!!!
