The best German food I had by far. Went there in 2022 and made sure to return now and it is still perfect! Best sausages and potato salad ever. Prices are really attractive too.

Typical place, reasonably good food but very heavy. Good beer. Service leaves much to be desired; they were slow to take our order, the table was dirty, and everything arrived late and in poor condition. To top it off, the waiter was rude; knowing Spanish, he pretended not to understand, and then when it came time to ask for a tip, he suddenly started speaking in our language. Obviously, given the poor service and his rudeness at the end, we didn't tip him, and he got angry and dismissed us very rudely.

We went for roast pork at noon this year. I should mention that I've been there before with visitors from America or Northern Germany, and everything was fine, but that was over two years ago. This time, with my husband, it was a disaster. The roast pork had no sauerkraut, the crackling was black and like hard rubber. The two stars are for the quaint location. I will never go there again. I will never recommend it.

This was the only place in Munich that I felt judged for being Asian and wanting to dine in here. We walked in and were acknowledged but never checked on again. We ended up waiting 30 minutes until the elderly woman told us the kitchen was closed. That would have been nice to know 30 minutes ago. Thanks for wasting our time and then basically telling us to get out. Staff is rude and not accommodating.

I stopped in by chance back then. The food is good, traditional fare, the waiter was very funny, and the atmosphere is very cozy. If you're in the area and hungry, why not?

This charming, traditional Bavarian restaurant at the Viktualienmarkt is always a must-visit when I'm back home! The grilled sausages are always fresh off the grill, and the other dishes are also delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is always very warm and welcoming, which is why the restaurant is always so popular. Looking forward to my next visit!

A personal anecdote: I lost my documents here while passing through Munich. A huge thank you to Ben at the counter for putting them aside until I could retrieve them! 👋

We ate at the aforementioned restaurant today. What struck us as particularly negative was that the staff were smoking in the restaurant, despite the non-smoking laws in force in Bavaria (employee: mid-40s, approximately 1.90m tall, blue shirt). When addressed by a colleague, they responded with a shrug and a rolling of the eyes. Despite addressing them, the aforementioned staff continued to smoke in the restaurant. Unfortunately, this completely puts me off my appetite.

We went to the brewery this morning, and unfortunately, the visit was truly disappointing. The service was extremely slow, even though it was barely busy. People were smoking inside despite the clear no-smoking policy, and even after we pointed it out to the waiter, the staff member just kept smoking – completely unprofessional and unpleasant. In addition, our order was brought incorrectly, and the "correction" was rather uncaring. Finally, the restrooms were in very poor condition – dirty and obviously in need of renovation for some time. Overall, a very negative impression. We will definitely not be coming back.

Not quite a tourist trap like other shops in the city

I had an amazing time at Bratwurstherzl, Jimmy suggested me with the Schweinshaxn which was lunch special and his recommendation was brilliant. I was running out of time and some how he served me my meal in just 7 minutes which was fresh and ready. Its a quite place and the ambiance was amazing as well, architectural brilliance since its from the 17th century. Will definitely with Bratwurstherzl again in my next Munich visit. I wish Jimmy and the rest of the staff the very best. :)

Yes, we felt very comfortable here. The atmosphere is traditional Bavarian. The service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, we were served quickly, and he always had time for us, even though it was very busy here at the Viktualienmarkt.

Half the menu was missing, and the waiter was very inattentive, especially ignoring foreigners. He served many people later and brought them their food before us. It took over an hour for 10 crappy sausages to arrive. Overrated, and don't take into account the glowing reviews because it's very easy to fake good ones. Quite racist too, and they stare at women too much.

We had a mediocre experience at this restaurant. There were four of us, and while ordering, one of our friends was on the phone dealing with an emergency. The other two and I were placing the order, all smiles. My friend's call annoyed the waiter to no end; he grimaced, miming my friend, and blew heavily. Once the order was taken, he returned with it. My friend was still on the phone. He slammed his glass on the table several times in a very aggressive manner. I should point out that my two other friends and I were very cheerful and attentive to his service. During the rest of the service, he walked by us, hitting my friends in the head with his tray and his cloth, in such a deliberately comical manner. In short, a very unpleasant waiter, completely unprofessional, and clearly a genuine dislike for tourists. I recommend it if you want to be treated with the slightest disrespect! The only positive aspect is that it's not very expensive...

We were in downtown Munich, and among the various options, I chose the one that seemed less touristy, and we were very pleased! The setting is very quaint, all stone, and it was frequented by locals except us. The menu is limited, as is only right in places that do a few things but do them very well: the schnitzels were delicious, and we also enjoyed the sausages. Their draft beer was good, and the service was very friendly, contrary to what I'd read in some reviews. The bill was also fair for what we ate. A big thumbs up for me!

Took ages to get served. Served by a rude lady who told us no tea or coffee (even though it is on the menu) and we must go somewhere else for that, and proceeded to take our menus away. Only thing nice about this place is the location. We did not have any food and ended up with water 😂.

The worst dining experience. Small food sizes, subpar quality, they said there is only 1 beer type available, despite other customers drinking other varieties, the servers were awful, they rushed us from the beginning, despite the place not closing for another two hours.

I go to Bratwurstherzl every time I'm in Munich. It has a wonderful atmosphere and typical Bavarian cuisine. The food tastes great and the prices are perfectly reasonable. It's a great location near the Viktualienmarkt.

A super nice, quaint restaurant in the center with fair prices and generous portions! The hostess was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and was very good. Vegetarians will also find plenty to eat here. The dumplings in mushroom cream sauce are highly recommended. The spaetzle should also be ordered. I'll definitely be back!

In the old days, beer from a wooden barrel was something special, and of course, the sausages. In my opinion, they've stopped serving raw sausages for a long time, which makes the place interchangeable. On my last visit, the sausages were very pale. Beer from a wooden barrel is only available on weekends.

I only give 5 stars if it's perfect for me. And I would have only given the Bratustherzl 4 stars if it weren't for this waiter. The waiter who served us was attentive but not intrusive, super friendly, accommodating, and funny. The ambiance is beautifully rustic, and the food is good. The prices are fair and affordable for everyone. And my personal favorite is Coca-Cola from gas bottles. We enjoyed it so much that we're already looking forward to our next visit.

Our expectations were completely exceeded. The ambiance, with its brick vault and open grill, was fantastic, but the staff behind the grill would flee if you got too close. The waiters were very snappy and stressed when the place was almost empty! We should have known better… and the food was similarly fresh, unfortunately. The gravy in all the dishes we ordered tasted the same; after questioning, it was confirmed that it was a potato salad that had been bought in. A real shame, a great place. We won't be going back to overcooked food that resembles ready meals.

We have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years and have always been very satisfied. But yesterday we unfortunately had a very bad experience: the waiter was terrible! When we were greeted we coughed at (we really should have left the restaurant by then). The table was dirty (ashtrays full), the drinks were too warm and the food too cold. We didn't get the pretzels we ordered with it, but they were listed on the bill. We had to wait a long time to pay with our card and the waiter actually asked twice if I wanted to leave a tip. For the first time in my life I didn't. It's a real shame about this lovely restaurant, we certainly won't be coming back.

Typical Bavarian family restaurant: a place that is absolutely not touristy, where the love for Bavarian tradition shines through in a very familiar and suggestive context: simple and wonderful! The highlight is the service: very attentive and friendly but above all very nice, always with a smile on their face and ready to entertain every customer! The prices are really great!!! And you can find many dishes and beers that have disappeared in the more commercial places. Highly recommended!!!!

Our waiter was so nice and friendly. He described the food to us so well, in English, and it was wonderful! A traditional German, Bavarian meal. The restaurant looks great as well. I highly recommend this place. The beer was great, too.

Restaurant to avoid. As a group with a reservation, we received a most unpleasant welcome and service. Really unfriendly waiter. Very average menus. Go your way. The rating of 1 concerns the decor and the location, for the rest 0.

In spite of the BAD attitude we received from the server, the food was quite good, though a bit pricey. When we asked if we could sit at a table we were met with a look of sufficiency, that remained throughout the whole dinner (when ordering, when receiving our plates, when said plates were recollected). I would NOT advise tourists to come here, there is an obvious difference in the treatment offered, between locals and people that are not German.

I would honestly not return. We went here simply because we were hungry, our feet hurt, and we were jetlagged and this place had open seats. The beer was great, but it's hard to screw up something that comes from a spout. Honestly a skip, especially when there are much better authentic German cuisine spots all around Munich.

The best restaurant in Munich in a very central area and yet not at all touristy. Family atmosphere, with mostly local people where you can eat very well with honest prices despite the proximity to the Viktualienmarkt and Marienplatz. Excellent draft beer. The menu includes a choice of a few fixed dishes with a choice in the daily menu handwritten exclusively in German but the waiters are always ready to help with translation. In short, whatever you are looking for to eat, you can find it here and it is carefully prepared on the spot.

The other smoking waitress then snapped at us because we supposedly put the chair and stroller in the way. Nos pregunta por la bebida nada más, la comida debe ser que se le pasó preguntar. Fueron rápidos en traernos todo. Lo único salvable del restaurante. La comida vino la mitad helada, el resto, bien. Aunque para mi gusto, el filete estaba demasiado duro. Aún así, no dejan de ser gustos personales. No había terminado yo de comer cuando ya había desbarasado la mesa entera. Me parece de una falta de educación tremenda. No habían pasado ni 5 minutos y ya se había vuelto otra vez a quitarnos el cenicero y el tarro donde guardan el ketchup y la mostaza. A la tercera vez y en menos de 10 minutos, y con comida en mi plato, se vuelve a pasar a retirarlo. Coge el plato y pregunta si se lo puede llevar. Debe ser que tenía prisa porque nos fuésemos. Tanta prisa que tenía porque nos fuésemos y luego tuvimos que pasar nosotros a pedirle la cuenta porque no salía ningún camarero. Aquí llega la gota que colmó el vaso. Después de un trato lamentable, tiene la cara de exigir una propina. La cuenta eran 74.90€, más que suficiente por 3 cervezas, 1 Coca-Cola y 4 individuales que me los puedo hacer yo en casa y quedan bastante mejor. Mi respuesta fue si, cóbrame 75€. A ver si encima después de sentir que sobro en el restaurante, tengo que agradecértelo. Te ríes de mí? Adelante. La próxima vez que quieras hacerlo, asegúrate de que tu cliente no hable alemán. Eso si, aprende a dar primero un servicio en condiciones. Tanto te molestan los españoles? Quizá deberíamos enseñarte a atender una mesa en condiciones. Zufälligerweise wollte er zuerst einen deutschsprachigen Tisch bedienen, der sich kurz nach uns hingesetzt hatte. Zufällig… darf es nicht sein. Er hat uns nur nach den Getränken gefragt, er hat wohl vergessen, nach dem Essen zu fragen. Sie haben uns alles schnell gebracht. Das einzige, was es wert ist, am Restaurant gerettet zu werden. Das Essen kam halb gefroren an, der Rest war in Ordnung. Allerdings war das Steak für meinen Geschmack zu zäh. Dennoch handelt es sich hierbei immer noch um persönliche Vorlieben. Ich war noch nicht mit dem Essen fertig, als ich bereits den ganzen Tisch abgeräumt hatte. Ich glaube, es liegt an einem enormen Mangel an Bildung. Es waren noch nicht einmal 5 Minuten vergangen und er war bereits zurückgekommen, um unseren Aschenbecher und das Glas mit Ketchup und Senf wegzunehmen. Beim dritten Mal und nach weniger als 10 Minuten und mit Essen auf meinem Teller kommt er zurück, um es wegzunehmen. Er nimmt den Teller und fragt, ob er ihn mitnehmen darf. Er muss es eilig gehabt haben, dass wir gingen. Er hatte es so eilig, uns gehen zu lassen, und dann mussten wir zu ihm gehen und ihn nach der Rechnung fragen, weil kein Kellner kam. Und jetzt kommt der Tropfen, der das Fass zum Überlaufen bringt. Nach solch einem schrecklichen Deal hat er die Frechheit, ein Trinkgeld zu verlangen. Die Rechnung belief sich auf 74,90 €, mehr als genug für 3 Bier, 1 Coca-Cola und 4 einzelne Becher, die ich mir zu Hause selbst zubereiten könnte und die viel besser wären. Meine Antwort war: „Ja, berechnen Sie mir 75 €.“ Mal sehen, ob ich mich bei Ihnen bedanken muss, nachdem ich das Gefühl hatte, im Restaurant nicht gebraucht zu werden. Lacht ihr mich aus? Nach vorne. Wenn Sie dies das nächste Mal tun möchten, stellen Sie sicher, dass Ihr Kunde kein Deutsch spricht. Das ist richtig: Lernen Sie zunächst, einen anständigen Service zu bieten. Stört Sie das Spanische so sehr? Vielleicht sollten wir Ihnen beibringen, wie man richtig bedient.

Visitamos este restaurante tradicional porque estaba cerca y nos sorprendió gratamente la experiencia. Probablemente éramos los únicos turistas allí. Paredes cubiertas con lo que parecían ser retratos familiares. Nuestras comidas eran buenas y el servidor atento. Disfrutamos de nuestra auténtica comida alemana y era tan conveniente para nosotros que volvimos en otra noche al final de nuestras vacaciones.
