Had dinner there yesterday. The dishes are delicious. The staff is not very attentive and the boss doesn't make you feel welcome

Service very nice and hospitable! Apparently people work with each other with a lot of humor. Schäufele was also very good, the side salad could have been a little spicier... but that's complaining at a high level! Try it, I'll be back!

Jute day once. I was at the store today, August 24th, 2024, at around 9 p.m. So in itself more than enough time to entertain. However, the woman was really unfriendly. Thought I was an ID forger, which I found very offensive. She also reacted really unpleasantly to my €100 note, which was also very questionable. And when I asked about the Kärwa, she rolled her eyes and answered very aggressively, which was also very confusing. But the very delicious beer saved the shop again, which is why I would still recommend the shop. You have to know.

Very nice serving staff. Nice traditional restaurant. Great Schäufala and always incredibly good spare ribs with chicken wings and onion rings on Fridays. Schnitzels are incredible portions.

We ended up here through the voucher book - but it is no longer accepted as the restaurant is under new management. The food was great and the service was really attentive and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the portions are filling. Interesting menu, e.g. delicious bratwurst shish kebab. We are happy to have ended up here (would never have found our way here without the Schlemmerblock) and will definitely come back ☺️

We were really looking forward to an evening in the restaurant, especially because we wanted to use the gourmet block. Unfortunately, we found out on site that the restaurant no longer accepts the Schlemmerblock. This information was not available anywhere in advance, which was extremely annoying as we had to travel all the way to eat there. We then literally found ourselves in front of closed doors because we went to eat somewhere else under these circumstances. It's really disappointing that the restaurant doesn't clearly communicate such changes. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it and we will choose other options in the future….

We are disappointed. Before, this restaurant was a real insider tip. After a change of tenant, the restaurant absolutely went into decline. There is only a very small menu. Ordered food was delivered incorrectly, good was corrected quickly. After our party of four had finished eating and we had all agreed on dessert, the waitress kept walking past us. There was also no question as to whether everything was OK. So service was sparse or non-existent. And there wasn't much going on. On a Sunday there were only 6-7 tables occupied (with 2-3 people and our table for 4). As a tip: If someone still owns the Schlemmerblock 23/24 with this restaurant, the voucher will not be accepted due to the change of tenant. It's a shame that everything has slowed down so much.

We used to go to the old forester's lodge very often, and I even spent lunch there on my civil wedding anniversary with my closest family circle. On July 16th I then reserved a table for two people in the courtyard for Saturday (my birthday) using the answering machine. When I called today to ask about the reservation because my appointment had not yet been confirmed, the Eastern European employee simply said bluntly, "We don't even make reservations in the courtyard" and that the inside is reserved for me and if I'm lucky, I'm allowed outside sit. I wanted to say that I would think about it again, but the lady just hung up without saying goodbye. With behavior like that, I would rather get rid of my money somewhere else. Apparently there is no need to be friendly anymore.

Great cozy restaurant to feel good. I can recommend it with a clear conscience. I can't confirm the bad recessions. The food was perfect. It couldn't have been prepared and presented better. NO FOOD BLOCK We came for dinner on a Saturday lunchtime without making a reservation. Before we ordered we were told straight away that gourmet blocks were no longer possible. The service was very attentive and quick. We ordered 3 different dishes, all of which were average but nothing special. I feel like it's been fried a lot. There were 4 different vegetarian dishes, including 2 vegan ones. We paid around €20 per person for a drink and main course.

We ate in this "restaurant" and I have to say, people rarely manage to disappoint and dismay me so well. This shop is more like a kindergarten trying to play restaurateur. The service, especially the boss, obviously don't have much idea of ​​what they're doing. With 10 guests in the store, the kitchen staff are massively overwhelmed and start shouting, which also turns the mood in the store into a negative one. Everywhere in the restaurant, the owners' children are running around or sitting at the front door and have to sit quietly on their cell phones. The food was as good as the rest, the schnitzel was thicker than a steak and just as dry, the Schäufele was probably warmed up three more times and then served, most of the salads and the like were either tasteless or over-seasoned. Even though there are only 10 people in the store, you wait more than 45 minutes for food, and that for every course. We actually thought that if you got a good rating you could do something, but as we found out afterwards, most of the reviews come from friends and family members. Oh well, all you can say about this store is thank you but no thank you.

Was there with the family, and to put it briefly: food that didn't taste good, with extra long waiting times, you would have starved to death three times. The meat was tough and we didn't even want to give the rest of the schnitzel to our dog at home. At the same time, the staff seemed so unhappy about working here, I can hardly imagine what the climate is like behind the scenes. Definitely won't be a second time.

So if I could, I wouldn't want to give it a star. Very rude staff. First you wait forever for your food and then it is served cold. Not a second time. And let's not even talk about all the flies in there.

We paid €44.99 for this gourmet block, which includes a voucher for a main course in the Zum alten Forsthaus restaurant. The validity is until December 1st, 2024. The inn did not accept the voucher for your hotel. I just call something like that fraud.

A nice great surprise on a short bike tour. Not only the beer garden is lovely but also the interior is cosy and and nice. Very attentive staff, nice vegetarian options and tasty desserts. They have a really nice cauliflower schnitzel which I highly recommend.

We used to be guests at the Altes Forsthaus often and with pleasure, even with friends and family. Our last visit under new management was all the more disappointing. I also contacted H. Jeffrey Brown directly by email and described our impressions, but so far I haven't received any response, hence this approach. This is how our visit went: The Schlemmerblock voucher was not accepted, the service staff pointed out that this was also on the Internet. Immediately checked and pointed out that there was nothing there - no, it was there. There is still no clue there! We stayed anyway because we were looking forward to delicious food. My meal, salmon with asparagus, was so-so, asparagus was too cooked and fibrous. My husband's schnitzel was very large, but consisted mostly of breading, which was also very dark. The schnitzel was correspondingly dry, although the breading tasted unpleasantly greasy. When paying, my husband told the waitress this, but she just "laughed at him". We've never had so much ignorance and stupidity. The old forester's house will never see us again. Note to H. Brown: it's a real treat when the name Jessica Brown appears in the new reviews. Who can that be, wife, mother, sister or other relative? Word of mouth is much more effective.

We were on the way back from our motorcycle tour from Upper Austria and had a delicious meal there on May 13th, 2024. The Schäuferle with dumpling and salad is simply brilliant. Unfortunately very disappointed without a happy ending. We waited forever for the food. Then 2 of the 4 dishes came. 2 dishes were finished, even though we ate slowly, and then the 2 more came. If it had at least been tasty, it would still be acceptable. Unfortunately, the food was so incredibly bad that I can't say I've ever had such a bad meal. And my motivation to evaluate came at home when all 4 people had to run to the toilet. Therefore unfortunately 0 stars (unfortunately also for the service).

Had schnitzel and cordon bleu. The cake is a delight. The price-performance ratio is TOP. The service is attentive, friendly and quick. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

We just came there by chance and were extremely impressed by the quality and the price. The service also left nothing to be desired. So, we can only recommend the Altes Forsthaus if you have a taste for good, honest cuisine. We will be back definitely.

Was eating a theater evening there, such a bad meal for so much money, I haven't had it in a long time. Dumplings warmed up roast veal €18 miserable schnitzel dry and thin f. €16

I knew the place from before and was a little surprised by how cold it was. Not just the ambience, it was also really cold in the place. Food was good and the service too. Went there with the voucher book and found out that they were closing next week and a new tenant was coming.

Die Bedienung sorgte für einen heimischen Service... das Essen direkt von den Mädels aus der Küche serviert und ebenso voll nett... Bitte so beibehalten...hab ganz vergessen mich dafür nochmal extra zu bedanken... ...nun zum Essen... wir hatten Karpfen... super 😋 lecker...oh, was meine Mama und Tochter hatten fällt mir gerade nicht ein, doch die Reaktion... wollen wir baldmöglichst doch unseren Besuch hier im Zollhaus wiederholen, zum plauschen und 😋 leckeren Speisen... Tipp... reservieren ist empfehlenswert Nochmals wirklichen Dank an das ganze Team... 🫂

Weihnachten alles sehr voll, man musste anstehen um rein zu kommen. Ohne Reservierung hat man kein Chance aber an den Feiertagen ist das ja normal. Personal aber trotz mega Stress freundlich. Essen war auch sehr gut.

Wir waren mit dem Schlemmerblock (Gutscheinheft) dort und waren positiv überrascht. Viele Bedienungen, alle freundlich und aufmerksam und absolut auf Zack. Das Essen war innerhalb von 20min fertig und sehr lecker! Wir kommen wieder!

Es war voll - Essen in zwei Zeitfenster (11.00 Uhr und 13.00 Uhr). Bei jeder "Schicht" volles Haus aber gut organisiert.

Waren gestern beim Mittagessen, mal wieder nach vielen Jahren im Zum Alten Forsthaus. Ich hätte sehr gerne ein Schäufele bestellt, leider gab es zu keines mehr, hätte man vorbestellen müssen. War schon etwas enttäuscht, hatte mich so darauf gefreut. Habe dann eine gek. Ochsenbrust gegessen, das Fleisch war Butterweich, geschmacklich der absolute Hammer!!! Habe das Karpfenfilet probiert, super lecker! Auch der restlichen Familie hat es sehr gut geschmeckt, der Rehbraten hat auch sehr gut ausgeschaut! Nächstes Mal werden definitiv Schäufele vorbestellen. Preis-Leistung super! Kann ich sehr weiterempfehlen!! Das Essen war der absolute Hammer, sehr lecker!!! Wir kommen wieder!

Essen war sehr gut, super freundliche Servicekraft. Ambiente so wie es halt in einer Fränkischen Wirtschaft ist, einfach aber gemütlich.

Die positiven Erfahrungen vom letzten Mal konnten nicht wiederholt werden. Meine Frau hatte Schnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat. So wie die Schnitzel aussahen und schmeckten waren das convenience Produkte. Meine Rinderleber war extrem weich und schwammen quasi in der Soße, aber die Bratkartoffeln waren gut.

Typisch fränkische und freundliche Bedienung, keine langen Wartezeiten. Das Schnitzel war frisch aus der Pfanne, die Kruste vom Spanferkelbraten wirklich knusprig! Super lecker. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Es ist ja nicht so einfach, am Sonntag Nachmittag zwischen 14 und 17 Uhr eine traditionelle Speisegaststätte mit warmer Karte zu finden. Hier war die Kartezwar etwas reduziert , jedoch mit fränkischen Klassikern wie Schäufele und einige Bratenvariationen. Sehr zuvorkommende Servicekraft, fantastischer Braten, schöne Bierauswahl und gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Einfach Klasse.
