A typical historic restaurant in Nuremberg, as soon as you cross the threshold you will find a warm, welcoming atmosphere that takes the customer back to times gone by: furnished mainly with wooden furniture, it offers several place settings in a single room on the ground floor, overlooking the embers where the sausages are cooked, other places to sit on the upper floor and outside! The menu offers various typical dishes, appetizers, soups, but the sausages reign supreme. The Guilder Star has been through difficult times. During the Corona and vaccination dictatorship, the owner died suddenly and unexpectedly. Unlike most Nuremberg bratwurst kitchens, the Gulden Stern faithfully fed us corona deniers. For a while, anyway. Then the lack of money apparently struck and the family had to rearrange their life plans. The Gulden Stern closed before the end of the Corona dictatorship. When he opened again, there was rotten meat in the Nuremberg sausages. They tasted intensely of mold and caused painful diarrhea. After a few years, all of this has now been overcome. You get quality meat again, and the service is direct and perfect as always. Only the prices are a third higher - without any additional service. Recommendation for starters: “Two things” with potato salad(!) and horseradish(!). Please take the separate ordering of the side dishes seriously. Sauerkraut without everything is no good. Tip: The industrial potato salad wins if you mix in a large spoonful of mustard.

Very lovely and picturesque restaurant, and the oldest bratwurst restaurant in Nuremberg too. I had lunch here on a Monday and the service was fast. The bratwurst there were the tastiest I had in Nuremberg. I ordered the homemade plum parfait which was some kind of frozen plum ice cream, and I didn’t really enjoy it. Recommended.

Showed up spontaneously and they had a spot for us (2). Fast service, great food (local meat specialities) and amazing atmosphere. The plate looks small-ish at start, but some dishes are sizeable (number of sausages) and it stuffs 🤤

If you want to taste local flavors and beer with the best tsundere service. However, it's not worth visiting unless you're someone who enjoys unfriendly waiters and unreasonable extortion of tips. The food is average.

If you want craftsmanship, tradition and taste combined, you have to go here. The atmosphere is rustic, historic, cozy. The food is traditional and delicious. The waitress gave us a place, even though we "snowed in" with 6 people without a reservation. Prices are certainly a bit higher, but justified.

This was a very unpleasant dining experience. There were actually a lot of empty seats in the restaurant. The waiter arranged for me in a corner position, and I couldn't even fully extend my arms. Then when ordering, when I had already waved my hand, he went to the table where the dishes had not yet been decided and asked, and then came to my place. The dishes were like a disaster, and the saltiness was super high. There was even some half-rare meat, and there was even dregs in the apple juice. The most disappointing thing was that I had already ordered a drink. Because the service attitude was really disappointing, I didn’t want to leave a tip. Then the greedy waitress even took back the credit card machine when I chose to order the nein button, and asked me Warum Nicht! Since I really don’t want to bother, I gave 5%. I have eaten in this restaurant three times. Only this time, the quality of the food and service was a disaster, especially the Warum nicht. I think customers should have the freedom to choose whether to tip or not, instead of the waiter pressuring the customer to tip. Let me put it bluntly, the beggars on the street are all kneeling to ask for money, but your waiter requires the customer to kneel and tip! This unpleasant experience has greatly ruined the good impression of dining at this restaurant the previous two times. Therefore, if you read the reviews and want to find a place with good service attitude and quality, please look elsewhere!

A traditional Nuremberg sausage restaurant with average service, slightly smaller portions and high prices. You can feel the historical atmosphere in the store! My favorite is the sauerkraut, which is specially made and very delicious. The sausage is very salty and needs to be eaten with other things. In the cold weather, it’s good to have a bowl of hot soup. The soup is good! The toilet is huge!

Very good food, the bratwursts are fried over a wood grill and there is sauerkraut with bacon. The inn is cozy and rustically furnished and is considered the oldest bratwurst kitchen in the world.

The space is amazing. We were greeted by a very kind girl and she showed us to our table which we had reserved since the previous day. The moment we were seated, we were approached by the unsmiling owner who not only did not say good evening, but instead told us that the seats are reserved for others. Do they not agree with each other? We explained to him that we have a reservation and that the girl showed us our seats. And then he rudely told us that in one hour we should be gone. The kind girl approached us again, they said something to each other and she led us to the upper empty floor. Of course, our mood was spoiled by the unacceptable behavior of the owner. We devoured the mediocre food in 45 minutes and left. Never again! We went with joy and left with irritation.

Here you can find the best bratwursts in downtown Nuremberg, the price is also completely reasonable in comparison, bratwursts come fresh from the grill (beech wood fire), very good sauerkraut, good pretzels

The food is delicious, and the service is attentive and fast. The place is pleasant, although there are too many tables packed too close together, which makes it very noisy.

Service here is a disaster. Only two waitresses to serve the entire two story restaurant and no hostess. On a Saturday night at 19:00 no less. It took ten minutes just to be seated and another 15 to receive a beer. Many reviews have complained about the staff being grumpy, and I completely understand. I’d be grumpy as hell too if I had to serve an entire floor by myself and also be the host. This place desperately needs to hire more staff. As for the food, it was just okay. The bratwurst were my least favorite out of the three different restaurants at which I tried them. The sauerkraut was quite good though.

Absolute recommendation, quaint, rustic and really tasty, super nice and attentive service. Exactly as I imagined and hoped. The horseradish is really awesome 🥵 But you shouldn't come if you're very hungry, you'll be poor, tourist prices. A full recommendation from me.

Food: Cartilage or bone ponds in the Nuremberg bratwurst, lukewarm weak sauerkraut, watery potato salad, completely messed up dressing on the lettuce, pork medallions tough and lukewarm. The best bratwurst restaurant in the world

WARNING !!!! Very Next to Zum Gulden Stern is Lebanese cuisine restaurant "Laventine". Lots and tasty but VERY EXPENSIVE!!! We wanted to get to Zum Gulden Stern with Franconian cuisine, but we inadvertently entered "Laventine" with an unmarked entrance. The sign was removed due to renovation of the facade (scaffolding). Zum Gulden Stern turns out to have an entrance on the side of the building and not from the front. It is clear that this is a common deception for tourists because we also heard e.g. Hungarian, Italian... The behavior of the woman indicated that they also ended up here by mistake. The restaurant is run by two brothers, who are clearly aware of this and take advantage of it by inviting tourists at the door so that they do not go to the neighbors of Zum Gulden Stern! Then they offer dishes without providing a menu! And now the WARNING. Be careful, for a dinner for 3 people with Lebanese cuisine (2 meat dishes + 2 beers + 2 waters + potato salad + 5 mini cabbage rolls + a few dressings for Lebanese bread + a glass of aniseed Lebanese vodka) they charged over 200€!!!! 🤨 I can afford it, but some people might get shocked 🤯😱😲 so I'm warning you in advance! NEVER go to this restaurant if that wasn't your original goal and you entered it by mistake !!! I repeat once again, the entrance to Zum Gulden Stern is around the corner (on the left when standing in front of the building with the restaurant's name written on the wall of the facade). Not sure where the 5 stars are coming from but this place is an overpriced tourist trap. Mainly seems to cater for foreign business types on expenses. Food took approx 1 hour to arrive because there seems to be 1.5 waitresses for the entire place. Food is of OK quality. The signature sausages are way too salty. The pork steak is good though, but portion is child-sized. Avoid unless of course you're an Instagram influencer or want to impress your business pals.

Can't lie that the reviews had me a little on edge, but after dining here: Anyone complaining about service either needs to chill or be more understanding if/when they're visiting during the high travel season. I had a perfectly pleasant and delicious meal here. Dark beer, sausage, saurkraut, and potato salad were all very good. Fair pricing and quick, friendly service, though granted this was on a Sunday night during shoulder season. Only thing I'll complain about is that I can't take a barrel of their barrel saurkraut home with me, but that's probably just a me problem. Otherwise, it's pretty simple: Make a reservation. Eat to your heart's content. Profit.

Both grilled bratwursts and sour dumplings were very good. Fast, friendly service, if you don't come alone outside of peak hours, like me, you should make a reservation.

I'm blown away by how cool this is! This is still a real inn, as it should be. Life is pulsating here, you can smell how your food is being prepared, the waitress lives and loves her job... It's crazy that I was able to experience something like that in our soulless plastic world in 2025! And then the food and drinks aren't even expensive! Please keep it up and to all potential guests: go there!

Quaint restaurant in the old town of Nuremberg. Grilling takes place on the open grill in the dining room. You have to see this before. The location is located in a time-honored building. That alone is worth seeing. A manageable menu with originals from the region. It tasted wonderful. Really recommended.

The ambience and service are very good, but unfortunately the food is only partial. The bratwursts and sirloin were very good, but the side dishes (potato salad and coleslaw) tasted like they came from a bucket from the wholesale market. They weren't homemade. I would have expected that given the high prices. Therefore only 3 stars for the food, also because of the price. The location is very clear, but I think 17 euros for 6 small Nurembergers and 2 small Lendchen is a bit too high. A small lamb's lettuce as a side dish also cost just under 10 euros.

The best sausages in town. Particularly good with cabbage. This has a lot of caraway seeds, which I don't really like, but it's delicious here! Very rustic and homely atmosphere and good service. Advance reservation definitely makes sense.

I had two things. The bratwursts tasted very good. The meat, however, was tasteless. The sauerkraut portion was very small, but the taste was good.

Die Würstchen mit Kraut waren super. Das Kraut beinhaltet reichlich Kümmel, was ich normalerweise Weise nicht so mag, hat mir hier aber fantastisch geschmeckt. Beim betreten des Hauses erlebt man eine kleine Zeitreise. Es ist unheimlich gemütlich und alles wirkt sehr geschichtsschwanger. Das Personal ist freundlich.

We were served very nicely even without a reservation, unfortunately the loins were out, we got the city sausage instead, it was all very tasty, but very sausage-heavy. I don't really like eating from tin plates either, but it was very comfortable otherwise.

I can agree with the reviews that the food and atmosphere were good , but the service was really bad that it ruined the food experience .. the person who was taking the order was so rude and uninterested, at some points trying to place an order with him was intimidating.. the cherry on the top is that he asked us for a tip !!

A popular and historic German restaurant. The wooden exterior and interior feel quite old, but the atmosphere is very nice. There are many seats. The menu also includes photos, making it easy to order. However, English is difficult to communicate. The German sausages and meat dishes are delicious, but the cheese fondue and pretzels are also recommended. Bacon and onion mixed with cheese go perfectly together.

The food is as good as German food can get—sausages, potatoes, and cabbage galore. It feels like they’re still eating as if they were in wartime. The service, however, was awful. We were greeted by the owner himself, who clearly has never traveled outside of Germany and has no clue what good service means. I visited with my girlfriend and her parents, a family of four, during the busy Christmas season. Half the items on the menu weren’t available, which was already disappointing. We ordered three large dishes to share and politely asked for individual plates so we could serve ourselves. The owner brought us just one plate, then proceeded to count out loud, pointing his finger at us with an annoyed tone: "1, 2, 3, 4," as if we were bothering him. If you can go somewhere else, do it. There are definitely better restaurants with far superior service.

Very good and traditional restaurant for Franconian cuisine. Original Nuremberg grilled sausages prepared to perfection, exceptionally tasty sauerkraut. Unfortunately very poorly trained operators, difficult to understand and incorrect. In addition, many dishes are not available even though they are on the menu. All in all, a very recommendable restaurant.

Everything was great! The area, the food, and the service. The only thing I did not like and was surprised to see was that they have adopted a Western culture that is tipping. The waitress asked if we liked service and to tip. This is the first time I have seen this in all my visits to Germany. Please don't adopt this very ugly culture of asking for tips on your little machine. I am still surprised it happen. Feels like the stupid tipping culture we have in the states. To be fair, the service was good, everything was awesome except for the tipping.

Seit 1419 und heute eine schöne urige Touristenfalle. Was schön für Touristen ist: es wird immer noch auf Zinn serviert, es wird immer noch auf einem Herzteller serviert. Ich hatte Dreierlei bestellt: Die Nürnberger waren sehr gut. Die Stadtwurst war ein Sechstel Würstchen aber auch nicht so aufregend. Und die Schweinelende mit Fertig-Kräuterbutter, war geschmacklich nichts und leider auch knochentrocken. Als das nächste Mal wieder nur Nürnberger. Den Meerrettich muss man extra zahlen und hat aber die richtige Schärfe und Konsistenz. Der Krautsalat mit Speckwürfel war sehr gut.

A unique historical restaurant with beautiful Bavarian interior. I really liked the steaks and Nuremberg sausages with horseradish and original salads. The delicious nut schnapps and the dark beer were also excellent. The strudel with cream sauce was simply delicious. A special thank you to the friendly, personable and attentive waitresses Yeva and Arevik, who fit harmoniously into the Bavarian flair of the Zum Gulden Stern restaurant. I stopped by for dinner near the hotel I was staying at. It's said to be the world's oldest bratwurst kitchen, and you can watch the bratwurst being prepared on the first floor. The atmosphere was classic and the food was delicious!

The charm of the house also lies in the fact that it brings tourists closer to a real piece of Nuremberg. No show, no frills – just honest, authentic Franconian cuisine. The atmosphere is warm, the service is attentive, and you get the feeling that time runs a little slower here. If you are looking for a real culinary experience that combines tradition and taste, you should not miss the “Zum Gulden Stern”. A place to return to - not just for the food, but also for the feeling of being a part of history.

Había hecho reservas y estaba deseando un buen almuerzo "alemán". Estábamos sentados arriba y nos dieron menús. Vi un buen sonido de "dunkel" y pedí medio litro. Entonces pedí un vaso de agua. "Leitungswasswer" Me dijeron que no. Es "verboten". Les expliqué que siempre he hecho esto cuando bebía cerveza en Alemania durante muchos años. (He hecho en Muenchen, Duesseldorf, Koeln, Hamburgo, Berlín, Osnabrück, y muchos más). Traté de explicar que puedo beber más cerveza si también bebo agua. Ella seguía diciendo VERBOTEN así que me levanté y bajamos las escaleras todavía discutiendo. No recibí ayuda abajo, así que nos fuimos.
