The owner himself complained that I hadn't left a tip. I should point out that, as soon as I arrived, I was told to sit at a table where there were already two other people, even though there were other tables available, as it was almost closing time. There were about 40 minutes left. My daughter's request to go upstairs was denied because they're starting to #clean# in the room above. You can't welcome customers by telling them "you have to hurry up and eat because there are 40 minutes left until closing time" and then the owner is surprised that I didn't leave him a tip???!??? He should learn to treat his customers better, as they certainly prefer him. Next time, go ELSEWHERE 😊

We spontaneously stopped at the restaurant today, as we live very close by. Unfortunately, what we experienced there left us speechless. We didn't complain because we're certain we won't be returning. Aside from the decor and the building itself, there's nothing positive to say. The prices seem completely exorbitant. We've rarely paid so much money for carelessly prepared food in very small portions. When we pointed out that the mustard pots on the table were empty, the server simply said, "They won't be refilled today; you're the last customers." There was also a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the air. After a server came down from upstairs with an ashtray at our request, we understood why. The liver dumpling soup tasted okay and was worth the money. The sauerkraut, however, wasn't sour at all and was more reminiscent of a sweet Bavarian sauerkraut. The plate with six bratwursts, two pieces of meat, and potato salad was absolutely overpriced. We will not be visiting this restaurant again and unfortunately cannot recommend it.

Old-style restaurant with wooden tables, a warm atmosphere, and an open grill on display. The food was traditional, nicely prepared, and genuinely tasty. The horseradish and mustard on the side were particularly flavourful and complemented the dishes very well. However, I'm disappointed from the service: when we entered the restaurant, two women (likely the owners) were busy with a tablet and did not look up until one of the cooks told them to attend to us. Our waiter was rude and pushed us to place our order as quickly as possible. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip.

The oldest restaurant in Nuremberg, open since 1419. The food is absolutely traditional; the Nuremberg sausages and wurstel are delicious, and the beer is excellent. The staff is dressed in traditional attire, but we found our welcome a bit cold.

The world's oldest sausage restaurant Opened in 1491, this restaurant has been in business for a long time. I ordered a set of two types of sausage, meat, and a choice of potato or cabbage salad. The wheat beer is mild and easy to drink. It was around ¥4,000.

The oldest sausage grill. The sausages were absolutely delicious, as was the meat. Served on pewter plates, just like in the old days. The place is old and quaint. A young owner who still greets the guests herself. It should be on your list of things to see in Nuremberg. Even though the place was packed, everything went very quickly and smoothly. They have a really great team.

Unique atmosphere! The food is excellent! The staff is friendly and very helpful! Even though we didn't have a reservation, the girls seated us right away! Chris is the trump card of the store! A visit to the restaurant is considered a must!

Traditional German restaurant. Delicious and well-prepared regional cuisine. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional German style in a beautifully preserved house. The service is quick and friendly, with staff who make a point of understanding you even if you don't speak Spanish. We were admitted without a reservation.

My mom and I went there for lunch the other day for my birthday. The restaurant itself is beautiful, very quaint, and very cozy. The service was also top-notch. Now for the less pleasant part: as a Nuremberg native, you naturally know your bratwurst, but here they've completely lost their pride and are selling cheap, pre-cooked Hoeneß sausages from the supermarket. You can tell by their artificial casing, their shape, taste, and the fact that they're pre-cooked for preservation. The quality and value are completely out of whack, and anyone who wants to eat good, authentic Nuremberg bratwurst should definitely avoid this place. I don't think the locals are thrilled about it; let's hope the restaurant survives on tourists alone if they're serving such terrible bratwurst... crazy! A little tip: there's a good butcher on Kirchenweg...

Pure tradition at the Bratwurst Kitchen in Nuremberg 🍽️ I recently visited the Bratwurst Kitchen in Nuremberg and had a truly wonderful evening. The restaurant has a wonderfully cozy, rustic atmosphere – exactly what you'd imagine a traditional Franconian inn to be. The aroma of freshly grilled bratwurst fills the air as soon as you walk in. Of course, I tried the Nuremberg Rostbratwurst – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. It came with sauerkraut and fresh farmhouse bread, simple but delicious. The beer was also a perfect match, nice and cold and locally brewed. The service was friendly and attentive, despite the restaurant being quite full. We celebrated a birthday here with about 50 people. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fair for the quality. A true piece of Nuremberg tradition – if you're looking for hearty Franconian cuisine in an authentic setting, this is the place to be. I'll definitely be back!

I was in Nuremberg for work, at the Mass fairs, and had a free evening. I searched online for the best German cuisine, especially in Nuremberg, and found this place. Initially, the waitress told me, when I showed up at 9 pm, that there were no tables available, but then, after insisting, she put me in with a lovely local family who was about to sit down. I had a very good meal, including meat and beer, all recommended by the waitress, and I met some very cheerful and friendly people. The place is noisy, cute, and cheerful. I paid around €30 for a dish with a side dish and a beer. Recommended 👍🏻

I went here for a meal with my Finnish colleague, who wanted "local food." What could be better than Nuremberg bratwurst? The food was delicious; we ordered potato salad (really good!), sauerkraut, and bread to go with the bratwurst. Everything was fresh and tasty! The service was very friendly and quick! I'm from Nuremberg myself, haven't been there for at least 15 years, and I have to say that's a real shame because it's a truly charming place and the food is great—I'll have to change that :-)

In my opinion, they're relying on their name and the number of tourists. We had reserved a table, but when we asked where it was, they initially only gave us the table number. After asking again, they finally agreed to show us the table. The service was okay, but at times they were overwhelmed when taking our orders, which was followed by brusque comments that we should order drinks and desserts separately. The portions were rather small for the price, so we had to have dessert. The apple strudel was unfortunately completely soggy. The main course tasted good. At 9 p.m. we were informed that they would be closing at 10 p.m. I was irritated that a friend ordered a cheese fondue that was specifically listed as vegetarian, but which was garnished with bacon cubes. As a Nuremberg native, I wouldn't come here again, but I guess the nice ambience is the deciding factor for tourists.

Stunning location and sublime cuisine; the famous Nuremberg sausages were fantastic. I had some qualms about the welcome, which was decidedly cold, almost unfriendly. While waiting for dinner, I asked for a beer to drink at the tables outside, where there were other people. The answer was yes, but you'll have to take it outside yourself. Oh well, the price was €5, and again, no complaints. When I mentioned I'd be paying by card, I was told the price was going up to €10. At that point, I mentioned I'd be dining there and wanted reassurance that I wouldn't receive the same treatment at dinner, since I only had a card. After carefully checking the reservations, with my help because she couldn't find me, she loosened up a bit and allowed me to go out for a beer, which she'd later charge, while also making sure she'd keep an eye on me with her camera. Well, what can I say? Despite everything, I'd happily go back.

Food was delicious, staff warm and welcoming, fantastic atmosphere. What's not to like? Highly recommended to anyone visiting Nuremberg.

The blonde waitress with the glasses was very rude. We ordered an extra beer and aggressively responded to us that it will be the last one, because the restaurant will close in a bit.

This place is an experience, from the old style to the amazing sausages and beer. The day I went there was a news crew interviewing people for an article on what I assume to be some sausage boxing match. But even still the food came out timely and tasted amazing.

A historic restaurant. Great atmosphere. Accordingly, it also attracts quite a few foreign tourists. The food is delicious, the drinks are excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The service was a bit brusque, but friendly nonetheless. Anyone in the area should definitely treat themselves to this.

We were at the bratwurst kitchen again today, October 11th, and I have to say my wife and I were disappointed. Either they were different sausages (which were much too firm and tasted different than the last time). Or they had been grilled far too long ago and reheated. First, I'd like to mention the great ambiance. We received a warm welcome and were served quickly. We each had 6 Röstla (fried sausages), one side dish of coleslaw with bacon, and one side dish of barrel-baked sauerkraut. We give our food a B. But photos say more than 1,000 words.

Food: 5/5. Sausages and the sauerkraut was delicious. Regretting not ordering a bigger portion. Ambience: 5/5. Beautifully kept old rustic building with low ceiling made it felt so cosy. It was as though i stepped back into time and space. Service: 1.5/5. Promptly sitted by a waiter. But felt unwelcomed by hostess. Not rude just cold. Waited a long time for my bill even though i was just sitted next to the cashier. Wasn’t asked a tip like she did with other tables probably knowing her service was subpar. Poor representation of the German population where i was kindly treated with good service and friendly conversations in most parts of the country. Would still recommend this place as it was a lovely meal and a pretty building to be in.

Visited an hour before close and loved the cozy, almost family-table atmosphere. While the food and beer were generally good rather than memorable, the salted pork knuckle with sauerkraut stood out (honestly among the best sauerkraut I've ever had as a tourist). Service was friendly.

We arrived in Germany after an exhausting train ride from France and were very excited to have some authentic German food, and we were not disappointed! We walked in and were seated upstairs either a view of below and immediately, a very friendly gentleman offered to assist us in ordering what was good on the menu. He was so charismatic and helpful, catered several different dishes and we throughly enjoyed every single dish. From the yummy potato soup, refreshing salad, cheese dip with bread, a main dish of large and small brats and pork tenderloin with herb butter, it was all so delicious. We raved over the potato salad as well and are already trying g to figure out how to recreate the dish for our family back in the US. We indulged in the apple strudel and the plum parfait and found those delightful. We can’t say enough about the food served and the service. We have to leave tomorrow for our next stop in Europe and are excited to go to our last dinner in Germany again at this lovely establishment. Will recommend to anyone 100%.

The grilled food is excellent. If you don't have a reservation, you might want to go early, as there are limited dining times. The food is affordable, and the drinks are cheap too. I heard they've been awarded a Michelin star in 2024. The potato salad is absolutely amazing, and the sauerkraut is surprisingly served warm. This is the first time I've experienced German cuisine that's truly beyond my comprehension! Highly recommended!

Tourist review: Historic venue to eat Nuremberg bratwurst - Zum Gulden Stern serves delicious bratwurst and beer! Came here and got the mixed platter from the grill with the large & small bratwursts, pork medallions and a side of sauerkraut. All the food was absolutely delicious - the small bratwursts were super tasty especially and the sauerkraut was the best I’ve ever had! The dark draconian beer was also one of the best beers I’ve had in Germany - highly recommend. The restaurant itself is also very honestly and cosy, although the portions of food are a little on the smaller side. Would definitely come back!

The result, both simple and complex, is delicious. Eating delicious and simple dishes in a 600-year-old setting is both heartwarming and satisfying.

It's a shame, the food is so-so. The sausages are good, but only the sausages! Stay away from all other dishes – the service is also mediocre.

The food was tasty and arrived quickly, but unfortunately, the value for money was pretty poor. Paying €16.40 for ten small Nuremberg sausages without any real side dish is outrageous.

We were a group of 22 people with a reservation on a Saturday evening. The ambiance is rustic and medieval, but with very hard wooden chairs and benches. Cushions were only available in a few places upon explicit request. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was not right at all; the portion sizes, the selection, and the quality of the food left a lot to be desired, unless you love greasy sausages. My potato soup was a thin broth with 5 small potato cubes and 3 bacon cubes the size of a coffee cup for €5.90, and the roll was an additional €1.20. Some dishes come with pretzels or rolls (like with Obazda or soups). Although the restaurant is open until 10 p.m., they were completely "out" by 8 p.m. and no more were refilled. Truly absurd. The crowning moment, however, was paying at the end. That's not possible with guests at the table. Every guest must report to the cash register before being served. So we all got up and stood in a long line across the restaurant. It was very comfortable for us and the other guests still eating. There's no other way to be hospitable.

Great ambiance, quaint. Tables for sharing, but everything is quite close together, which is also part of the charm. The Sauer Zipfel (sausages) and the fried Nuremberg sausages were truly delicious, along with delicious sauerkraut. Unfortunately, the starters, liver dumpling soup and potato soup, were rather disappointing. The broth in the liver dumpling soup was good, but the dumpling itself was rather bland and should have been left to brew longer. The potato soup wasn't exactly a treat either. A very thin soup with potatoes and a few carrot pieces in it; generally very weak in flavor. The apple strudel is a standard frozen product, much to our daughter's dismay. If we had limited ourselves to the main courses, it would probably have been at least 4 stars.

This is our fourth time there and we highly recommend it. The food is fantastic! The service is super friendly, and you don't have to wait long for your food. If you're looking for something traditional, this is the place for you.

I like to go there when I'm in Nuremberg. The food is good, the atmosphere is great, and the prices are very reasonable.

And all those sausages I ate were worth the effort of cycling for so many kilometers. Nothing else interested me except those sausages. They were delicious, and that cabbage, and you, the beer, were finger-licking good.

Very nice atmosphere. The beer is excellent, plus I recommend the sloe liqueur. The girl Ari is in her place - she will always prompt and advise. The meat was tasty, the cabbage - just great. We were here six months ago, came here now, and will definitely come again. The only minus is that the strudel is still not the same. But nothing is perfect.

This place is just wonderful! A real half-timbered house with a recreated atmosphere of the Middle Ages - the best place to get acquainted with German cuisine! Meat and sausages cooked on an open fire and served on fancy tin plates will not leave you indifferent! As expected, they come with potato salad or cabbage. The portions are small, but quite sufficient. The beer is simply excellent! We will definitely come here again.

This is the worst place i have ever been to. The waiter is an old rude man and extremely unfriendly. He did not give us utensils and we had to borrow from the table next to us and he put us sitting with strangers even though there were many empty places in the restaurant. He even forced us to hang our clothes on hanger. We ordered two main cuisines but he only provided two slices of toast. Because of his bad services, we did not want to give him tips but he was asking for tips even though it was optional. I will never ever been there again and would not recommend to anyone.

A cozy restaurant off the beaten track. The tip was that it was in the Frauentor parking garage. A warm welcome, and a little history of the origins and regional partners on the menu. The sour sausages and the three-way sausage were excellent. You can choose from 6 to 20 sausages. There's something for every appetite. 🙂 If we're ever in Nuremberg again, we'll definitely visit the Gulden Stern again.

An excellent place to stop for lunch during a tour of Nuremberg. Delicious, high-quality traditional dishes. Good value for money. The fondue and the platter with the typical mixed grilled meats are truly unique.

Reservations are required if you're looking for a table that isn't for a group. The atmosphere is truly quaint, like stepping back in time. The waitresses are very kind and the service is excellent. The portions are quite small, allowing you to sample a variety of dishes.
