Enjoyed extremely delicious Obatzn with cellar bread and then a pretzel. The grilled sausages from Schatz were also excellent - the blackcurrant spritzer also tasted like it. The waiter was very personable and polite and was always ready and on his toes. The beer garden shines with its beautiful shade with a light breeze - wonderful in this hot weather. Be careful with the flies. It is a very well located place but the green flies attack you. It feels bad to say this, but it is what it is.

During a spontaneous short trip to beautiful Nuremberg, we wanted to find a restaurant with good home-style and regional food. Unfortunately the food was anything but good. The prifferling cream soup was more of a porridge made from mixed mushrooms. There was stale bread in the potato soup and unfortunately it didn't taste good either. The main course of Franconian sauerbraten was okay, the meat was tender, the dumpling tasted old and the sauce tasted almost exclusively of red wine. We have to praise the service, which was always friendly and attentive.

Something wonderful happened, now I'll tell you ☺️ Do you know when a friend explains to you in every detail what you are going to eat? There, everything was clear, I knew perfectly what I wanted and the restaurant could satisfy all my expectations. 🌈 I order the famous shoulder, complete with charred rind for an end-of-the-world crunch! We wait, and here comes a small portion... without the rind 😓 so desired 😭, I call the waitress and tell her the exact words "I took a beautiful photo where the rind was enormous and then I get this very small piece? What happened?" The waitress apologizes and at the end of dinner returns with the head waiter, with another portion of shoulder... HUGE! I didn't eat it because one is more than enough, but I was still very impressed by their attention 🙌🏻, so thank you, thank you and congratulations for your professionalism! I recommend everything, the excellent cuisine, the generosity of those who work there and the very serene environment. Thanks again, I will definitely come back to have dinner with you. We had lunch at “Zum Spiessgesellen”. We were served very quickly and then had our drinks very quickly. You feel very comfortable and special requests are taken into account. The food didn't take long to arrive either. And what can I say... the Schäuferle is super tasty and you get a huge portion. If we come to Nuremberg again, we will definitely go to Spiessgelen again. The pork shoulder was just so good. Crispy skin, meat was tender and flavorful. The atmosphere has an old world's charm. All was wonderful, of course they also have a great beer selection!

I waited for the food one hour. The food is good. Don't bring bread to cream soups.

I was able to make a reservation for over 50 people at relatively short notice. After a short consultation, Mr. Pop even designed a special card for us. That evening I was very impressed by how quickly everything went. Everyone immediately had something to drink and could order their food. Mr. Pop himself was there for us the whole time and organized everything perfectly with his team. Across the board, everyone said that the Spiessgele was beautifully located in Nuremberg's old town, that they enjoyed being in such a traditional restaurant and that the food was really, really good. So if you want to spend a nice evening with a larger group or have a good meal in a rustic restaurant, this is the right place for you! I can absolutely recommend it.

Despite the large crowds, the service was very friendly and nice. The shovel was excellent. I can highly recommend it.

We've been there twice now and everything has always been perfect. Despite the large company, they still found a place for the 5 of us. We were informed right at the beginning that the company's food would be shot in 30 minutes and that the kitchen would therefore be at capacity, which would have (logically) delayed our meal, everyone was friendly and accommodating, food and hazelnut schnapps were super tasty. This meant I was able to keep my promise to my 4 guests that I knew a great restaurant ❤️

On a Saturday afternoon we were friendly shown to a table and served immediately. The drinks and food came very quickly and were very tasty. Previously, we had waited in vain for 20 minutes for service at the Bratwurst Röslein. Everything was great at the Philistine!

I've traveled a lot, but this was some of the best German cuisine I've ever eaten! The dumplings had an excellent consistency, with brown butter, served with Schäufele and knuckles, so tender that the meat almost fell off the bone, and the gingerbread sauce was of the highest quality. Add a red beer and we were in culinary paradise. :) Our next trip to Nuremberg will 100% take us back into the circle!

We were looking forward to a great Easter meal and were unfortunately extremely disappointed by the kitchen and the restaurant manager. Legitimate complaints about a terribly lumpy sauce were not addressed. The nice waiter was only allowed to offer us coffee or schnapps. But that didn't help us. When the restaurant management again kindly asked if they could please accommodate us with the bill, they simply said that it was too complicated to give a discount on the bill, so we had to pay in full and were very annoyed by this lack of insight. Ergo, no quality control when sending the food and no insight or accommodation. Service is spelled differently than here. We would never come back.

I was meeting friends there while on a diet, so couldn't eat there and thought I'd support the business and not just order tap water, like I probably would have if I'd have had food. But €11.70 for 3 still waters! Should have checked the menu and switched to tab water after 1, but honestly, who expects 1.2l of water to be more expensive than a bottle of wine in a supermarket! I've learned my lesson.

There were four of us and thanks to reservations we had a nice place. It got pretty crowded in the evening, but the atmosphere was still right, just a little louder. The food was very good. The friendly and attentive waiter was just as great. Definitely recommended.

There were a large group of us there, the food and service were fine, everything was good, you can't do the Nuremberg classics yourself.

Was there for a professional dinner. It's just a tourist restaurant with corresponding prices. The sauerbraten costs just under €20 and consists of a bit of roast pork and a dumpling and sauce (you can get the same quality much cheaper elsewhere). Red cabbage has to be ordered separately for around €4. The red cabbage wasn't brought to me, but was still added to the bill. The waitress also seemed very impatient when it came to taking orders (little time to look through the menu). As a local resident I wouldn't go here privately, I'll leave that to the tourists.

Wenn man Menschenmassen und/oder Massentourismus mag, ist man hier gut aufgehoben. Das Essen ist mittelmäßig, der Service ist sehr gut 👍. Zu Viert an einem kleinen Fenstertisch lässt fast keinen Platz für Getränk, Essen und evtl. noch einen kleinen Salat. Die Portionen sind o.k. Der Vorteil: man ist sofort mitten in der schönen Stadt Nürnberg.

The outside of the restaurant looks neat and well kept, the inside has a traditional feel with modern-ish furniture, either tables in the long open floor plan or smaller nooks with the windows .. the food was delicious and has fair prices, friendly staff, too. Would recommend.

Großes Restaurant im historischen Rathaus. Natürlich sehr sehr viele Touristen hier aber u ned dadurch etwas teuerer als in Restfranken. Aber das Essen ist echt lecker in den große Portionen. Super Innen- und Aussenbereich. Absoluter Geheimtipp während der Weihnachtszeit. Super leckerer Glühwein, tolles Ambiente, legendärer Zwetschgenschnaps. Muss man probieren. Super aufmerksame und nette Mitarbeiter an der Bar

Stärkung zum Christkindlmarkt. Wir haben die letzte Gelegenheit genutzt den Christkindlmarkt zu besuchen. Für eine kleine Stärkung waren wir im „Spießgesellen“. Wir haben sofort einen gemütlichen Platz bekommen und wurden sehr schnell mit Getränken versorgt. Als Vorspeise gab es Brot und Aufstrich in einem Schälchen. Hier konnte man zwischen Griebenschmalz, Kräuterquark, groben Mett und Bauernleberwurst wählen. Die Portion reicht gut für zwei Personen. Dazu gab es leckeres, dunkles Bier. Im Hauptgang gab es Kartoffelsuppe und Sauerbraten. Beides war ok. Kulinarische Höhepunkte kann man in einem Touristen Hotspot nicht erwarten. Es war alles in allem ein schöner Aufenthalt.

Zünftig, zünftig geht es hier zu: In historischen Räumen wird hier traditionell in sehr guter Qualität aufgetischt, vom Schäufle bis zu umfangreichen gemischten Platten. Der erfahrene Service hat den Laden auch bei Volllast gut um Griff.

Kässpätzle mit Salat extraklasse.

Wir waren zur Weihnachtsfeier hier. Auch unter der Woche war es Abends knallvoll. Es ist halt ein typisches Touristenlokal. Der Service war sehr gestresst und, obwohl ich meinen Hauptmannspieß Medium bestellt hatte, war er komplett durch und furztrocken. Den anderen am Tisch ging es nicht besser. Schade für den Preis, denn günstig war das Gericht nicht. Auch die Apfelküchle waren nicht berühmt. Ich würde privat nicht herkommen.

Eine super Adresse, wenn man gutes fränkisches Essen genießen möchte. Je nach Saison, kann es sehr voll sein und es ist ein wenig Massenabfertigung, trotzdem ist das Essen immer top Qualität. Angestellte sind freundlich und schnell. Wir können den Spießgesellen auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

Wir bestellten Schäufel. 1x mit Sauerkraut und 1x Blaukraut. Das Schäufele bestand aus Knochen, Fett und ganz wenig Fleisch. Geschmeckt hat es fad und aus dem Wasser gezogen, so auch der Knödel. Am besten waren Sauerkraut und Blaukraut. Der Service war ganz gut.

Normale Regionale Küche in rustikalem Ambiente auf für die Region zu hohem Preisniveau. Dies hat der Super Service durch Katrin und Nicole aber dann wieder neutralisiert

Das Ambiente hat schon was. Der Service ist hervorragend. Einzig das Essen. Lachssteak mit Kartoffelpuffer an Honig-Senf-Sauce, klang besser, als es schlussendlich war. Ist reine Geschmackssache. War in einer Gruppe von 30 Leuten jedoch nicht allein mit meiner Meinung.

Heute das erste mal in Nürnberg gewesen und einen Tipp bekommen wo man sehr gut essen kann. Wir also los zum Spießgesellen. Um die Mittagszeit schon sehr gut besucht. Wir haben trotzdem einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Der Service und das Essen war 1A. Das Ambiente ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Danke dafür. Wir kommen wieder.
