Atmosphere can be loud for some..except everything top.

We were here for a Christmas party and I didn't think the food was as good as it was a few years ago. But it could also have been due to the “mass processing”. The service was quick, things didn't go so well when re-ordering drinks and the food was okay but nothing special. I had vegan meatballs with potato salad and salad, which was okay. My colleagues had salmon with a soggy sauce, it wasn't that tasty, the Schäufele were very large and the colleagues were satisfied. For dessert there was a variation of parfait, ice cream and apple fritters, I could have saved the calories.

The day before Christmas Eve. It was an absolute year-end tradition for us on the 23rd, what a shame!

Went there for dinner yesterday. First impression, a bit cool and train station atmosphere. Service quick and friendly. But: The duck we ordered was pale and could have been hotter. The red cabbage was also only lukewarm. The portion of the sauerbraten was okay, but the taste was below average, a bit like canteen food. Only the potato soup we ordered before was good. When the waiter asked if everything was ok, I told him that some of the food was cold. According to him, he passes it on to the kitchen. But as quickly as he gets in and out of the kitchen with the worn plates, I doubt that. Conclusion: A typical tourist restaurant, with high prices that are out of proportion to the quality of the food.

As long-time guests, we wanted to have a quick drink while we waited for our companions. 8 tables were free and we were directed to the bar. Despite the information that we had a pregnant woman with us who could not sit well there due to her advanced condition, our request for another seat was rejected.

Nice food. Schäufele is a bit dry but the gravy is ok. One jar 🫙 of beer 🍺 for 3 liter is very good. O chose Kellerbier and it was ok. The service was not really quick.

Ideal for larger groups to eat Franconian food. Were there with 15 people. The food came quickly (and was also very hearty/good). Were always asked if anyone wanted something to drink. The service was very attentive and friendly. TOP!!! But nothing works without a reservation! Went there on a Tuesday evening and it was very busy.

If you like ordering food, and waiting and waiting, and waiting with kids. This is the place for you. We are currently into the 85th minute waiting for our food and we may let you know when we get it. So far they don’t seem to care. Good quality food-is decent from what I see, but can’t say. Update. Finally got our food close to the 100th minute mark and the restaurant bought us a beer. Seeing the place, probably not going to be impacted by my review but sad, everything we ordered likely was cooked hours ago. Items like roast pork or sauerbraten. And they don’t care as they are busy. I guess they have the recipes and you get treated like they will get to you when they can. I just think it sucks to have kids wait from 7:30 until after 9 for some sausages with fries or kase spaetzle. Would not bring anyone here that wants to be in an out in under 2 and a half hours. And the rest of the meals were likely plate and serve, but no one cares.

A very nice restaurant, you feel like you are in another one. Got a table for 4 without a reservation. The service was very friendly and helpful. It was a struggle with the menu. She won and now we come back more often to try the other dishes. A beautiful rustic kitchen

Really nice here and it was super tasty.

Good Frankish cuisine in a cozy interior. The best places, of course, are on the sofas in the niches by the window. The menu includes Frankish classics from sausages to knuckles. Nuremberg sausages are especially good in sour sauce. Or beef cheeks - tender, melting in your mouth. They are served with baked vegetables and dumplings. Of the drinks, Zirndorfer Kellerbier beer is especially interesting - malty, rich and drinkable.

Staff did not inform us that we only had the table for 1 hr and 15 minutes when we booked. After we had ordered a precourse+main dish and were halfway through the precourse, the waiter told us that we had to leave in less than an hour. We were not happy about this, and in my opinion the restaurant should have called the next customer, cancelled their booking due to doublebooking and done right by them somehow. Instead we were thrown out before we were done with our meal with no discount and with very unfriendly treatment by the staff and restaurant manager. Stay away

9 Nuremberg grilled sausages with sauerkraut and pretzel - pretzel apparently just baked - sauerkraut totally over salted and the sausages were limp.

A real inn! Great staff but more suitable for drinking. Unfortunately the food wasn't that good! Too much salt and the hustle and bustle on site means that the floor is full of sauce as the waiters rush through in a hurry. Red cabbage was way too mushy. The sauces are more like salty broth. But the meat is very tender. We had venison goulash and goose breast. The breast was tiny for 30 euros and was oversalted from the salt water on the plate. The spaetzle was cooked very soft and the dumpling didn't taste homemade. It's better to just go there to drink with friends!

Went there with friends on Saturday. A hectic pace like in a train station. Waiter overwhelmed. On the way to the toilet, our companion was almost run over by waiters or ran into their heels. Waiters seemed very stressed. The boss didn't seem particularly friendly either. Our hot drinks were waiting for the waiter to pick up for almost 5 minutes. There was little food on the plates for the price. Ladies toilet sink flowers the wall. The plaster is peeling off. There are nicer places to spend your money. Never again for us... just a tourist rip-off

Nice, cozy, friendly restaurant, you can also just go for a cellar beer. You have to see the Christmas meeting in the Spießgesell, super great decoration.

Great Scheuffele, but expensive beer prices

We dined with a larger group and were very disappointed. The dish with mushrooms and dumplings was totally over salted, as were the Schäufele and Sauerbraten. The kids wanted ice cream with cream for dessert - they were more likely to get ice cream with milk foam. We then wanted to have the rest of the food packed up and were looked at completely puzzled and asked if we were sure (twice) - of course, in retrospect I understand this question - it actually doesn't make sense to take something like that with us voluntarily. At around 8 p.m. they started mopping the kitchen floor and the entire staff had to walk through it - the footprints were spread throughout the restaurant. Shortly afterwards the light in the kitchen was turned off - you really had the feeling that you were no longer wanted (Friday evening) Unfortunately simply not recommended!!!

The food (Schäuferle) was rather average. Unfortunately, sauce was in short supply. Overall little and expensive. Service seemed very rushed. There was no water coming from any sink in the toilet. It's way too expensive for the service and dishes.

We waited 2 hours for our food. The food was good so far, but the kitchen and service staff seemed to be totally overloaded/incompetent. I've never seen a waiter go so many unnecessary ways. If there's little going on, that's definitely good. But we don't go here anymore. The boss was also very unfriendly and impossible (at the next table)

Very friendly staff. The three of us got a great table in the window alcove and the waiter was very warm and really funny. We didn't wait long for our food and it was really tasty. The Schäufele was a hit. The meat is tender with a crispy crust, the dumpling is bombastic and the apple red cabbage is a poem. Sauerbraten with gingerbread sauce was also absolutely delicious, as was the cheese spaetzle. The portions were very large, so we couldn't finish everything. The waiter immediately offered us something to pack. The drinks were also good. We'll definitely come back to try the rest of the dishes. Thank you for the hospitality!

Food absolutely excellent. Really a pleasure. Service quick and friendly. When making a reservation, it's best to make sure to sit near the counter towards the Bratwursthäusle. These are the most beautiful places.

Lunch on October 5th with my daughter after a shopping trip. Schäuferle with potato dumplings and red cabbage. Really great. Tender meat detaches perfectly from the bone, crispy, airy crust. Spit roast with bread dumplings and coleslaw. Tender, good roast, perfect natural sauce. For my PERSONAL taste, the coleslaw was bland and the bread dumpling was Franconian... Very friendly, quick and professional waiter. Gladly again

Courteous, friendly and quick service in a chivalrous and well-groomed atmosphere. Food: definitely order Schäufele, beer recommendation: Nuremberg red beer.

The food was decent but nothing special, the vegetable patties were cold in the middle and the duck skin wasn't crispy. We ordered bread for the starter but unfortunately it didn't arrive at our table until 20 minutes later. But we can highly recommend the Schäufle, it was really good. I have to change my review again, when we paid we were accused of not wanting to pay for the sauerkraut and red cabbage that we hadn't received. Although we didn't tip well after the aforementioned shortcomings.

The food here tastes very tasty and is also beautifully decorated. Compliments to the kitchen! The ambience is nicely decorated, only the dark colors seem gloomy to me personally. The staff is great, very hospitable and customer-oriented! I just don't like how you talk to the staff "from above" in the presence of guests. Unfortunately, we noticed this every time we visited here. The tone is rough. Linguistic jargon and word choice are subterranean. Please urgently teach the team/shift management the etiquette! Such embarrassing interpersonal behavior towards the hard-working and friendly employees, in the heart of Nuremberg, is unacceptable! Don't lose your face in your guests' eyes!

Good Franconian cuisine, can be recommended

We were charged for red cabbage which was not brought to the table. Very bad... and then denying it to 6 people... because of 4 euros. Very bad.

We had dinner here with colleagues during the Galabau. Anyone who likes good Bavarian cuisine is in good hands here. The service was super friendly, the food came very quickly and tasted very good. We will come back the next time we visit Galabau. Many thanks to the team

Enjoyed extremely delicious Obatzn with cellar bread and then a pretzel. The grilled sausages from Schatz were also excellent - the blackcurrant spritzer also tasted like it. The waiter was very personable and polite and was always ready and on his toes. The beer garden shines with its beautiful shade with a light breeze - wonderful in this hot weather. We just stopped in for a cold beer and ordered a little something to eat. Greaves of lard with roasted onions and a tasty liver sausage. Thanks again for the tip. We recommend you!

Be careful with the flies. It is a very well located place but the green flies attack you. It feels bad to say this, but it is what it is.

Quaint inn in the old town of Nuremberg. Delicious food and good cellar beer. The service staff are very nice. I was allowed to try a sip of beer before ordering because I didn't know if it would taste good. We were served quickly and very friendly. We will come back when we are in Nuremberg.

During a spontaneous short trip to beautiful Nuremberg, we wanted to find a restaurant with good home-style and regional food. Unfortunately the food was anything but good. The prifferling cream soup was more of a porridge made from mixed mushrooms. There was stale bread in the potato soup and unfortunately it didn't taste good either. The main course of Franconian sauerbraten was okay, the meat was tender, the dumpling tasted old and the sauce tasted almost exclusively of red wine. We have to praise the service, which was always friendly and attentive.

Locally in a very good location with a pleasant outdoor area and not so crowded. Service was very friendly. Price level ok compared to the restaurants in the city center. Overall, the food was very good (farmer's skewer was very tasty, potato soup with fresh bread was very good). Clear recommendation!

Friendly service, offers a place in the shade in the courtyard because it would be too hot outside. Fast friendly service. Reasonable prices and you will be welcomed even if you just want a drink. Turned away in other local gardens nearby, you also have to eat.

Something wonderful happened, now I'll tell you ☺️ Do you know when a friend explains to you in every detail what you are going to eat? There, everything was clear, I knew perfectly what I wanted and the restaurant could satisfy all my expectations. 🌈 I order the famous shoulder, complete with charred rind for an end-of-the-world crunch! We wait, and here comes a small portion... without the rind 😓 so desired 😭, I call the waitress and tell her the exact words "I took a beautiful photo where the rind was enormous and then I get this very small piece? What happened?" The waitress apologizes and at the end of dinner returns with the head waiter, with another portion of shoulder... HUGE! I didn't eat it because one is more than enough, but I was still very impressed by their attention 🙌🏻, so thank you, thank you and congratulations for your professionalism! I recommend everything, the excellent cuisine, the generosity of those who work there and the very serene environment. Thanks again, I will definitely come back to have dinner with you. A beautiful beer hall with honest offerings in the heart of Nuremberg's old town. Anyone who likes Franconian food and is interested in local brewing specialties will find their happiness here. From midday to evening.

We had lunch at “Zum Spiessgesellen”. We were served very quickly and then had our drinks very quickly. You feel very comfortable and special requests are taken into account. The food didn't take long to arrive either. And what can I say... the Schäuferle is super tasty and you get a huge portion. If we come to Nuremberg again, we will definitely go to Spiessgelen again. Delicious beer and hearty food!

The pork shoulder was just so good. Crispy skin, meat was tender and flavorful. The atmosphere has an old world's charm. All was wonderful, of course they also have a great beer selection!

I had Nuremberg sausage and beer! I had a choice of what to top, but I chose potato salad. I think it was a little sour, so it went better with the sausage. The sum was good.

I waited for the food one hour. The food is good. Don't bring bread to cream soups.

I was able to make a reservation for over 50 people at relatively short notice. After a short consultation, Mr. Pop even designed a special card for us. That evening I was very impressed by how quickly everything went. Everyone immediately had something to drink and could order their food. Mr. Pop himself was there for us the whole time and organized everything perfectly with his team. Across the board, everyone said that the Spiessgele was beautifully located in Nuremberg's old town, that they enjoyed being in such a traditional restaurant and that the food was really, really good. So if you want to spend a nice evening with a larger group or have a good meal in a rustic restaurant, this is the right place for you! I can absolutely recommend it.

Very nice old restaurant, the kitchens are too small, the preparation needs to be enlarged. Salad tasted like fish. Drinks good. Price performance ratio not acceptable! Make it better, ventilation is bad!

Despite the large crowds, the service was very friendly and nice. The shovel was excellent. I can highly recommend it.

We've been there twice now and everything has always been perfect. Despite the large company, they still found a place for the 5 of us. We were informed right at the beginning that the company's food would be shot in 30 minutes and that the kitchen would therefore be at capacity, which would have (logically) delayed our meal, everyone was friendly and accommodating, food and hazelnut schnapps were super tasty. This meant I was able to keep my promise to my 4 guests that I knew a great restaurant ❤️

On a Saturday afternoon we were friendly shown to a table and served immediately. The drinks and food came very quickly and were very tasty. Previously, we had waited in vain for 20 minutes for service at the Bratwurst Röslein. Everything was great at the Philistine!
