Be careful with the “schnitzel” filled with asparagus. Two asparagus with maximum dry veal, burnt on the underside. In addition, it was only two sticks of asparagus, frozen croquettes and ready-made hollandaise sauce for €30. The fact that the innkeeper offers a schnapps on the house is simply ridiculous. The other dishes looked good. Drinks were good.

A visit to the Wirtshaus zur Brez’n in Schwabing is a real highlight for lovers of Bavarian tavern culture. The Breznschnitzel is particularly recommended - wonderfully crispy on the outside thanks to the pretzel breading, wonderfully tender and juicy on the inside. A real taste experience! The service also deserves high praise: attentive, friendly and with real Bavarian warmth. You feel welcome from the first moment. The rustic ambience with lots of wood and loving details rounds off the visit perfectly.

Unfortunately disappointing experience - neither service nor quality corresponds to the price. Yesterday I was at the Wirtshaus zur Brez'n in Munich and unfortunately I was very disappointed overall - both with the service and the quality of the food. I had ordered asparagus with a small Wiener Schnitzel, but I was served the Schrobenhausen Schnitzel instead. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he just said, “That’s just the way it is.” Only after I and my friends showed him the card again did he reluctantly acknowledge the mistake - and even then I had to explain it to him two or three times before he finally brought the right schnitzel. That also only happened about 20 minutes later - but without bringing the dish back. So I had to pull the asparagus myself out of the fake natural schnitzel that had already been served, which neither looked appetizing nor tasted good. Regardless of the ordering error, the dish was very disappointing overall - especially for the price of €31. There was an extremely small amount of asparagus on the plate. The presentation was careless, and worst of all: the “Hollandaise sauce” wasn’t actually a sauce – it had the consistency of mayonnaise, was solid and cold, and tasted neutral at best, more like butter. A good hollandaise should be warm, slightly flowing and creamy - there was no trace of that here. The croquettes looked like the cheapest frozen croquettes and didn't match the taste of the dish at all. The waiter was also annoyed and unreasonable from the start, which worsened the overall impression. In short, even if it had been the “real” dish, it would have disappointed. For a dish that costs over €30, I expect significantly more quality, taste and service. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant.

The food was good, but our 1 year old child had a bad day after sleeping and cried at the table. The waitress then came and asked us if we could get it under control because the guests at the neighboring table had already complained and whether we didn't want to leave. Then we were instructed by the waiter whether we couldn't properly train our 1-year-old child to be quiet at the table. This is absolutely poor service and zero understanding of what a 1 year old child can and cannot do. When we were paying we were asked if we wanted to tip... so you can, too. As we left we were told we would be better off somewhere else. To everyone who wants to go there with children, you are not wanted if the child cannot be still. Never again!!!!

great food if you’re looking for authentic bavarian. we had the käsespätzle & pork knuckle and it was wonderful.

Very tasty and eat there quickly

The inn was clearly overcrowded despite only having two cooks. The waiting time for the food to arrive was more than an hour. Parts of the order did not arrive and were completely forgotten. After we mentioned that we didn't particularly enjoy our stay, we were honestly told: I (the waitress) don't care whether the guests have to wait. She receives her money and goes home after work. The long waiting times were due to the kitchen staff, who are CLEARLY understaffed. On such stressful and crowded days you could simply serve fewer people in the pub - it's not the ideal case, but it's probably much more pleasant for everyone. And as a tip: comparing the tavern with one of the big players in Munich's gastronomy sector does not correspond to reality.

Very busy on Saturday evening after football, full of fans, away and home. Nevertheless, the service was friendly, calm and attentive. Food was good as expected. We would go there again. Reservations are recommended.

Very beautiful historic restaurant with good regional cuisine. The restaurant is beautifully designed with a great atmosphere and comfortable seating spread over three floors. Reservations are highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and prompt. Extensive menu with many delicious dishes. We ordered the roast pork and the Burgundy roast and were very satisfied with the taste. The only thing is that the temperature could have been a bit higher for both; the processes here need to be optimized a bit.

I was there with a group of friends for some beers at around 17:00. Rude waiter. Never coming back again.

We had a fantastic dinner with delicious traditional German cuisine. The knuckle of pork was perfect, the sauce incredibly aromatic, and the potato dumplings were a delight. The Kaiserschmarrn was the best I've ever had: light, sweet, and simply heavenly. The apple sauce made with fresh apples was a dream. Add to that the attentive, friendly staff and excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

A quaint Bavarian inn where vegetarians aren't left out. The Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancakes) is a must.

Update: As good as the food is, the behavior of an older waiter has put the previously positive overall impression into perspective. Unfortunately, a professional, physical distance is not maintained or deliberately ignored by this gentleman (even though he obviously backs away and is still touched). At the moment I can only recommend the restaurant to a limited extent for business women who find such uninvited behavior offensive and hope that it was a one-off "slip" by an employee. Before: Good Bavarian cuisine without any frills. The roast pork was tender, the potato dumplings were al dente and the gravy rounded off the classic. The employees are mostly very friendly and know their craft. The inn with an outdoor area on Leopoldstrasse is a place to spend a nice time with family and friends.

That was really a pleasant surprise. Lunch time, not much going on, very nice and courteous service. Roast pork was super tasty, great meat, dumplings not too soft, crispy crust, plenty of sauce. Good portion and not expensive. Knödelgröstl from my companion also tasted good. So, highly recommended, definitely for lunch.

Typical German restaurant with good food, generous portions and pleasant atmosphere. The bad part of the experience was that at the end of the meal they offered us a shot apparently as a courtesy without warning us that they were going to charge us 6.50 euros each (lack of ethics and professionalism).

Nice Bavarian restaurant. Baked goat cheese salad came with no avocado, no walnuts and no honey. Just leaf lettuce, some tomatoes and cucumber as a salad base for just under €20 is a bit too weak.

It's a shame, a shame, a shame...we were looking forward to Bavarian cuisine but what we got was of very poor quality. My husband had Wienerschnitzel for almost 30 euros...it was tough like latex and gray under the breading...it wasn't veal either, the fried potatoes had been sitting for a while, the cranberries were out of a jar so the chef couldn't do anything wrong. I had the pork loin pan for 22 euros, the spaetzle was chewy and swimming in ready-made gravy, on top of it I placed 3 pieces of pork loin, also gray as if they were cooked, and on top of that I placed a slice of ham topped with a bit of mountain cheese and a tough, ready-fried onion. For a 70 euro dinner with drinks it was a complete flop. We didn't complain, it was our Valentine's Day trip to Munich and we didn't want to get annoyed or stressed. Unfortunately I don't understand all the positive reviews or we were very unlucky and the cook was different from usual. CONCLUSION: bad food that stays in our memories

Nice, rustic pub with good service. Prices are now at the usual, very high level. We only drank two beers and ate a pretzel each. There are only two stars because here, as in almost all of Bavaria, the glass is not filled to the calibration mark. Given the beer prices, I don't think that's right. Of course you can have it refilled - but we just don't go there anymore...

So it's fine Manna! The crusty roast is the best in all of Minga, it really stings me when I don't go there, so hoid your pussies and be stad!

The Wirtshaus zur Brezn in Munich is one of my favorite addresses for authentic Bavarian cuisine. I've been there many times and have never been disappointed. The dishes are traditional and prepared with a lot of love. A special recommendation are the Käsespätzle and the Kaiserschmarrn, which are perfectly prepared. If you want to enjoy Bavarian specialties in a cozy atmosphere, this is the right place for you.

Waiter tried to cheat me and my friend when we paid the bill. In the end we each overpaid 10€ on a bill of 30€.

“Sorry the service was so bad!” A saying that I got at the end just because I didn't leave a tip... cheeky! For 18€ you also got ONE schnitzel with a bit of potato salad (tasted like you bought it)..mhmm. The service itself was slow and not attentive!!!. No need to appear again. I'd rather go to the kebab next door...

We were a party of 4 Adults and a 11.5 month old baby. We booked prior as they recommend this online as it is very busy place. When we arrived, the lovely gent advised that upstairs is very warm and he recommended downstairs, we were so glad as my boy is not great with heat nor am I. We walked up later to look at the architecture and it was very, very warm indeed. The food was very good, we ate everything on our plate. The food is traditional bavarian cuisine and I would definitely recommend this place for that authentic taste of Bavaria. The service was quick and efficient, kept checking on us to make sure we are not low on drinks etc. I had the venison roast, my partner had the knuckle, his parents had the ribs and our little boy had the Spätzle which he absolutely loved. Great atmosphere

What a great place. I went looking for a traditional breakfast and this was the place. Weißwurst, brezeln und weißbier with great service and an incredible atmosphere. Grateful to the people for working on a Sunday morning. Perfect Bavarian experience.

The pork knuckle was spectacular, went great with the mochi like potato dumplings and brown sauce. Loved the meatloaf and delicious Käsespätzle (German mac and cheese). The taste here was just so local and spot on.

We were here to eat and everything tasted delicious, whether roast pork, pretzel dumpling salad, or salad with goat cheese and the Kaiserschmarrn was also super tasty. We'd love to come back❤️👍

Good restaurant right on Leopoldstrasse. The food was traditionally Bavarian, the service was courteous and there is also an option to sit outside in the summer, even though it is right next to the street.

We celebrated our company Christmas party in the pub and were absolutely thrilled with everything. The communication and the offer for 60 people was very good. The menu selection and flexibility was outstanding. The service was first class, the waiters always made sure that you had something to drink and politely asked if you wanted anything else. The starter, main course and dessert meals came on point and everyone got their food at the same time. The taste was very good and the plates were an eye-catcher. Big praise to the owner, the kitchen and the staff. Any time!

We were seated at a table in the farthest corner and then waited for 15 minutes without even being given a card. Then we left again...

If you want the full traditional Bavarian experience, this is the place to come! I’ve come here a few times now and the food is always great and the service very friendly! The only thing to keep in mind is that it can get somewhat loud during peak times on the upper floor - which is often typical for a “Wirtshaus” due to it being nice and cozy without high ceilings or large spaces. This also adds to the traditional experience though and so, I recommend checking out this place :)

I had lunch with my friend at the BREZN inn on November 25, 2024. I ordered a quarter of duck with dumplings and red cabbage. The duck tasted OLD, like a WET DOG, the red cabbage was watery and tasted of NOTHING.

We were so looking forward to the inn. Unfortunately, things turned out differently than expected. Even though the lady behind the counter saw us coming, we had to wait at the entrance for 10 minutes until she finally came. She then sent us upstairs where we had to wait again to get our reserved table. The waiters were correct, but very taciturn due to their lack of language skills. Questions could not be answered. The menu met expectations. The food was okay, but we would have expected better quality for this price. The location is beautiful, although the waiters really have to work hard to bring the food and drinks from the bottom up. Fitness included. Basically, we would have been happy about the warmth and communication that is usual in a pub. Munich offers significantly better alternatives here.

The food was OK. I would have liked steak knives for the meat. It was difficult to cut through. It tasted good, the cheese spaetzle was tasty, but lukewarm. Our waiter wasn't present at all. He took our order in a half-distracted manner and didn't ask once if everything was okay. Not even at the end. Other colleagues of his were very friendly and smiled.

Was here for dinner. Was a total disappointment! It's not what it used to be! The main course “venison ragout with hazelnut spaetzle” was served in a dirty plate! - Hazelnut has zero taste, probably only looks good in the name. Tasteful and prepared like in the canteen! Highly priced for that! Then Kaiserschmarrn was actually an egg omelette with powdered sugar - there were far too many eggs in it, which you could see and tasted strong. It was probably my worst Kaiserschmarrn ever! And it was because of him that I came to this restaurant. The only good thing was the friendly service. Conclusion: Quality in the kitchen has been reduced, but prices have been raised!! Expensive disappointment! 40 euros just for food for one person is not a small amount. (I'm happy to pay for quality, but not for that!) Don't come back again.

Most of the waiters were courteous and friendly! A man with a black beard and thinning hair worked behind the counter, who was unfortunately really unfriendly. I was really surprised that you could turn away your guests so rudely. It's a shame, because otherwise I think the brewery is fine. Therefore unfortunately only one star.

Good roast pork (piggy bank) as a lunch special. The Wirtshaus zur Brezn offers a good selection for lunch. The portion of roast pork with dumplings, dark beer sauce and crispy crust for €13.50 tasted very good and was fairly priced for the portion size. However, I find the drink prices at €5.50 for a beer and €2.50 for an espresso to be too high for a pub despite the location. The ambience is inviting, but the music in the background bothered me personally. The service was quick, friendly if quite non-committal.

Arrived and got a seat straight away without a reservation. Drinks were brought quickly and so was the food. Only the side salad came very late, by which time I had almost finished the main course. We ate in a pan with various things on it (for 2 people). The sausages were good. The duck was good, but unfortunately a bit cold. One sauce (out of two) had hardly any taste, the other was delicious. The knuckle was a bit dry inside. The red cabbage was very tasty. The potato dumplings tasted very good. The bread dumplings were “ok”. The side salad came late but was good. A little too much vinegar for my taste. I would eat here again and try a different dish. I would give the food a 5/10, which is unfortunately just mediocre. But overall a great shop and friendly staff.
