Der Hufnagel in München

I've been coming here for 30 years. Schnitzel used to be nice and juicy and delicious. I was here again recently, Schnitzel is dry. Portions are okay, but unfortunately not as tasty as they used to be. The quality has declined. Service is okay. But for the prices, I won't be back anytime soon.

I was lured there yesterday under the pretext of it being an Austrian evening, and apart from a few decorations with flags, that was it. The menu was limited and the food was terrible. Grandma's mushroom ragout was canned mushrooms and you could have shot window panes through the dumplings. The schnitzel in dark beer sauce was similar. The roast dumplings were just a hard mush. The music was so loud all the guests turned the noise level up quite a bit and it made conversation at the table almost impossible as we were sitting close to the loudspeakers. When asked if I enjoyed my meal, I replied no. But the staff didn't offer any apologies or anything else. Three adults to eat, two starters, three main courses, and three drinks. €96 is a bit steep. There are better restaurants in Munich.

We ate there twice during our vacation because the food was so good. The service was extremely friendly, helpful, attentive, and accommodating. The food was great. You could even say perfect. The restaurant is very lovingly designed, both inside and out. The beer garden with its wooden benches is highly recommended, especially on warm days. It's a lovely place to sit and unwind after dinner. Hufnagel is highly recommended and definitely worth a visit.

Incredibly good food. Prices are high, but appropriate for the quality. Our server deserves special mention—he was incredibly attentive, humorous, and courteous. The visit was truly worthwhile for us, and we had a lovely evening.

I celebrated my anniversary in a small group – the table was beautifully set, the food was delicious, and the service was charming and patient. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. A table was reserved in the back (very nice) and we had plenty of peace and quiet. We would be happy to go again any time. Even the advance coordination of details was perfect, and the service was fantastic.

I have to write something again when the owner answers. I just saw it by chance. The rating was a google query but then I'll write something about it. The food and service were rather poor back then. We had a family celebration and had a person in a wheelchair with us - we don't know the restaurant - there may be a back entrance but we had to carry the person up 3 steps at the front. We had made a special reservation with a wheelchair and were not told anything about it. We were supposed to be able to go up first but then sit downstairs even though, as I said, we had made a special reservation for a wheelchair. The owner dreams of 20 parking spaces. The small space next door was packed and there can never be 20 cars there. It was bad back then, but the answer doesn't make it any better.

Löwenbräu beer. We sat in the beer garden, which is the courtyard of a former agricultural business, so no one with trees. Three shandy halfs cost 16.40 (without tip). Food good but a bit expensive.

The food is great, but you have to bring your time because it sometimes takes too long from the time you order to the time you eat. Service could smile a little more and have fun at work, even if it's a bad day. The inns were more inviting 😉

I celebrated my 65th birthday with 14 guests on Saturday. A huge thank you to the kitchen staff. Everyone chose their meal from the menu, and even though the dishes were so varied, everything arrived at the table at the same time. AND everyone absolutely loved it. Thanks also to the service staff. We all appreciated your attentiveness and good mood. Thanks also for your dessert surprise for the birthday boy. I'm starting my new year with such enthusiasm.

Sunday brunch is very tasty. The delay of warm food towards lunchtime is a good thing, as it is then fresh and hot and has not been sitting around since early in the morning.

Even though it was a sad occasion for a memorial service, you can still say that it was a successful conclusion. As always, the food is very good and the service leaves nothing to be desired! Gladly again!

This was my third time at Hufnagel with my family and, as always, it was a pleasure. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food is large portions. We were able to enjoy the sun on our necks in a small winter garden at the beginning of March. Last summer we also sat outside in the small beer garden, which is also very nice. Generally a very pleasant experience every time and can only be recommended.

Recommended for brunch! I haven't had brunch in a long time and at Hufnagel you'll find something for every taste! There was a very large selection of everything: breakfast, lunch, sweets. All food was of good quality and always refilled quickly if something ran out. Obazdn and pork roast were very good!

Very nice service, great service. Celebrated my great aunt's 95th birthday there. The food came quickly and everyone at the table got their food almost at the same time. The food was very tasty.

We were here for brunch for the first time today and all six people were super excited. The selection at the breakfast buffet was extensive and imaginative beyond standard, constantly well refilled, various delicious lunch dishes and a plentiful selection of desserts. Everything was super tasty. The staff very attentive and friendly. We'll be back.

We had a lovely evening at Hufnagel. Super friendly and humorous waiters, top food and a pleasant atmosphere. As a guest you feel in good hands here. The selection of food is completely sufficient and everyone will find something here. You won't be overwhelmed by the now ubiquitous burger menu either. There are still dishes here as you would expect from the description. Bavarian - Austrian. Everything great. Did we notice anything in particular?! In any case, the wheat beer spritz and the waiter with an Austrian touch who very humorously sold us round after round of it. 😎We would love to come back to eat here. !!

"A culinary masterpiece in the south of Munich - a visit to Hufnagel is an absolute must!" I was completely amazed by the Hufnagel restaurant in Munich – both with its cuisine and its unique charm! From the first minute you feel at home in this rustic restaurant. The ambience is a fascinating mix of traditional Bavarian style and a cozy, almost familiar atmosphere. The rustic interior invites you to linger and you immediately notice that tradition is maintained here with love. But the real highlight of the evening was of course the food. Every dish is a delight! The menu offers an excellent selection of Bavarian specialties, modernized with a sophisticated Asian twist. Especially the mushrooms with dumplings, which have a very special taste, were an absolute taste experience. The chocolate cake with a liquid center was to die for. And what makes the whole thing even more outstanding: the service! The service was absolutely top – warm, attentive and with a keen sense of the right moment. Jenny took fantastic care of our every need; you feel completely taken care of without it seeming intrusive. The service here makes a significant contribution to making the experience at Hufnagel an unforgettable evening. All in all, I can only warmly recommend the hoof nail. If you are looking for a restaurant that combines excellent food, outstanding service and a rustic, authentic ambience, you should definitely reserve a table. A real insider tip in Munich!

We can't recommend celebrating a birthday at Hufnagel; I asked for a simple white tablecloth (at the request of my 88-year-old grandma, whose birthday was that day). An additional €40 was charged for a simple white tablecloth, a green branch in the middle and cloth napkins. We weren't offered anything more for our 88th birthday and for the +40€ surcharge (~5€ per person), very disappointing.

We had brunch, it wasn't bad, but overpriced for the price.

Was there with some friends, but in conclusion I won't be visiting the restaurant again. The taste of the Kaiserschmarrn was very good, but I was annoyed by the significant variation in portion size. Especially since the prices really shouldn't be underestimated. This was also evident with the cheese spaetzle, which gave my friends a very surprised/disappointed look when they saw the portion from the next table after they were served theirs. Furthermore, if the guests are anxious to come back, I would not recommend that the waitress belittle the lactose-free cocoa (with oat milk) in such a way and badmouth it while I am looking for the customer in question, since they are ultimately paying for it and this request is also the same was fulfilled by the restaurant. Even if this was meant to be funny, it probably won't go down well with the person in question. Except for this very unpleasant situation, the waiters were very nice, funny and entertaining, actually a great, pleasant atmosphere.

We went for Christmas brunch. For many who also enjoyed it, it might be a bit tight.

Top address for a super cozy and very tasty dinner. We had the pork knuckle and the mountaineering schnitzel (from the scavenger hunt menu on Sunday) as a main course and the Kaiserschmarren as a dessert. Everything was great without any ifs and buts. The very attentive service staff also deserve special praise!!! Many thanks to the whole Hufnagel team!!

Wir waren zum Weihnachtsbrunch. Nicht zu empfehlen, die Bedienung oben war total überfordert, es war sehr eng, es wurde nicht aufgefüllt, man musste immer was sagen. Um trinken zu bestellen, musste man immer vor zur Bedienung laufen.. Die Essensauswahl für 39 Euro ist lächerlich. Kinder von 6 bis 12 zahlen 22 Euro, unverschämt. Um 12:45 Uhr wurde man erinnert, dass man jetzt dann gehen muss…. Nie wieder zum brunchen dort hin. Wir haben zu zweit 110 Euro gezahlt, lächerlich für das was es gab. Eine Wasserflasche (1 l) hat 8,20 gekostet ….

The food was very, very tasty and the staff was friendly. Basically, the inn has a very nice atmosphere, which was marred yesterday by singing and shouting SG Dynamo fans. Dear hosts, do yourself and your guests a favor and use your house rules when doing something like this.

2022 A very nice restaurant with a great beer garden under the trees. My recommendation: onion roast with fried potatoes. 👍🏻 2024 Today we were here again for the traditional business lunch, but what happened to us today is the last straw! The waiter met us at the door and asked if we weren't satisfied. Me: why? Him: yes, because you didn't give me a tip at all. Me: sorry, unfortunately that's not possible, my accounting needs an invoice with the VAT and I would have to have it all signed off, so there are no more tips. But I think it's totally stupid to demand a tip like that. My customers immediately said, OK, let's go to another restaurant in the future! Should be turned off by the owner.

Be careful and don't let yourself be taken for a ride!!!!: The "natural fried schnitzel from the grill" .... either made from turkey or pork loin has NOTHING to do with pork loin and is just a perfectly normal cream schnitzel. Why it is described this way I leave it to the reader's imagination.

Not what I’m used to from Bavarian portions. Went on a Sunday for their schnitzel special but felt like I was given half a portion instead. We also ordered kaiserschmarrn for dessert. These were very dense and not at all fluffy. Service was good and the restaurant has a traditional and nice atmosphere. For the price, to food quantity and quality was underwhelming. Other then that, the experience was good.

Always a must when we are in Munich. The best Kaiserschmarren is here! We can also recommend the chillout salad. The ambience is also great. You feel a bit like you're in a cabin in the mountains. Don't forget the greetings from the kitchen, which are always delicious. Overall a 10/10

Always great there! :) We celebrated our wedding with around 100 guests at Hufnagel. It was really crazy. The guests were all very enthusiastic. The planning in advance was very uncomplicated and everything was made possible. Many thanks again to the whole team for this unforgettable day! We've been there many times before for dinner in small groups and will do it again as often as possible. See you soon.

All in all, I thought it was an okay experience. I found the pork knuckle tasty but a bit too salty. The onion roast roast also tasted good but was a bit tough. Unfortunately there was no snack plate in the menu as a starter. The Kaiserschmarrn, on the other hand, was very tasty! I found the drink prices to be very reasonable, especially for the homemade lemonades. The atmosphere is very fitting for a pub: not too fancy, but very simple and tasteful! Can already recommend a visit.

We arrived very late as a reservation on OpenTable was available at 9:45 p.m. The kitchen usually closed at 10 p.m. We were still given a very warm welcome and were able to enjoy a good and cozy dinner with “a little greeting from the kitchen”. Thank you !

Brunch buffet, very tasty and rich, but at just under €40/adult the price is also high, as neither cappuccino nor fresh orange juice are included in the price. In fairness: There was Prosecco at the buffet and filter coffee.

Nice place. Big group but excellent service from this young guy. Food is fresh and well prepared: no meat swimming in fat but also no culinary surprises. Honest is probably the word to describe it. Seated at the top floor and with a bigger crowd it get's really warm and opening the small windows does not really help. But that's the only remark :-)

Starter: Sweet potato soup from a jar *5 stars* Main course: Munich schnitzel with fries Dessert: Kaiserschmarrn with raisins *5 stars* I have to say, I'm still totally blown away. I haven't eaten something as good and excellent as I did here in a long time. The trip from Augsburg to Munich was worth it. One request, the correct menu is missing on the website. We hesitated a bit because of this, but were rewarded with a culinary meal. Thanks to the chef for this culinary delight 👍 We'll be back

I recently celebrated my birthday here with 25 people and we were all completely thrilled by both the delicious buffet and the magical ambience with lots of loving details (e.g. beautiful water bottles with “loud or quiet” labels 😂). I would specifically like to mention the attentive, helpful crew of employees, who in turn praised the special boss and the good working atmosphere. You can feel this great atmosphere as a guest, so I can warmly recommend the Hufnagel!
