Paulaner am Nockherberg in München

What's the hype about? It's a beer garden, nothing more. All the seats in the front are reserved for hours, but no one shows up. You can't get your food or drink in the back until 4 p.m. Who likes that?

Unfortunately, there's a skewer at the entrance, polluting the entire beer garden; it should be in the back corner. Unfortunately, it's still closed today at 12:30, August 11th.

The beer garden has seen better days. It wasn't busy, but there were still used dishes and mugs lying around everywhere. A feast for the flies and wasps. The staff seemed to be having an even better time at the smoking table among the guests.

After we had picked up food and drinks and tried to pay with a voucher, we were told it wasn't valid in the beer garden and couldn't be used. Even though the voucher stated that it was valid in the beer garden, this meant the serviced, demarcated, and fully reserved area at that time. The operator was unable to accommodate us. "They couldn't charge for it. They didn't have a reader." We won't be coming back; there are plenty of alternatives.

Roast pork in a traditional beer garden shouldn't be without broccoli, chanterelle mushrooms, and breaded potato dumplings. Especially since the base was actually quite good, even if the price, at over €20 including coleslaw, wasn't exactly a bargain. The service and ambiance were very good.

I was there with the family during Christmass. Definitely needs a reservation before going. The food is good with many meat options and the service equally good. The decoration and the facilities are also very pleasant. Recommended for nice and quality family lunch or dinners. And of course the beer is one of the best ever.

I'd like to give the service even more stars. Great waiter, excellent food, and very attentive and friendly service. Greetings to Kati from Upper Palatinate. Very interesting location. The beer garden looked great; we'll visit it soon when the weather is nice. They even had a photo booth, which was great fun. The food was very, very tasty. There were some unusual drinks on the menu. I had a great Wiesen lemonade.

Wir waren seit langem mal wieder im Nockerberg. Mit Freunden aus Honolulu and Sydney. Ein sehr schöner Avend mit leckerem Essen, Bier und Wein. Supergroße Portionen! Faire Preise und toller Service. Auch Dank Kati, die alles im Griff hat im Lokal. Respekt!

Very big and modern yet food menu is VERYYYY limited and VERY expensive....

The food is always excellent! The best Kaiserschmarren of my life 🙌🏼 The self-service is very good, and the kitchen works flawlessly. Everything is very organized, and the food is served promptly. The staff is always cheerful and friendly. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and it's easy to have a good conversation.

Went here for dinner with a large group. Unfortunately we had to sit inside due to rain. Our service was pretty good though another waiter was unnecessarily rude to us. There were 3 options for vegetarian (1 vegan). The jackfruit goulash was good. It's all of course on the more expensive side. Goulash =24€, 0.5l beer =5,90. It's good to go for a "Biergarten" experience but not a place that I would go back to for food.

We had a reservation for a small after-wedding party. The food was good but nothing special. The price of the roast pork was okay, but everything else was overpriced; you're paying more for the name than the food. I also think the beer, at €6.20, is borderline excessive. Everything was very nice until 7:40 p.m., when the waiter came and casually told us that we had to leave because the table was reserved for someone else after 8 p.m. So our party was unfortunately cut short, and we were all very disappointed. This is an absolute disgrace. I will definitely not recommend this restaurant, but the tourists will come.

We've been there many times and love the roast pork with coleslaw. Simply excellent! But the fact that they only serve small portions for children or seniors isn't modern! Maybe you want to watch your figure even in middle age! Or simply not eat so much meat! This urgently needs to be updated!!!

Food is okay but expensive compared to other German restaurants. Had the ribs and it was quite dry. Service is very slow and chaotic. Waited forever to get seated and to be served. My salad was missing and they brought it only when I finished my main. There are better German restaurants in Munich.

Paulaner. A big name from which you'd expect a lot, especially given the prices. It was a very nice location with mediocre food and at times unfriendly service. I've never eaten such tough and dry roast pork. If the drinks hadn't already been so outrageously expensive, I would have ordered a second drink to wash down the soles of my shoes. Very disappointing and definitely not recommended.

Richtig gutes Essen - nicht nur typisch bayerisch - und auch noch richtig viel davon. Auch auf Sonderwünsche (Laktosefrei) geht das freundliche Personal ein. Auch bei einem plötzlichen Regenguss verliert niemand die Ruhe und wir wurden problemlos ins Trockene umgesiedelt. Das Entrecote und die marinierten Erdbeeren kann ich wirklich empfehlen - das Bier ist ohnehin über jeden Zweifel erhaben.

We had a fantastic evening at the Paulaner am Nockherberg. From an excellent snack to what was probably the best Kaiserschmarrn in town, to first-class service. A fantastic beer garden with friendly staff and a great selection of delicious food. We've been here many times for business, and I highly recommend it to everyone! It's a great location for a party or dinner. The beer garden is super nice, and the seating inside is great too. I recommend the Wiener Schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn, and a Paulaner Spezi (a typical Austrian dish). But you can also easily order other dishes there; the service is very competent, and customizations are also possible!

After our last visit two years ago, we said never again. But since our regular restaurant was closed for a private event, we thought, maybe a second chance? A disaster from the start! Arrogant and very unfriendly staff at the reception made us wait a very long time. They constantly walk around and simply ignore us. We were seated at the back of the restaurant, where all the tourists seem to sit. We asked for a table near the front and were told the restaurant was fully booked. (There was one table available all night.) The service was very slow and the food was only OK. Our server was at least nice. Simple German food quality, but much more expensive than other restaurants in Germany. For example, 2 main courses, 2 beers, and 2 red wines, and the bill was €100 with tip! We definitely wouldn't recommend it, and we all work for large German companies and will never have a team event or corporate event here.

Food was really good. It was a very busy place so considering that service was pretty good. Portions are generous typically all over and this was no exception. The atmosphere and decor were very nice. Would definitely recommend it to try out if you are in Munich!

The food is really substandard, the service is on the edge of being rude. And it is exceptionally pricey. There are really a lot better Biergartens in and around Munich. They really try to squeeze out as much money as they can from the name and the location.

It's been a while since we've been to the Paulaner beer garden at Nockherberg, but our visit yesterday was a truly pleasant surprise. While many beer gardens in Munich often offer a "same old thing" that's uninspiring and served at high prices, the Paulaner beer garden at Nockherberg stands out. The prices are in the typical Munich range, but the quality of the food is truly outstanding. The dishes are lovingly prepared and a true highlight. The fried chicken salad is a true work of art – both visually and taste-wise. The half chicken was juicy and tender, and the fries made from fresh potatoes were crispy and a delight. We're particularly pleased that some organic dishes are also available. The beer is served in steins, which completes the experience. The relaxed atmosphere in the beer garden invites you to linger – ideal for unwinding after a stressful day at work. We will definitely visit the Paulaner at Nockherberg again. Keep up the good work! You stand out clearly from other beer gardens in Munich and provide a truly enjoyable experience.

We had a lovely lunch with the family. The outdoor seating is beautiful, shaded by large trees, the food was excellent, and the staff extremely friendly. We'd love to come back! Highly recommended.

Vorspeisen Platten, Hauptgerichte wie das Wiener Schnitzel konnten ebenso überzeugen wie der gute Service, das Ambiente eines großen Biertempel und natürlich das Bier selbst. Es gibt immer eigene naturtrübe Bierkreationen. Es eignet sich auf Grund der Platzes der einzelnen Tische auch für Familien. Bioprodukte, nachhaltige Produkte etc. Haben auch einen höheren Preis, den ich hier für gerechtfertigt halte.

Update: I was there again yesterday: spare ribs with salad for €24 and a burger for €27 (??), which was apparently very good. The service was very good. I find the food in the waitress area quite expensive; reservations seem to be only available online – if you're calling, it should be possible to record the information and not cut off the customer. The food is beautifully presented, but the taste is somewhat disappointing. The beer is Paulaner, after all…

What a great time to sit outside and enjoy a great variety of beer and food… worth the stop and enjoy for as long as you want

We came here for a big team dinner event. Big space indoors and outdoors. Great decor and vibes. Nice lightning and ambience. Expensive but very good delicious food with large portions. The appetizers were tasty and goes well with the Paulaner dunkel beer. The main courses were very large in portion and we were all filled to the brim. We had a great time and it fulfilled my expectations. Will definitely come back again when I visit Munich.

6:45 p.m.: Outside in the waiting area, about half the tables are occupied. I sit down at a free table, but two waiters immediately send me away, telling me that everything is reserved. I go to another restaurant and come back about an hour and a half later. There are still free seats/tables. So, it wouldn't have been a problem to serve me a meal and drinks. But you apparently don't feel the need for a single guest. Pretty arrogant.

Schade, leider hat der nockherberg seine Gemütlichkeit verloren. Früher urig und als stammbiergarten prädestiniert, heute leider nur noch schickimicki, essen Durchschnitt und überteuert, wiener schnitzel aus der Fritteuse, lecker.... dazu auch mal gerne grantige Bedienungen. Es war nach langer Zeit wieder mal ein Versuch, aber künftig lassen wir das bleiben. sehr sehr schade.... Für das Geld kauf ich mir das Kalbfleisch lieber bei meinem Metzger, nehm auf den Rückweg noch einen Wein aus südtirol mit und mache es mir in entspannter Atmosphäre auf dem Balkon gemütlich.

It takes a special type of genius to take the best place in Munich and turn it into the worst, but this is what has been achieved. Returning here after 7 years, what do we find? Building: in an act of unspeakably barbaric vandalism, the inside has been ripped apart and a funky round bit added, thus completely ruining the conceptual integrity of the building. Beer: the beer here before was undoubtedly the best in Munich and in the top 5 in Germany; an incredible completely uncarbonated cloudy Keller bier that I would come here regularly just to drink. It's now been replaced by something which, while not too bad as such, isn't fit to lace the boots of the old beer; quite gassy and bland and hardly distinguishable from your average Paulaner rubbish. Food: the schnitzel here used to be the best in Munich. Now? It's obviously pre-made because the crust, smelling of stale oil, is completely detached from the bland overcooked beef. To add insult to injury, they charge 28 Euros for it. 28!!! To put that in context, Figlmüller, the best place in Vienna, only charge 18!!! What a disgrace. I didn't even get a chance to explain this, as we just got a muttered "das schmeckt" without even looking at us and the plates snatched away before I had a change to speak. Of course there was no query as to why 80% of the schnitzel was untouched; nobody could care less, it's not that sort of place. Whoever is responsible for ruining the old Nockherberg should hang their head in shame.

Huge portions! Good selection of drinks. And especially, greeeeat atmosphere! Its a very pretty beergarden and very green.

An absolute delight to always be back at the Paulaner in Munich! The place is vast, vibrant and filled with life. With a vast variety of seating spaces and beautifully curated menu options, this place is an absolute Bavarian glory! Loved their vegan options and enjoyed the experience.

Paulaner am Nockherberg is a solid spot for classic Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed… exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Munich beer garden. Their schnitzel is pretty good and everything on the menu delivers those familiar, comforting flavors.

We've been attending the Starbierfest for many, many years. We remember the old Nockherberg before it burned down. We always had fun and enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, this year, as in the previous year, we noticed that the liter of beer was very poorly filled. Sometimes only 50% full. Even informing the wait staff didn't improve the situation. We were told to go to the tap master ourselves. An email to customer service received no response. Is it too much to ask if you only want what you paid for?

Bereits früh am Vormittag starteten wir eine Tagung mit ca. 350Teilnehmern. Das Paulaner-Nockherberg empfing uns mit einer großzügigen Lobby mit Möglichkeit Snacks und Getränke zu kaufen und zu konsumieren und einem Toll Ausgestatteten Tagungssaal. Ausgestattet mit modernster Technik - abgehängte Großbildschirme an der Decke, Tolle Bühnentechnik, Lautsprecher- /Ton- und Präsentationstechnik liessen keine Wünsche offen. Zur Abendveranstaltung war der Saal mit langen Tischen ausgestattet, es wurden Vorspeisenbretter aufgestellt, von denen man sich im Rahmen eines Tischbuffets bedienen konnte. Als Hauptgericht gab es „Böfflamott“, sehr weich geschmort mit aromatischer Sauce, aber auch alternativ ein Sellerieschnitzel für die Vegetarier-Fraktion. Das Dessert wurde in kleinen Weck-Gläsern serviert. Alles unaufdringlich, aufmerksam und zügig serviert. Nachservice und Getränkeversorgung waren vorbildlich! Sehr nettes und freundliches Service-Team.

The unfiltered Helles here was a masterpiece! It was naturally fresh and offered a rich malt aroma. And we could sense the passion for quality in the cleanliness of the glasses.

A huge disaster and no organization. The website says no reservations, but yesterday for the Champions League final, security didn't let us in, asking for reservations, even though you could see empty seats from outside and people were leaving in the meantime. 🤔 They even called the police. I will never go back to the place. Bad experience

I had a very bad experience at this venue. We were there to watch football. My partner left briefly, but was refused re-entry. Despite trying to explain the situation, I was not treated with any kind of compassion or understanding. The staff and management behaved extremely unprofessionally and disrespectfully. I will never visit this venue again and absolutely cannot recommend it.

In general, it has a simple and limited menu. It is very enjoyable to sit in the garden with fried chicken, potatoes and beer, especially if the weather is nice. On the other hand, the staff is quite troublesome, they make unnecessary jokes and then behave badly. Therefore, communication should be limited. Otherwise, it can be impertinent.

I've lived in Munich for several years and have visited almost every brewery many times. So far, none have come close to Paulaner am Nockherberg in terms of quality, taste, value, and friendly service. Hats off to the team. Paulaner am Nockherberg is absolutely top-notch! Visit to the beer garden. A clear selection of hot and cold dishes. But everything was extremely good. Also beautifully presented on the plate, rather unusual for a beer garden. In my opinion, the best beer garden in Munich. The location of the restaurant and beer garden is beautiful. The dining rooms are modern, combining Bavarian tradition. The huge bar, including a show brewery, is impressive. You are shown to your table by one of the always very friendly staff members, who serve you very well with charm and humor. A large selection of different beers is available. With a "beer tasting" of five or ten different beers, you can taste your favorite. The menu is not overly extensive. However, this is reflected in the absolutely top quality of the food. Everything here is fresh and homemade. It's Michelin-star quality! This quality, along with the excellent presentation of the food, justifies the slightly higher prices. Everything is absolutely perfect.

No, there was no food in the beer garden, despite the acceptable weather. I don't understand, closing time is 7 pm!!! Pure disappointment.

If the beer were as cold as the welcome, it might have earned another star. We were shown a table without a greeting and with a grumpy expression. The inn's novel and certainly expensive design is a matter of taste. I find it very inappropriate for a traditional and historic "brewery." Completely untypical for Munich, no "Helles" is offered. There's only wheat beer and a very spicy, naturally cloudy cellar beer. Also a matter of taste... I don't like it. We probably won't become regulars here.

Unfortunately 0 stars are not possible. After the already half-filled stone jug was half drunk, we discovered bird shit stuck to the bottom of the jug. When we complained it was said that it belongs to the Steinkrug. This is the ultimate insolence, unhygienic and shameless. Only after discussion was a small sip added and asked whether that was really necessary now. Never again

Rarely have such unfriendly service been served in both beer gardens. Be it from the waiters or when serving food. Obatzdn in the beer garden is not recommended.

Holiday in Bavaria. Setting up the maypole. Visit the beer garden. Nice weather has been forecast for days. All of this was probably unforeseeable for the current management of the Nockerberg Biergarten. 7:00 p.m. Pretzels out, Brozeitbrettl out, Obatzter out. Something like that shouldn't happen in a Munich beer garden and especially on the Nockerberg; especially not with ambitious prices of well over €10 for the measure. The offers that seem to have run out are beer garden basics, dear operators! Will you run out of beer next? I've been a regular for more than 35 years, but I've never experienced such flat management performance. At least the service is motivated, but that hardly puts this failure into perspective. Please do justice to the prices again and get significantly better!

What an impressive location! The food was very tasty, from roast pork to Kaiserschmarrn. The freshly tapped beer was the best I've ever drunk and there were quite a few for comparison ;) The service was super nice and the rooms were simply WOW. This is how I imagine tradition. 10/10

We had taken a day trip to Munich and then stopped at the Paulaner Nockherberg for dinner in the evening, as we had heard so much about it from politicians. The restaurant is very elegantly furnished and the prices are absolutely ridiculous (2 main courses, 2 normal drinks 80 €, wheat beer 6.20 €), plus there is a lot of Munich chic crowd there. The service was friendly, but forgot about us and our neighboring table for a long time. The food was brought immediately after ordering 5 minutes later. So everything is already pre-cooked and kept warm. The portion was manageable, unfortunately I didn't really get full. You just expect more for the money... But the taste was definitely delicious and the meat was extremely tender. CONCLUSION: Okay so far, but unfortunately not the expected highlight. Rather average :/

Wir hatten einen Tagesausflug in München gemacht und sind dann Abends zum Essen noch im Paulaner Nockherberg eingekehrt, da wir durch Politikerderblecken schon so viel davon gehört hatten. Das Restaurant ist sehr edel eingerichtet und die Preise absolut gesalzen (2 Hauptspeisen 2 normale Getränke 80 €, Weißbier 6,20 €), dazu viel Münchner Schickeria Publikum dort. Die Bedienung war freundlich, aber hat uns und unseren Nachbartisch erst einmal längere Zeit vergessen. Das Essen wurde sofort nach der Bestellung 5 Minuten später gebracht. Ist also alles schon vorgekocht und warm gehalten. Die Portion überschaubar, bin nicht wirklich satt geworden leider. Für das Geld erwartet man da einfach mehr.... Geschmacklich lecker war es aber definitiv und das Fleisch hauchzart. FAZIT: Soweit okay, aber auch leider nicht das erwartete Highlight. Eher Durchschnitt :/

Unfortunately, my Kaiserschmarrn wasn't in the pan long enough and was more of a pancake to cut into pieces. The waiter was there quickly at the beginning, later they were difficult to find - but always friendly. I would have expected more given the prices.

After a while we went there again for dinner with the family at Easter. We've always enjoyed coming here for special occasions, but this was probably our last visit. The quality of the food and drinks was consistently very good and the portions for meat eaters were decent. But for the vegetarians among us it was depressing. There was no longer a vegetarian salad option, not even when asked. And the pumpkin dish we ordered instead was tasty, but not nearly enough to fill us up. The quantity was more like an appetizer. At a price of 23 euros, that's annoying. That's why we will hold our family reunions somewhere else in the future.

It was a real highlight recently at the Paulaner am Nockherberg! The beer fresh from the tap is a delight, and the pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The beer garden under the chestnut trees is a dream, especially in summer. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are absolutely fine for Munich. I'd love to come back!

Nice beer garden. Food prices 30.. 40% above Munich standards but really modest quality (Münchner Schnitzel 26Eur). In the served area, 20 minutes later, everyone had their food at a small table. ..despite few guests.

I celebrated my 50th birthday in one of the private rooms (Kaminzimmer). During the planning stages I was treated very professionally by the manager who answered all my questions and gave me very good advice on how to plan the event. The tables were nicely set and the food was great. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I got the feeling that they were happy to have us as guests, and several friends also told me the same. The end result was even better than I had expected. In the end it was a really beautiful evening. Hopefully I will be around for my 60th so that I can return :)

We were here during the day on Saturday for the strong beer festival. The band hardly played at all and the atmosphere really wasn't good. Most people preferred to go out to the beer garden. A Spezi 0.5L for 7.20 EUR is really an absolute disgrace. The food and service was ok.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Paulaner am Nockerberg and it was simply fantastic! I was particularly impressed by the home-brewed beer, which tastes fresh and full-bodied – a real highlight! There was also a medium steak that was perfectly cooked - beautifully seared on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I will definitely come back and can only warmly recommend the Paulaner am Nockerberg!

Mood flops, as if you were in an English pub or Löwenbräu

Typical beer garden for Munich, the beer is €14.50 and entry is €18.50 (€4). Location and ambience very good. We didn't eat anything.

We wanted to go to the beer garden in the nice weather. At the entrance we were told that there were only seats inside. With a view of the beer garden, we could have easily sat down at a few tables. We were seated at a table inside with the words - you can look at the cauldrons 🫤. Otherwise everything was fine, only the lady at the entrance ruined our visit with her manner. Too bad

Nice atmosphere but the service is terrible, I would almost call it fraud. The beer mugs are only 2/3 full, but you can't tell from the fresh measure because they are stone mugs. If you complain you will just be ignored. Based on the comments, this doesn't seem to be an isolated case. Our bank neighbors also complained in vain. There are prices for this like at the Oktoberfest. Puke!!

Very good food, nice and very good service!

If you're allergic, it's not recommended. There's no food for people with nut allergies, which is a shame. We wanted to have a nice meal, but after ordering drinks, we were told that it's not possible to eat there if you have a severe allergy. It's very poor considering the menu states beforehand that they offer food for people with allergies.

For the strong beer festival: Positive: Food very good and friendly service, delicious strong beer Negative: I'm relatively sure that it comes from above as a requirement like at the Oktoberfest, but I still find it a mess to be honest. I'm willing to pay the prices, but I think it's a shame that the innkeepers seem to have no pride and that every cent of profit is placed above the visitor experience. As a student, the prices are doubly annoying. The band is actually great at the Oktoberfest, but the music selection is an absolute disaster in my opinion. It actually has nothing to do with a folk festival or Oktoberfest and all the classics that everyone can actually play aren't played, instead some songs from Argentina.

This is a really fancy restaurant. We had a lot of fun here,food is good, restrooms are good. I am a very picky person but the sausages were fantastic.

I don't know what was going on with the waitresses at the strong beer festival this year, but on two different evenings they started arguing about trivial things, including why you don't already have the money ready but have to get your wallet out first. And they always threaten to stop coming to the table. Like in kindergarten. This has never happened in all these years and now twice in a row. I hope this doesn't become a trend.

The bar staff has never been the best at a strong beer festival, but this year it's a disgrace! The waitress won't refill your beer for fear of not getting a new contract, and if you complain, you'll just get a yell at the bar staff. This doesn't happen at the (regular) Oktoberfest – thankfully, Keferloher is "banned" there and it's regulated by the KVR (Confederation of Beer Authorities). €14.50 for a better beer is simply disgraceful. Or as Monaco (adapting from Böttner-Salm) said: it's complete crap!

Had a Paulaner beer tasting in the cellar. Very nice place. Had an explanation from the brewer himself. Great food

Wir waren gestern zum Starkbierfest dort. Ein Bierpreis von 14,50€ ist ja mittlerweile üblich und dementsprechend ok für uns. Dass die undurchsichtigen Steinkrüge aber generell maximal nur zu drei Viertel gefüllt waren, ist eine Frechheit.

The strong beer festival in the Paulaner with light and shadow. Positive: atmosphere and people were A1, the food was good almost across the board. Neutral: the Kirchdorfer with some. very good performance, but partly. also inappropriate song selection (e.g. Taylor Swift, Coldplay) and questionable performance (especially guest singers). Negative: the hall has zero charm - it could be in Berlin or at the Ballermann and the pouring is always really bad.

You can do it, but you don't have to. I generally find it very pleasant there. The prices are now very juicy even for Munich

Once a year ok, but not comfortable. Acoustics bad.
