Paulaner am Nockherberg in München

My first time at Paulaner am Nockherberg, and I was absolutely thrilled! Kathi gave me a particularly warm welcome and even gave me a quick tour of the restaurant – that was fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful; I immediately felt welcome. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I think it was us, because we actually left the restaurant because of a horde of playing children. There were more than 10 kids, completely out of control, and that's just too much for me! I actually thought the way the staff handled the group was good, because otherwise everything was (good) as usual! Only the group of children was annoying; so many little kids simply have no business being in a restaurant on a Saturday night!! We'll gladly come back for a hearty meal or a nice half-liter of beer 😉

We went to the Paulaner am Nockherberg on Saturday evening. Unfortunately, the food wasn't a highlight for the high prices and didn't impress us. However, the restaurant's lack of friendliness towards children was particularly disappointing. Three small children were playing in a side room, which was quickly locked, preventing them from moving around. We were clearly told that playing in the restaurant was not allowed, as it was Saturday evening and other guests would otherwise leave. We would have expected more relaxed and family-friendly service, especially from a traditional inn. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant for families with children.

A fantastic restaurant in Paulaner. Good beer and good food, located away from the main tourist areas of the city. The place is modern but tastefully decorated. They also have a beer garden for when the weather is nice. Prices are high.

I'm a regular there. The food is very good quality. Also suitable for people who don't drink beer.

I arrived at 9:45 PM. The kitchen was already closed, and drinks were only served until 10:00 PM. I traveled a long distance from abroad as a customer of the brand and planned my trip based on the opening hours listed on the website (until midnight). Unfortunately, I was disappointed.

The menu selection is small. I would have expected to be able to order pork knuckle in a brewery. Unfortunately, they didn't have any. The food was tasty. I found the prices quite high. The ambiance was nicely decorated for Christmas.

I went there without a reservation, but luckily there were plenty of seats. I arrived around 3:30, but they told me I had to leave before 5:00 because they had to accommodate dinner customers. However, since it was pork, I was able to leave in an hour. As other reviews say, the schnitzel is a bit pricey ㅜㅜ It was around 60,000 won. I ordered pork something, and it was somewhere between boiled pork and pig's feet, but it was delicious!!! The staff was friendly. The view was good, the atmosphere was good, and overall, I was satisfied. ㅎㅎ The bathroom was also super clean!! I want to come back again next time I come to Germany ~~~

Welcoming place, polite and helpful staff. Good food, gourmet dishes, slightly high prices. I recommend making a reservation. It was very busy when we went, but they still managed to find us a seat even though we hadn't booked. Had we arrived later, we would have had to wait.

Quick service and delicious food

An absolutely fantastic beer garden! Very unassuming and tucked away on the outskirts, but we were very pleasantly surprised. All the staff were very friendly and hardworking. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for what you get. The beer was excellent. The restaurant is quite large, with several areas including self-service, table service, and rooms available for private events. Definitely a great place to go if you're hungry in Munich and want to enjoy a tasty beer. We'll definitely be back!

I had the vegan jackfruit goulash and wasn't very impressed. It was far too sweet, and I didn't need the extra tomato sauce at all. The mashed potatoes, however, were delicious 👌 All in all: a good idea, but not quite perfected. I wouldn't order this dish again. I was very disappointed 😕

One of the best places to eat out in Munich. Food is top quality, everything is made with special ingredients and the service is great as well. Went there for a family dinner and we had a really good time.

This restaurant exceed all expectations! I was expecting a traditional Bavarian culinary experience and it definitely wowed! We got the stewed beef, and another dish with beef and red cabbage. The depth of the flavors was phenomenal, and the service was great. We always try to order in the local language, but we obviously make mistakes, and our waitress was very kind to correct us and help us out. I would go back in a heartbeat if we had more time. We went for lunch and did not need a reservation, but I have read online if you want to go for dinner, you may need one! We visited in the winter, but I imagine their beer house and garden is packed in the summer!

Unfortunately, contrary to their claim of offering food of the highest quality, Fleur de Sel is used in one dish even though it is heavily contaminated with microplastics.

Excellent traditional cuisine with a modern twist. The venue is very modernly furnished and the staff is very friendly. The large event space offers a wide range of possibilities. The food is delicious. The ribs and pork knuckle are especially recommended.

Definetely this is one of the best restaurants in München. The food is really delicious and well prepared. The environment is very nice, very well decorated. Service is also good and prices are quite above average. Besides that, bier is amazing and Kaiserschmarrn is the best one ever!

Very lovely venue and delicious food.

Despite its size, the restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere. The Christmas decorations are also clearly a lot of work – very nice. The food is good and attractively presented. There's a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. The only downside (and this is why I'm deducting a star) is the very high price. A veal schnitzel with potato salad (which was actually quite tasty) for €34 is simply excessive. This detracts from the otherwise very positive overall impression.

Seriously the fastest food ever :)

Took a Kaiserschmarrn, topings were really great especially the Apfelmus. However the Kaiserschmarrn itself, was ultra eggy and yolky inside, without a proper crust and tasted more like an omelette…

I see why you should definitely go to Paulaner. It's on a whole other level than canned beer. You should definitely come and try it. I added salad to my schnitzel and it was absolutely delicious. It tastes like delicious pork cutlet. Be sure to try the salad. It's so refreshing. That's right, they don't sell beer glasses. Just keep that in mind.

A lovely beer garden invites you to enjoy a few liters of beer in the summer. The food is okay, but you're on your own in the beer garden. The restaurant inside offers table service and is neither exceptional nor disappointing in terms of cuisine. You can go there without hesitation. The prices are a bit steep, but still acceptable.

For a celebration with six people: The table provided was too small for six people, and despite the reservation and mentioning it was a birthday, no special consideration was given. The guests were satisfied with simple dishes like roast pork and grilled steak, but not with the more expensive options, such as vegan goulash and game dishes. Improvement is needed in terms of both taste and composition. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was great. I also particularly appreciate that the menu lists regional products and their suppliers. We will return, but in the future, we would prefer to order simpler dishes.

It's a really lovely restaurant, no question about it. The service is friendly, but not particularly attentive. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio doesn't warrant more than three stars. €24 for a vegan goulash might be acceptable, but I go to a restaurant to get a proper meal. And the portion – as you can see in the picture – is ridiculously small for that price.

We had our Christmas party at the Paulaner am Nockherberg. The restaurant was packed. Ordering drinks took a little longer than expected. However, we received our meals for 30 people almost simultaneously. The food was quite good, though in my opinion a bit too salty. Before the party, we were able to go curling. There are many lanes available for a fee.

I can only comment on the vegetarian and vegan dishes: they are absolutely delicious, always prepared with great care, and therefore look and taste fantastic. For me, this place is ideal if you have guests with diverse dietary preferences and want to enjoy a slightly more upscale Bavarian meal.

We ate in the beer garden at Paulaner am Nockherberg and were thrilled! 🍺🌳 The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Very nice location, we've been there several times. The current menu in particular lured us back after just two weeks - very creative and tasty dishes (also vegetarian)!

The four of us dined at Paulaner am Nockherberg (November 7, 2025) and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were impressed by the stylish and cozy atmosphere – typically Bavarian, but with a modern and inviting flair. For starters, we chose the Fädlesuppe (a type of pasta soup) and the pumpkin soup – both perfectly seasoned and served at the ideal temperature. The pumpkin soup, in particular, was wonderfully creamy and aromatic. For our main courses, we opted for the Wiener Schnitzel and the beef shank goulash. Both dishes were exceptionally flavorful, beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were just right. The goulash was incredibly tender, and the schnitzel was golden brown and crispy – exactly as we had hoped. For dessert, we ordered Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) – and it truly was a highlight. Light, fluffy, caramelized, and with a delicate hint of vanilla – by far the best Kaiserschmarrn we've ever eaten! Our friends were equally impressed. A huge thank you to our waitress (I've unfortunately forgotten her name; perhaps someone from Nockherberg could let us know) who looked after us attentively, warmly, and professionally throughout the entire evening. In short: A perfect evening with excellent food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Paulaner am Nockherberg is highly recommended – we will definitely be back! 🍽️🍻

First dish on the menu: "Onion roast beef with aubergine"! Excellent roast pork. Nothing else Bavarian. Somewhat affected: Boeuf à la mode in Barolo? They had run out of beer from the menu. Somewhat disappointing. RECOMMENDED, HOWEVER, FOR VEGETARIANS.

Actually, it was very, very good. There were 21 of us. The reservation was easy, the service was excellent, and the food was top quality. But the beer was definitely the best part. At the end, we had a minor issue with the bill, and they resolved it immediately and without any problems. Just as you'd expect from a Munich classic like Paulaner am Nockherberg. We'll definitely be back!

The schnitzel is a bit pricey at €34, but the overall atmosphere is excellent. I'm satisfied with the parking, atmosphere, and location.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, I went to dinner with my wife at 5:00 PM. We didn't have a reservation, but we were assigned a table, which was still acceptable at that time. As always, we received very good service and were satisfied with the service and the ambiance. Unfortunately, my meal wasn't good. My Böfflamott (pot roast beef) wasn't particularly large and was riddled with fat and tendons. I could only eat half of it. It came with a delicious sauce, some vegetables, and a whopping four (four!) dumplings. The meal costs 30 euros. Fortunately, I had something to eat later at home. After the very friendly server asked me the usual question about whether I enjoyed the meal, I said yes, but also said that I wasn't satisfied with it because it was full of fat and tendons and there were only four dumplings. The answer was that I should please report this earlier, so he could have done something. I have to admit, he's right, of course! Next time, I'll complain immediately. My wife's meal, by the way, was very good; it was a salad. In conclusion: If you're hungry, don't order the beef ragu and pay close attention to the meat, and if necessary, complain quickly.

Spent a great Sunday afternoon outside in the beer garden here during Oktoberfest. Not too crowded. Staff were friendly and food and beer were top notch.

We were here for dinner. We were assigned a table, and the waiter arrived promptly. The staff was really friendly. The food and drinks were served without long waits. The taste and quality were decent. The prices are on the higher end, but still reasonable. Overall, a definite recommendation.

Visit to the beer garden. A clear selection of hot and cold dishes. But everything was extremely good. Also beautifully presented on the plate, rather unusual for a beer garden. In my opinion, the best beer garden in Munich. The location of the restaurant and beer garden is beautiful. The dining rooms are modern, combining Bavarian tradition. The huge bar, including a show brewery, is impressive. You are shown to your table by one of the always very friendly staff members, who serve you very well with charm and humor. A large selection of different beers is available. With a "beer tasting" of five or ten different beers, you can taste your favorite. The menu is not overly extensive. However, this is reflected in the absolutely top quality of the food. Everything here is fresh and homemade. It's Michelin-star quality! This quality, along with the excellent presentation of the food, justifies the slightly higher prices. Everything is absolutely perfect.

Very disappointed, wanted to redeem Oktoberfest vouchers, so we went to the restaurant today. The venison leg was tough, and the portions were rather meager for the price. I ate it because I was hungry. I left some of the tough stuff on my plate. The waiter offered us a Kaiser Schmarren, but we politely declined. Paulaner actually charged full price for it because the venison was already nibbled. I left half of it behind. I feel so sorry for them, it looks great on the outside...

The atmosphere is surprisingly nice and cosy. 100% Bavarian vibe, loud but warm. We were there around 2pm. I've eaten a lot of Bavarian foods, and I was also here 3 years ago. I must say that I enjoyed my food, but my two companions, who were from Munich, were a bit disappointed with the food they ordered. My friend ordered a pfannkuchen suppe, while I and our other friend only ordered a main dish. The appetiser of our friend was served at the same time as our main dish; that meant that we were already done with our main meal, and our friend was still waiting for his main dish. Overall the restaurant is still worth a try!

Real nice restaurant and beergarden, super nice interior, impeccable service. Lots of Bavarian history - the regulars have their private steins locked up here. Kind of pricey, though, bring sufficient cash.

Visited on Sunday 24th August 2025. Had planned to visit for a while to sample the Paulaner Knockherberg unfiltered Hell. The outdoor Biergarten is something to behold. Amazing wooden tables just a skip from the self service canteen area. The beer did not disappoint. Served in authentic Paulaner Steins and as smooth as silk. Proper liquid gold on the tongue. I will not try to describe the taste but it is every bit as great as my favourite, Augustiner Edelstof. Paulaner am Nockherberg is a must visit. Pure and simple. Put it on your München itinerary.

A great restaurant and a fantastic brewery. We were a group of over 40 people and ate dinner in the beer garden. The appetizers and main course were good. We also enjoyed the beer🍺 (we tried several varieties). The waiter was very nice.

The Paulaner am Nockherberg is a true highlight for beer lovers, offering a unique combination of traditional brewing and a cozy, inviting ambiance. The food and drinks are always great! The service is friendly, too. Sure, it can be loud when it's busy, but it's still always worth a visit.

Twenty years ago, the owner brewed a truly fresh brewery beer here; unfortunately, today, there's only a very bland attempt at a home-brewed beer. Today's brewmaster probably sees this more as a creation in the spirit of the craft beer craze, rather than as a down-to-earth beverage. The regular Paulaner wheat beer costs €6.20 here, which you can find almost everywhere in Munich—and everywhere else in Germany—for much less. And a beer garden with assigned seating... nothing more needs to be said!

What's the hype about? It's a beer garden, nothing more. All the seats in the front are reserved for hours, but no one shows up. You can't get your food or drink in the back until 4 p.m. Who likes that?

Unfortunately, there's a skewer at the entrance, polluting the entire beer garden; it should be in the back corner. Unfortunately, it's still closed today at 12:30, August 11th.

The beer garden has seen better days. It wasn't busy, but there were still used dishes and mugs lying around everywhere. A feast for the flies and wasps. The staff seemed to be having an even better time at the smoking table among the guests.

After we had picked up food and drinks and tried to pay with a voucher, we were told it wasn't valid in the beer garden and couldn't be used. Even though the voucher stated that it was valid in the beer garden, this meant the serviced, demarcated, and fully reserved area at that time. The operator was unable to accommodate us. "They couldn't charge for it. They didn't have a reader." We won't be coming back; there are plenty of alternatives.

Roast pork in a traditional beer garden shouldn't be without broccoli, chanterelle mushrooms, and breaded potato dumplings. Especially since the base was actually quite good, even if the price, at over €20 including coleslaw, wasn't exactly a bargain. The service and ambiance were very good.

I was there with the family during Christmass. Definitely needs a reservation before going. The food is good with many meat options and the service equally good. The decoration and the facilities are also very pleasant. Recommended for nice and quality family lunch or dinners. And of course the beer is one of the best ever.

Wir waren seit langem mal wieder im Nockerberg. Mit Freunden aus Honolulu and Sydney. Ein sehr schöner Avend mit leckerem Essen, Bier und Wein. Supergroße Portionen! Faire Preise und toller Service. Auch Dank Kati, die alles im Griff hat im Lokal. Respekt!

The food is always excellent! The best Kaiserschmarren of my life 🙌🏼 The self-service is very good, and the kitchen works flawlessly. Everything is very organized, and the food is served promptly. The staff is always cheerful and friendly. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and it's easy to have a good conversation.

Went here for dinner with a large group. Unfortunately we had to sit inside due to rain. Our service was pretty good though another waiter was unnecessarily rude to us. There were 3 options for vegetarian (1 vegan). The jackfruit goulash was good. It's all of course on the more expensive side. Goulash =24€, 0.5l beer =5,90. It's good to go for a "Biergarten" experience but not a place that I would go back to for food.

We had a reservation for a small after-wedding party. The food was good but nothing special. The price of the roast pork was okay, but everything else was overpriced; you're paying more for the name than the food. I also think the beer, at €6.20, is borderline excessive. Everything was very nice until 7:40 p.m., when the waiter came and casually told us that we had to leave because the table was reserved for someone else after 8 p.m. So our party was unfortunately cut short, and we were all very disappointed. This is an absolute disgrace. I will definitely not recommend this restaurant, but the tourists will come.

Decent place, food was good and service quick. Its not my favorite in munich, but still a solid Option.

We've been there many times and love the roast pork with coleslaw. Simply excellent! But the fact that they only serve small portions for children or seniors isn't modern! Maybe you want to watch your figure even in middle age! Or simply not eat so much meat! This urgently needs to be updated!!!

A beautifully located beer garden. It was our first time there and we were absolutely thrilled. The food was excellent, and the entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. We'll be back!

Food is okay but expensive compared to other German restaurants. Had the ribs and it was quite dry. Service is very slow and chaotic. Waited forever to get seated and to be served. My salad was missing and they brought it only when I finished my main. There are better German restaurants in Munich.

Richtig gutes Essen - nicht nur typisch bayerisch - und auch noch richtig viel davon. Auch auf Sonderwünsche (Laktosefrei) geht das freundliche Personal ein. Auch bei einem plötzlichen Regenguss verliert niemand die Ruhe und wir wurden problemlos ins Trockene umgesiedelt. Das Entrecote und die marinierten Erdbeeren kann ich wirklich empfehlen - das Bier ist ohnehin über jeden Zweifel erhaben.

Paulaner. A big name from which you'd expect a lot, especially given the prices. It was a very nice location with mediocre food and at times unfriendly service. I've never eaten such tough and dry roast pork. If the drinks hadn't already been so outrageously expensive, I would have ordered a second drink to wash down the soles of my shoes. Very disappointing and definitely not recommended.
