Paulaner am Nockherberg in München

6:45 p.m.: Outside in the waiting area, about half the tables are occupied. I sit down at a free table, but two waiters immediately send me away, telling me that everything is reserved. I go to another restaurant and come back about an hour and a half later. There are still free seats/tables. So, it wouldn't have been a problem to serve me a meal and drinks. But you apparently don't feel the need for a single guest. Pretty arrogant.

It takes a special type of genius to take the best place in Munich and turn it into the worst, but this is what has been achieved. Returning here after 7 years, what do we find? Building: in an act of unspeakably barbaric vandalism, the inside has been ripped apart and a funky round bit added, thus completely ruining the conceptual integrity of the building. Beer: the beer here before was undoubtedly the best in Munich and in the top 5 in Germany; an incredible completely uncarbonated cloudy Keller bier that I would come here regularly just to drink. It's now been replaced by something which, while not too bad as such, isn't fit to lace the boots of the old beer; quite gassy and bland and hardly distinguishable from your average Paulaner rubbish. Food: the schnitzel here used to be the best in Munich. Now? It's obviously pre-made because the crust, smelling of stale oil, is completely detached from the bland overcooked beef. To add insult to injury, they charge 28 Euros for it. 28!!! To put that in context, Figlmüller, the best place in Vienna, only charge 18!!! What a disgrace. I didn't even get a chance to explain this, as we just got a muttered "das schmeckt" without even looking at us and the plates snatched away before I had a change to speak. Of course there was no query as to why 80% of the schnitzel was untouched; nobody could care less, it's not that sort of place. Whoever is responsible for ruining the old Nockherberg should hang their head in shame.

Huge portions! Good selection of drinks. And especially, greeeeat atmosphere! Its a very pretty beergarden and very green.

After our last visit two years ago, we said never again. But since our regular restaurant was closed for a private event, we thought, maybe a second chance? A disaster from the start! Arrogant and very unfriendly staff at the reception made us wait a very long time. They constantly walk around and simply ignore us. We were seated at the back of the restaurant, where all the tourists and foreigners seem to sit. We asked for a table near the front and were told the restaurant was fully booked. (There was one table available all night.) The service was very slow and the food was only OK. Our server was at least nice. Simple German food quality, but much more expensive than other restaurants in Germany. For example, 2 main courses, 2 beers, and 2 red wines, and the bill was €100 with tip! We definitely wouldn't recommend it, and we all work for large German companies and will never have a team event or corporate event here. Stay away!

An absolute delight to always be back at the Paulaner in Munich! The place is vast, vibrant and filled with life. With a vast variety of seating spaces and beautifully curated menu options, this place is an absolute Bavarian glory! Loved their vegan options and enjoyed the experience.

Paulaner am Nockherberg is a solid spot for classic Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed… exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Munich beer garden. Their schnitzel is pretty good and everything on the menu delivers those familiar, comforting flavors.

We've been attending the Starbierfest for many, many years. We remember the old Nockherberg before it burned down. We always had fun and enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, this year, as in the previous year, we noticed that the liter of beer was very poorly filled. Sometimes only 50% full. Even informing the wait staff didn't improve the situation. We were told to go to the tap master ourselves. An email to customer service received no response. Is it too much to ask if you only want what you paid for?

The unfiltered Helles here was a masterpiece! It was naturally fresh and offered a rich malt aroma. And we could sense the passion for quality in the cleanliness of the glasses.

A huge disaster and no organization. The website says no reservations, but yesterday for the Champions League final, security didn't let us in, asking for reservations, even though you could see empty seats from outside and people were leaving in the meantime. 🤔 They even called the police. I will never go back to the place. Bad experience

I had a very bad experience at this venue. We were there to watch football. My partner left briefly, but was refused re-entry. Despite trying to explain the situation, I was not treated with any kind of compassion or understanding. The staff and management behaved extremely unprofessionally and disrespectfully. I will never visit this venue again and absolutely cannot recommend it.

In general, it has a simple and limited menu. It is very enjoyable to sit in the garden with fried chicken, potatoes and beer, especially if the weather is nice. On the other hand, the staff is quite troublesome, they make unnecessary jokes and then behave badly. Therefore, communication should be limited. Otherwise, it can be impertinent.

I've lived in Munich for several years and have visited almost every brewery many times. Visit to the beer garden. A clear selection of hot and cold dishes. But everything was extremely good. Also beautifully presented on the plate, rather unusual for a beer garden. In my opinion, the best beer garden in Munich. The location of the restaurant and beer garden is beautiful. The dining rooms are modern, combining Bavarian tradition. The huge bar, including a show brewery, is impressive. You are shown to your table by one of the always very friendly staff members, who serve you very well with charm and humor. A large selection of different beers is available. With a "beer tasting" of five or ten different beers, you can taste your favorite. The menu is not overly extensive. However, this is reflected in the absolutely top quality of the food. Everything here is fresh and homemade. It's Michelin-star quality! This quality, along with the excellent presentation of the food, justifies the slightly higher prices. Everything is absolutely perfect.

If the beer were as cold as the welcome, it might have earned another star. We were shown a table without a greeting and with a grumpy expression. The inn's novel and certainly expensive design is a matter of taste. I find it very inappropriate for a traditional and historic "brewery." Completely untypical for Munich, no "Helles" is offered. There's only wheat beer and a very spicy, naturally cloudy cellar beer. Also a matter of taste... I don't like it. We probably won't become regulars here.

Unfortunately 0 stars are not possible. After the already half-filled stone jug was half drunk, we discovered bird shit stuck to the bottom of the jug. When we complained it was said that it belongs to the Steinkrug. This is the ultimate insolence, unhygienic and shameless. Only after discussion was a small sip added and asked whether that was really necessary now. Never again

Rarely have such unfriendly service been served in both beer gardens. Be it from the waiters or when serving food. Obatzdn in the beer garden is not recommended.

Holiday in Bavaria. Setting up the maypole. Visit the beer garden. Nice weather has been forecast for days. All of this was probably unforeseeable for the current management of the Nockerberg Biergarten. 7:00 p.m. Pretzels out, Brozeitbrettl out, Obatzter out. Something like that shouldn't happen in a Munich beer garden and especially on the Nockerberg; especially not with ambitious prices of well over €10 for the measure. The offers that seem to have run out are beer garden basics, dear operators! Will you run out of beer next? I've been a regular for more than 35 years, but I've never experienced such flat management performance. At least the service is motivated, but that hardly puts this failure into perspective. Please do justice to the prices again and get significantly better!

What an impressive location! The food was very tasty, from roast pork to Kaiserschmarrn. The freshly tapped beer was the best I've ever drunk and there were quite a few for comparison ;) The service was super nice and the rooms were simply WOW. This is how I imagine tradition. 10/10

We had taken a day trip to Munich and then stopped at the Paulaner Nockherberg for dinner in the evening, as we had heard so much about it from politicians. The restaurant is very elegantly furnished and the prices are absolutely ridiculous (2 main courses, 2 normal drinks 80 €, wheat beer 6.20 €), plus there is a lot of Munich chic crowd there. The service was friendly, but forgot about us and our neighboring table for a long time. The food was brought immediately after ordering 5 minutes later. So everything is already pre-cooked and kept warm. The portion was manageable, unfortunately I didn't really get full. You just expect more for the money... But the taste was definitely delicious and the meat was extremely tender. CONCLUSION: Okay so far, but unfortunately not the expected highlight. Rather average :/

Wir hatten einen Tagesausflug in München gemacht und sind dann Abends zum Essen noch im Paulaner Nockherberg eingekehrt, da wir durch Politikerderblecken schon so viel davon gehört hatten. Das Restaurant ist sehr edel eingerichtet und die Preise absolut gesalzen (2 Hauptspeisen 2 normale Getränke 80 €, Weißbier 6,20 €), dazu viel Münchner Schickeria Publikum dort. Die Bedienung war freundlich, aber hat uns und unseren Nachbartisch erst einmal längere Zeit vergessen. Das Essen wurde sofort nach der Bestellung 5 Minuten später gebracht. Ist also alles schon vorgekocht und warm gehalten. Die Portion überschaubar, bin nicht wirklich satt geworden leider. Für das Geld erwartet man da einfach mehr.... Geschmacklich lecker war es aber definitiv und das Fleisch hauchzart. FAZIT: Soweit okay, aber auch leider nicht das erwartete Highlight. Eher Durchschnitt :/

Unfortunately, my Kaiserschmarrn wasn't in the pan long enough and was more of a pancake to cut into pieces. The waiter was there quickly at the beginning, later they were difficult to find - but always friendly. I would have expected more given the prices.

After a while we went there again for dinner with the family at Easter. We've always enjoyed coming here for special occasions, but this was probably our last visit. The quality of the food and drinks was consistently very good and the portions for meat eaters were decent. But for the vegetarians among us it was depressing. There was no longer a vegetarian salad option, not even when asked. And the pumpkin dish we ordered instead was tasty, but not nearly enough to fill us up. The quantity was more like an appetizer. At a price of 23 euros, that's annoying. That's why we will hold our family reunions somewhere else in the future.

It was a real highlight recently at the Paulaner am Nockherberg! The beer fresh from the tap is a delight, and the pork knuckle was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The beer garden under the chestnut trees is a dream, especially in summer. Service was friendly and quick. Prices are absolutely fine for Munich. I'd love to come back!

Nice beer garden. Food prices 30.. 40% above Munich standards but really modest quality (Münchner Schnitzel 26Eur). In the served area, 20 minutes later, everyone had their food at a small table. ..despite few guests.

I celebrated my 50th birthday in one of the private rooms (Kaminzimmer). During the planning stages I was treated very professionally by the manager who answered all my questions and gave me very good advice on how to plan the event. The tables were nicely set and the food was great. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I got the feeling that they were happy to have us as guests, and several friends also told me the same. The end result was even better than I had expected. In the end it was a really beautiful evening. Hopefully I will be around for my 60th so that I can return :)

We were here during the day on Saturday for the strong beer festival. The band hardly played at all and the atmosphere really wasn't good. Most people preferred to go out to the beer garden. A Spezi 0.5L for 7.20 EUR is really an absolute disgrace. The food and service was ok.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Paulaner am Nockerberg and it was simply fantastic! I was particularly impressed by the home-brewed beer, which tastes fresh and full-bodied – a real highlight! There was also a medium steak that was perfectly cooked - beautifully seared on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I will definitely come back and can only warmly recommend the Paulaner am Nockerberg!

We wanted to go to the beer garden in the nice weather. At the entrance we were told that there were only seats inside. With a view of the beer garden, we could have easily sat down at a few tables. We were seated at a table inside with the words - you can look at the cauldrons 🫤. Otherwise everything was fine, only the lady at the entrance ruined our visit with her manner. Too bad

Nice atmosphere but the service is terrible, I would almost call it fraud. The beer mugs are only 2/3 full, but you can't tell from the fresh measure because they are stone mugs. If you complain you will just be ignored. Based on the comments, this doesn't seem to be an isolated case. Our bank neighbors also complained in vain. There are prices for this like at the Oktoberfest. Puke!!

If you're allergic, it's not recommended. There's no food for people with nut allergies, which is a shame. We wanted to have a nice meal, but after ordering drinks, we were told that it's not possible to eat there if you have a severe allergy. It's very poor considering the menu states beforehand that they offer food for people with allergies.

For the strong beer festival: Positive: Food very good and friendly service, delicious strong beer Negative: I'm relatively sure that it comes from above as a requirement like at the Oktoberfest, but I still find it a mess to be honest. I'm willing to pay the prices, but I think it's a shame that the innkeepers seem to have no pride and that every cent of profit is placed above the visitor experience. As a student, the prices are doubly annoying. The band is actually great at the Oktoberfest, but the music selection is an absolute disaster in my opinion. It actually has nothing to do with a folk festival or Oktoberfest and all the classics that everyone can actually play aren't played, instead some songs from Argentina.

The bar staff has never been the best at a strong beer festival, but this year it's a disgrace! The waitress won't refill your beer for fear of not getting a new contract, and if you complain, you'll just get a yell at the bar staff. This doesn't happen at the (regular) Oktoberfest – thankfully, Keferloher is "banned" there and it's regulated by the KVR (Confederation of Beer Authorities). €14.50 for a better beer is simply disgraceful. Or as Monaco (adapting from Böttner-Salm) said: it's complete crap!

I don't know what was going on with the waitresses at the strong beer festival this year, but on two different evenings they started arguing about trivial things, including why you don't already have the money ready but have to get your wallet out first. And they always threaten to stop coming to the table. Like in kindergarten. This has never happened in all these years and now twice in a row. I hope this doesn't become a trend.

The strong beer festival in the Paulaner with light and shadow. Positive: atmosphere and people were A1, the food was good almost across the board. Neutral: the Kirchdorfer with some. very good performance, but partly. also inappropriate song selection (e.g. Taylor Swift, Coldplay) and questionable performance (especially guest singers). Negative: the hall has zero charm - it could be in Berlin or at the Ballermann and the pouring is always really bad.

Wir waren gestern zum Starkbierfest dort. Ein Bierpreis von 14,50€ ist ja mittlerweile üblich und dementsprechend ok für uns. Dass die undurchsichtigen Steinkrüge aber generell maximal nur zu drei Viertel gefüllt waren, ist eine Frechheit.

In any case, a very good atmosphere, including the service, and the Kirchdorfer live ON tour were outstanding. First of all, I'd recommend the culture section and the accompanying miracle of the Paulaner winery at Nockherberg. The service was very friendly and passionate. The Salvator is definitely a recommendation, and the decor is a mix of boyar and modern. The entrance area is very well organized. Tables are wiped down. There are many traditional costumes on display, but it's not a must. :-)

My review refers to the strong beer festival at Nockherberg. I would like to point out that there is a lot of cheating going on, at €14.50 the mugs were actually only 3/4 full.... Out of around 22 strong beers, only one was completely full. We had pointed this out to "BIERgit", but her serving partner (old man with thinning hair) brought the beer. The way he behaved was simply impossible, extremely rude, we should go to the tavern ourselves and get a refill. There are already an extremely large number of complaint emails, yes and why isn't anything happening? Absolutely unacceptable for a festival with such tradition! Let's stick with our example and assume 20 (3/4) strong beers. Shortage for 20 measurements: 20 × 0.25 L = 5 L Profit for the organizer for “air beer”: 5 × €14.50 = €72.50 With 20 liters, the organizer makes an additional profit of €72.50 without ever having served the beer. Extrapolated from thousands of visitors, that amounts to a decent amount!

Modern, beautifully composed, system-style restaurant cuisine! Excellent dishes at upscale prices. The price/performance ratio is a bit high for the amount of ingredients (e.g., the amount of meat in the beef bourguignon was 2-3 pieces; I would have been fine with 4-5). The service was very friendly and attentive.

I was here for the Starkbierfest. I actually thought it was quite nice, but unfortunately, I was pretty ripped off several times when it came to beer. Here you can see the liter of beer (€14.50) without having finished it, and that included several beers, not just this one. For that price, the liter really shouldn't have been just 2/3 full.

In einer großen Gruppe mit Reservierung zum Starkbierfest da gewesen. Der Saal war schön eingerichtet bzw. dekoriert. Band war gut und verbreitete Stimmung. Speisekarte übersichtlich, aber ausreichend: da findet jeder was. Preise üblich. Servicekräfte waren aufmerksam und flott. Essen war lecker. Toll ist natürlich der große Biergarten: der lädt bei schönem Wetter zum Verweilen ein. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

The Starkbierfest at Nockherberg is almost like a mini-Wiesn. A great band, great service, and simply a fantastic experience every year.

We were at the strong beer festival today (March 16, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.). First the positive: The service was great, the prices were fair and the atmosphere was great. The two snack platters in advance were also very tasty. Overall we had a nice evening... But: The music and songs were well known but, in our opinion, absolutely unsuitable for a German folk festival. It felt like 40% Spanish songs, 50% English songs and 10% German songs. Has the band ever heard of Münchener Freiheit, Wolfgang Petry, NDW or Udo Jürgens? Sorry but NOTHING came of it. I/we didn't understand. And that at a German folk festival...

The Paulaner am Nockherberg is a real highlight in Munich! Beautifully located, the brewery combines traditional Bavarian pub culture with a modern, high-quality ambience. You immediately feel at home here – whether in the stylish interior or in the cozy beer garden. The Bavarian delicacies are consistently delicious and go perfectly with the freshly tapped Paulaner beer. The strong beer festival is particularly recommended - a great fun event with the best atmosphere, live music and of course the legendary Salvator strong beer. Important: A table reservation is strongly recommended at the strong beer festival, because, like at the Oktoberfest, seats are quickly snapped up. A must for everyone who wants to experience Bavarian tradition with first-class beer and a good atmosphere!

Exquisite food. The German culinary tradition is fully respected. The kaisersmarn was divine. The girls who work at the service are splendid. Professional, friendly and very helpful, very far from the usual German rigidity that is often gratuitous and obtuse! I don't like eating in huge places but this is it! It is necessary to underline that wood and comfort dominate. Considering that you are in Monaco the price is also very fair!! I will return often. Not to be missed

Wir waren nach längerer Zeit mal wieder vor Ort und waren sehr enttäuscht von der Qualität des Essens. Die Pfannkuchensuppe schmeckte wie eine billige Packerl-Suppe. Die Pfannkuchen selbst waren eher Eierstich und das Grießnockerl musste man fast mit der Lupe suchen, dafür schmeckte es. Das Backhendl wäre sehr gut gewesen, wäre frisches Fett in der Fritteuse benutzt worden. Auch die Kartoffelsuppe hatte Luft nach oben... Schade, dass die Qualität in diesem schönen Ambiente so nachgelassen hat und für Sonderwünsche auch kein Platz war. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, dafür 5 Sterne, der Rest leider mangelhaft.

Visiting Munich, snow outside, getting up to the Paulaner Brewery on the Nockherberg, being introduced to a wonderful table right next to the big, round brewing tanks and then having a whole 2 hours long dinner along with two big glasses of the famous Salvator beer that both couldn't have been better. one more thing I need to address is the service there! Thanks to Mr. Matthias and his hip helpfulness and easygoingness everything was just perfect! thanks for showing me also on how to get outside to see the Festsaal! big, big thanks! it's indeed been an unforgettable, great visit!

The food: I chose the Wienerschnitzel – crispy, golden brown and so tender that it almost melted in your mouth. It was simply perfectly prepared, accompanied by wonderfully crispy fried potatoes, which rounded off the taste experience. My friend ordered the chicken – very flavorful. He loved it. And then came the Kaiserschmarrn. - Just wild and a dream. A huge, fluffy masterpiece with delicate powdered sugar and applesauce that was just to die for. Every bite was pure happiness. This was exactly the Kaiserschmarrn that everyone was always raving about. The service – an ode to our waiter Matthias: But what made this visit truly unforgettable was Matthias, probably the best waiter we've had in a long time in Munich! 🤩 His service was outstanding: attentive, warm, charming and with a sense of humor that immediately made us feel like we were the highlight of the evening. Despite the lively atmosphere, he never lost track of things and fulfilled our every wish. If I had my own restaurant, Matthias would be my manager for life. A true professional who shows passion for his job! Conclusion: The Paulaner at Nockherberg not only offers heavenly food, but also service that sets standards. Paulaner am Nockherberg – one of Munich’s large, traditional breweries. But if you only think of traditional Bavarian cosiness in a rustic atmosphere, you are wrong. Because this inn manages the feat of combining tradition and modernity in a way that is both stylish and inviting. As soon as you enter, you'll notice the modern interior design, which fits harmoniously into the traditional setting - as if Bavarian pub culture had been given a chic but authentic makeover. And it is precisely this feeling for the right amount of renewal that runs through the entire concept. The spacious underground car park is also very pleasant. But even before the architecture can develop its effect, you experience the first real highlight: the reception. Showing up at a crowded restaurant without a reservation? Usually a recipe for disappointing rejections. Not here. The restaurant manager Kathi - charming, professional and seemingly endowed with magical powers - made the impossible possible and found a place for us despite the hustle and bustle. With a smile that shows that people here know how to host. The impression continues with the service - attentive, quick and with just the right amount of Bavarian charm. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you feel like a regular - even if it is your first visit. And then the food: Of course there are the classics – a roast pork that tastes like something out of a Bavarian picture book. But gourmets with a desire for modern, seasonal interpretations will also get their money's worth. Deer osso buco? Deer shovels? Yes, please! The cuisine also attaches great importance to regionality and organic quality, which is reflected in the prices - upscale but absolutely fair. Not a tourist rip-off, but honest quality. Of course there is also the famous Paulaner beer in all its facets. Whether with a hearty classic or a finely balanced game dish - everyone will find their perfect glass here - but it definitely won't stop at just one. If you like Bavarian tradition in a contemporary atmosphere, you should definitely visit the Paulaner am Nockherberg. There is not only good food and excellent beer here, but also a hospitality that you won't quickly forget.

Clear recommendation for the Paulaner business at Nockherberg! My personal highlights were the beaming welcome from the restaurant manager Kathi, courteous service in a modern and cozy atmosphere and the really excellent food - the chefs know their craft and prepare classics (such as roast pork and Kaiserschmarrn) as well as well-thought-out, exciting dishes (such as osso buco made from Bavarian deer). I am already looking forward to future visits and events in this beautiful location.

A beautiful brewery. A little more elegant, a little quieter than many others. Super good service, of course excellent beer and very good food. The location is great and it's easy to reach from the center. You should just go there and you'll definitely come back. We had a lovely evening, thanks to the entire team

A safe choice for true Bavarian hospitality! Anyone who appreciates traditional cuisine, warm hospitality and perfectly organized gastronomy has come to the right place. We were guests on business and were thrilled from start to finish: reservations, service and food – everything was great!
