There's a children's play area. The large terrace is open in the summer. Dogs are welcome. We are regulars and always look forward to enjoying a meal here.

A wonderful inn on the Alpine Road. The ambiance is modern and rustic, with occasional kitschy decorations, but this is forgivable as it's not too distracting. The kitchen offers continuous service (though the menu is sometimes a bit limited). We ate there twice within three days as a group of four and were always very satisfied. The staff was attentive and friendly, even if it sometimes took a little longer to choose our meals. The prices were perfectly reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. A perfect place to return to again and again.

We spontaneously stopped at the inn on an Advent Sunday after a short 7km hike. Although it was packed at lunchtime, we still managed to get two seats. We personally enjoyed the food very much – venison and suckling pig. Unfortunately, we had to walk back to our starting point, which cut our stay short. We would have loved to stay longer. 😊 The atmosphere was beautiful. 🎅🌲 Many thanks to the friendly staff and compliments to the chef. We will definitely come back again in the summer. Cash only.

Wachterl is a fantastic restaurant with a diverse and extensive menu. The food, prepared with love and passion, is absolutely delicious. In the summer months, you can sit on a large terrace surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had lunch at the Wachterl yesterday. I had pizza and salad, my husband had lamb bolognese. It was good. But I'm very disappointed that they no longer offer traditional Bavarian dishes. There's a large selection of Italian food. But that's not what you need when you visit a traditional Bavarian inn. What a shame.

I remember the Wachterl from my childhood. Back then, it was always a quaint, Bavarian restaurant, and I have only fond memories of it. Although I'm from the area, I haven't been able to make it here in a long time. Today I was back in the area and stopped by. I wasn't disappointed. The terrace with its wonderful view is simply fantastic. The dining room is also beautifully decorated. There's even a tiled stove. The restrooms are clean and in keeping with the inn's style. The most important thing, however, is the food, and it was excellent! We had one venison roast with spaetzle, one venison meatloaf with spaetzle, and one cordon bleu with fries. All three dishes were beautifully presented, tasted very good, and the portions were generously sized. I was full afterward! The beer is from Wieninger. Not bad either! You can now pay by card, but not by debit/credit card. Definitely recommended without reservation. Good Bavarian cuisine. Friendly staff!

I've been to this chic restaurant twice for dinner, and the trip is always worth it. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious, catering to all tastes and prepared quickly. I've eaten at Wachterl several times. The food was always good, sometimes even very good. Unfortunately, the service wasn't particularly good. I didn't really like the ladies' manner. The ambiance was nice. I would go back again. However, I would really appreciate friendlier staff. Otherwise, keep up the good work. ;)

We spontaneously stopped by the Wachterl after a hike and therefore hadn't made a reservation. It was already quite full, but we received a very friendly welcome and were able to find a spot for us. The portions were generous, the presentation was appealing, and we felt completely at home. The Wachterl seems to be popular not only with tourists but also with locals. The location on the Alpine Road is beautiful, with stunning views of the mountains, so the ambiance alone is inviting. We would return anytime, but a reservation is highly recommended.

A wonderful inn where you immediately feel at home and will gladly return.

We had a great meal here. The icing on the cake would have been if there had been some nicer side dishes than fries or hash browns. But it tasted really, really good, and the service was excellent 👍

This inn was recommended by our hostess, and it was a perfect fit for our taste. The food is delicious and also exceptional (like the venison bolognese). The prices are absolutely reasonable, and the service is very attentive. BUT—> you should make a reservation in advance!

It's a truly beautiful inn, just as you'd expect. Although it's located right on the main road, you can't hear much street noise. The cuisine is regional but still very varied. The outdoor terrace offers a beautiful view of the mountains.

A dream kitchen, beats everything in the surrounding area, and there are also some good restaurants here. Our roast chamois was amazing, and so was the monkfish. The starter was creamed trout. Absolute culinary delight.

Absolutely not recommended!!!! The welcome from the waitress was totally unfriendly. Then came the beer, which wasn't even limited to the calibration mark. But the food was amazing!! Deep-fried schnitzel from a discount store. The pasta for the goulash isn't freshly cooked, but rather prepared in the morning and then reheated. Even the waitress confirmed this when she asked us how the food was. And then we paid €62 for this crap/filth. Simply disgusting.

We've been eating here on vacation for years. We always eat here several times and have never been disappointed. The menu offers something for everyone and is varied thanks to a changing daily special. The service is friendly, attentive, and prompt. The food is delicious and fairly priced. We're always happy to come back.

Delicious Wiener Schnitzel and side salad! The fries were a bit too salty for my taste—maybe the chef is newly in love? 😉☺️ The restaurant is located right on the main road, so you can hear the traffic noise. Be prepared for that. But all in all, highly recommended! ☺️

It was our first visit to this restaurant; we hadn't reserved a table. It was quite busy. We were still able to get two seats for 1.5 hours. The food was excellent, and the service was pleasantly friendly. We felt at home. Thank you. At the end of the week, we wanted to eat there again, ordered by phone, but were rudely turned away by the lady. It was incomprehensible; it didn't match our first visit. We're deducting one star for the unfriendly manner of the lady on the phone.

We were free to choose our seats; the view alone is worth a visit. The service was friendly, and the food was served quickly and very attractively. The prices are reasonable: children's meals under €10, adult meals €10-30, depending on the dish.

I stopped by for dinner with my wife after a hike to Taubensee. We were hungry and looking forward to it. The restaurant makes a good impression from the outside, and the interior is equally impressive. The dining room is clean and cozy, with plenty of space, including on the terrace, which offers a magnificent view of the mountains. Now for the food: a menu that, thankfully, wasn't too overly extensive still left nothing to be desired. We opted for char fillet and napkin dumplings with Kallbrunner alpine cheese and fresh chanterelle mushrooms. It was a delight. The service was friendly and quick. A visit is highly recommended.

The restaurant's terrace offers a rather nice view. The service was adequate, but seemed strained, unfriendly, and at times even irritated. The quality of the food was okay (three scoops of ice cream) and rather poor (Kaiserschmarrn, which was unfortunately drowning in grease).

Everything is absolutely perfect here. The service is super friendly, the food tastes delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend stopping by for a meal and a drink. And make sure you reserve a table in advance, otherwise it might be difficult.

We went to Wirtshaus Wachterl three days in a row. It had never occurred to me before. Why? Quite simply: - Each person in our group had a different meal every evening. Everything was amazing! - You can taste the excellent quality of the products. - The team is very friendly and accommodating. - Beautiful interior. - Seats available even without a reservation. - The value for money is second to none. Also top-notch!

I've been coming to the Wachterl for 8 years now; the food is delicious, the staff is great, and the mountain views are magnificent. I look forward to my Berchtesgaden vacation and the Cordon Bleu at the Wachterl all year round.

It's very conveniently located with bus and train access. Dal Lokal is nicely furnished and offers good food served by a very friendly waiter.

Very friendly service, and even though it was full, we were allowed to sit up front with our two dogs. We can only recommend it.

The first time, after a long hike through the Schwarzbach Valley, we arrived here completely starving. 🙈. Despite the unexpected arrival of a tourist bus, they found us seats. The girls at the inn are all very nice people; we felt well looked after, and after delicious food and drinks, we left the inn in a good mood, even in the rain. We stopped by again today on the way back from Bad Reichenhall... and left again very satisfied after enjoying our meal. It's a good thing we're only here on vacation, otherwise the scales would go into strike mode at some point. Thank you very much for the kind hospitality. We ate there twice and were very pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the highly experienced staff. If the terrace isn't occupied, you can and should make a reservation. The well-shaded west-facing terrace overlooks the precipice and is usually breezy in hot weather – a lovely place to sit. The appetizers are very interesting, for example, a mix of game and fish specialties as well as cheese, served on a stand made of chamois hock and shoulder blades. Very original! The dishes are plentiful and very tasty; it's no wonder the restaurant has an excellent reputation. Everything is efficiently organized, and the place is buzzing, even in the kitchen – fantastic organization. You should arrive early for dinner or make a reservation. Our favorite dishes were the ravioli with marinated whitefish pieces and the fish lasagna.

A very nice inn, a great location, and you can sit on the terrace almost in the middle of the mountain. The food was excellent, the service friendly, and the prices reasonable. We had ox ribs and fish lasagna; everything was freshly prepared and very tasty. The apartment next door is incredibly beautiful, very clean and modernly furnished, and the hostess is very friendly and helpful.

Simply outstanding. Everything was perfect, from the service on the phone to the service upon arrival, right through to the incredibly delicious sweetbreads with prawns and beetroot served over liver with orange sorbet and hazelnut ice cream. And the prices are very fair for the quality. Please keep it up!!!

What good is the appealing, peaceful ambiance and truly delicious food at Wachterl if the waitresses (in my opinion) are a bit pretentious? Not exactly unfriendly, but nice and friendly isn't what I consider to be the best. There was always a subtle feeling that I was disturbing the crowd. I realize that a long day in the restaurant industry isn't a walk in the park. But if both waitresses are equally in a bad mood, I wouldn't exactly recommend it.

That evening, I ordered a piece of beef and a mixed salad for a whopping €29. Although I'm happy to spend money on good food. What arrived? Huge chunks of leaf lettuce with no dressing and a woody taste. The rest of the salad was equally tasteless. And unfortunately, the meat was tough and lacking in flavor. The service was rather rushed. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it based on my experience.

The restaurant itself is very nice. Food wasn't that great. Ordered different dishes. Not beautifully presented and unimaginative for my taste. Everything with fries. Among other things, we ordered brawn. It wasn't brawn but a gray press sack with extremely dried out fried potatoes.

Personally, the schnitzel was too thick and significantly too fatty for me. The selection of vegetarian dishes is underground, even for a pub in Bavaria. The service is average.

Excellent food in a great atmosphere.

Great restaurant experience as a family with three small children. Very cozy atmosphere, benches, tables, high-quality furnishings, clean and well-kept. High chair and changing facilities available. Super fast, attentive and friendly service. The children's menu is very extensive and not just standard fries and nuggets. Also pasta, freshly fried meat, pancakes, etc. The daily menu offers a great selection. We had ox cheeks, dumplings and red cabbage (have never had such good red cabbage before). For dessert there was cream with raspberry sauce and pretzel crumble. It was fantastic. You can taste the cuisine's own standards in the fresh, homemade dishes. (Otherwise there would be no home-made red cabbage but instead products from a jar.) We were very satisfied and will come back. Price performance is right. EC card payment is possible.

The schnitzel with the fries was too salty, and the schnitzel itself wasn't a hit... the soup, however, was very tasty... unfortunately we weren't given a particularly friendly welcome we didn't feel comfortable here...

Magnificent view of the mountains from the outside terrace!! The food was really very good, we were really impressed. There were also great variations in the menu and the restaurant is very flexible if you have allergies or are not allowed to eat pork due to illness. They then rebuild the dishes accordingly at no extra cost. Really great!! The portions were generous and the staff was attentive and friendly. We would love to come back and can definitely recommend the restaurant.
