The food is just too expensive; Price-performance ratio is no longer right. Very unfriendly staff. Because of the bad acoustics, you can't even talk to each other (when the restaurant is half full). On the positive side, the place is clean and the furniture is new. I will never come again. VG

I really enjoyed the Schnitzel vom Schwäbisch-Hällischen Landschwein~Slices of pork marinated with mustard and horseradish, fried to a golden, yet tender crisp, with a generous squeeze of lemon depending on how you like it. You will find a small pot of berries on the side and I do suggest you drop a few on each bite! Served with a side of potato radish salad, and let me warn you, if you are looking for something sweet, this aint it! The radish gives this salad a spicy bite, what you are used to as “German Potato Salad” isn’t this at all and how wonderful is that! A must is always the red cabbage that is simmered in spices yet remains firm to the fork, and has a slightly sweet finish. This restaurant is famous for its potato dumplings, which I learned afterwards because I don’t usually do restaurant research until I get home and provide tips for readers. I go in with an empty stomach and an open mind ready to handle whatever is placed in front of me with enthusiasm! So if you aren’t a fan of vinegar based potato salad and you want to play it safe, order the potato dumplings instead. You will find Schnitzel in many forms across Germany and surrounding European countries, try it with gravy, mushrooms, or rolled and fried with ham and cheese! The service here was such a pleasant experience, we rolled up and saw two young black men managing the outside patio, turns out one spent lots of time in New York and also went to college in Nevada! Both born and raised in Germany, but were very happy to connect and share their own personal experiences of time in the states! Both provided a few suggestions about where to hang out during Oktoberfest, and claimed that their restaurant has a tent and consigned on having the best beer and food! Sadly I neglected to write down their names, but nonetheless these gentlemen exceeded standards in service and kindness, even if you are not familiar with German cuisine, they will suggest something that you might enjoy based on your personal tastes. If you don’t enjoy the food, that is fine, but please keep that opinion to yourself if you can’t express those sentiments in a way that is not offensive. This restaurant is a favorite among the locals, nestled in a residential neighborhood where patrons ride up on bicycles with babies on the back to eat dinner joined by their grandparents, so have some respect and conduct yourself with decorum. You will not see diners glued to their cell phones, talking loudly, or playing social media videos, while eating they are enjoying the company of others and you should be doing the same! Amazing food & service. Was there for my birthday celebration on August 6th and absolutely loved this place. Ivan was amazing and took real good care of us as well as lady who greeted us. Had us laughing and was delightful. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting to check out this wonderful gem.

Quite nice, good service. But the prices are high, especially drinks - I think 7.90 euros for 0.75l of water and 5.50 for 0.5l of blackcurrant spritzer are clearly excessive.

A very cozy bar/restaurant serving traditional Bavarian food to the locals, tucked away on a quiet street just outside of Old Town. We had the steak and schnitzel, with icecream and chocolate mousse for dessert. The service was also very good, and we received warm welcomes from the host and the server.

An amazing restaurant to visit when in Munich. The interior is true Bavaria, all wood, large beams, wood pillars, high ceilings. Staff is friendly and engaging. Six of us spent 6 hours socializing, eating, drinking, eating, drinking, drinking, drinking, drinking. Traditional beers, excellent wines and the food is what I would refer to as Bavarian Soul Food. I had the Bergfex, roasted pork, with a potato dumpling, bread dumpling, roasted duck, red cabbage and apple. Later in the evening we had a charcuterie platter. It had cured meats, sausages, pickles, cheeses, mustards, spreads, tomatoes, red currents, breads. A perfect place to just feel good. Always on the list of stops when in Munich.

Absolute tip. We came towards the inn in light rain, loud voices coming from the door - oh dear, it's getting crowded. But there was still a place available for 2 people. Rustic inn with typical dishes and regional standards. Super nice and friendly service really top notch. Fast, polite, charming. Drinks cool, everything clean and no kitsch. Food was absolutely top. Definitely go there.

The service and the atmosphere among the staff was top notch, you can't complain about that. Unfortunately, the food was anything but good. Bread dumplings completely condensed, sauce with an indefinable aroma, red cabbage mainly with starch-bound broth. The white wine was not drinkable. I don't know if the chef was on vacation, but it was more of a mediocre canteen than a traditional inn.

This is a 10 out of 10 for me. The staff was quick and very friendly, they took time to help us out with our order because we only spoke English. They were even dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing which enhanced the whole experience. The food was well cooked and incredibly tasty and arrived fast! The bathrooms where clean in excellent condition. I highly recommend and I would definitely revisit when I'm in Munich again ! Thank you for this beautiful Bavarian experience!

Wirtshaus in der Au in Munich offers authentic Bavarian cuisine with excellent service in a cozy, traditional setting. Located just outside the busy city center, it’s a perfect spot to enjoy local flavors without the tourist crowds. In August and September i would definitely eat inside because of the wasps.

Typical German pub, aesthetically beautiful and with good food, but everything ruined by Ivan's terrible service, rude and unhelpful. He was annoyed by having to serve 2 neighboring tables (the only group), forced us to leave a 10% tip and insulted us several times. Advice: go elsewhere to leave your money!!!

Unfortunately, the food was very poor. Really a disappointment for me as a native Bavarian. Duck skinny skin. Thick packing sauce… Were the dumplings homemade? Price hasn't gone down :-D

The inn advertises its different dumplings - they are really fantastic! The knuckle was also good with a very good price-performance ratio. You also sit really well and nicely inside and out. The online reservation tool is good but if you try to call in the afternoon (3 p.m.) the phone is repeatedly hung up. It was proven that there was nothing going on - a shame and not very customer-oriented

Very, very good cuisine, very large portions and catering again in the restaurant according to the current Corona rules. Vaccinated!!!....etc. etc. Also outdoors in summer. Have been here several times for birthday dinners/celebrations. Were there on Thursday. I had a 1/4 duck and it was great. There is also a special dessert for several people with small "fireworks" and bells.

Super tasty food with friendly and courteous service. Didn't have to wait long for the order. You should definitely make a reservation in advance as the restaurant is very busy. Highly recommended.

If you are visiting Munich AVOID THIS PLACE PLEASE. We were looking forward to a few nice beers and some food and got turned down at the door by the owner. The indoor seating was 90% free and even the outdoor seating has a few empty tables without a reservation sign. My take is they do not welcome non local people. So sad so see this happen in such an international and multi cultural city.

Did not have a reservation but happily was given a table for our family of 6. Niky was our server and was very friendly and helpful on recommendations. Overall a great meal in a great atmosphere.

A worthy dinner stop in Munich, the food was good and they had a decent beer selection including one brewed specially for them. They are known for their dumplings here and had some unique variations on them that were fun to try. They also have a small cocktail list which was a nice change, I tried the Watzman and really enjoyed it.

Large Bavarian restaurant where we had to wait 45 minutes to get a table on the terrace. Terrace which is a little narrow, the tables are very close to each other. Hearty and very very salty dishes and the extremely sweet dessert. The lady at reception was very friendly unlike the person who served us who was not pleasant at all. Disappointing experience.

The reception was super friendly and even though we hadn't made a reservation, we were assigned a spot. Not a given for Friday evening. The service was absolutely amazing. Super nice, with humor and charm. The food we chose was so good that I can only describe it as “awesome”. I have rarely eaten such a good burger. The dumpling variations were also excellent. The dessert rounded it off to our complete satisfaction. Many thanks to the whole team for this very relaxed, delicious evening. Overpriced food 23.80€ for a dry duck. The beer is also 1.20€ more expensive than in other german restaurants... My husband and I had stomach pain after dinning there.

I ate here twice in 2 days in Munich, everything was really, really good! 👍

First off, this was the best service we have received in Munich. Niki was our waiter and was fantastic, which has not been the case anywhere else. We got the cheese/meat plate to start. Everything was great and we throughly enjoyed everything on it. We got the Ox Filet and the Pork & Duck dish. The ox filet was tender and very flavorful. The fries were decent. The pork and duck was good too. We also got a side of their sauerkraut, and OMG. The best I’ve ever had. Finished with the mouse for dessert. It was just ok. Overall this was a great meal and highly recommended.

Great place to meet up with friends and family! Food was good and service was even better. Line most places in Germany you and never rushed through your meal even when they get very busy. Portions are very big even the children's meals.

We were in the inn in the evening with a large group. It was very warm. It's a shame that the windows can't be used for ventilation. The food was very tasty and the service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the operation ended on time and we were basically thrown out. (Lights cleared on tables) I understand that the staff want to finish work, but I think if a group of 40 people are registered they could be a little flexible. We would have liked to stay and also ordered drinks permanently.

We were here twice on our short vacation. Friendly service. Despite the full house, we were always served quickly. The service was never overwhelmed. The food was very tasty. The subsequent brandy was poured for us at the table. We'd love to come back.

Roast pork was thick and tough. Dumpling was not cooked in the middle, and as a result had a rubbery texture. Could not be eaten. Overall, sub par food in a mediocre ghetto-esque surrounding. If you’re hungry and in the area, may I recommend the gas station. It has better food.

Nice location and great outdoor area. The food doesn’t live up to the expectations you have when first seeing the place. The sauces and bruschetta is pre-made for example. More a place to enjoy a beer/drink.

The ambience is nice and the service is very attentive and friendly and deserves an extra point here. The choice of food is not convincing. There are no small dishes, you always have to spend at least 20 euros. In general, the dishes are grossly overpriced, which is one reason why I won't be coming back. Quality is quite good, but nothing more. A fried chicken here, for example, is a chicken schnitzel and tastes average.

My favorite Bavarian restaurant thus far in München. Been here twice already and will be coming back every night until we have to leave because the food is delicious and the environment and service is amazing! We had the Liver Dumpling Soup, Tölzer Bauerngröstl, Bergfex (Duck/Pork) and Apfelschmarrn for dessert. Absolutely the best Bavarian food thus far in my opinion. Rich, robust and decadent in flavours. And my new favourite drink Wadl-beißer, and it's organic to boot! Plus a few Radlers and Beers. Everything was outstanding! The server remembered us the second time we dined. He was very helpful, welcoming and enthusiastic. Zero complaints! This place is spectacular. It's just off the beaten tourist path which is perfect! Can't wait to go back and have the same dishes and try a new one.

I'd give 6 stars if possible 🤩 The best food and service I have experienced so far. We had traditional Bavarian meal.y favourite was duck with red cabbage and potato dumpling - just fantastic! Roast pork, schnitzel and medium rare beef steak also great. Kids loved spaetzle with gravy - Bob the builder 👷 And the best service ever - smiling, cheerful, nice and great speking English. Cosy place, in a nice tree shadow 🌳 We must come back 💚 👍

We had a lovely evening with friends on the terrace in brilliantly good weather. Beforehand we shared a snack, which is simply a must in Munich. Afterwards we had main courses such as roast pork, schnitzel or fillet with great side dishes. The food was very tasty! We were also very enthusiastic about the vegan/vegetarian dishes. We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately extremely loud, it was very difficult to have a conversation. Unfortunately, relaxing is really something different. It was also super hot and stuffy. The food was solid, but there was still room for improvement. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for the bill, paying was a multi-step process... All in all a disappointing visit.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and very warm staff. We took our son for his 8th birthday celebration lunch today. The server kindly provided a very memorable experience for my son when he found out it is his birthday! His candle on the cake experience at the end was the highlight of our day!

The service is great, but I think the price-performance ratio has been declining here in recent years. The portions are becoming more and more manageable and the food was unfortunately a bit bland. The dumpling trio in particular disappointed us recently. The salad was dressed with a bland yogurt dressing.

In the middle of the metropolis and yet in a quiet, idyllic location. Great to sit outside. Very friendly and attentive service. Food very good and authentic Bavarian. The price is still ok, even if you definitely need either an appetizer or dessert in addition to the main course to fill you up. But they are also extremely tasty and imaginative.

Really good food and service was great. Max was very helpful with his recommendations. We hoped to try this place previously but very busy so booked online for the next night, easy booking and were shown straight to our table! There are 3 of us and everything we ordered was really good. We spent about 40€ a person for 2 rounds of drinks a main course and a dessert. Will definitely return!

A wonderful stop in Munich for abendbrot. The maitre d was very accomodating and spoke fluent English. He even provided us with an umbrella for the walk back to the hotel. Highly recommended.
