Lovely traditional German food. All the main dishes I tried were great! The puddings were not quite so good. It gets quite busy on a Friday night though, so I would recommend booking if possible

Yesterday we had dinner at “Zum Brünnstein” for the first time and can only say full praise. Delicious food, reasonable prices, great ambience and, most importantly, super friendly and courteous service. It's nice to be served with a smile. One wonders why this is no longer possible at many other restaurants. Keep it up...we'll be happy to come back!

According to the internet, open until midnight. On a Thursday, the shutters are lowered at 10:40 p.m. - closing time.

Quaint restaurant, very clean and modern toilets. Unfortunately the food was mediocre and the price was too expensive. Service staff friendly, but very uncoordinated, rarely experienced such a mess.

Rustic, cozy and warm! We didn't have a reservation, but the friendly team organized a place for us. The service was hearty and attentive, the food came quickly and was really tasty. Paired with a great beer – that’s exactly how you imagine Bavarian hospitality to be. We'll definitely be back.

Was here 2 years ago when visiting Munich, Came back again this year. Lots of people (locals i assume) at this place. They have am English menu and speak a bit of English, and food is good. The portions are large.

Really nice here, but a lot went wrong for us, so that the food didn't come to the table at the same time and in the end one of us had to eat after everyone else and then it wasn't the right thing. And since the dining room was packed, it was hardly possible to have a conversation. Certainly an exceptional case in this beautiful restaurant.

Whenever I come to Munich, I always come back to this place. Authentic German meals, less touristic place as only locals dine here and I love the waitresses diendle🇩🇪 which makes me feel that I’m in Germany. Great restaurant run by family!

For more than a decade I have been meeting a friend once a month in Brünnstein, as it is half the way away. What can you say; fair pricing for Munich standards, good food, weekly specials, good beer and a good atmosphere. Just like you would want a classic tavern. I like coming there and have never been disappointed. Kudos also to the service staff for always keeping an overview, even when the hut is completely full! I will definitely keep it as my “go-to” restaurant, even if I have to travel 35 km.

Great place , big menu with a wide variety of traditional Bavarian food . The beer is like nothing I’ve ever tasted and is amazing. Waiters speak English and also offer English menus. Worth a visit!

The food and drinks were very good, what was missing for my taste was some spice. When it comes to the side salad, the potato salad was a highlight. The whole thing isn't cheap but it's still OK. Reservations are recommended. I would recommend this inn.

Amazing traditional food, we spent 6 days in Bavaria and ate here 4 times as it was so good, great friendly staff and good service .. the meals are amazing.

Friendly service and fine food at reasonable prices. Was a guest here for the 3rd time. Cozy pub atmosphere. Celebrated my birthday there yesterday (8 people) and everyone liked and enjoyed it. I would recommend booking if there are more than 2 people so that you can be sure of getting a place. It's worth a visit, gladly again

Went for dinner today with 3 people. Unfortunately what can I say, the service was totally overwhelmed and waited 30 minutes for the drink. After another 20 minutes the food was ordered. Ale 3 meals were returned because they were either raw or simply tasted terribly bad. Not even the salad was good 🤷🏻‍♂️ We still had to pay the full amount. Never again, what a shame for the place.

The food was great, but on this Friday evening at the beginning of January the staff was overloaded and a bit overwhelmed, perhaps because it was very full and around 95% of all tables were occupied from 7 p.m. When it comes to beer, the dark one is more recommended for my taste.

Ambiance is getting old, just like the audience ;-). Food is delicious, especially the Kaiserschmarrn. Super clean toilets.

Food is okay but not special, portions a bit small for good eaters. Potato dumplings taste like they were bought, pork loin is a bit tough and salad sometimes has no dressing. Service relatively slow and not attentive.

Very beautiful traditional restaurant, the dishes are delicious, the price is reasonable, the atmosphere is great, the traditional decoration is magnificent. The service was very good, we only saw one server but he was everywhere at once. The Kaiserschmarrn was delicious and very filling, we couldn't finish it but the waiter gave us a doggybag. I recommend this restaurant!!!

Really quaint and cozy restaurant

Service good. Ambience good. Extremely few vegetarian dishes and they are extremely simple, for example spaetzle with sauce I didn't find any vegetarian dishes on the menu that was handed to me, but sausage dishes have their own category. I'm not a strict vegetarian, but that was really, really bad.

Today I had the Munich veal schnitzel and it was very tasty. The service was very friendly and gave us good advice. The restaurant was very busy and we were happy that we got a seat. Highly recommended.

Went to dinner at Brünnstein this evening. It was very pleasant, informal and honest! We felt very comfortable. We really enjoyed the food. Suggestion for improvement: the structure of the map is a bit confusing. After the soups are listed under the heading "Soups", there is no separate heading for the other dishes (including cheese spaetzle). When you skim over the map, it is very difficult to perceive it.

Very cozy Bavarian economy. Only 2 minutes walk from Ostbahnhof. Very nice service staff. Food is really very tasty.

Nice authentic Bavarian restaurant with great service

The wonderfully crispy Kaiserschmarrn is freshly prepared here. In contrast to other places, where it often tastes sticky as a semi-finished product. Conclusion: a great Bavarian inn with great value for money and friendly Friday service.

Great food, top service, good value for money

The food is super tasty, good portions and a more than fair price! I had the roast pork which came with a mixed salad. The meat was extremely tender and the dumplings were fluffy. It doesn't get any better. The decor is rustic, but still comfortable. The service was very nice and attentive. Gladly again at any time.

The ambience is nice, but the service was very cold and not particularly friendly. For dinner I had a pork knuckle. However, the skin was so flaky that I let it go back. After a short time it came back and at least had a light crust. But delicious is something else.

The (Zum) Brünnstein dumplings and the roast pork were really excellent! The salad was fresh and the potato salad was also very good. The sauce was a little too mild, but otherwise everything was perfect. The service was friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back!

Good camembert with red fruits, good steak and potatoes

I was a regular for over 25 years. The Brünnstein was really cheap until around the beginning of 2023, which unfortunately is no longer the case and therefore hardly differs from other comparable Bavarian restaurants in Munich. The food is usually quite decent, solid, down-to-earth. However, things were better until a few years ago. The staff are mostly friendly to down-to-earth and rude. Because of the excessively high prices and the unfortunately fluctuating quality, I won't treat myself to this often anymore. It has become really disproportionately expensive.

I found this place because I was tired of visiting famous restaurants. This was a truly delicious restaurant🥹 I ate Swabian schnitzel, white sausage, and Riesenberg sausage like this! Swabian schnitzel feels like mushroom cream white on top of neck meat? It didn't taste like the fried schnitzel we were used to, but the sauce was delicious! And the kindness here is endless. They apologized for taking the order late because they were too busy, and they brought the food quickly! If you stay near Munich Ost Station, be sure to come by! This is a place I would go to twice👍👍👍👍

A well-attended, rustic, traditional restaurant that offers good food at a fair price and very good service.

It is a down-to-earth restaurant, conveniently located at the Ostbahnhof, which I have always enjoyed visiting over the years and will continue to do so.

Food was quite amazing maybe tastiest Bavarian I had in Munich in 6years. Portions were generous as well.

We loved it here! All locals eating inside, the decor was charming, the service was fast and friendly, and the food and beer were DELICIOUS (I ordered the Swabian Schnitzel). If you’re looking for a good local Bavarian place away from the usual tourists spots in Munich, this is it.

Typical Bavarian inn with a rustic atmosphere. There are a variety of hearty, classic specialties here. The service was very friendly and attentive and the food was consistently delicious. However, the meat dishes were a bit too dry and the way they were served could have been a bit more creative. The warm atmosphere and friendly service made the evening a lovely experience and I would definitely come here again to try more dishes.

If there were 10 stars I would give them without hesitation. Tender entrecôte prepared to perfection with grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes Plus tasty beer from Altomünster.... What more could you want.... My companion was also very satisfied!!!

Despite being busy, the service was very friendly and quick, as well as delicious food and good beer. Quite fair prices for Munich. Unfortunately, when it's full it gets a bit loud, especially if you sit in the middle. I would still like to come back on my next visit to Munich.

The meals were very tasty. The non-alcoholic light and the Kaiserschmarren were particularly good. The dishes are sumptuous, but manageable. To be sure to get a table, I would recommend booking during peak times. A little tip: The food usually comes to two people, which means that one person always had to wait a while (three people). That's why I recommend that if it's important to take them at the same time, you should ask to receive the dishes at the same time. When I'm back in Munich, I'll be happy to come back.

Genuine German small beer hall atmosphere. The strudel was fantastic.

Service is nice, but the interior looks like you've landed in a treasure trove. The quality of the food is even worse. We paid 70 euros for two people with a very mediocre and tough veal schnitzel, a pretty mediocre beef liver and an underground disgusting, fatty, burnt Kaiserschmarn. Once and unfortunately never again!

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation from my friend, nice atmosphere, food came very quickly and tasted really good, service didn't seem annoyed despite the many guests and was friendly, thanks to the lovely ladies, we'll be back.

Really good food, cozy place, I absolutely loved it. It was definitely authentic German food and that’s what I came looking for. The apple desert with vanilla ice cream was appealing and I just had to have that even though I was pretty full. Good thing I did because it turned out to be amazing as well!

Great local German food! We order fried pork and egg noodles

I'm a regular guest there and have never been disappointed. However, the staff is always open to special requests and there is always time for a small chat with friends. Despite my frequent visits, the food there never gets boring. The menu is so extensive that I can always find something different and still don't have to leave with an empty stomach or feeling hungry. The menu ranges from “home-style” to Flamkuchen and noodles to “old Bavarian”. There are still many dishes there that have unfortunately been banned from the menu in most restaurants. Brünnstein is definitely one of my favorite restaurants!

For us the best restaurant in Munich. The service is the absolute highlight. Friendly, funny and charming. The food was fantastic from all four of us. We will come back next time we visit Munich.

Super!! Discovered just by chance while walking and hungry, it turned out to be the best restaurant we tried during our stay in Munich...best schnitzel I ever had, and spatzle was very good too. Super authentic atmosphere. Highly recommended

What an excellent family restaurant with plenty of local specialties. Loved the Münchner Schnitzel, would absolutely eat this every day. The salad was delicious and refreshing.

My third time in 2 years, I LOVE this restaurant!! Not only is the food outstanding, service and the ambiance are wonderful. But back to the food!!! Wow!!

We tried some classic German cuisine on our last day. The place is beautiful with typical decoration. The terrace is very spacious and covered. Good service and the beers we ordered were delicious. They had an area inside with a tapeworm with typical glasses of beer from €10 to €50, a shame that my phone was charging and I didn't immortalize it. Good prices, normal food. If you want to eat in a typical German place without breaking the bank, this is your restaurant.

I was pretty happy with my food. I had a "small" plate with potatoes, onions, and pork which was very tasty (and a huge portion). My husband had the fish, but the breading was flaking off and the potatoes very bland.
