Gaststätte "Zum Brünnstein" in München

I visited the restaurant yesterday. The roast pork was very good. The service was very friendly and attentive. The price-performance ratio is excellent. I highly recommend Brünnstein.

We waited over an hour and a half for our food, and we hadn't even ordered much. It was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think, and the server was unfriendly, gossiping about the other guests with her colleague. The food itself was edible, but unfortunately, I didn't receive what I ordered. Therefore, I cannot recommend this restaurant. 🫤👎

A classic Bavarian inn with beautiful, traditional decor. The dishes are also classic, in a good way. While the caramelized Kaiserschmarrn, for example, was excellent, the Munich-style schnitzel was a bit disappointing due to its lack of flavor and seasoning. The service is also classically friendly and rustic. Overall, highly recommended, especially since traditional Bavarian inns are becoming increasingly rare!

Delicious German food with great service, in a antique charm atmosphere

A traditional restaurant with very friendly service. We ate there around 2 pm on Boxing Day (beef roulade and Viennese veal schnitzel). It was okay, but nothing more. The service was very friendly and the staff did a great job. Since so many guests seem to have been very satisfied with the food, it's best to see for yourself... if you'd like to.

We actually got lost in Haidhausen. We happened to be standing in front of Brünnstein and spontaneously went in. The fact that we're from Oberaudorf made the decision even easier. We immediately felt very comfortable, even though it was quite busy. Everyone was very satisfied with the delicious food! 😋😋😋😋😋😋 The service was good. It took a little while for our order to arrive, but it was quite busy! We'll definitely come back on our next visit to Munich! We wish the very dedicated team and management a Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year 🍾🥂

It's okay, but nothing special.

This restaurant is located just outside the Munchen Ost Bahnhof, and is very easy to get to using the S Bahn. I went here because of the reviews about the food and the atmosphere. It was 6:30 on a Friday night so I did expect it to be busy and made a reservation in advance. Previous reviewers spoke about the good prices here so that was another reason I chose it. When I arrived, it was very crowded, but I was shown promptly to my table. (solo female traveler ) Unfortunately, it was a table in the middle of the room, and I felt like a bit of a fish in a fishbowl. However, every other seat around me was taken, so I understand. I ordered two Pillsner beers and the veal Cordon Bleu which came with a side salad of shredded cabbages, olives, cold potato salad, and a pickled pepper. The salad was quite good. The portion of Cordon Bleu was huge, but I was a bit surprised that the veal was as tough as it was. (saying tough meant it just wasn’t as tender as I thought it should be not horribly tough) It was prepared well and it was tasty, along with the potatos that came with it. But I wouldn’t call it a memorable meal. The beer was good as well. The total price including tax was €37.90. The restaurant was quite loud with all the people in it, and I can see it’s very much a local meeting spot on a Friday night. That said the waiter and waitress we’re doing an outstanding job keeping up with everyone. Service was prompt and friendly.

I've enjoyed Käsespätzle for many years. I've never had such a small portion. It was definitely not enough to fill me up. Even the other diners were surprised that this tiny portion cost €15.90. Other dishes were a decent size. When I finally plucked up the courage to ask (I thought it must have been a mistake made in a hurry), the owner told me I could order more for €6, as it was listed as a small portion on the menu, which isn't true. (The menu on the website isn't the one they use in the restaurant.) I find this handling of the situation very unacceptable – quite apart from the completely exorbitant price considering the portion size.

We were looking for a place to eat. The food was good value for money; we were all very full. We had no complaints about the taste either. Everything was perfect. The service was also completely fine.

A small, charming Bavarian restaurant, just as you'd imagine! The service was attentive and very friendly. We were seated in the center of the room, which allowed us to fully appreciate the atmosphere! 👍🏼 There's a very extensive menu with daily and weekly specials, as well as classic Bavarian snacks. Definitely something for everyone! We had a Bavarian Cordon Bleu (homemade, highly recommended!) and Leberkäse (Bavarian meatloaf) with potato and cucumber salad...simple but excellent! 🥗🥩🍽️ The beer was also very refreshing! 🤪 We'll definitely be back!

We were there with a large group and had a reservation! The service was excellent; the staff did their best to fulfill all our requests. Drinks arrived very quickly, and the food was freshly prepared and didn't take long to arrive! Simply delicious, good Bavarian cuisine! We'd love to come back again ;-)

The food was okay. Nothing special. Typical Bavarian food. It took 15 min to order drinks. Again a long time for our starters to arrive and the our main course was served while we even hadn't finished the starters. At least the staff was friendly.

I think it's very important that the traditional restaurants in my neighborhood are preserved! And the "Brünnstein" is exactly that. Even though it can be a bit noisy when it's full and the food takes a bit longer, I really like the Brünnstein ❤️.

I was very disappointed with the service. I wanted to eat something with my visitor yesterday. I live on Elsässer Str. An employee (presumably from Poland) was extremely unfriendly, just because I asked for a table. Such behavior is unacceptable, what a shame!

After a long wait of 45 minutes, the food arrived. Unfortunately, each dish arrived at a different time, making it impossible to eat together. Unfortunately, the food was more convincing than fresh. Not recommended.

It was my first time there. From the reservation to the online menu and the food, everything was perfect. I like to eat "in peace," and I found exactly that here. No rushed service, just a wonderful afternoon where we could sit and chat for as long as we wanted. A fantastic place with delicious Bavarian cuisine.

We went for a lunch with family, we ordered schnitzels that were on their week’s menu. The meat and fries felt like the oil hasn’t been changed since the day the opened, the schnitzel smelled really weird. This was the worst experience we had in the area. There plenty of really nice restaurants, we just decided to try this as we have never been there. On top of bad experience, they still charged us for meals we didn’t eat…

If I can give it zero I could. Sat down to an empty restaurant, and didn’t get service for about 20 minutes. We kindly asked the waitress to please help out, but were ignored for locals. Wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not from the area.

In Munich for Oktoberfest we arrived around 7pm and the restaurant was full. However only waited for 5 minutes for our table for 6 to be ready. The restaurant was recommended by staff at the nearby Holiday Inn. Genuine Bavarian restaurant with traditional menu. Just what you want on a cultural visit. That evening the specials were half pork knuckle and roast duck served with potato dumplings. Large portions on the plate. The atmosphere was great and the service was warm and friendly.

While looking for a place for dinner near my hotel, I came across this restaurant. I was absolutely thrilled with the ambiance, the service, and the food. The value for money is also excellent. There's a changing weekly special. I enjoyed it so much that I went back on the second evening of my stay. Highly recommended!

Amazing food, but as an American you receive terrible service. While simply waiting for our check to pay and leave we watched 2 different people walk in, eat, pay, and leave.

The food was great, but we won't be back. Pros: The food is absolutely delicious and served quickly, although the dishes arrive staggered and not at the same time. Why I still wouldn't be back: One server was very aggressive in her manner. First, she dropped salad dressing on my pants and then later, she served me beer again. The food was also served aggressively. I was just finishing my meal and the server practically shoved the side dish right into my hand. At the end, the lady made a nice remark, but we won't be back. We had a business lunch there with a group of about 10 people.

Went here for dinner. When we walked in there wasn't a seat in the place available. As a US Tourist, we dont speak German. When the German speaking waitress came up to us and realized that, she found a worker who speaks English. They pointed us to the outdoor seating, which was very comfortable and relaxing. If you don't know German, be sure to ask for the English menu, as they do have them. Thr fact that they didn't offer English until well after we struggled translating the Deutsch menu is the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars across the board. Other than that, the service was fairly quick for how busy they were, the waitress was nice and the food delicious! It was a little pricy, but not too bad. Definitely worth having dinner one night.

Rustic Bavarian and not snooty Munich

Amazing service. I went to this restaurant in the morning and the waitress Peka (or paka, im sorry if I wrote wrong) she greeted me with huge smile from the morning. I had so many bad experiences from racists in this country so I didnt expect anything, but she made my whole memories changed. Of course food was amazing because of her. I will definitely come back to this restaurant and say thank you to her again.

A lovely old Bavarian restaurant. Unfortunately, it seems to be in a travel guide. The guests are mostly tourists, with only a few locals. The food is mediocre. The cream sauce hardly contains any cream. The service, however, is a spectacle: very energetic and on top of everything.
