Ordered the Munich pork schnitzel and every bit was perfect including the side dishe of potatoes and mixed salad

Was passing through Munich for 1.5 days and found this gem of a restaurant. Very tasty simple Bavarian food and great atmosphere and vibe !

The food was delicious. Dishes were left sitting on the table for a long time. We often had to wait a long time for service. A quaint place.

Good food, friendly service, authentic Bavarian... It's becoming increasingly rare. It's cozy, though, just a large room. So it's not a pub atmosphere, but more of a tavern... but good value for money.

A lovely old Bavarian restaurant. Unfortunately, it seems to be in a travel guide. The guests are mostly tourists, with only a few locals. The food is mediocre. The cream sauce hardly contains any cream. The service, however, is a spectacle: very energetic and on top of everything.

Great food, and great value for money

A wonderful Bavarian restaurant with more competitive prices than most restaurants in the area specializing in its specialty. The decor and service are also excellent. You can pay by card. We didn't need to reserve on a Sunday at 2:30 p.m. We ordered two dishes from the menu and two 0.5-liter drinks, all for €44.90. The dishes are generous, and they also throw in a salad with potato salad at no extra charge. We left very satisfied.

We sat outside in beautiful weather. Service was fast, friendly, attentive, but unobtrusive. The food came quickly and was really good. I wouldn't have expected this near Ostbahnhof. Definitely recommend it.

A definite recommendation! A rustic and cozy atmosphere; it wasn't too crowded even on a Saturday night. The service is very friendly, and the food is fantastic. We had various soups, spaetzle, schnitzel, goulash, and sausages, and everything was outstanding. The Kaiserschmarrn was my personal highlight. I find that many restaurants only make it so-so, but here it's absolutely perfect. You can tell that this restaurant truly understands traditional Bavarian cuisine. I'd be happy to come back anytime!

So if you're dismissed with a blatant insult (just because you can't fit in the bare minimum 5% tip), I can only recommend that you pay attention. Never again.

Authentic Bavarian restaurant offering a variety of local very tasty food. Good service and friendly staff.

We were there on a sunny day and sat outside; the atmosphere was very pleasant and inviting. The service was truly excellent: the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and warm, without being intrusive. We ordered the roast pork, which not only tasted amazing but was also served in a really generous portion. A particularly positive aspect was that instead of the side salad—which we didn't want—we were simply given a second small dumpling. It's a small gesture, but it shows that customer requests are taken seriously and flexibility is a given. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit with great food, friendly staff, and a pleasant outdoor atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

It doesn't get more Bavarian than this. If you want truly Bavarian home cooking and excellent beer, you've come to the right place. Yes, the decor was a bit old-fashioned, but that's exactly the atmosphere you'd expect here in Haidhausen, in this Bavarian restaurant with its very friendly atmosphere and simply a tranquility that prevails in Bavaria—the coziness, the Bavarian Gemütlichkeit. I ate the set menu with the pork knuckle and could barely finish it. Simply a wonderful combination of food and also wonderfully seasoned, and that's exactly how it should be. The wheat beer on tap was very, very good, and I'll definitely be back whenever I come to Munich. So, I highly recommend it for a very simple home cooking cup here in Munich.

Great traditional Munich restaurant and bar, minutes walk from the Ost Banhoff. Delicious food, the Schnitzel was perfect with fried potatoe, with a great menu selection at reasonable prices. Beer was perfect (it is Munich!) and reasonable. Recommended A++, would return for more.

My girlfriend and I went there for dinner. The food and drinks were good to very good. The service was quick and pleasant. I'd love to go back!

Sunday evening, hungry, we happened upon this. A truly quaint inn. When we arrived, only one table was occupied by one person. So, just to be on the safe side, we asked if we could get something to eat. The landlady was super nice, and as the evening progressed, not only did the inn fill up, but we also discovered that there was a terrace somewhere behind the building, which was obviously full :) The menu is huge; everyone is sure to find something here. There's a separate children's menu and also dishes for those with a very small appetite (ham and cheese toasties, sandwiches, etc.). We had a really good meal (roast beef with onions, salad with schnitzel strips and mushrooms, a children's plate with Vienna sausages) and felt very comfortable here. The restrooms are brand new and very clean. The clientele was very diverse: people from the neighborhood, tourists from all over the world. The menu is also available in several languages. When we are back in Munich, we will be happy to come back.

We went there several times after night school during our time at the HWK (Chamber of Crafts), and the food was always very good. Service was attentive and friendly, even when we wanted to eat spontaneously with six people without a reservation. Highly recommended.

The food was wonderful, excellent waitress.

The food was really incomparably good but it was very upsetting that the waiter brought a hair in my salad... Of course, the salad was replaced but it was already a bit unpleasant feeling afterwards. The café is quite noisy and the seats are very hard and uncomfortable. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place to visit for a good traditional german dinner, the only thing is - check if there is no hair in your food 🤣

Discovered this place several years ago when walking to my hotel from the München Ost. Every trip to Munich since, I’ve stayed close by so I get at least one dinner here. Fantastic food, rustic ambience and fair prices.

They provided us a table for 1 hour even while they were actually fully booked. We had a quick typical German style dinner with Schnitzels, baked potato and salad. Very quick service and decent food.

I was a regular customer for decades until my retirement in 2015 (I worked nearby). Today (2025) I returned for the first time and was immediately more than satisfied. I had a set menu from the daily specials. Liver dumpling soup as a starter, chicken schnitzel with potato salad as a main course, and chocolate mousse with whipped cream for dessert. Very good, inexpensive food, served by attentive and very friendly staff. Good food, fair prices, and great service—what more could you want?

A Bavarian restaurant, just like we enjoy it. The food is delicious. The asparagus menu is highly recommended. Now, the service. We received friendly service. When I wanted to pay by card, the waitress came to our table with the bill, shouted the bill amount loudly across the table, and then asked if the amount should stay the same, naturally at a volume that at least the neighboring tables could hear. This behavior is demanding and rude.

The food had low quality and it was very oily and smelly. The pork really stinks. However the waiters were so nice and offered us a free ice cream instead.

The pub has a nice atmosphere and stylish interior, but the service was surprisingly indifferent. Despite the restaurant being half empty, it took quite some effort to get our first beer. After that, we sat for a while with empty glasses and eventually gave up on ordering another round. A bit more attention from the staff would really improve the experience.

It is clear that most diners are tourists or business travelers. The menu is excessive and the dishes are numbered. Never a good sign. The staff is friendly but our food did not come at the same time. The food is mediocre and a bit greasy. My recommendation is to reduce the menu and focus on quality versus quantity. I would not go back.

Beautifully classically furnished Bavarian inn with good beer from Altomünster! The service is nice - but we had to... a. Have been waiting quite a long time at the Obatzter. So far but so good. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my venison schnitzel - all in all it had very little taste. Generally there is a lack of salt - that's ok. Anyone can add more salt themselves, but my dish was generally completely rubbish. The others thought the food was okay. Not outstanding but solidly good. Hence 3 stars. Mine wouldn't be worth it... But maybe sometimes and with some other dishes you have better luck...

I had a veal schnitzel and apfelstrudle. The taste was amazing. My hotel was nearby so I am happy that I’ve found this place. It was quite crowded, so if you are going in a group during a rush hour, I recommend that you reserve a table otherwise you might not find a seat. The menu is classic German, the taste is beyond my expectations. I was solo, so a family was nice enough to share their table with me. The atmosphere was lively. Service was excellent, the staff knew english and they had an english menu as well. The portions are very big so be mindful :) I was completely stuffed for a whole day after my meal. But next time I’m in Munich I will definitely come back.

Tenderloin beef steak was very chewy - had to be prepared better. Soup was good though.

The atmosphere is non existing you have to yell to talk with your party. The waiters qre confused and have no idea what are they bringing. They bring food to Each person at different time. That lead to people getting wrong order, cause waitress had no idea what ahe is holding. Food was okay, goulash meat was a bit to cooked and dry, sauce was okay, no bread tough, no spoons.

Make sure to reserve a table. It is always packed.

Yesterday we celebrated our 45th anniversary of meeting my husband. He brought me to this restaurant. We really liked it. Wiener veal schnitzel turned out to be tastier than in Vienna, we were there too and ate it. Thank you for the delicious food and excellent service, we waited very little time and they brought us food. The salad was excellent, the beer was amazing. Prices are affordable. Yesterday, we had a doubly happy day. Thanks again!!!

A wonderfully old-fashioned, traditional Bavarian restaurant with traditional cuisine in a rustic atmosphere. Here, the food is cooked well “just like in the old days” and served quickly and reliably. Coming back is a given!

Quaint restaurant, very clean and modern toilets. Unfortunately the food was mediocre and the price was too expensive. Service staff friendly, but very uncoordinated, rarely experienced such a mess.
