I spent a week in Passau and visited every day. I must say it was truly exceptional. Everything had its own charm. Highly recommended. Special praise goes to Theresa, although everyone deserves it. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Typical Bavarian cuisine, you feel comfortable, friendly service, good, hearty food, a must-visit for tourists.

The roast pork is amazing! It's very cozy at the Löwen, and the beer garden is lovely too.

It was okay, but that's about it. I didn't really like the food. The atmosphere was alright. Maybe I had too high expectations because of all the reviews.

A truly wonderful inn! The service was outstanding, the food excellent, and the prices very reasonable. We (the three of us) hadn't made a reservation and were able to join an existing table. We were immediately given menus and our drink orders were taken. The excellent service (thanks to Theresa) was a constant throughout our visit. A huge thank you and much appreciation for the lovely time we spent with you.

We specifically stopped by this cafe for the third time. There was always a very large shank and delicious beer. But the last time we were disappointed: for two empty plates, which we asked for convenience, they charged 2 euros each, and the shank was undersalted. It is very unfortunate that the service and atmosphere have deteriorated.

The food, drinks, and atmosphere were fantastic. Typical Bavarian. The prices were very reasonable, and you get a decent portion. You can't eat better in the heart of Passau.

A lovely and interesting place overall. We attended an information evening. The hospitality was very warm and the place was spotless. The only slight drawback was the weak extractor fan from the kitchen... that could be improved... but we would gladly come back.

A typical Bavarian inn, bright and rustically furnished. Friendly service, always attentive and quick. The food was absolutely delicious. The duck skin was flavorful and crispy. The mixed grill platter with various meats was also delicious and cooked to perfection. A pork knuckle was brought past, which also looked incredibly appetizing, with light, fluffy crackling all over. We'll definitely be back! 🤩

The food is good and the portions are large. Prices are also OK. A 500ml beer costs €4.70. The staff is friendly and efficient.

I regularly eat the pork knuckle here for just under €21. It's very large and comes with a delicious dark gravy, two small potato dumplings, and sauerkraut. The beer could have been poured better for just under €4.70, which is why I'm not giving it four stars. The atmosphere is rustic, and the service is quick and attentive, which isn't something you'd take for granted these days.

The absolute highlight is the draft beer and pork roast. Very friendly service staff.

The beer garden is located under beautiful chestnut trees, providing pleasant shade. The food was good and the service friendly. Unfortunately, my meal arrived significantly later than that of the others in our group. The proximity to the road somewhat dampens the atmosphere, as motorcycles roar past intermittently. Some of the restrooms are in need of renovation. Overall, a solid place with a few minor flaws.

In conclusion: If you want to eat well and feel comfortable in Passau, you should definitely stop by the Bayerischer Löwe. A clear recommendation – we will definitely be back!

On Sunday lunchtime we wanted to have a nice meal, we were looked after by a Therasa who served us very unfriendly because of our appearance, we paid for our food and drink but because of this discrimination because of our appearance we get no respect which people should give to other people...The food was prompt but in my opinion the service staff is not suitable for this job.

I loved it there, and the food was fantastic; I'd go back anytime. The beer garden was in the middle of town, but it was wonderfully quaint and very cozy; we felt very comfortable.

A good Bavarian restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. I have to make some concessions with the food; it's designed for mass consumption, and therefore, in my opinion, the food is only average. So, it's not bad, but it's not particularly good compared to other smaller restaurants. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Service is good, but we were annoyed that we received the starter salad at the same time as the main course. You want to eat in peace and not feel like your table is just waiting to be cleared.

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel. Excellent Bavarian antipasti, amazing cheese spaetzle, and delicious schnitzel. The children's menu was also great. All around, the food was hearty and good. And top-notch service.

Great view of the Inn River. A terrace is right next door. If you like, there's live Bavarian music. Otherwise, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Great prices, decent quality, nothing more.

The reviews didn't lie, it's a great company

First of all. We have been going there for dinner about 2 to 3 times for over 15 years. Our last visit on May 2nd, 2025 was good in terms of food. The only problem was paying. We had eaten and drank and the waiter wanted to settle the bill because he wanted to have lunch. Everything okay. But then we ordered something to drink and then wanted to pay. When we got the bill, we noticed that there was one beer and one Aperol too many on the bill. When I pointed this out to the waitress (THERESA), she said we should drink less alcohol next time, then at least we would know what we had drunk. It was an absolute shame for me to accuse myself of ALCOHOLISM even though I still had to go to Wels. Definitely the last visit for my wife and me because we could have saved ourselves that statement. P.s.: We left a 15 euro tip on two bills

Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft und wurde zeitnah serviert. Der telefonische Kontakt wegen der Reservierung war auch sehr gut! Was uns sehr fasziniert hat: Jede der Servicekräfte war total freundlich und gut drauf. Man hat richtig gemerkt, daß die alle Spaß bei der Arbeit haben! Sehr gut! Weiter so!! Wir können das Restaurant vorbehaltlos empfehlen!!!

Not bike friendly!! At eleven o'clock at noon the beer garden was still almost empty. I wanted to park my bike there next to my table so I could keep an eye on it. Unfortunately this is not tolerated. Absolutely not recommended!

We got a table spontaneously. Experienced Bavarian tavern charm in what felt like a somewhat hectic atmosphere (sat near the kitchen). The food was impeccable, as were the cyclists. Anyone who likes classic Bavarian cuisine is in good hands.

We arrived in Passau. It was raining wildly. We walked around and discovered this beautiful inn. Inviting from the outside and inside, you immediately felt at home. The atmosphere is rustic and Bavarian. You are served immediately and the menu leaves nothing to be desired in Bavaria. Priced as usual. But taste excellent. The Bavarian delicacy platter was very tasty. With Obazda, Erdäpfelkas etc. Highly recommended. And the house beer has a gigantic taste and finish 👍 you'll want to stop drinking Ned The inn is highly recommended. You feel good when you feel good. The Wirtshaus Bayerischer Löwe is a super nice restaurant with regional cuisine in a central location in Passau's old town. The rooms are quaint and cozy, and the beer garden “in the middle of the city” is simply great in summer. The staff are friendly and attentive, so you immediately feel at home here. The menu offers many regional dishes and the food tastes really good, for example the Löwen-Pfandl, the house-style cheese spaetzle or the Swiss sausage salad. And the little guests will also find what they are looking for and be happy here.

Hello, I was just there with my boyfriend and had something to drink, so I honestly don't know if all the female waitresses there have a bad love life, but that was really underground! The 3 stars only go to the nice waiters, who should of course also be mentioned. I was made to feel like I wasn't welcome! I'm a server myself and I know how stressful it can be, but I would never make a guest feel worthless! Just because we wanted to finish our drink inside because it was raining outside there was a discussion in front of us, I would understand if the table had been reserved or other guests had been waiting, but no, just like that. The whole thing was very traumatic! Thank God Passau has even more to offer! But really sad about the foreign, very nice waiters who really tried and stood up for us!

I have rarely experienced such rude and unfriendly staff as at Löwenbräu in Passau - especially the female waitresses. From the first contact you were greeted with an expression on your face as if you were being a bother just because you wanted to order something. No smile, no friendliness - just stroppy and dismissive. We first sat down outside, where the waitress served us with a level of unfriendliness that was second to none. When it got colder later, we wanted to sit inside - a completely normal wish. But instead of showing understanding, we were literally shouted at by another waitress about how dare we just go inside. It literally said that this was “only for guests who are eating” and since we had only ordered drinks, we were not welcome there. Instead we were told to move to some standing tables - completely disrespectful and condescending. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant of this type. We were stunned, paid immediately and left the restaurant. The entire interaction with guests was dubious, dismissive and completely unacceptable. I can only advise everyone not to go there. Fortunately, there are many other restaurants in Passau with good service - the Löwenbräu is definitely not one of them.

The portion was huge - everyone gets their money's worth here! The meat was super tender and wonderfully crispy on the outside. The sauce: a dream, really spicy and round in taste. There is also a really nice beer garden with a really cozy atmosphere. The service was quick and friendly – ​​an all-round great experience. Absolutely recommended!

Very tasty food and really great service

It's a shame, Reindl ordered, everything should be fresh. The crusty roast was the end piece and was dry and without a crust. After a complaint, the service manager brought two slices of crust. Then to the supposed crisp 1/4 duck, totally dry and overcooked, as if it had been lying around for a long time. Only the two dumplings were warm, the rest, including the red cabbage, weren't even lukewarm. And when you complain to the service management you are also contacted, unfortunately no ability to criticize.

Waiting 30 minutes for the waiter was really bad because there wasn't much going on. 1 hour until the food arrived wasn't convincing either, even though everything had already been ordered from the start. Food was ok but nothing special. It was very loud from the street in the beer garden. I'm used to better things.

Went to the beer garden yesterday with my girlfriend for a cool blonde… half of the seats were reserved and the others were occupied. When, after some searching, we found a place without a reserved card, after about ten minutes of waiting we were told we should sit somewhere else, the table belongs to the table next to it and both are reserved. I replied that we were only there for a quick drink and there was no reserved sign on the table. (Approximately 20 tables free - rest occupied) The very unfriendly lady simply places the reserved card on our table and makes it clear to us that there is no room for us here! Last time I was there as a Passauer!! Such disgusting staff!!

Good down-to-earth Bavarian cuisine

Inviting beer garden in the middle of the city, but unfortunately on a busy street. We would have liked to have eaten in the afternoon, but due to the staff's poor communication/team spirit, everything went haywire. A hard-working and unfortunately overwhelmed waiter was unfortunately not supported by his colleagues, who were obviously underutilized. After an hour we were interrupted while ordering food due to other more important issues. The order taking would not continue even 10 minutes later. The food on the neighboring tables looked very tasty, we would have liked to have enjoyed it.

I had a fantastic experience with Stackt last month! The team was polite, efficient, and their storage pricing was one of the best deals I found. A five-star experience all around!

We are visiting the Bavarian Forest from Berlin and wanted to have a really nice Bavarian meal. It worked 100% here! Rustic atmosphere, the service was super friendly (also to our little dog, water was even brought for the dog "without ordering" ❤️) and the food was simply incredibly delicious! Even as a vegetarian, I had a good selection here and I would have loved to have the Kaiserschmarrn (it had raisins and I really enjoyed eating it, even though I really don't like raisins). The portions were also huge and the friendly waitress packed everything for us to take away. Card payment was also possible. So an absolute recommendation! 😊

Food came quickly and was excellent But the staff was unfriendly and annoyed The reason for this was that we were in traditional costume, which unfortunately is no longer so popular in Bavaria. I won't come again because of the staff. Tradition is just as much a part of it as the beer they sell
