We spontaneously stopped by for dinner yesterday. Great atmosphere at Residenzplatz! Excellent service, friendly staff. The food was incredibly delicious. We had the grilled goat cheese as a starter, which was a real taste experience. The main courses were from the weekly menu: tagliatelle with chanterelle cream and baked potato with vegetables. Both were incredibly delicious and highly recommended. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly seasoned. Excellent value for money! We had two drinks with them and paid a good €50. We'll definitely be back, as we discovered a few more items on the menu that we liked ;)

The restaurant is located a bit off the main tourist trail, yet in a beautiful alley connecting Rezident Platz with the Inn River promenade. If you choose a seat inside, you will be more comfortable. The restaurant offers quality traditional Bavarian cuisine, good draft beer and fast service, which I admired for the fact that they still managed to run a few dozen meters to the square, where in the summer they serve on the terrace.

The schnitzel and fries were good. You can't go wrong with them. The beef goulash was delicious. It was lovely sitting outside by the fountain.

This restaurant changed owners in April 2025. The menu is Bavarian/German, with good quality food. The ambiance is excellent in the summer, when you can sit on the Residenzplatz – the most beautiful square in the old town with an Italian flair, in front of the new Residenz. This restaurant is ideal if you want to present Passau at its best to your guests.

We were in town today as tourists and were looking for something spontaneous. The "Goldene Waage" turned out to be a lucky find. The dishes were all delicious. The ambiance in the outdoor area by the fountain is very nice. But the service deserves special mention. The staff was very friendly and extremely eager to please us. Considering the distance between the restaurant and the outdoor area by the fountain, the ladies should be paid by the kilometer.

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner today. Especially in summer, it's lovely to sit right next to the Wittelsbach Fountain at the Resi. We ordered a shandy and a light beer, along with a classic pork roast with dumplings and Stöcklkraut, and a Bavarian Frühschoppen (white sausages with pretzels). The service was friendly, and the drinks and food arrived super quickly. The food was absolutely solid and delicious, and at €34 with drinks, it was practically a bargain. We enjoyed it and would love to come back!

After a very pleasant and delicious private visit, we decided to host our 2024 work Christmas party there - definitely a very good choice: delicious dishes, attentive and professional service, and a very cozy ambience (vaulted ceiling, soundproofing).

Unfriendly staff, I ordered a frozen latte, what I got was outrageous, served without love and then had to pay 4.90 for it. Without foam, without anything. Simply iced coffee from Tetrapak! Never again!

We had a wonderful seat on the terrace next to the fountain. The schnitzel tasted excellent, the asparagus was al dente and very tasty, as were the aromatic parsley potatoes. I also didn't expect such an attractive presentation in a tavern. We found the price-performance ratio to be very good. Despite the limited staff, the service was super friendly and fast. We would come back at any time, thank you very much!

You can sit very nicely inside or outside directly on the Residenzplatz. We chose indoors and were very happy with our visit to the Golden Scales. This mainly has to do with the very good food, but also with the nice service. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly.

Were outside of the restaurant in wonderful weather. This gave me a nice view of the picturesque Residenzplatz. The service was very friendly and quick. I was able to enjoy the spinach dumplings (twice, since I was there twice). Man, they were delicious.

Very friendly restaurant, couldn't be more central in the old town of Passau, where we were welcomed very kindly and had a very pleasant lunch on the terrace. The menu is varied, at reasonable prices. We recommend !

The char fillet was to die for! The curd slices and the homemade iced tea also tasted very good. The food was served very quickly, there was no waiting time and the staff was very attentive and friendly!

A beautiful inn with charm and style, newly renovated and harmoniously furnished. The innkeepers are super nice and our dishes: asparagus cream soup, roast pork and pan-fried schnitzel, were very tasty, delicately seasoned and decently portioned. Experts were at work here and at a very fair price. We'd love to come back!

Price-performance unacceptable €7.90 for an Aperol Spritz is a proud price. Then the ratio according to the International Bar Association with 3 parts Prosecco (9 cl), 2 parts Aperol (6 cl) and 1 part soda water (3 cl) should also be adhered to. Instead, soda water is mostly poured, Prosecco is added and topped up with Aperol. In my opinion this is not possible and is unreasonable for the price.

The outdoor area is located directly on Residenzplatz and is very comfortable to sit in. The food is home-style and very tasty. The service was super nice and the service was quick, despite being busy. To eat we had mixed roast pork and tagliatelle with wild garlic.

Unfortunately, the second visit was less convincing. Very unfortunate. Very tasty food and the service is great too!

Very nice and cozy restaurant in the old town of Passau. Although everything was already fully booked, the extremely friendly and personable staff were able to accommodate us for another hour and we really enjoyed our time here. The food was delicious, the prices were moderate and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Absolutely recommended!

A very nice guesthouse in the center of Passau and close to the cathedral. The atmosphere is very cozy. The staff is friendly, accommodating and takes great care of the guests' well-being. For example, special requests (no tomatoes in my fried chicken salad) were taken into account and implemented. The prices are particularly fair and absolutely reasonable, especially for the city and today in general. It's very nice to sit here. The waiting times for food are also completely normal and within limits. And now the most important thing: the food tasted absolutely delicious. Another visit to the golden scales is reserved for my next visit to Passau.

Nice restaurant, very friendly service, good beer, unfortunately the cheese spaetzle wasn't particularly special, too cheesy and no taste.

Top !!! Bayerische Küche !! Essen frisch, heiß und MEGALECKER. Große Auswahl auf der Karte am 26.12.23. Service freundlich, flott und zuvorkommend. Räumlichkeiten toll, schönes Ambiente, sauber, gemütlich einladend. Wir werden wieder kommen :)

Meine Jugendjahre habe ich in Passau verbracht. Mit 18 Jahren konnte ich endlich fliehen - aus der damals extrem von Kirche, Partei und Presse geprägten Stadt. Wie schön ist es nun, die Stadt zu durchstreifen und auf Entdeckungen wie die "Goldene Waage" zu stoßen. Ein tolles Lokal, wo alles stimmt: Die Speisekarte ist ehrlich und authentisch, die Gerichte sehr gut, die Bedienung ein Traum von Freundlichkeit und die Einrichtung stimmt. Auch die Lichtstimmung in den Räumen ist perfekt. Alles ist gut gemacht und ich freue mich schon auf die nächste richtig heiße Rinderbrühe - nach einem Winterspaziergang ist das ein wunderbarer Einstieg in den Waage-Genußaufenthalt.

Nach der Renovierung ist es innen sehr schön. Essen war sehr gut. Leider ist der bekannze Lillet dort anders, hat uns nicht geschmeckt.

Aus Pizzeria wurde Bayerisches Restaurant mit Charme. Pizza wurde abgelöst durch Schweinebraten, Calamari durch Backhendlsalat und Pasta durch vegane Ratatouille. Also nicht von alten Rezensionen verwirren lassen ;) Versteckt hinter dem Passauer Dom mitten in der Altstadt Passau, serviert die neue goldene Waage mit charmanten Bedienungen schnell was die bayerische Küche im Hintergrund auf den Teller zaubert. Traditionell aber mit dem gewissen Etwas ist hier für den kleinen bis zum großen Hunger was dabei. Vegetarier und veganer finden hier auch Gerichte, die es so in anderen Restaurants nicht gibt. Wir hatten einen schönen Abend mit dem ein oder anderen Lacher zusammen mit der freundlichen Bedienung. Definitiv eine Empfehlung.

Das Gasthaus Goldene Waage in Passau überzeugt nicht nur mit köstlichem Essen, sondern auch mit erstklassigem Service und einer gelungenen Renovierung, die das Ambiente aufwertet. Besonders empfehlenswert sind die Weißwürste und die Rahrbaberschorle. Ein kulinarischer Genuss, den ich gerne weiterempfehle – hier trifft exzellente Küche auf eine angenehme Atmosphäre.

Wir waren mit 3 Personen eingekehrt. Im kleinen Lokal gab's dann für uns nur einen großen Tisch. Im Laufe des Abends setzten sich noch 3 uns unbekannte Paare an unseren Großtisch. Es entstand unerwartet ein sehr gesprächsreiche und angenehme Unterhaltung. Essen (Fisch, Fleisch) war hervorragend, großes Lob an die Küche! Beim nächsten Besuch in Passau geht's wieder dorthin.

Gute Lage bedeutet ja leider nicht immer auch gute Küche. Hier schon. Wir waren zur Mittagszeit da und haben hervorragend gegessen. Gehobene bayerische Küche, dazu preislich völlig ok. Zudem eine sehr nette Bedienung. Sofern es uns noch einmal nach Passau verschlägt, kommen wir gerne wieder.

Wir waren sehr positiv überrascht von dem neuen Lokal unter dem bekannten alten Namen.

Kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen, da eine tolle Location (drinnen, wie auch draußen), gemütliche Atmosphäre, sehr sympathische und flinke Crew, und leckeres Essen jeder Art, für Fleischfreunde wie auch für Veggies, von einer vielfältigen und abwechslungsreichen Speisekarte - zu vernünftigen Preisen. Übrigens: Als vor einigen Wochen ein Mitglied unserer Reisegruppe vor dem Lokal zusammenbrach, brachte man uns (obwohl man noch geschlossen war!) aus der Goldenen Waage sofort und ungefragt eine Flasche Wasser zur Hilfe. Sehr stark. Aus all diesen Gründen, auch in Zukunft immer wieder gerne!

Wir waren jetzt schon öffter seit der Neueröffnung dort und ich muss sagen das jeder Besuch sehr zufriedenstellend war. Das Personal ist auf Zack, zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich. Die Gerichte sind durch die wechselnde Tageskarte sehr abwechslungsreich und Kreativ, egal ob Vegetarier oder Fleischesser, jeder kommt hier auf einem hohen Niveau auf seinen Geschmack. Der "Biergarten" versprüt durch seine Schlichtheit und dem Residenzbrunnen ein angenehmes Ambiente, hier lässt es sich bei 1-2 Haus-Cocktails gut verweilen. Der Gastraum wirkt durch seine Gewölbe-Architektur und der Holzeinrichtung wie ein Mix aus Urig modernen.

A nice little place in the heart of Passau center. Food is very delicious 😋. Service is also very good. Reasonably priced for what they serve (mostly traditional Bavarian food). Goulasch was on point paired with Knödel. Atmosphere is ok for lunch time, but I can imagine it being much better in the evening. We will visit again.

Tolles Lokal an traumhaften Platz. Die Küche ist ausgezeichnet. Die Karte ist übersichtlich und sehr schön gestaltet. Hier findet jeder etwas. Hatte eine kleine Betriebsfeier mit 8 Personen. Es war ein sehr schöner Platz reserviert und jeder hat das Lokal gelobt. Die Preise sind angemessen. Das Essen ist auf einem hohen Standard, Gratulation der Köchin. Die Aperetivs waren super, mit Glasstrohhalm serviert und auch eine Eigenkreation war dabei. Die Nachspeisen mit Eis und Kaffe sind ein Gedicht. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und professionell. Kompliment auch an die Geschäftsleitung. Der Umbau ist gut gelungen und die goldene Waage hat ihre Seele behalten Dank an die Brauerei. Ich kenne das Lokal schon über 60 Jahre, als ich als Bub Bier für meinen Vater am Strassenausschank holte. Das Lokal ist sehr zu empfehlen.
