The dumplings were served in the most delicious sauce I've had in a long time. The backyard is also very cozy and romantic. The staff is super friendly, and the dessert is simply heavenly 😋 I highly recommend it and will definitely be back ✨

We chose the guesthouse because of its excellent location. The room was large, tidy, the accommodation fulfilled its purpose of “sleeping”. It’s a shame that the rooms are not equipped with a TV, nowadays it’s common to lie down in front of the TV together in the evening. The staff was nice, friendly. The breakfast was delicious, overall positive impressions for us. A little problem with parking, since it’s in the center, but even that can be solved if you’re not too lazy to walk a bit :)

We ate there last night and had the beef roulande and beef goulash. The quality and taste were excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It was a bit on the expensive side, but I've rarely had such a perfect evening in a restaurant. A highlight of my visit to Passau.

The food was very disappointing. My salad had barely any dressing, and it tasted like nothing. The service, however, was excellent, hence the 2 stars.

We cycled past here, and Stefi, the waitress, gave us a warm welcome and was very friendly. We'd love to come back.

A venerable old house in excellent condition, located right in the center and not far from the Danube and the boat docks. The owners and staff take loving care of their guests.

A cozy Bavarian restaurant with large portions – you'll definitely be full here, but the prices are a bit steep. Unfortunately, the service was rather poor: We had to go to the bar to order more drinks, as hardly anyone wandered over to our table inside (the beer garden was probably busier). Unfortunately, the schnitzel was far too peppered, which spoiled the good impression of the food, but the salad was okay.

One of the most beautiful inns I've ever visited. The friendly staff served us a delicious meal and a delicious wheat beer at 9:30 p.m. without any hassle. The absolutely beautiful courtyard invites you to linger. The food is lovingly prepared and presented, and the service is very, very friendly. I would happily give this place 6 stars if I could. A beautiful, old hotel with charm and a homely atmosphere. High-quality solid wood furniture and a comfortable bed. Great location in the heart of the old town, yet still quiet. We've already stayed there twice and would love to come back.

Located in the heart of the old town, the restaurant/hotel boasts a charming and inviting ambiance. The historic buildings and narrow alleyways contribute to the special atmosphere and create a perfect backdrop for a cozy meal and overnight stay. The outstanding cuisine deserves special mention: the dishes are not only beautifully presented, but also extremely tasty and creatively prepared. A true culinary experience amidst picturesque surroundings. The rooms have been lovingly restored, preserving the old floorboards and stucco ceilings, thus exuding a special charm. The triple room offered two separate rooms, ensuring additional comfort and privacy. The bathroom/toilet was opposite the room, but this did not intrude in any way. 01/08/2025 This is the second time we've stayed at the Goldenes Schiff, starting our mountain bike tour from here – and we're completely satisfied again this year! Our review from last year is still completely accurate. We'd like to particularly highlight the fact that there are no televisions in the rooms – we think that's great! On vacation, we don't need constant entertainment; we value peace, relaxation, and true relaxation. That's exactly what we find here. We'd love to come back!

A wonderful old inn with charm and a prime location close to the Three Rivers Point. Delicious food at the inn, and we had a lovely, large room with great mattresses. And no TV, which was very convenient. We received lots of information about sights, had a taxi arranged, and even borrowed an umbrella. We felt like family. Thank you very much.

On a warm summer day, at the end of our bike tour along the Deutsche Donauradweg, we went somewhere in Passau to eat. There is a lot of choice. Not every company has a cool (indoor) garden. Goldenes Schiff does!!! Great food, great service. Recommended.

We spent three nights at the Golden Ship on our bike tour. The staff is always very friendly and attentive, even when things get hectic. The food is delicious – there's a delicious selection for vegetarians. The rooms are simply furnished with tasteful details. The very old house has been allowed to remain as it is, without any frills. We really liked that. Bicycles are safely stored in the basement.

During our visit to Passau, we were lucky enough to eat at the Golden Schiff. The food, price, and service were all excellent. The service in the beer garden was very good; we sat in the pergola. Always friendly, attentive, and unhurried. Thank you very much, we'll be back.

We had dinner at the Golden Ship. The food was delicious, but the waitress didn't seem very motivated. She was playing on her phone when we arrived, which didn't make a good impression.

My brother and I were cycling and stayed at the guesthouse for two days. We received a very friendly welcome, and our bikes were safely stored. Since we didn't have any bike locks with us, this was very important to us. The room was very nice. Anteroom and a large, comfortable double bed. The old walls were authentically restored. Tidy, almost spartanly furnished, yet absolutely adequate, with plenty of space for pleasant thoughts. A beautiful place...to sleep and dream. Right in the heart of the quiet old town! The food is local cuisine, a bit Mediterranean, and very select. All organic. Delicious salads, vegetarian/vegan dishes, and meat dishes from select organic farms. There's something for everyone. We had, for example, cheese spaetzle and fresh salads. Very tasty! Along with delicious beer and white wine. There's also a wine list with selected natural and organic wines, etc. Great! We had the impression that there were many locals among the guests. I, too, would gladly visit the restaurant again and recommend it to others. We didn't even bother to eat anywhere else. I also got the impression that those in charge there make a real effort to ensure that guests and the very friendly staff have a good time. Honest cuisine with natural products and simple yet heartfelt details simply create a truly authentic, good atmosphere, without any frills or hidden agendas. Very trustworthy in every respect, just as I would like. Thank you for the wonderful hours in your beautiful house and beer garden!

It was incredibly good here. Very, very friendly here at the Golden Ship. Everyone was hospitable. Service and arrangements were very good. You can also leave your bikes safely parked here; there's a special, locked bike cellar. The food is very delicious (they cook great homemade food here, which tastes great; everything is sourced locally). The rooms are simple and straightforward, and perfectly adequate, whether you're staying for several weeks, a week, a day, or just spontaneously (it doesn't always have to be a luxury room). The location is perfect: close to the city, the Danube, and the other rivers that are here. It's close to the train station and bus stops; everything can be reached easily on foot in about 13 minutes. Will I come back? We booked the hotel for one night and it was good for sleeping. Unfortunately there was no TV and the bathroom was opposite the room. I'm sure I overlooked this option when booking, but given this perspective I wouldn't book an overnight stay like this again. The breakfast was okay and the location anyway.

We were there in a larger group (11 people). When we made the reservation, we were promised a good table for discussions. Once there we sat at a normal long table. There were various misunderstandings when taking orders. When ordering the wine from the extensive wine list, we were repeatedly told that the chosen wine was no longer in stock. The food came very staggered. Eating together was not possible. The food (pancake soup, roast pork and apple rings) tasted good. Unfortunately, the rather high prices are not appropriate due to the poor service. Unfortunately no recommendation.

The location is unique - just a few minutes from the Domplatz and Residenzplatz as well as the other highlights of Passau! Reception, service and written information first class, breakfast inexpensive. We felt very well looked after.

We didn't have a reservation, but were lucky that a spot just became available. We were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere is rustic and comfortably furnished. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but not intrusive. The menu offers home-style cooking with a good selection of vegetarian dishes. The portions are generous and the food tastes very good. The price-performance ratio is consistent. A small disadvantage: the restaurant is not barrier-free. Overall, a recommended restaurant for anyone who appreciates a cozy atmosphere and good, down-to-earth cuisine!

The lunch menu (two dishes changing daily; vegetarian vs. meat) is particularly recommended. While the ship's regular menu is quite expensive, you can get a very tasty and plentiful meal for €11.80 at lunchtime. Of course, the regular menu is also available at lunchtime, so those willing to spend a little more can choose from a wide variety of dishes.

Quality Bavarian inn. Orientation towards the idea of ​​slow food, many ingredients are organic. That's why there are also vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, although the focus is on meat. I had a very decent blood and liver sausage. Pleasant service, because of a slight delay in dessert they didn't want to charge me for the espresso. The simply but beautifully furnished guest rooms are not very large, I would recommend making a reservation.

Kitchen to feast on!!! Excellent and reminded me of my grandmother's great dishes: pancake soup with just the right extra pancake, a roast pork that doesn't come as a slice, but as a tenderly falling apart piece of excellent meat, handmade dumplings, the freshest salad and apple fritters with vanilla ice cream like before. It was super tasty and the service was as warmly Bavarian as you can rarely find. The prices are more than fair - considering the consciously chosen local (organic) products. Thank you for an evening of tasting, chatting and being comfortable.

Good inn! I particularly like that they pay attention to the origin of the meat here. Absolute recommendation! It's a shame that you can't make the opening times and company holidays so accessible that you don't have to constantly stand in front of a closed door.

Yesterday I went on a day trip with my wife in beautiful Passau. (As Upper Austrians, we don't have to go far). Came to dinner in the golden ship spontaneously and by chance. It was very comfortable. Good food, good 🍺 and very friendly service. The prices were also very moderate. We are used to something different in Austria (higher taxes). Recommended and everything was great.

Quiet guesthouse close to the center in a listed building, good breakfast, friendly service - ideal for sight seeing in Passau and at the start of a Danube cruise

Unfortunately, our visit to the golden ship was more than disappointing. We were there over the holidays and almost nothing went right. The ox tongue and the zander fillet were the only dishes that tasted halfway. The sauce for the roast pork was much too thin, almost like broth mixed with water, and the meat was not tough but quite dry. The potato dumpling just didn't taste like anything. The pumpkin lasagna I ordered instead was sour and had no hint of pumpkin flavor. Unfortunately, the sauce for the Burgundy roast and the roulades tasted a lot like ready-made tomato soup and the size of the roulades was really cheeky. The presentation of the desserts is almost funny if it weren't so sad. The service was basically friendly, but unfortunately very stressed, and the complaint about the food was not properly addressed. An answer like “no one has ever complained about the roast pork” is simply not appropriate and does absolutely nothing for me as a customer. By the way, this sentence was said about three times before a solution was offered. I fully understand that the restaurant industry is stressful, especially during the holidays, but such a defensive reaction to a completely normal complaint (which probably happens every day) is not right. I rarely complain when I visit, nor do I like to write bad reviews, but what was delivered was simply an absolute disgrace. We expected a lot from the Golden Ship, but this quality at these prices is really unacceptable. The good reviews are absolutely incomprehensible to me.

A quaint and cozy restaurant in downtown Passau with very friendly service. The food is good, but there is room for improvement in terms of taste and presentation. If the sauce itself (which is very limited) for boiled beef has little flavor and you think you can add flavor with grated horseradish, then unfortunately that doesn't work. Even the extremely lovingly decorated pancake is only moderately impressive due to its presentation. You can do this privately, but as a restaurant the presentation of the food should also appear professional. I still had a good evening in the restaurant, but a significant improvement in quality is possible.

My work colleagues and I spent a night in the Golden Ship. Our stay was very nice. The room was very clean and more than enough for one night and 5 people. The breakfast was very tasty and the staff was courteous. The best thing was the price-performance ratio and the location, both were unbeatable!!

I've known the Golden Ship as a guesthouse for two years, but I can't say anything about the hotel. The inn lives primarily from its rustic, old ambience, like many things in Passau. The food tastes good, but is not exceptional. Real tavern food. The so-called “Slow Food” certification is emphasized there. I have the feeling that this is mainly used to justify the prices. One thing I notice every time I'm there: the servers often discuss roster difficulties in the bar area. You can hear that things aren't going well. The last time a server left the service early using an excuse and the untrained, overwhelmed student was then alone. I was not satisfied with the service from this very young woman. The boss doesn't seem to be there often; I only saw him briefly once.

I had the best roast beef with onions ever here at the Goldenes Schiff! It had a beautiful crust on the outside and was tender and pink on the inside! It came with deliciously crispy fried potatoes and a mountain of crispy onions. At €34, it's certainly still quite cheap, but anyone who wants it will be delighted.

The inn scores with its cozy atmosphere - a pleasant place to eat in a relaxed manner. The food was fresh and well prepared. The cheese pätzle were hearty and seasoned just right, and the pumpkin lasagna pleasantly surprised us with its delicate seasoning. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the stay pleasant. We can't say anything about the hotel as we were only there to eat. Overall, a successful visit that we would happily recommend.

Solch einen gastronomischen Betrieb gibt’s heute eher selten: kleine Karte, ehrliches Essen, tolle Weine! Ich kann nicht erinnerten, dass ich jemals Rinderouladen bestellt hätte. Im „Schiff“ schon. Aufmerksam wurden wir allein durch den Tip an der Rezeption unseres Hotels. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht! Die Rouladen köstlich und auch das „Schnitzel Wiener Art“, bei dem es sich sonst um ein paniertes Schweineschnitzel handelt, war hier dünn geklopft und ausgebacken. Köstlich! Im Schiff trifft man übrigens „Einheimische“ - auch ein Qualitätsmerkmal.

Wir haben zu zweit 3 Übernachtungen in der dazugehörigen Pension verbracht und sind rundum zufrieden. Einen Abend haben wir auch dort gegessen: Solide, bayerisch, gut. Sehr nette Bedienung. Gerade auch als Unterkunft ist das Haus zu empfehlen, super Lage, sehr geschmackvoll ausgestattet. Auf der Webseite bekommt man einen wirklich guten Eindruck, was die Ausstattung angeht. Sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, wir würden wiederkommen.

Der zorrozwo war hier samt Entourage zu einem Abendessen an einem lauen Sommerabend im August. Es war sehr schön. Der Service war aufmerksam und charmant, die Atmosphäre im kleinen Garten ganz bezaubernd. Lobenswert ist die Weinkarte u.a. mit Rieslingkönig Clemens Busch. Das Aldersbacher Bier ist aber vermutlich nicht jedermanns Fall. Die Speisen haben uns sehr gemundet, der Schweinsbraten unglaublich mürb und mit toller Kruste. Auch die Boulaibaisse, die man nicht unbedingt in einem bayrischen Wirtshaus erwarten darf, war ausgezeichnet und ein Beweis dafür das die Küche und das Team sehr ambitioniert sind. Auch die kids, die am Nachbartisch mit Spätzle und Knödel versorgt wurden hatten sichtlich Freude am Essen und Trinken. Danke, und bis zum nächsten Mal. zorrozwoa

Wie schon gesagt, ist der Rosengarten hinterm Haus und der Service nett und okay. Man sollte sich halt nicht an abgestellten Krempel stören lassen. Das Essen ist unterstes Niveau. Wir haben Kassprrssknödel gegessen und den kalten Braten und beides war einfach nur eine Frechheit. Die Kaspressknödel bestanden eigentlich nur auch Semmelbrösel und hatten kaum Käse. Man kam sich vor, als ob man nur gepresstes PanierMehl in einer Suppe ist. Ungenießbar und eine Frechheit. Der kalte Schweinebraten war lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht mit vier Eihälften und ein bisschen Grünzeug. Absolut nicht lohnenswert und schade, dass es so eine schlechte Qualität an Essen war. Hier würden wir nie wieder hingehen.

Aller guten Dinge sind drei! Bei meinem ersten Besuch gab es eine Spinatlasagne. Beim zweiten Besuch Tafelspitz mit Wurzelgemüse und Salzkartoffel und beim dritten Besuch einen Kartoffelauflauf mit Schinken und Salat. Alles war frisch zubereitet und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Darum wurde ich zum Wiederholungstäter. Die Bedienungen freundlich und der schöne Rosengarten bot Ruhe abseits von Straßen und Geschäften.

Ein richtig gutes Essen, von vegan bis deftig, appetitlich serviert. Nicht zu vergessen die sehr freundliche, verständnisvolle Bedienung, immer einen guten Spruch drauf.

Wir waren bei zwei Kurzreisen nach Passau binnen zwei Wochen hier essen. Beide Male hat das gutbürgerlich Süddeutsche Essen hervorragend geschmeckt. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Lokal ist sehr nett. Wir kommen gerne bei nächster Gelegenheit wieder.

There are not so many restaurants which are open at lunch in downtown Passau, but we had luck here: the rooms are large and cosy, with a better weather it is nice to seat outside. In the menu we found typical German dishes together with a few more international options, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices. I can definitely recommend the delicious Käsespätzle and meat in general was really good. All in all, a very positive experience.

Wir waren das erste Mal im Golden Schiff und es wahr ausgezeichnet! Sehr nette Bedienungen, dass essen kann schnell und war unwahrscheinlich lecker! Wir hatten einen Tafelspitz und vegane Zucchini- Karotten Taler. Super fanden wir auch, dass es naturtrübe Säfte gibt, was heutzutage eher selten ist. Besonders ist das Golde Schiff geeignet für alle die unter einer Histaminintoleranz leiden, da in speziellen auf Allergene eingegangen wird!

Man kann das Lokal nur wärmstens Empfehlen. Es wäre ratsam zu reservieren. Das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen schmeckte hervorragend und die Nachspeise war ein Genuss. Kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Wir haben spontan dort zu mittag gegessen. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Kellnerin sehr freundlich. Zentral gelegen. Man sitzt sehr urig gemütlich. Sind ohne Reservierung auch mit Hund freundlich empfangen worden.

Wir sind aus Passau, und waren nur zum Essen dort. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Aber das Essen: So gut wie nicht gewürzt. Aber man kann ja nachwürzen. Die Bratkartoffeln waren mit Kümmel überseht, zudem zu viel Grünzeug drauf. Wir mussten den Kümmel teilweise runterkratzen, weil es in der Menge einfach nicht mehr genießbar war. Schade! Es ist kein Restaurant, einfach nur ein bayerisches, einfaches Wirtshaus. Dafür sind die Preise ganz schön gesalzen. Für uns ist das Wirtshaus, was die Speisen betrifft, raus. Es gibt Besseres in Passau für diesen Preis.

Sehr gutes Mittagessen in einem wunderbaren traditionellen Wirtshaus.

Wir wurden durch die Tafel vor dem Lokal und dem ausgeschrieben Tagesessen aufmerksam und kehrten ein. Nachdem die Getränke serviert waren, teilte man uns mit, dass das Tagesgericht nicht mehr verfügbar sei. Sehr ärgerlich, da wir sonst nicht eingekehrt wären. In einem Essen war ein Haar. Während der kompletten Verweildauer stand eine Tür zum Restaurant offen, es war ungemütlich.Es wurde leider keine Wandlung des Essens vorgeschlagen. Nach Erhalt der Rechnung war auch kein Nachlass sichtbar. Nach Rücksprache erhielten wir zumindest einen kleinen Teil erstattet. Nach Verlassen des Lokals stand das nicht mehr erhältliche Tagesgericht immer noch auf der Tafel.

Wir waren zum Abendessen dort. Das Essen ist authentisch bayerisch! Wer auf Wirtshausflair und Bier steht, wird hier auf seinen Geschmack kommen. Mir hat es sehr gut gefallen und geschmeckt!

Waren dort zum Essen sehr lecker Preis war in Ordnung

Hatte Pech mit Zimmer-Nr.4, Bodendielen mit 2cm Fuge... Im Zimmer neben Bett hinter Bretter ein 2m hocher Tank, der mich schon etwas beunruhigte. Habe ich leider erst am Abend gesehen, als ich keinen mehr fragen konnte, was sich in diesem Tank befindet. Daher etwas unruhig geschlafen und ab halb 6 Uhr in der Früh über mir ununterbrochen laute Schritte... Matratzen schon sehr durchgelegen, Bett knarzt bei Bewegung. Frühstück war reichlich und in Ordnung. Preis/Leistung nicht ok.

Nettes altes Lokal mit traditioneller Küche. Gute Lage und nette Bewirtung. Gute Öffnungszeiten und günstige Preise und viele Speisen und Getränke im Angebot. Absolut empfehlenswert und ein muss in Passauers Innenstadt.

Saßen im Garten zum Abendessen. Schönes Ambiente, sehr freundlicher Service. Essen war gut aber auch nichts ausgefallenes. Dennoch für jeden etwas dabei
