A decent and honest inn with roast variations that are unfortunately becoming increasingly rare. We recommend the crispy fried sour liver with tasty fried potatoes and the crispy roast pork with surbraten with fresh dumplings and a decent, spicy unbound gravy! Both with a small salad of course! Very attentive, friendly and fast service! And at reasonable prices. Highly recommended! Addition: Now our third visit. Full confirmation of the review. Even at lunchtime when the restaurant is full: fast, friendly and attentive staff, tasty fresh dishes, everything is still great and recommended! Addendum after the fourth visit in two years: Fast, friendly, attentive service... and the dishes feel like they've gotten even better!!! Photos speak volumes! Went there for Reindl dinner last night. Food was sufficient and tasted very good. The young waiter was very attentive and accommodating.

Very unfriendly! I called to see if there was still room and was told, "of course come by" (they didn't ask for a name). When we got there we were ignored at the beginning, then we asked for a place and were told there was something free for an hour or to sit with an older couple. We said that we had called & then she said that there were only two options. When we politely declined, she left without saying anything (not even goodbye). I couldn't say anything about the food because I didn't get to try it.

We wanted to have a really nice Bavarian meal and were greeted nicely by the waiter outside. The service was open-minded, friendly and funny. The food was delicious and plentiful! Very quaint, rustic restaurant. We would come here again.

When the dining room was half full on a Sunday, we waited 45 minutes for the order, which was then left next to the door for 10 minutes due to completely uncoordinated service staff. Conclusion: Food was cold, I immediately returned it and will not come here again, let alone recommend it to anyone. In the future, maybe don't let completely incompetent 18-year-olds who have no idea about Bavarian pub culture take over the service.

Were on the way to Croatia and had something to eat there. We were well advised and the food was first class.

Unfortunately, I can only rate the miserable service because we, and especially my severely disabled daughter, were treated so unfriendly and disrespectfully that we left the restaurant immediately!

As a local, you may have some concerns at first, as the place is also heavily frequented by tourists. But we are pleasantly surprised every time. Very nice Bavarian restaurant with local cuisine. I had liver with fried potatoes and my wife had a mushroom schnitzel with homemade spaetzle. We both got a sour salad with it. Very, very tasty and at a fair price.

Straight 5 points!! Very nice historical interior, also very beautiful outside. Very friendly and attentive service, - yes, - and the food is very good, so we ate here on both days of our visit to Passau. We liked the “Surbraten” best. It's not a sauerbraten, but rather a pork roast made from cured meat. The Arcobräu (light non-alcoholic) is fantastic!! Overall, a clear recommendation and a big THANK YOU!

We always eat Viennese-style schnitzel there with potato salad and cranberries. Perfect we always. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. Fast service. We always like to come back when we are nearby.

Great Gathaus, fast and friendly service!!

Unfortunately I can't quite share the good reviews. The staff didn't seem very polite, they served you. The roast pork had no crust, just a large edge of fat and unfortunately the meat wasn't very tender either. The beer sauce was very tasty. The sauerkraut had a lot of caraway in it and therefore only had caraway in its taste (certainly a matter of taste, but too much for me). We've had better breweries. The food was reasonably priced

... nothing to complain about... We'll be happy to visit again... Parking is not easy to find

Schnitzel was not pork but veal and was delicious! Beer was Arcobrau draft which was established in 1567. My wife had potato soup and everything was super. However, if you are allergic to bee stings there are quite a few outside (but we found that everywhere in Europe on our trip.

The food was excellent and the price was also completely reasonable. Unfortunately, the service lady was our absolute minus of the visit. When the plate came out while being cleared and hit the guest, there was no word of apology or anything like that. The colleague, on the other hand, was attentive and friendly.

A Bavarian restaurant with matching dishes and beer. The staff is friendly and you are served quickly. Unfortunately, the beer garden is in front of the entrance, which means that the moderate noise from cars is a bit annoying. The food is good and unexpectedly inexpensive for Passau. But we enjoyed sitting here and enjoying our evening in the warm weather. We will definitely come here again.

Wir haben zum Mittag draußen gegessen. Die Brotzeitplatte war lecker und für 2 Personen ausreichen. Das Personal war freundlich, zwischenzeitlich dauerte aber etwas länger bis mal wieder jemand raus kam.

Sehr gute bayrische Küche, sehr schönes Ambiente!! Meine Empfehlung!! Ich kann den Surbraten und die Knödel sehr sehr empfehlen. Lecker!!

Das geht deutlich besser. Es scheint man lebt von der guten alten Zeit und von diversen Empfehlungen von Tourstikhnternehmen. Essen war ok, könnte aber liebevoller angerichtet werden. Gastgarten ist direkt an der Straße, also nicht sehr einladend.

If you got to Passau, please don't skip coming here and have some local food specials. Eating here is a must. We ate here twice (we stayed for two nights in Passau) and whatever we chose from the menu was amazing. Tasty, for the eye and mouth. We were lucky it did not rain so we were sitting outside. This is a must visit place for food.

A restaurant with beer from Arcorbräu, a limited selection of dishes, but very good food with quite large portions. The only thing that was annoying were the many wasps in the restaurant garden, despite the waiter's efforts to lure them away with cranberries.

We recently had the opportunity to visit the Altes Bräuhaus in Passau. My overall impression was good, although not outstanding. The atmosphere in the inn is very pleasant, the outside area and the location in the old town also offer a beautiful view of the people passing by and the traffic - perfect for anyone who likes to watch the hustle and bustle. The food we ordered was excellent. I would particularly like to highlight the Upper Palatinate roast pork with bread dumplings and mushroom sauce. The dish was excellently prepared and the sauce gave it that certain something. The service was also a highlight of my visit. The waiter who served us was not only extremely courteous, but also very humorous and took the time to make a few friendly jokes. Such personal and relaxed service contributes significantly to the positive atmosphere. All in all, it was a lovely evening at the Altes Bräuhaus. It is a recommended place, especially if you want to enjoy good Bavarian cuisine in a cozy environment. We will certainly come back.

A typical brewery with rustic charm that never goes out of style, the portions are large. The staff is friendly and attentive, but they don't serve the drinks to the guest with the emblem. The quality of the food is good and it is beautifully presented. August 2024

The waiter was really kind, food came quick, and it was also very tasty. Their weizen is also worth trying.

Wollten zu dritt hier zu Abend essen. Draussen war es recht besetzt, drinnen etliche Tische reserviert angeschrieben. Bekamen dann den Tisch direkt am Ausgang, ein Stuhl war mit Sitzkissen für draussen belegt. Auf anderen Tisch neben Tür türmten sich Gläser, einige gebrauchte Aschenbecher, Besteckgläser, etc. Wirkte schlecht organisiert. Stimmung war hektisch, die drei Servierkräfte am rennen. Dauerte schon bis wir eine Karte kriegten, Getränke kamen zwar zügig, aber Essen kam erst nach 50 Minuten. Das schmeckte gut und war grosszügig bemessen. Ein Kellner entschuldigte sich auch am Schluss und bot Kaffee oder Schnaps an. Aber wir waren dann lange genug gesessen, der Lärmpegel war recht hoch, gleich nebenan referierte noch ein Tisch Jungpolitiker. Fazit: gut gegessen, aber Hektik mit langem Warten.

Once and never again. Food was generally okay but nothing special. The service was incredibly bad. You can tell that they are not trained people. One of the waitresses was clearly drunk, the way the person articulated himself and shouted at us. We waited ages for both the drink and the food. The service also really smelled!

Very quaint building, we weren't outside but rather close to the bar... which was good because I really liked the beer 😜 Then we ordered something to eat. Since I didn't know my dish “Tiroler Gröstl”, I ordered that. It was very tasty… I can only recommend it here!

The Altes Bräuhaus restaurant serves delicious cuisine. In summer, the Altes Bräuhaus restaurant is also open during the day. The restaurant offers a unique view of the city and the beautiful bridge. For us, the Altes Bräuhaus is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Passau, and we enjoyed every moment to the fullest. Particularly worth mentioning is the culinary lunch, which cannot be described in words. The exquisite cuisine and the atmospheric ambience gave us unforgettable moments of enjoyment. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Many thanks to the very nice waiter Ben, who served me fantastically. I recommend the restaurant. Trust me, you won't regret it.

On a trip we also visited Passau and followed a recommendation for a restaurant, it seemed to be popular, we had reserved, the outdoor seating was pleasant and the service was friendly. The food was okay, only the liver dumpling soup for 8.50 I think the euro is completely excessive. I probably won't come again. The previously purchased voucher for current travel has not proven useful.

The food was good and hearty, especially the roast was tender and tasty. The price is tolerable for a tourist resort, but unfortunately not particularly cheap either. The service was very quick and nice. There is a lot of traffic at the bridge and a lot of guests smoking, so sitting outside wasn't much fun.

Food is regularly very good, sometimes 'just' good, friendly, draft beer is always fresh. Tip: Tyrolean Gröstl.
