Rustic inn, just as you would expect a brewery with good beer, tasty food, large portions and nice staff!

A restaurant with beer from Arcorbräu, a limited selection of dishes, but very good food with quite large portions. The only thing that was annoying were the many wasps in the restaurant garden, despite the waiter's efforts to lure them away with cranberries.

Beautiful, traditional Bavarian inn. You can't go wrong with pork knuckle and roast!

We recently had the opportunity to visit the Altes Bräuhaus in Passau. My overall impression was good, although not outstanding. The atmosphere in the inn is very pleasant, the outside area and the location in the old town also offer a beautiful view of the people passing by and the traffic - perfect for anyone who likes to watch the hustle and bustle. The food we ordered was excellent. I would particularly like to highlight the Upper Palatinate roast pork with bread dumplings and mushroom sauce. The dish was excellently prepared and the sauce gave it that certain something. The service was also a highlight of my visit. The waiter who served us was not only extremely courteous, but also very humorous and took the time to make a few friendly jokes. Such personal and relaxed service contributes significantly to the positive atmosphere. All in all, it was a lovely evening at the Altes Bräuhaus. It is a recommended place, especially if you want to enjoy good Bavarian cuisine in a cozy environment. We will certainly come back.

A typical brewery with rustic charm that never goes out of style, the portions are large. The staff is friendly and attentive, but they don't serve the drinks to the guest with the emblem. The quality of the food is good and it is beautifully presented. August 2024

Once and never again. Food was generally okay but nothing special. The service was incredibly bad. You can tell that they are not trained people. One of the waitresses was clearly drunk, the way the person articulated himself and shouted at us. We waited ages for both the drink and the food. The service also really smelled!

Very quaint building, we weren't outside but rather close to the bar... which was good because I really liked the beer 😜 Then we ordered something to eat. Since I didn't know my dish “Tiroler Gröstl”, I ordered that. It was very tasty… I can only recommend it here!

On a trip we also visited Passau and followed a recommendation for a restaurant, it seemed to be popular, we had reserved, the outdoor seating was pleasant and the service was friendly. The food was okay, only the liver dumpling soup for 8.50 I think the euro is completely excessive. I probably won't come again. The previously purchased voucher for current travel has not proven useful.

The Altes Bräuhaus restaurant serves delicious cuisine. In summer, the Altes Bräuhaus restaurant is also open during the day. The restaurant offers a unique view of the city and the beautiful bridge. For us, the Altes Bräuhaus is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Passau, and we enjoyed every moment to the fullest. Particularly worth mentioning is the culinary lunch, which cannot be described in words. The exquisite cuisine and the atmospheric ambience gave us unforgettable moments of enjoyment. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Many thanks to the very nice waiter Ben, who served me fantastically. I recommend the restaurant. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Authentic food with full of locals.

The food was good and hearty, especially the roast was tender and tasty. The price is tolerable for a tourist resort, but unfortunately not particularly cheap either. The service was very quick and nice. There is a lot of traffic at the bridge and a lot of guests smoking, so sitting outside wasn't much fun.

Food is regularly very good, sometimes 'just' good, friendly, draft beer is always fresh. Tip: Tyrolean Gröstl.

A group of six ladies had dinner here in beautiful weather. Service was good if a bit chaotic. Maybe it was particularly crowded in the garden this Saturday 🤷 Schnitzel was great but so much that the rest was packed up again. A good Bavarian restaurant, but it's better not to order something that needs individual decoration. I ordered a baked Camembert, which is perhaps not exactly a Bavarian dish. But then you just shouldn't offer it. I would like to describe the performance as loveless. See matching photo... A Camembert on warm 🤣 toast plus a quarter of a tomato, a slice of green cucumber on a spread lettuce leaf... delicacy 🤣🤣🤣

Non-alcoholic whey beer is not drinkable here. Never had such a bad aftertaste. Staff response: well, that's how it tastes here. Don't bother tasting it yourself. Very unfriendly service. Lunch was fine. Conclusion: ignore it.

The waitresses (the "boys") were very attentive and quick with the drinks. Unfortunately, it took forever for our food to arrive. Over an hour wait on Sunday at 1 p.m. Everyone around us has been waiting for their food for so long. Far too long for a brewery. When it comes to roasts and the like, everything is usually ready and just needs to be put on the plate. We don't know the situation in the kitchen, but it's a no-go for us. Food was quite ok for the price. Otherwise, everything inside seems quite run down.

The old brewery in Passau is not really worth it for vegetarians. However, it is ideal for meat lovers. There are very authentic Bavarian meals and the ambience is also very authentic. However, the vegetarian dishes that are offered are very, very tasty. I can therefore highly recommend the brewery. A good recommendation would be if you could offer a little more vegetarian dishes. Super delicious food, keep it up!

Bavarian beer hall with a view of Passau Fortress and the Danube. Exquisite staff and typical dishes with adequate prices. Obviously it is a tourist place but the atmosphere is relaxed, the selection of beers is almost endless and goes well with cutlets, roast pork and chips

We stopped in for a late lunch after much walking around. It was warm enough to sit on the patio. We had dark lager and relatively light meals (compared to what I saw on other plates). My husband enjoyed the white sausage with a pretzel and sweet mustard. I had the bratwurst with sauerkraut, brown bread, and regular mustard. Both the bratwurst and sauerkraut were much better that what I've had in the USA. They were more flavorful, and the sauerkraut was not as acidic. This place has large indoor seating areas, and they do have menus in English.

My husband and I were in Passau over Pentecost 2024 and chose this location for dinner. We made a reservation for 6:30 p.m., but were there half an hour earlier because we misjudged the timing a bit. Our table was free and it wasn't a problem at all. The service was very friendly. I chose the cheese spaetzle with mixed salad and my husband chose the roast suckling pig with dumpling and cabbage bacon salad. Both excellent and very plentiful. Home cooking. Price/performance ratio absolutely fair. I would like to have a place like this at home...

Quaint, Bavarian brewery with the corresponding menu. When the weather is good, the seats outside are filled quickly. But it's also very comfortable inside. The menu is what you would expect from a Bavarian brewery. The menu is very meat-heavy. Cheese spaetzle is a vegetarian dish. I had the classic roast pork with cabbage and dumplings. The portions are reasonable and filling. And at a reasonable price. The service was quick, friendly and attentive.

After waiting 1 1/2 hours for our food, we were surprised with cold and dry meat. We also ordered beer, which was of course warm. The waitress reacts to our question about where the food is and puts the blame on us: we were late too (7:20 p.m., a great meal time in my opinion)

I was there yesterday with my son, after walking a lot getting to know Passau we wanted to sit in a pleasant atmosphere and eat something delicious. The food wasn't bad at all, but for the price it wasn't worth it. The waitress was the worst we had, not at all friendly and for changing my Schnitzel from the Kartoffelsalat to normal potatoes, she charged me an increase. We wouldn't go back.

We love the food here . the roasted pork is superb. goulash is good but better eat with pickles veggies. the fried camembear is a surprised as it taste so good thanit appears. recommended.

Had dinner there with a large group. The decor is very quaint and cozy. The menu offers a large selection of Bavarian dishes. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous. Unfortunately, the service that day was very slow, very demotivated and annoyed by everything, hardly came to the tables to ask questions (e.g. when the drinks were empty) and always had to be spoken to by us. Would have liked to have left more tips that evening, but not like that.

A traditional inn with good, home-style Bavarian cuisine that leaves nothing to be desired. Some of the dishes are highly praised, but I think there is enough room for improvement. Tradition alone is not enough to serve good food. However, the prices are moderate and the bottom line is that you go on your way satisfied.

Terrible service! Food without taste. After waiting for 1 hour we asked. The service just kept going and ignored us. It took a total of 1.5 hours until we could eat. No more!

First the wine was forgotten, then delivered after a complaint. The Grüner Veltliner was then angry. Finally a drinkable wine arrived. But no excuse. Unfortunately the roast pork came with packerl sauce. It's a shame, the ambience doesn't help either.

We ate here today with 8 people, including two small children. Every dish was extremely tasty. The service was super nice and attentive. Our dog was also allowed into the restaurant. At the end, the little ones received free ice cream and a lollipop.
