This was my first time trying German pork knuckle. The skin was roasted until crispy, and the pork inside was juicy and flavorful—better than I expected! The accompanying sauerkraut tasted exactly like Northeastern Chinese sauerkraut, which was a very interesting discovery.

Great food in a great atmosphere at the oldest Bavarian restaurant in Berlin...

For St. Martin's Day, we enjoyed a delicious roast goose breast with red and green cabbage and potato dumplings. It was incredibly tender and tasty. The service was friendly and the atmosphere rustic. A lovely little trip to Bavaria. We'd love to come back.

We went for goose dinner today. The leg cost €36.90. The portion was very small. Even after ordering dumplings (€3), we weren't satisfied. The food tasted good, but unfortunately, it wasn't piping hot. It was better last year. The prices aren't right this year. What a shame 😭

We ate there as a group on Saturday. The restaurant itself is really lovely, very rustic. The staff was also very friendly. Unfortunately, I wasn't satisfied with the food afterward. We ordered schnitzel with potato salad, and it tasted good, but when we got home, I threw it all up, which I found very disappointing. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I wasn't the only one who felt bad. There were two other people who also ordered schnitzel, and they had the same experience. Please pay attention to your dishes! €30 per person for schnitzel with potato salad seemed a bit steep for what we received. Everything looked delicious, but there was something wrong with the schnitzel; I can't put my finger on it any other way.

We ate there today. You sometimes have to pre-order so that nothing gets wasted in the kitchen – which I think is perfectly fine in principle. However, in hindsight, I should have looked at the menu more closely beforehand. I spontaneously ordered a goose leg, assuming it would cost around €25. But the menu showed almost €40. I briefly considered ordering something else, but I really had a craving for it that day. When the food arrived, it tasted okay, but nothing special. A lot of it was certainly homemade, but it was somehow lacking that certain something. My husband had a Wiener Schnitzel for around €30, and even though we both finished our plates, we were still hungry afterward. All in all – my husband had two beers, I had a large bottle of water (0.5 l) – and we ended up spending almost €100. To be honest, we expected a bit more for that price. A bit disappointing.

The food and drinks were very good and the prices were perfectly reasonable. Our long (reserved) seats were right next to the entrance. It was chilly outside anyway, and then there were the constant crowds of smokers who were sitting in the "warm" seats... I thought it was silly.

If it were possible, I wouldn't give it any stars at all. I reserved a table a week in advance. We drove about 30 km to enjoy the evening and the meal. We didn't get the table I reserved. Completely disappointed by the unreliability of the staff, we left the restaurant frustrated.

We were there for the first time yesterday, and we'd love to come back. Delicious, hearty, friendly, simply lovely. Our mom wanted to go back because it was her regular haunt 35 years ago (or more). She was very happy and shared many memories. It was lovely. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio here no longer matches; this has been declining rapidly for several years. When I can barely find the potato salad under two wafer-thin veal schnitzels, and it's been thrown onto the plate without any "garnish," then I see what's wrong. I only go there when forced by "family circumstances." Personally, I know better restaurants in the area.

A very good Bavarian restaurant with delicious, authentic Bavarian food and a good beer selection. A lovely outdoor seating area with large trees provides shade in the summer. The service is friendly and can help you choose your food and drinks if you wish. Parking is limited directly on the street, so you may have to walk for 2 to 5 minutes.

We were there with a large group. The service was good, but unfortunately one of us was forgotten. But otherwise, it was a very nice evening. My knuckle of pork was incredibly delicious, so I'll be back.

Lauwarme Röstkartoffeln, die nicht frisch zubereitet waren, mit 3 halben Scheiben Sülze; Pommes, die noch total weich und roh waren zum kleinen Schnitzel; Miniportionen, dafür zu teuer. Kleines Schnitzel ohne Würze. Leider ein Schatten seiner selbst gegenüber früher, das Weiße Rössl, wo wir immer mal, und immer seltener, hingehen. Schade!!! 4,50€ extra für Pommes frites statt Kartoffelsalat beim kleinen Schnitzel. 19,50 € für diese Miniportion ist eine Frechheit. Bierpreise 4,90 € für 0,5 Paulaner für ein eigentlich erwas gehobeneres Lokal normal. Als wir alles bei einem Mitarbeiter ansprachen meinte er nur lapidar, "der Laden läuft doch." Der Garten war ziemlich leer, im Haus waren Tische besetzt. Naja. Das war es nun endgültig für uns.

A rustic Bavarian/Austrian ambiance. Beautifully done, and the beer is correspondingly good. The service is excellent and fast. The quality of the food has unfortunately declined quite a bit recently. The portions have become significantly smaller. The prices on the special menu (during chanterelle season) are even more inflated! For example, a portion of chanterelle mushrooms with pork medallions and fried potatoes costs just under €27. Three approximately 1 cm thin slices of meat with fried potatoes that resemble deep-fried potatoes (and are quite dark) and mushrooms. The food was tasty, except for the fried potatoes, but simply too expensive for the portion size and quality...

I can't recommend this place. We had cheese spaetzle and a vegetable casserole. They weren't freshly prepared, the vegetables came from the freezer, and the cheese spaetzle was more like a cheese batter. The price-performance ratio wasn't right.

Hearty food, typically Bavarian. The dumplings were delicious, as were the knuckles, and the service was friendly. The interior is rustic but stylish. You can go here even if you're not a Bayern fan (though certainly if you are). It was a bit substantial for lunch, but you can also have it packed. That way, you'll have some left over the next day. I'll definitely eat there again when I feel like indulging in a little "sin."

We stopped in spontaneously as we were driving by. If you're in the mood for German or Austrian cuisine, you'll find a good selection here. The servers were attentive and professional. We sat outside, which was quite pleasant, even though you're sitting on a fairly busy street.

We like to come here with visitors from time to time and find the food excellent. Especially recommended during Oktoberfest, although it can sometimes get quite busy.

Yes, if you like Bavarian cuisine, definitely. We had the knuckle of pork and the Munich schnitzel. The knuckle was very tender and the crust was perfect. The side dishes were also good. The schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad was also good. The portions were very generous. The service was very polite and attentive.

Very good food and very friendly staff. We asked about allergens, but unfortunately, the waitress had no idea. But she asked, and the allergen menu was very detailed.

The food was good, but nothing exceptional. Serving Kaiserschmarrn with apple sauce was a bit odd. The ambiance is also very dated. All in all, nothing special.

We've been going to Rös'l on and off for 20 years, but unfortunately, it feels like it's gotten worse and worse since the coronavirus pandemic. It's a real shame, because all the good things are actually there. The snack plate, which is actually the Bavarian staple, is really poorly stocked for the price, but the bread was excellent. We want the old place back, the way it used to be before profit maximization.

A lovely, rustic spot. The trip was definitely worth it. We had some white sausages and a yeast dumpling. We had a perfect table where we could easily see what dishes were coming out of the kitchen. Everything looks so promising that I'll definitely be back soon.

We were there again and were unfortunately very disappointed. The food was poor, the knuckle wasn't completely cooked through and was still a bit bloody in some places. The service was very brisk and not friendly, sometimes even ignorant. Payment was requested early without request. Which surprised us very negatively. Too bad....!!

I've been looking for a good Bavarian restaurant for a long time. Anyone who has ever been to the Hofbräuhaus in Berlin knows that the food there is not necessarily the best. However, my expectations were exceeded at the Weißer Rössl. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to my family. However, a reservation is advisable.

We were there for dinner with 6 people and I am disappointed. The roast pork was only lukewarm, tasteless and the meat looked gray, as if it had been in the freezer for a year or more. My friend's knuckle was tasty, which is what you would expect at this price. Unfortunately it was served without mustard. The Wienerschnitzel was run over with a road roller before being breaded, but the breading was tasty. The dark beer from the tap was a little too warm but still tasted good. People also asked if everything was satisfactory, but of course no one complains when the birthday child sits at the table. Well, it was much better there!

A Bavarian tavern that serves every cliché, dark wooden paneling, wooden benches, chairs and tables, deer and deer antlers on the walls, Bavarian tavern music, the waitress in short lederhosen. Of course there is also Bavarian food, game, dumplings, roast knuckle 🍖, liver dumpling soup etc. The cabbage roulade was the size of country bread, but the taste was not a revelation. For €15.90 something for frugal lumberjacks with a huge appetite. Service was quick and attentive.

Always great so far. So is food. But just because the shop is empty from 8:15 p.m., the tables are folded up, everyone is cleaning around you and asking you out at 9:00 p.m., even though the opening time is 10:00 p.m., I find it very difficult. We've been meeting there for years and we also have directions. I don't think it's OK. Maybe it's better to think about why no one is there, but the customer who is there can't help it.

Rustic traditional restaurant with fantastic food. Have been there several times. Ox cheeks and roast wild boar, roast pork, venison stew... simply delicious. Prices humanely. Service nice. Toilets clean. And a great beer garden 😉 is worth it!!

I really liked it at the Weißen Rössl!🙏 The service was great, my special request was also fulfilled.🤩 The food, bratwursts with fried potatoes and sauerkraut, was very tasty. Since it was below zero outside, it was apparently difficult to heat the dining room enough. However, the radiators were hot. Therefore, I recommend the onion look for people who get cold easily. 😉 The ambience is rustic, like a cozy Alpine hut and there is appropriate hearty music playing in the background. Super! 🎶 I will definitely come back in the summer as there is also a large beer garden. 🍺

The Weisse Rössel is a quaint, very cozy restaurant with friendly, quick service. The portions are more than generous and taste very good. The prices can be described as rather cheap considering the portion sizes. I can only say that all of us (5 people) were more than satisfied. We're looking forward to the small beer garden in the summer.

We had a very nice evening. There are only small drawbacks for the pork knuckle, which could have stayed in the pot a little longer and the unfortunately somewhat wobbly chairs. Nevertheless, we would like to come back.

As a Bavarian in a Bavarian restaurant in Berlin, I was pleasantly surprised. Good Bavarian food and an ambience like this are very rare, even in Bavaria. Super friendly service. The only thing missing is the Bavarian dialect ;)

Everything was right, I can recommend the Weißes Rossel

Zünftig bayerisches Lokal mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Die Preispolitik kann ich aber nicht ganz verstehen. Das leckere "Münchner Schnitzel" kostet z.Zt. 17,90€ und besteht aus 2 Schnitzeln mit Kartoffel-Gurkensalat plus Beilagensalat. Die s.g. "kleine Portion" davon besteht nur aus einem Schnitzel, kostet dann aber sage und schriebe 15,90€. Also gerade mal 2,-€ weniger. Ist das verhältnismäßig? Und wenn ich anstatt des Kartoffel-Gurkensalates lieber Bratkartoffel haben möchte, dann muss ich nochmal 1,-€ drauflegen, angeblich weil das bisschen Speck darin so teuer ist. Also beim nächsten mal dann doch lieber ein Doggybag machen lassen, wenn man die Portion nicht schafft.

Hello, I was there with my girlfriend on December 21st, 2024. It really looks very rustic and Bavarian, even sometimes kitsch. We had the Champion Schnitzel and the roast pork. At the pork roast I was asked which cabbage I wanted, this or this or both. I decided to do both. Bavarian Kraut was forgotten when the food was served, ok that can happen. The food was tasty and sufficient. For dessert we ordered ice cream with hot raspberries and a Kaiserschmarrn. Ice cream was ok. Unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn is not. Very caramelized with lots of almonds and very dark, applesauce probably made from Tetrapak. I love Kaiserschmarrn, but you couldn't eat this. The server brought it back to the kitchen and then told us that this is how it is always done. That should be the case in Austria and Bavaria. I replied that I had eaten it many times in Austria and Bavaria and that it wasn't served that way there. But it was smiled away in a friendly manner. But then I didn't feel like discussing it, after all I was here with a friend to spend a nice evening. Result: It's a shame, but we won't be coming back anytime soon. PS exchanging side dishes like we do from spaetzle to fries costs an extra 1.00 euros. Personally, I think the exchange should be free, it's not exactly a cheap restaurant. For me it's not about the one euro, but about the principle.

Extremely bad experience. We got a table, with no time restrictions. Nevertheless, shortly after we started eating, we were told to leave quickly because of a reservation. We said we needed some time. The man didn't apologize, even said that we shouldn't come back. Incredible.

I was recently traveling in Berlin. May aunt and uncle took me out for lunch at one of their favorite restaurants. This was without a doubt a highlight of my trip. The menu offers Bavarian dishes. I ordered the pork knuckle dinner and my uncle order a Wiener schnitzel. Both meals were absolutely outstanding! A tremendous selection of high quality beers made for a perfect meal and a very special desert that is not readily available in most German restaurants. The atmosphere is off the charts cool, authentic and a throwback to a different town. They have a good size patio as well. I would highly encourage you to find this place and order some of their specialties. Quality, home cooked meal at a reasonable price and incredible portions. It boasts to be one of Berlin’s first German pubs. In highly recommend this place.

top beer garden and delicious hearty food

Eat tops! Unfortunately service wasn't that great. Maybe it was because the store was extremely full. Our empty plates were still in front of us after almost an hour and unfortunately no one cared about our empty drinks. One can only hope for improvement here!
