ERDINGER am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin

Stopped in for a beer and a bite. The Helles lager was delicious and the Goulash was very good. Excellent service.

The food is good and the place is impressive, as is the location near the Concertgebouw Square...but charging seven euros for two empty plates to share seems very unfair to me. It left a bitter taste in the mouth of the entire meal...

Food was good which needs to be credited. However, the service was extremely poor which was a big let down. If you are looking traditional german experience, I would recommend doing it somewhere else than here, unfortunstely.

Understaffed , i feel bad for the waiters. It takes 30min just to order drinks and we still don't have them. People are running towards the waiters tonger their orders in. 2 people for the whole outside area is outrageous.

Great place! We visited once in the evening (sitting indoors, enjoying the vegetarian Flammkuche) and once at lunchtime (sitting outside in the square, eating from the very reasonably priced lunchtime menu - excellent soup). Both times, service was quick and good. Wide choice of food and beer. Pleasant to sit either inside in the fabulous building or outside in the beautiful square!

A wonderful Bavarian restaurant in the heart of Berlin! A warm atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious specialties. The freshly tapped Erdinger beer is a particular highlight – ideal for a relaxing evening at Gendarmenmarkt.

Really great. I'd have to go back on my own to take cool pictures and videos without someone inviting me and rushing me...on a day when the waiter wasn't so stressed...I would have preferred clean plates and the food to be presented in a more social media-friendly way...but it was also busy. The food wasn't like grandma's but it was really great, the restrooms were extremely clean...the bowl is square, not very comfortable...the design, otherwise, everything was perfect, a great place! Excited to go to Erdinger bar. Took over 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and brought a menu. Then, when we did order a drink, about 15 minutes passed before I had to go ask what was going on. A waiter pointed out they were on bar ready to bring out. I offered to take them but he told me he'd bring them out. He didnt He came out 3 more seperate times and when I asked again he shouted at me, so we left. Real shame, food and drink looked great but waiters (yes all of them) were very rude, wasn't even that busy (empty inside).

We have been in Europe for 2.5 weeks, and I’ve been to Europe/Germany at least a dozen times in the past 20 years. Stopped in for drinks and a snack. The server we had here was the worst I’ve ever had. Kept asking us if we spoke German…really??? Rolled his eyes at whatever said. Move on, don’t go here there are way better places to eat in Berlin!

Very unfriendly staff and prices that are absurdly high.

Didn't eat here but an excellent spot for a beer until unwanted according players disturb the peace.

We had the most incessantly rude waiter, ever. He was the rudest waiter I’ve EVER seen. We ordered the crispy pork, and when it came it looked like a meatloaf slice swimming in sauce. When we asked what it was, he gave the German name of the dish, which we had no idea what it meant. When we wanted to confirm again that the dish was the crispy pork, he said “It is crispy on the outside, and we give you two slices. Show me how you get crispy pork on the inside!” When we asked to extra plates he replied “We’re all out of plates!” When he served the food he literally SLAMMED the plates down on the table. He didn’t have a name tag but I would recognize him the next time. But I would NEVER come back.

Great view and location! The schnitzel was delicious, but the service could be improved.

Ordered the vegan pasta and found a lump of meat in it. The staff didn’t seem to understand why I was so upset and didn’t seem to care much either. Even if you aren’t vegan, it makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is and how careful the staff are about crossing over food groups.

Nothing at all. I've been there twice, well, that's it.

The place has a good location, but the service was quite average. Lunch took more than an hour, even though the restaurant was less than 10% full. Waiting 30 minutes for a main course with so few guests is far too long. On top of that, the food itself was just average in taste.

At Erdinger am Gendarmenmarkt, you immediately feel at home. The service is super friendly, attentive, and caters to all your needs. The food is fresh and delicious – from crisp salads to desserts. The freshly tapped Erdinger beer, in particular, perfectly rounds off any visit. A cozy restaurant in a great location, one that we'd happily recommend.

Certain dishes aren't necessarily made to order, they seem to be pre-cooked. The staff are friendly and efficient though.

Awesome, this is definitely one of my favorites from my whole trip to Germany. I had the four sausage plate, Helles beer, and the bread and butter sides. If you sit outside you have a view of the Konzerthaus Berlin and the square out front. I was a bit wary of the crowds I’d seen elsewhere, so I came in mid-afternoon for a more relaxed atmosphere.

A bottle of water for 8 euros. A rip-off. We were liking the place until we saw the bill. A rip-off.

Four of us stopped here this afternoon during a city tour. The menu is very varied, with something for every price range (a small surcharge for the location, we'd say). It was delicious and the portions generous. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. However, we don't know what it's like during peak hours, as we were there in the afternoon. There are plenty of tables inside and outside.

We ate celery soup, chicken, vegetables, and dessert, which was very tasty and affordable.

The service was fast and friendly, the ambiance rustic, and the food good. I'm not much of a fan of German food, but Käsespätzle is always a hit, and the ones at Erdinger were delicious and simple. The salad was also tasty. There was a small mistake in the bill, but it was quickly corrected.

The quality is good, as is the service. The restaurant is also very nice and enjoys a truly privileged location, with a view that lends it a lovely atmosphere. The menu is obviously almost entirely Bavarian; it's an Erdinger restaurant, so it's ideal for those who aren't looking for something traditional.

The two fellows working out on the platz across the street were great! The beer was great! The pretzel and white sausages were just like my grandmother used to serve me as a kid .... professional service!

The food is good, but not enough to make me want to return. Especially since the prices should suggest a Bavarian explosion of flavor. It’s not bad, but it feels like a factory, not culinary art. The beer is very good.

The food is delicious but the waiter kind of pushed us for tips and that was not pleasant. The terrace area is nice and comfy so still very much recommended.

Much better than the Augustiner (in the same square). A more welcoming place, much better service, and more attentive waiters. Average food. Good variety of beers.

Can not recommend this place. Service was miserable and unfriendly. The waiter also tried to scam us into giving a tip by blocking the "no tip" option on the machine with his thumb. Can not recommend. It's a tourist trap.

We ordered soup, salad, curry wurst, and beer. The curry wurst tasted like cardboard with curry added—I don't know what it's supposed to taste like, but it's not even worth €2. The beer was OK. The soup and salad were supposedly delicious. However, the persistent waiter trying to force another person to buy a drink with their soup and salad was a disgrace. He did this several times, insistently trying to force us to buy at least water, and we had to flat-out refuse to get him to leave. The beer was also served in a beer-soaked mug, so I had to wipe it down myself with napkins. I've never had such a bad time at a dinner for that price.

The food was typically Bavarian and the beer was delicious. The atmosphere is absolutely recommendable!

Good food, welcoming staff, great atmosphere

We're giving one star for the tablecloths. Unfortunately, they're not authentic at all. We live in Upper Bavaria ourselves. Cappuccino isn't possible because anything with milk isn't working right now. Service is super, super bad. Only the ambiance with the view of the scenery somewhat compensates.

Yesterday, starting around 7:00 p.m., we spent about two hours in the outdoor café right next to the French Cathedral, quietly drinking wine. Unfortunately, the waiter was so unfriendly that it almost seemed aggressive. Every time he changed the ashtrays, he grumbled demonstratively and openly expressed his dissatisfaction. This behavior could only be interpreted as an indirect demand for a tip. At the end, after paying, we thanked them anyway. However, all I got in response was a dismissive "I don't need a thank you," with an undertone as if he wanted to tell me that he didn't expect a thank you, but more money. That was simply disrespectful and very disappointing. Management should urgently speak to the waiters and make it clear that guests should not be viewed as a permanent source of income, but as human beings who also expect friendly and respectful treatment. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing visit for us. We don't want to experience something like that again.

Berlin is full of tourist German-like restaurant traps, but we were delighted to find such a cozy, delicious and affordable restaurant.

Excellent service! Excellent authentic Bavarian food! They serve their own beer with multiple options - we enjoyed both the weissbier and lager.

The place is very nice. Overall, it's okay, although the food quality can't be compared to that of a beer garden in Bavaria. But then, that's what you eat in Berlin.

Amazing dishes, never been disappointed here. The waiters are very nice, and you can order easily without speaking any German, they can talk in English. German food taste so good here.

Unfortunately we didn’t find this place until our last day in Berlin. Lovely peaceful setting with great views and attentive but not overbearing staff. We had the meatballs and the currywurst. Both meals were good portion sizes and tasted great. We also had soft drinks, beer and wine.

The food was delicious. I recommend the typical Berlin sausage with potatoes and the mixed salad. Reasonable prices (approximately €15 per plate). Be careful when ordering glasses of water; they charge €3.20 per glass.

The pork knuckle and mixed salads were good, the strudel excellent, the atmosphere quiet, and the prices average. The staff who served us at our table were courteous and quick. P.S. Upon entry, even though several waiters saw us and passed us, they seemed uninterested in serving us. But after a few minutes, they seated us. The initial welcome needs to be reconsidered.

We didn't eat anything here, but we did enjoy sitting outside and having a drink. Friendly service and a beautiful location.

The penne with chanterelle mushrooms was bland and boring. My girlfriend had three small slices of fried bread dumplings with a pot of sauce. It wasn't particularly tasty. But it's a brewery, after all. What's absolutely unacceptable, though, is ordering a "half" beer in a brewery and then getting what feels like 0.45? Unfortunately, it's bitter.

The waiter seemed friendly at first glance. We ordered our food, and it was ready in no time. My daughter ordered spätzel. It was so tasteless that she didn't eat it. My friend and I had half a chicken and a schnitzel. The chicken was as dry as a nut, and my schnitzel and potatoes came out of the fryer. When the waiter asked my daughter if she liked it or not, she replied that she didn't. He then offered her an ice cream from the menu. In the end, we still had to pay for it, and he talked his way around it. In the end, we left it at that and left. Because when I told him I didn't agree, he suddenly couldn't understand me anymore. I give the atmosphere 3 stars because the surrounding area is nice. But we'll never go there again.

The Erdinger at Gendarmenmarkt is always worth a visit. Now, after years, you can sit outside again. Erdinger isn't to blame. The city is making life difficult for restaurants. Always recommended. Best wishes ❤️

The situation that befell us today is simply beyond comment and unacceptable, and concerns the behavior of the waiter from Pakistan, India, or another Bangladeshi. Of course, this isn't about origin or skin color, because that plays the least role. We don't know this "gentleman's" name. After receiving a rather large bill, the waiter immediately held up the terminal, clearly indicating that he should give him a tip... and that's where it all started. We regularly go to restaurants throughout Europe, and I think a waiter should earn that tip. If they think they get a tip for taking your order and saying "Hello," then maybe they should change jobs. And then to loudly comment in front of other guests and waiters that they didn't receive a tip – absolutely pathetic. The lady who brought us our food was completely different – she somehow managed to joke with our children or simply make contact, and we would have gladly left her a tip, because that's our custom :) And this waiter of dubious quality should either be replaced or at least have a conversation with him.

I'm embarrassed by the service at this restaurant. It's incredibly discouraging and lacking in customer service. The height of rudeness was when a black waiter started commenting to his colleague that he didn't get a tip. What was he supposed to get one for? I don't tip for serving my order – and I pay the bill. If the staff isn't interested in me, I just pay the bill. A tip is for something more. It's a disgrace. The food is so-so. I absolutely don't recommend the pork knuckles; they were dry.

Authentic Bavarian hospitality. A comforting experience.

The beer and currywurst were really delicious, but when I went to pay, they didn't show me my receipt, instead just showing me the payment screen. I was suspicious, so I asked for a receipt, and they added four beers I didn't order. Please make sure to check your order before paying. We were a group of six, without a reservation, and they didn't give us good seats. We were tired and in the shade, so we just sat and ate. The beer was really good, and the currywurst was delicious. However, the service wasn't satisfactory. I don't know if it was racist or just the way it is.

For me, everything was perfect; the knuckle of pork was absolutely delicious. Very attentive service. Bottom line: a top-notch brewery in a top-notch location. 👍

You can sit in front of the restaurant with a view of Gendarmenmarkt. Or, now back directly on Gendarmenmarkt. Tables and umbrellas have been set up again. PS: The construction work on Gendarmenmarkt is finished!!! (As of July 31, 2025)

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The portions are good, too. But the beer shouldn't be below the calibration mark, not even by 5 millimeters.

Generous German cuisine in this Berlin winstub.

Erdinger is a dependable place for traditional German fare. Location is also great as is the service. I’ve been here often and have tried the Schweinshaxe, the Bratwurst and the Wiener Schnitzel. It’s all been solid, albeit not the absolute best you can get in Berlin.

Unfortunately, we found the food to be just OK. The goulash was too dry, the spaetzle weren't that great, nor were the dumplings. A little love was missing in the seasoning and preparation. This evening, July 23rd, we had a very nice waitress who was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is nice and clean. But we won't be back; the food isn't good value for money. You can go here for an Erdinger beer.

A top place to enjoy Bavarian cuisine in Berlin. Both the food and the service are top-notch. 👍🏻 It's very busy on Fridays and weekends, so wait times can be a bit longer, but everything is still acceptable. The only suggestion for improvement would be to offer something for little ones. Because my little daughter can't just eat fries and applesauce every time. A mini schnitzel or a small vegetarian dish would be quite good. We'll be back anyway 🫶🏻

We found this lovely restaurant by chance. We had a lovley meal in a great atmosphere. Our 13yo order a plain burger, but they put sauce by mistake despite the fact that we asked not to. We told our server Ali, who immediately apologised and took it back to the kitchen. He brought a new one without the sauce. The food was really tasty (please try the Kaiserschmarrn) , portions good, price appropriate, but what was really outstanding was the service and, in particular, Ali. I strongly recommend this place!

Lovely, typical Bavarian restaurant - we were able to enjoy my terrace and a superb view of the Franzosischer Dom (and the entire Gendarmenmarkt). Good beer and good food, and in this case, for a reasonable price.

Anyone who has made an online reservation or hasn't entered their name in the calendar will automatically be given a table upstairs. There, the rustic seating is cramped and not very inviting. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly and tasted good. However, don't expect anything special. The restaurant seemed clean overall, including the restrooms. A fantastic view of Gendarmenmarkt is a must if you sit by the window. Bottom line: high prices for a snack with a sensational view.

The Erdinger beer here is seriously so good... I tried it at other places later, but the Erdinger beer I drank here is the best!! If you go on a nice day and sit outside at sunset and drink beer, you will have a very happy memory of your trip to Berlin 😌🤍
