🇩🇪 Schweinshaxe: German pork knuckle served with Sauerkraut and pickled cabbage. Served by a very stern-looking German, he shooed us away, looking fierce but kind. Even when the restaurant was full, he still managed to find us a table. "You have to leave by 6:30!" He slammed the table. There was live music and beer by the liter. It was so fun and cute. The pork knuckle I ate was unlike anything I've ever had in Thailand. The skin was thick enough that a fork wouldn't break it, but it was crispy and crunchy. It wasn't as salty as I'd heard, and it wasn't greasy or greasy. The pickled cabbage was tender, not sour, and not salty. The more I ate, the more I liked it. We always enjoy coming here, especially the Viennese veal schnitzel. We also really like the delicious Bavarian beers. For dessert, I highly recommend the apple strudel. Absolutely delicious.

We ordered a pretzel with a ball of obazda and half a knuckle for two. We stayed quite a bit. The food is rich and abundant.

The food was excellent – ​​especially the warm plum tart for dessert. Live music, a bustling atmosphere, a convivial atmosphere. The staff wore regional costumes. Our table was served by a slender, older, tall waitress, seemingly reserved, but – as it turned out – witty. And everything would have been fine if not for one incident that spoiled the entire experience. Two plates of dinner were brought by what seemed to be the oldest waitress, a very short one. As she was setting the plates on the table, she took the menus away. We asked her to leave them with us, as we hadn't chosen dessert yet. Then she angrily threw the menus onto the window sill where we were sitting, shouting something as she did so. I don't speak German, but from her facial expression and tone of voice, it was clear that this was not a pleasant experience. I don't think such a person should be allowed to serve guests. The owner should send her for training at the Gaffel Haus Berlin restaurant – the food there is good and the service is exceptionally friendly. So, I don't recommend visiting this place, because while the taste wasn't bad, it left a bad aftertaste. I already know I won't be returning to a place with such associations with Berlin. To identify the waitress, I'll add that we were there on November 9th at 2:30 PM. A table for four.

The staffs were friendly and the serving speed was fast. The pork knuckle was a must try and you can choose to have half or one. The vibe was casual and comfortable though the prices were also a bit high

This place has amazing real nice warm inviting feel when you walk in. We had the pretzel with cheese ball, schnitzel, meatloaf, and one of the apple struessels. Everything was really good the mashed potatoes and the potato salad were both tasty. The schnitzel was perfect. Very tender and cooked just perfect. The meat loaf was a big slab and the fried egg on top real complimented it. The dessert was a great way to end it all. The ice cream had a wonderful rich vanilla flavor and it paired great with the warm sweet apple flavors. Overall a pleasant experience and would come back to try more dishes.

A restaurant we went into without a recommendation and had a great surprise. A very cool, cozy establishment. We went on a Monday and I ordered the dish of the day, my love ordered potato soup. 10 out of 10. The beer with a touch of honey was impeccable.

The service and food are excellent.

We had a reservation and were seated right away. In Germany, we usually order one main course per person, and that’s typically sufficient. This time, we were three people and ordered two half ducks and one pork knuckle. The portions were extremely generous — easily enough for five or six guests. It would have been helpful if the waiter had mentioned that in advance. The pork knuckle was outstanding, and the duck was also very good. We also tried their special beer, which was definitely worth it.

We celebrated my dad and my birthday (both 3th of november ) and the waiter was really nice and all service and the food were excellent.thanks to give us a really special birthday day

We went there last night and it was great! The servers were friendly and smiling, speaking English and even a few words of French, haha. I highly recommend it. We had the Haxe dish, a German specialty (I only had half, which was plenty for me!).

We had a wonderful experience at Maximilianus in Berlin! The service from Yvonne was simply phenomenal – she’s so kind, funny, and absolutely lovely! 💕 The food was delicious, and the place is well-organized — modern yet traditional at the same time. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Berlin!

Before visiting this restaurant, we had already tried quite a lot of traditional German food, and we knew that one main dish is usually enough for one person. So, as usual, we ordered 2 half of duck and pork knuckle for 3 people. But when the food arrived — wow! The portions were huge! We couldn’t even finish everything. With their fresh beer from the barrel, it turned into a great and fun evening. Highly recommend — but come hungry! 😄🍺🦆🥨

It was another afternoon/evening that could have gone on much longer. Not our first time at Maximilian, and certainly not our last. The staff were incredibly friendly, even though the restaurant was full. The food was indescribable; we had spare ribs, the best we've seen around. We had lunch at this restaurant outside of Berlin, serving traditional Bavarian cuisine. The platter with warm pretzels and bread had excellent cured meats, but for our personal taste, we didn't much appreciate the butter. However, the duck with its stock and the sausage were exceptional. Quick and friendly service. Recommended!

The food was delicious, but I especially want to commend the wonderful service staff! I was there with my very energetic little son, who can hardly sit still and unfortunately also threw plates and cutlery off the table. Despite this, the entire team remained consistently friendly, attentive, and incredibly fond of children. One young, blonde employee in particular was very warm and caring towards my son – it truly touched me. Such patience and kindness are rare in restaurants. A huge thank you and much appreciation! 🙏💛

Atmosphere outside isnt great but inside seems quite good. My son and I had the large Munich bratwurst, which wasnt large at all and simply was not good value for the price, the mash and cabbage were luke warm, very disappointing. My wife had the Chicken, which she enjoyed and it was a decent portion. We'd been walking all day so we were very hungry so had to go and eat elsewhere, got a pizza. Gets a 3, probably a 2.5 tbh

An excellent and very tasty restaurant that you won't go wrong for a moment. The service there is great and precise and we had a lot of fun and very tasty food, but the prices are sky high and going there means spending a lot of money. For those who like fun, it was a one-time experience for us.

Amazing experience overall if you are interested in the German culture, there are a lot of options for beer and other original German drinks. We didn’t have to wait very much for the food, about 15 minutes, and the staff was very friendly and inclusive, they speak many foreign languages.

the half pork knuckle was quite large so i can’t even imagine how big the full one is ! the skin was super crispy and crackling, and there was a glutinous, delicious fatty layer underneath. the meat was also tender and hot, and it came apart quite easily. the meatiness kind of tasted like the pork in some chinese soups if ykwim. i liked adding a bit of mustard for a nice pungent sharp kick to the savouriness of the dish. the dumpling is very hard to describe, but it was dense and doughy and i enjoyed it ! the apple strudel was a really great dessert; it was warm, a bit mushy underneath, with generous chunks of tart apple, which was slightly sour and paired well with the sweetness of the cold vanilla ice cream. the top was also baked nice and crispy.

Anyone looking for peace and quiet is clearly out of place here, but otherwise, everything you'd expect is offered. Reservations are highly recommended. They serve good beer (Hacker-Pschorr) and traditional Bavarian dishes. The loud accordion music is a bit annoying and makes conversation difficult.

Well, it was our decision to eat Bavarian food in Berlin. The restaurant is busy and accordingly hectic and loud. Service is good after some initial hiccups. When we arrived, the reception was unmanned. This is fine for a short time, but when no one shows up after five minutes, it's a bit strange. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the food; the knuckle of pork was very fatty and the side dishes weren't particularly good.

Everything was perfect, except for the very noisy atmosphere. When the weather permits, there are also outdoor tables.

We visited the restaurant on October 18, 2025, between 6:30 PM and 7:45 PM and were seated on the indoor terrace at the back. Although the meal served was of good quality, the staff was inefficient and made inappropriate comments. Firstly, the food took a long time to be served, and the appetizers were only served after the main course, which caused it to get cold while we ate the appetizer. At the end of the meal, we had to wait a long time for the bill, and when the employee asked if we wanted to give a tip and we said no, he commented that we had been in the restaurant all night and still didn't want to give a tip. This comment, in addition to being rude, was completely inappropriate because we arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 PM and left at 7:45 PM. We consider them to have been extremely arrogant.

Delicious traditional options, including vegetarian ones (I had beetroot gnocchi with pesto and burrata, and my friends had chicken gratin with baked potatoes and sautéed vegetables).
