Pitty service is slow. Veal schnitzel is very tender and gulash suppe is fantastic.

There are a lot of customers, so the waiters will keep rushing people to compete for table turnover, and the food is just average.

When I was planning to go to Berlin, I knew that the most famous ones are pork knuckles and sausages. I thought that there were so many German restaurants that any one of them would be fine, so I didn’t search much. However, Maximilians was praised by many people, so I put it on my bucket list. After arriving in Berlin, I found that unlike other tourist cities, you can’t find restaurants everywhere. Finally, I decided to go to Maximilians The area near the restaurant is actually quite quiet. There is only one restaurant in the distance, and there are many people queuing up. Fortunately, the restaurant is quite big, and I waited less than 30 minutes to get in. We ordered roasted pork knuckles, German sausages and grilled vegetables. They were all very delicious, and the best was the German sausages. It was the most delicious meal I had in Berlin! The pork knuckles were also delicious, and the skin was very crispy. The vegetables were as good as they should be. The sweetness! I am overjoyed! I highly recommend the lemon beer, it is fresh and easy to drink. It’s a pity that the tableware and tablecloths are quite dirty😢

just got home from our visit to Berlin christmas markets trip. without doubt the highlight of our trip was dining in this Restaurant . We had the pork knuckle on both visits and it was the best we have ever had and we have been all over Germany. the service was second to none . defiantly go there .

During my solo trip to Berlin, I came to this restaurant for lunch specifically to try Schweinehaxe. I ordered a half portion of the dish, and the server recommended a perfect beer to pair with it: Hacker-Pschorr Münchner Hell. The server was incredibly accommodating and welcoming, and the dish met all my expectations—it was absolutely delicious! I also loved the beer. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic—spacious, beautifully decorated, and very inviting. If I ever return to Berlin, I will definitely come back to this restaurant. Highly recommend it to everyone!

The food in this Bavarian restaurant was very good. There is (of course) Bavarian food. Everything is included, from knuckle to white sausage. The staff, dressed in lederhosen or dirndls, are attentive and regularly check the status of the glasses. I found the prices to be relatively high. The restaurant was very busy and therefore the noise was quite high. Sometimes it was difficult to have a conversation.

Waited 15 mins at the door with absolutely no service. Multiple staff walked past and blatantly ignored us. Restaurant was not busy. Would not recommend. Felt racially discriminated with my partner.

Solid brewery with a large food and drink menu. The knuckle was juicy and crispy. The service was always quick and courteous. We were there on Saturday around 7:30 p.m. and it was buzzing, so it's better to reserve in advance. The beer from the wooden barrel is really tasty and doesn't have that much carbonation. Keep it up.

Bavarian flair in Berlin in a large restaurant with a wide variety of Alpine food and drinks. The cards are clearly written with dishes from all food categories. We were able to place the order quite quickly and received the drinks quite quickly. At least there was no boredom waiting. And the 20 meals for us also arrived almost at the same time, just a few seconds apart, without a long wait. The venison goulash was very good, the apple strudel was rather average. We had a friendly waiter who also responded to individual requests. Overall, it was a good evening at a venue that can handle large groups well. However, you should reserve in advance - especially as a group.

I've been here several times now, it's just great. The beer 🍻 is delicious, freshly tapped, large selection. Actually you should try them all, but that might not end well. Just eat bomb 😊,👍high. You can tell that the team enjoys working here. Kind regards, Gino

Great Bavarian restaurant in a busy area of Berlin. We enjoyed our hot meals here and the service was outstanding. The soft pretzel was the highlight of the afternoon here. They also have a large selection of beers here.

Good place to eat in Berlin. Typical German food, with more than generous portions. Reservations are recommended, although the line moves quickly. The staff is friendly and they help you without problem.

Went to Maximilians today with a company and found the ambience very nice, the food was of good quality, although some of it was very expensive. What wasn't nice, however, was the interaction with my companion (German and not white). When the waitress came to our table, my companion was spoken to directly in English, even though she was German and we also spoke in German. As a white person, I was spoken to in German. And even after my companion answered in German, the waitress continued to speak to her in English. When the drinks were brought to us by another person, the same thing happened again: again it was immediately assumed that my companion didn't speak German just because her skin color wasn't white. I can understand that there are a lot of international customers coming and going at Maximilians who don't speak German and that's why English is also offered as a service language. This is a good thing in itself, but it becomes problematic and, above all, hurtful (my companion felt very uncomfortable after these two incidents) when it is directly assumed that people do not speak German just because they are not white.

The one I liked the most about typical German food.

In the 4 days we visited Berlin this was head and shoulders the best bar we visited absolutely brilliant in the there . The staff were fantastic so friendly and helpful the beers were brilliant too really close to checkpoint Charlie make sure you visit.

NOT Tourist Friendly, and waiter decide for ME how much to pay This was not the first time I visit your restaurant, but it was the first time I ordered in English, since the waiter started to speak English instead of German to us. I have to admit that the food was good as always. When we asked for the final bill, the waiter came and asked for a tip pointing to a napkin with his HANDWRITTEN 10%-20%. Firstly, I ignored this, and followed what I usually do in all the restaurants to add 2-3 euros to make the total an integer, he REFUSED saying that “AT LEAST 10%”. I asked if this compulsory due to any German Law or local rules of Berlin. The waiter replied with an ANNOYING tune “YES, YOU MUST MAKE THE WAITER, THE BAR, AND THE KITCHEN HAPPY, FIRST TIME HEARD OF IT uh?”. Shame on him！ I didn’t say much to him and wrote a total with a 10% tip and gave him the card. He took away the napkin before I could take a photo. When the POS receipt was printed, the total was more than what I wrote. He decided for me how much tip I should give him. In another word, I was robbed by the waiter. He refused to provide the original receipt on which I wrote. I feel so sad of him. If I remember correctly, I was in a very famous restaurant in the center of Berlin, but I was “robbed”. I reasonably believe that this experience was because we were English-speaking-tourist-like customers, quite a lot among whom were asked for the compulsory tip according to the Social Media and also Google Maps.

We loved this restaurant in Berlin. Delicious food, speed of service, waiters with classic clothes, warm atmosphere, reasonable prices, legendary beers.

Ordered a potato soup to take away at 7.30am. The amount of soup is probably a joke. I ate 5 spoonfuls of that. Taste ok, nothing special.

It's worth a visit if you want to try traditional Bavarian dishes. The staff was very nice, the atmosphere was simply lovely, while all the dishes were very tasty, especially the white sausages and Prezn. Totally recommended :)

We arrived shortly after 10am the place closed at 11.30pm but it wasn't specified that the kitchen closed earlier and they remained open for cocktails despite this they made us sit down and immediately pressed us because the kitchen had to close we ordered 2 dishes of goulash and when the waiter came back he only came with one plate claiming that I had only asked for one the quality wasn't bad but I've definitely tried better

This was the highlight, food wise, of our 4 day trip to Berlin, we were greeted with some weissbiers, had a mix of multiple dishes and even better deserts. Andrea was our host who provided us a very good time, making recomendations of food and drinks, and even made the dinner a bit more special to our birthday boy, ideal for groups (we were 11) to taste grear bavarian food, would!

The food is really a pleasure, the goulash soup and the meat planzl were very good and the mashed potatoes with small pieces in it were very good and the atmosphere was also great, the staff attentive and quick, all in all a very good restaurant in Berlin.

Overall I liked the place. The food and beer are delicious. Prices are normal. The downside is that it is very noisy, but it’s like in any similar place in Germany.

It has an authentic atmosphere, and the traditional clothes of the waiters add joy to the atmosphere. I tried potato soup, veal schnitzel, apple strudel and their traditional alcohol with apple and raspberry. I fell in love with apple strudel. The dough was incredibly beautiful and the feeling it gave while being cut was amazing. I loved its taste with the Cream Sauce.

Fantastic meals, e.g. Styrian chicken. Nice service. I recommend it to everyone. This is a must-see gastronomic point on the Berlin map. Perfect place for a tourist lunch.

Maximilians is a great traditional restaurant with the high standards of original Bavarian cuisine in a cultivated ambience. The small snack or the 4-course menu for the whole family are on the menu, accompanied by a selection of traditional German beers. The service is friendly, fast and attentive. The food is always freshly made, including the Bretzn. Great.

We went only because we had heard that it was the best place to eat knuckle and it is. Super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. With the knuckle dish for two it is more than enough, you eat delicious and cheap. It's always packed, and you may have to wait in line, but it goes quickly. I would return.

The food is good, but the service here are way too poor, the waiters here are so rude and impatient, with no manners at all. I think they are raciest and don’t welcome foreigners here at all. I don’t like this restaurant and I won’t recommend here with anyone else.

We came here based on a recommendation, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Our expectations were high, but the experience turned out to be PERFECT. The codillo was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The soup was equally outstanding, packed with rich and comforting flavors. The service was fantastic as well; the waiters were friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient. Everything about our visit was seamless and enjoyable. If you’re looking for amazing food and excellent service, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Great place for food in Berlin, here you will see something traditional compared to the typical restaurants in the center. The staff were very attentive, they speak English, we had no problem getting in and they were quick. We ordered a whole knuckle and beef cheeks and it is truly crazy. Super recommended.

This place was recommended by our driver from the airport, mainly because we were asking about gluten free options at restaurants in Berlin. We were not disappointed at all!! I tried this restaurant yesterday by noon. I was very well received by a waiter who recommended a traditional dish to me. I had a sausage accompanied by mash with a sauce which was very tasty. Accompanied by a 0.5 cl beer and a glass of water. I added a 10% tip to the order. The waiter was perhaps a little too direct about getting his tip, but I played the game because the dish was good. Total 29 euros. So in the end, the whole thing was quite good, and very good when you are hungry, but a little bit expensive compared to the simplicity of the dishes. A good restaurant

Great place. Very busy. Got there just on 6pm and any later would have had to wait. Got a table in the courtyard. My wife had the goulash soup and I ordered the meatloaf. Fantastic meal and highly recommend.

Very authentic and fun Bavarian themed restaurant, complete with servers in Bavarian garb. They took us without a reservation and we sat on the terrace, which was pretty lively and comfortable. Great schnitzel, sausage, potato salad, and cabbage! Drinks are pretty reasonable, and the busy waiters were efficient. Will definitely come back.

This place is outstanding. The atmosphere is upbeat and high energy. It’s a busy place. The selection of beer is fantastic with the staff providing excellent guidance on their selections. The food was exceptional. In fact it was so good they I ended up going to this place twice in four days while staying in Berlin. Here’s what I had: Starter - House salad. A perfect starter. Fresh produce accompanied by an excellent dressing. Entree - Schnitzel with potato cucumber salad on one night and on the other night sausage nestled in caramelized onions sitting on a bed of potatoes surrounded by an incredible gravy. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this meal. I would go back just to have this particular dish. Desert - Apple Strudel. Absolutely perfect. Save room if yoy can. It’s well worth and nothing like the stuff they serve in Toronto, Canada. Service was outstanding. My waiter was incredibly friendly, and on top of everything. Once again this is a very busy place that also caters to large travel groups. Not once was I forgotten or neglected as a single dinner. Without a doubt one of my favorite spots in Berlin.

We were able to walk in twice without an reservation. Staff were generally friendly and efficient. The place is clean at first sight and comfortable to sit in. Food were served shortly after ordering. All of them were so tasty which was precisely the reason why we came back again just to try out other items on the menu. The pork knuckle was fried perfectly with crispy skin. Seasonings were on point did not make us super thirsty while eating.
