Definitely a restaurant recommendation in Trier. A very good atmosphere and ambiance, leaning towards high-class, but still very fair and reasonable in price. Excellent service. Good menu, creative presentation, and presentation. There's perhaps a little room for improvement here and there with the food (for example, I didn't find the standard fries as a side dish particularly impressive). But otherwise, a very nice restaurant that I always enjoy returning to.

Unfortunately, the brown-haired lady was incredibly unfriendly! The atmosphere is nice.

Unfortunately, we weren't impressed at all. There were five of us, and we were treated incredibly rudely. However, we thought the location itself was fantastic and truly beautiful. Unfortunately, the woman with the brown hair seemed overwhelmed, unfriendly, and pushy. What a shame; we definitely won't be back. If the staff is overwhelmed during the Christmas season, perhaps they should ask the manager if they can schedule more employees, or maybe try some Bach flower remedies ;-)

Very disappointed with the place. Terrible service. My main course (Wiener-style schnitzel) arrived before my aperitif and without cutlery. A few overly salty fries were thrown onto the plate along with two pieces of meat. Not exactly inspiring.

The waiter should work in the kitchen. I haven't experienced such rudeness in a long time. A smile brings in tips; this is bad for business. And you shouldn't greet a guest at the table with "So. Just drinks or food?"

We had dinner here tonight – and we were thrilled! A young man with a long braid and beard served us incredibly kindly and professionally. He was always attentive without being intrusive – simply perfect. The ambiance is reminiscent of a charming French bistro with a great atmosphere and atmospheric lighting. The food was outstanding – from the appetizer to the dessert. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I've traveled to Spain many times, but I've had the best crema catalana here! The value for money is absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Walderdorffs in Trier. We ate there as a family of four. For those who are impatient, here's the overall summary: the food was great, the service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, a great evening. Food: We had Wiener schnitzel with fries. Sounds simple, but the schnitzel was crispy without being dry inside. The fries were crispy, as they should be. Then we had the sea bream fillets, which were truly first-class, very deliciously seasoned – I haven't eaten better anywhere. The salmon fillet was good without being outstanding, but it did come with delicious pan-fried vegetables. Last but not least, there were tapas, all of which were also good. The chicken skewers were well-seasoned, nicely fried without being dry. They also served the goat cheese with honey. The portions were sufficiently large, and everyone was satisfied even without an appetizer. Service: Simply top-notch, friendly and attentive, but never annoying or intrusive. It couldn't be better. Ambience: Music played in the background in the restaurant, but not so loud that it interfered with conversation. A deduction for the restrooms, which aren't directly in the restaurant but in the hallway, is a bonus. You need a code to enter, but you only find out when you're standing there, and then you have to find a waiter who can give you the code. There was also no soap. Hence, a one-star deduction for the ambience. Price: The restaurant isn't cheap. The Wiener Schnitzel cost 18 euros, the sea bream 27 euros. As a family, we spent well over 100 euros in total, but that's something you just have to factor in when eating out these days. Given the high quality of the food, I found the price to be reasonable and not overpriced. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening at Walderdorffs; if we ever come back to Trier, we would definitely go there again.

I stopped by on a whim after visiting the cathedral. Friendly staff. The food, main course, and dessert were excellent. The atmosphere is upscale, which might suggest high prices. This isn't the case. The price/performance ratio is definitely good. I enjoyed my time there.

Nice service, great atmosphere, but the main course (we had a chicken burger and a Walderdorff burger) wasn't particularly special...€18 each wasn't really good value for money...Friko Paddys isn't for me. What a shame 😔

Great service, great ambiance. The starters were simple and delicious. However, the quality of the main course was subpar. The schnitzel was the highlight of the culinary experience. Unfortunately, instead of the single Wiener Schnitzel, two small schnitzels were served. These were unfortunately tough and dry, and the side dish was soggy and not crispy. You could tell the schnitzel had been souffléd. For the price of €18, unfortunately, the quality wasn't up to scratch. As compensation, the waitress offered an espresso on the house. Thank you for that. I'd gladly come back to try out the improved quality.

Great atmosphere! Delicious food with a wide variety of vegetarian options. Friendly and extremely attentive service. All in all, an excellently run restaurant in a prime location right by the cathedral. I highly recommend it to everyone.

The epitome of square-side European lunch bistros. Charmless, average quality and either in scorching full sun or total chilling shade (blankets can be requested). Fast food, event faster than our beers. Enjoyable when hungry. The high end appearance on google originally put me off. But it was for the wrong reason. This is actually the opposite of what I was scared of and still rubbish.

A planned and reserved evening at Walderdorffs in Trier: Arrival: An obviously bored waiter gives away the table. So far, fine. The table is sticky with a substance that's surely from the previous guest. The menus are stuck to the wet residue. Okay, it can happen. The drinks: My wife's shandy seems stale. Upon request, she's offered a new one, which isn't any better, and therefore doesn't get drunk until the end. The "pulled pork" hamburger is served with a few fries, which are then topped with Heinz mayo. The lettuce in the burger was definitely not freshly cut, as the edges were brown. Our friend's cauliflower was great, by the way. Still, it's still snack-quality. That has nothing to do with a good restaurant. The bored waiter asks, but thanks, I'm full. What a waste of money... Nothing more to say. :((

Not a tourist trap! A top-notch restaurant, well-known throughout the city. We visited four times in three days, with four different waiters, all of whom were excellent and friendly. The food is varied and very good. Not to mention the wine selection.

The whole family visited Walderdorffs and were very pleased! We sat at a table outside, there was a wonderful atmosphere of the historical center, cozy and beautiful. The food was delicious, the serving was neat, and the menu was suitable for both adults and children. It was especially nice that the waiters spoke fluent English, which simplified the order and made the evening even more comfortable. A great place to enjoy a meal with the whole family in the center of Trier!

I've been here three times with my boyfriend, and we haven't been disappointed once. The cocktails are great, the food is a work of art, and the ambiance is very elegant. The staff is quick and keeps track of all the guests, which isn't always the case. The restrooms are very clean. There's a good view of Trier Cathedral.

Friendly staff Delicious cocktails

It's shocking what this restaurant has become. We went for dinner with the family and had a reservation for the beautiful interior. When we arrived, the waiters only assigned us seats on the crowded terrace. We had to wait a full two hours for our food. Several others had the same experience, and they left the restaurant in a huff. The waitresses kept telling everyone about unexpected staff calls in sick, but they were able to eagerly seat new guests all evening.

What delicious food they serve here! There were three of us here tonight; we all had something different, and everyone had a perfect meal. If you're ever in Trier, I would definitely eat here again.

I don't feel addressed, but I find such expressions of exclusion, especially on the day of the human chain demonstration, highly inappropriate for a sense of community. It serves no purpose except to offend those who think differently. I wouldn't feel comfortable in such an establishment.

I had one of the weekly menus. It was good value for money and tasted good. Very friendly and attentive service.

The restaurant has a great location, just about two minutes from the pedestrian zone. The food and service are simply amazing. I would definitely visit the restaurant when I'm in Trier. The view of a beautiful cherry tree is certainly a beautiful sight when you sit outside.

The staff is completely overworked. The waiter constantly makes mistakes and then becomes rude to the guests. It's a shame. Ultimately, one person at our table didn't get any food at all.

The staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. It got very busy towards the end of the evening, and the staff were extremely stressed. We did have to wait a bit longer for our coffee. But that was bearable. Overall, we had a lovely evening in a great atmosphere.

That was a truly nasty experience. We passed by the restaurant on Saturday evening (July 28, 2018) well before 8:00 PM, and there was still a table free for the five of us. So we sat down. It took an unusually long time for a server to arrive at the table. She then took the drink orders (but only from four people, and she became a little annoyed when the fifth person she had overlooked also requested a drink). She also recorded a "Bitter Lemon" as "medium water" and didn't notice that the person she asked about it hadn't heard her follow-up question. Fortunately, this was resolved at the table. When the drinks arrived, we ordered food. Nothing elaborate: three burgers with fries, a goat cheese salad, and a beef fillet salad. And a few olives as a starter. The olives arrived relatively quickly, but they were warm (???). Until then, we thought it was just a kitchen gag. The food finally arrived in portions, starting at 10:35 PM (more than 2.5 hours after our order). The waitress came to our table several times and apologized for the delay. But just taking more drink orders was becoming increasingly overwhelming. At 10:00 PM, as "compensation for the long wait," she offered a basket of bread (white baguette slices – really cheap white bread, nothing special), which you'd get at any other restaurant for no extra charge (here, it was apparently a great extra, intended to appease guests?) Two tables, each occupied by about 10-12 people, had apparently thrown the kitchen off its stride. When we saw what was being served at these tables (mostly tapas), we were quite astonished by the kitchen's incompetence. I'm only an amateur cook, but I'm confident I can cook tapas for 24 people, while also frying three burgers and throwing together two salads with a side dish (that's all it was – sorry, dear kitchen), in well under 30 minutes. Since the restaurant has about 40 seats outside and another 20 inside, 24 guests arriving at the same time shouldn't be a reason to completely overwhelm the staff and kitchen. Honestly: if we're ever in Trier again, we'll definitely never eat here again.

Waldersdorffs bietet eine stilvolle und einladende Ambiente mit sehr bequem Sitzgelegenheiten. Das personal war sehr freundlich,aufmerksam,schnell und zuvorkommend. Vor allem das Essen war vielseitig,schmackhaft,gut zubereitet und professionell serviert. Insgesamt wir hatten einen schönen Abend.wir können mit gutem Gewissen und uneingeschränkt diesen Restaurant weiterempfehlen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Qualität der Speisen,die hervorragende Ambiente und der freundliche Service.

The blonde waitress on Friday night really needs to work on her attitude; she was absolutely unpleasant. It's a shame. If you work in the restaurant industry, you should know how to deal with people.

Terrace was only a third full and yet they managed to make us wait so long that we went to a neighbouring full terrace where we were served immediately. The waiter looked relaxed otherwise.

Very good meal on the terrace as usual

Four of us sat on the terrace and drank wine. The view from the Domfreihof of Trier Cathedral, the Church of Our Lady, and several city palaces is breathtakingly beautiful. The square, planted with plane trees, makes you feel like you're in Italy. The wine selection is good and the prices are reasonable.

Staff 'uninvolved' at best. Glasses and dishes dirty. Cake was good (that's why not 1*). Only half full and still long waiting times, without information. Invoice does not match prices on card.

We really enjoyed our diner at Walderdorffs. Loved the Bouchée à la Reine with the French fries that I particularly appreciated ^^ Plus the location is ideal, you can have a drink sitting in the terrasse. Staff members are nice

Great location, good food and beer

Unfortunately one of the waiters was extremely unfriendly. We sat down at a table as normal and he immediately said that we should immediately get the things from the table so that he can wipe through or we can leave straight away. Afterwards he slammed the ashtray on the table, became almost angry and was extremely rude throughout the rest of the evening. You shouldn't let your stress or bad mood out on your customers. Otherwise the atmosphere + the drinks are super nice and cozy. But we won't be coming back because we found the behavior to be extremely disrespectful and the waiter has often been unfriendly towards us. Too bad

We would come back in a heartbeat. The restaurant is only 1 minute away from the pedestrian zone and offers plenty of space outside. Good lighting concept inside and nice service. The pulled pork burgers were good and served quickly. The small side salad was sufficient. Only the exhaust system in the kitchen needs to be adjusted a little better (a slight “frit” smell afterwards).

Very bad service. When we arrived they said that we couldn’t order food from main menu, but could order tapas. We ordered drinks, and ordered tapas. In a few minutes the waiter came back saying that actually the kitchen was closed and tapas was also not available. Just wasted our time, really.

A family of four paid about 110 euros for lunch, including food, drinks and dessert. We ate at the outdoor seating right in front of Trier Cathedral, complete with a fireplace, so we didn't get cold, and all the staff were friendly. I think everyone who dines here when the weather is nice will be happy. The food was all delicious and great. I want to come here again.

Läget en fin dag där man kan sitta ute och titta ut över torget och Domen är fantastiskt. Vi åt en god fish and chips och en schnitzel som var ok , men inget extra. Trevlig personal.

Hello everyone, if you are in Trier, don't miss the Walderdorffs restaurant. Special food, fine wines. This has become one of my favorite places of my vacation in Germany so far, along with the Dom.

I always wanted to go to Trier and am currently making a list of nice places to stop for a break... Then I noticed this picture.... I wonder, who is welcome there now? After all, they are round 40% of people in DE are not currently boosted.... Are these opponents of prevention in the sense of this business owner? Does every guest have to take an intelligence test before they are allowed in? Are religious people too mystical for that? Where does it begin and where does it stop being pleasant to him? Are there currently too few access restrictions in this country? Well, apparently for this host. That doesn't appeal to me, it generally seems unfriendly.

Wir waren letzte Woche mit Freunden zum Essen hier. Die Vorspeisen sowie der Hauptgang war super. Alle waren begeistert. Die regionalen Weine sind auch super. Das Ambiente ist sehr einladen und die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug. Gerne wieder.

Nous avons diné dans ce restaurant avec notre fille et nous avons été un peu déçu. Le service n’est pas à la hauteur du standing du restaurant. Nous avons réservé par Internet mais à notre arrivée, le serveur ne retrouve pas notre réservation et nous explique qu’il faudra nous serrer à trois sur une table prévue pour 2 couverts alors que 4 tables sont libres (Lorsque nous sommes partis les 4 tables étaient toujours disponibles… Voir photo). Les femmes ne sont pas servies prioritairement, les plats sont passés devant les convives et le serveur n’est pas très attentionné. La cuisine est bonne et les plats sont copieux Juste un regret : les scampis n’étaient pas assez flambés et le goût du pastis était prononcé dans le reste du plat. La décoration et l’ambiance musicale sont très soignées.

Gutes Mittagessen, vegetarisches Angebote, flotter, freundlicher Service, chiques Ambiente, da gehen wir gerne wieder hin!

Reception was very friendly, as were both service staff, attentive, food came quickly, payment was also easy.... but what is really unacceptable is that 19 euros are charged for a really ordinary vegan lentil stew with 4 mini potatoes, 4 pearl onions and 4 tablespoons of rice , absolutely excessive, as the dish is really nothing special (not even in terms of taste), what a shame!

Ottimo ristorante, bell'ambiente. Personale molto simpatico e cucina ottima. Ho preso les bouchées à la reine :squisito e buoni anche i ravioli ricotta e spinaci. Sinceramente un indirizzo che consiglio. Prezzi nella norma.

Mittagessen auf der wunderschönen Walderdorffs Terrasse mit Domblick. Tolle Speisen und Getränkeauswahl. Mein Mittagsmenü war hervorragend ein Gaumenschmaus. Freundliche Bedienung guter Service.

Misleading information to have us seat and order drinks while the kitchen was closed so we had to leave and pay for the drinks. Waste of time and money with our family on our only weekend to visit the city. Edit with additional information in order to address the reply from the owners below: It was 11:30am and we specifically asked if they were open before seating down with our baby. It would have been expected to warn us that the kitchen was closed. Instead we were asked what we wanted to drink, ordered only a bottle of water (by which point it should have been clear we were expecting to order food) and only when that bottle was being opened did the waitress tell us that the kitchen is closed - thus the misleading part. Anyway, we suppose the reply below and its unprofessional tone speaks for itself.
