Service sehr freundlich , das Essen war super und es ist immer wieder eine Freude in alte zeiten zurück zukehren. Das Essen ist wie immer super und eine tolle Qualität. Man sollte aber frühzeitig reservieren

The atmosphere is really very authentic. Lots of decorative pieces, pictures, books and of course a matching menu. Crockery and cutlery also seemed appropriate. The dishes were consistently tasty and well presented. Spiced meat, solyanka and fake rabbit tasted really great. Price performance is also okay and attentive, nice service.

It was just great!:) You are catapulted straight back into the past. It's really worth it!! 😊 Thank you very much for the good hospitality.

Excellent, I would just advise against ordering the cold dog, as it is a bit expensive compared to the amount you get (one slice) at 5.80 euros.

I've been meaning to come here for a while, and today I did it. You walk through the door and you have traveled back 40 years to a wonderfully decorated restaurant. The food is also amazing, just like it was back then with Grandpa and Grandma. I can only recommend everyone to stop by here and enjoy the charm of the GDR with the typical food and ambience and just switch off for a while

We went to the Volkskammer today and had a really nice evening there. Everything is perfect, from the welcome, to the service, to the ambience, to the food. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back.

We went to the Volkskammer for my friend's birthday, for me it was a little journey back in time and for us a delicious meal. There was something for every taste, and when we start eating across plates, that's a good sign. It's nice that you exist.

The ambience, the menu, all the little details reminded me of a wonderful time when I traveled with my parents to visit the family in the GDR. It was so cozy and great. Truly quite an experience, such a German themed restaurant. We were served kindly and the food was good! Very authentic, simple and very affordable. We definitely recommend this restaurant. Toilet etc were also clean. There were also many locals, but they were used to tourists (English menu available).

Very good location. Here you feel like you have been transported back behind the former wall. The chairs are original seating furniture from the GDR era, the tables have an additional transparent plastic cover. This was a very practical way to protect the tablecloth underneath, not just during the GDR era. Numerous pictures also remind us of the past. The food is also like it used to be. So if you're looking for a culinary highlight, you've come to the right place. A visit is worth it, reservation would be helpful.

Jumbled together GDR devotional items. No real taste or concept behind it. However, the location in the plate fits very well. The seating also matches the GDR design, but I can't remember ever sitting on upholstered chairs in the GDR restaurant. The service staff was good, but you totally miss friendliness or smiles. I did NOT feel in good hands and not welcomed as a husband. The food was really typical GDR and tasted good. The portions were ok. (Except for the rice pudding - the price and portion size are not right at all) All in all - it could be MUCH BETTER! However, the restaurant was very busy, especially on a Tuesday. For me, the whole evening took away from my GREAT COMPANY. A bit of nostalgia

The drinks are the same as back then, if you want Vita Cola here you can get that too. The homemade punch bowls are highly recommended. I had an absolutely delicious strawberry punch!!!! The service is super attentive, nice and forthcoming. Absolutely attentive staff who do their job with joy and well! The furnishings are like before and perfectly match the theme! The couch with the typical pattern and color, the lamps... everything, even the floor is as if you have traveled back in time. Simply wonderful Come here and let a little nostalgia taste and have an effect on you!

If you would like to take a culinary “journey” into the past of the GDR, this is the right place for you. No matter whether it's the ambience or the food, it's perfect here. The service is carried out with a lot of charm and humor in a super friendly manner. We always advise friends and acquaintances to visit the Volkskammer when we know they are going to Berlin. To be on the safe side, you should reserve a table in advance as the restaurant is always busy. We will come back here on our next visit to Berlin.

Pretty weird GDR restaurant, where the good and rich original East German cuisine is still celebrated. Extremely delicious. Everything in the guest room is lovingly decorated in the East. Come again

Great staff, good food at fair prices. The food is cooked according to GDR recipes. I can't say whether it still tastes the same, after all, it's been 35 years since then. But it's delicious. You also have to look at the ambience.

The reservation was made with a phone call (no chance online). The order also worked. We have 15 minutes for the drinks. waited. Okay, we thought and were looking forward to the food.... it came relatively quickly.... but we as OSSIS can say: the dishes have the NAME from the GDR, but nowhere near the taste. What a shame actually!! (that could be better) I can say about the service: overwhelmed, overwhelmed, overwhelmed, trying to cover it up with slight friendliness. It may be an address for tourists to see the ambience, but you shouldn't have high expectations. Original GDR restaurant with delicious food! We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the delicious food. Service was also very good and not far from the East train station.

We went to the Volkskammer for lunch for the second time today. There were 5x the Jägerschnitzel and once the parsed pollack fillet with fried potatoes. The portions, even for children, were more than sufficient and very tasty. I was really excited about the remoulade sauce and would have liked my portion of fish and fried potatoes to be a little larger. I really, really enjoyed it. The staff is very accommodating and super nice and helpful. As soon as we come to Berlin again, this will be our address for a delicious lunch again. Thank you

Very good restaurant with even better and very friendly staff and even better food. In terms of taste, it was a highlight and is hard to top. The price-performance ratio is more than fulfilled. I have to honestly admit that I have never been served such a tender and delicious pork knuckle as in the Volkskammer, the food and the very friendly atmosphere are worth a visit to Berlin.

A real trip back in DDR. Good cuisine, atmosphere very relax and the room is packes with genuine soviet antiques. Prices are very affordable for such a central location. Kids menu available 😋

The food was great, it really took me back to my childhood. The service staff was friendly and attentive, you really couldn't fault anything. The ambience was also really good, the GDR theme continued all the way to the sanitary facilities. All in all it was a very nice evening.

Saw it on TV 4 years ago and finally went there. Service is friendly but a bit inattentive. There were three of us and we were able to get two cards from the table because we only got one. The time from ordering was also a bit long. However, the quality is optimal. Had very tasty hunter (sausage) schnitzel and roulade. The solyanka was also top class. The ambience is great. Not only the interior design, but also the dishes are from state-owned companies. Gladly again.

Food came after 1 hour upon request. Goulash was cold. On the second attempt it was ok.

Simply TOP! Actually, I wasn't expecting much, but I was really surprised. First of all, great service and really interesting menu - with great dishes. As a starter, Harz cheese - that was really a good start. I had the onion roast with fried potatoes and cucumber salad. The meat was very tender, in a great sauce and the fried potatoes were very well seasoned and also well fried. The cucumber salad was super light and with fresh dill. I recommend you and will come back next time I visit Berlin.

Food was ok. Waitress was very aggressive about tips (there was barely any service for my party of 1, apart from carrying the food. I found my own seats, got my own menu, got my own coaster for the drink because they forgot). Cannot recommend.

The place is very atmospheric. The food is great, I'd like to highlight the goulash, it's really delicious. Just a note: jagerschnitzel is very simple and there's no meat in it. Don't expect it to be tasty. But I still leave 5 stars because it's supposed to be like that. Other dishes (like goulash) have real and tasty meat though

We were guests here a year ago. Everything was good there too. This time we went there with a group for dinner. We had reserved a table beforehand and were lucky enough to get seats outside after a quick consultation. The female waitress was the kind of waitress we would expect, despite a lot of work, she always had a cheeky saying on her lips, thank you for that. The male colleague was rather material towards us. We all liked the food and the value for money was generally okay, apart from the Shopska salad, which also tasted good but in my opinion is borderline pricey at €13.50. Maybe just my perception. But everyone should try it out for themselves. Conclusion: Our clear recommendation for the Volkskammer! See you next time!

We ran into this place just being lucky and we are so grateful it was that way. The service was warm and patient, the food was delicious, well served; had the chance to try real German food, drinks were good as well. Definitely a good spot to sit, eat, drink and enjoy!

We were a group of 10 people and had a lot of fun in the Volkskammer. As “Ossis” we recognized a lot of the decoration from the past and reminisced. The service was great, always on hand and always friendly (thanks for the great photos) The food was also very good. It was a completely successful evening. Thank you for that. We visited the East Side Gallery and the Berliner Mauer: an impressive leap into the historical memory of DDR and Berlin East/West division. Looking for a place for lunch, we discovered this local restaurant: it was a perfect choice. The typical German dishes are tasty, well presented and simply served with a good smile. This familiar place is suggested for its quality, good dishes and prices. Not a luxury place, but very good.

Of course, on your first day in Berlin you have to eat something classic. I was recommended the chamber by a friend and I am thrilled. Here you can taste that it is homemade. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great too. The solyanka is a must. I've rarely had anything so delicious.

I came here with 2 friends from Colombia who wanted to try typical German food and it was the perfect restaurant for that. So originally decorated, super tasty and authentic food and the staff, Jeanette (sorry if you spell it differently 😄) and Mario, were sooo nice and accommodating! ❤️

Authentic Eastern ambience, good food, price too and right at the Ostbahnhof.

The first impression was very good. The food wasn't great. Seasoned meat was neither reminiscent of the “East” nor tasty. Meatloaf was declared as false rabbit, but it was a meatloaf. Every Ossi knows that the wrong rabbit is filled with eggs. “Roast sauce” was a ready-made sauce flavored with cinnamon. The location inside is sensational. You felt catapulted back years. Clear 5 points. Outside there were tattered oilcloth tablecloths, table safety devices that you had to climb over with difficulty. For us it was an experience that we don't need again... it's a shame... I can't understand the good reviews because of the food

The food is like what you would have experienced in a company canteen during GDR times. Apart from the schnitzels. I don't remember the luxury. The staff is friendly and quick. The prices are OK.

Unfortunately, the Rostbrätel is roast pork. Otherwise very nice staff and tasty food.

Food includes the typical dishes that were available in the East back then: Jägerschnitzel, fake hare, broiler, etc. This cuisine rightly has a simple reputation, but in the Volkskammer it tasted excellent. We will definitely come back again.

I would have loved to have bought the menu too, but you weren't allowed to do that. You really succeeded in taking a nostalgic trip. If the waiters were as rude as they used to be, it would be really realistic 😉. The recipes were great and everything we tried was delicious.

Yesterday we had dinner with a smaller group in the Volkskammer. We were all very enthusiastic and immersed ourselves in the GDR era for a few hours. The location is incredibly authentic and equipped with lots of details. We all really enjoyed the typical East German food. The service put a lot of effort into it and we felt completely comfortable. Nice restaurant in GDR style. But the portions are quite small for the prices. You won't feel full without a starter. The quality is also not particularly good. The seasoned meat with gratinated cheese was as firm as the sole of a shoe, but edible for me because I'm not a complainer. Still very small portion. I guess what you pay for here is primarily the GDR feeling. The service was nice.
