Ich war von diesem Ort rundum begeistert. Der Service, das Essen und die Außenterrasse waren fantastisch. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Wir sind zufällig hier gelandet und es war ein echter Glücksgriff! Wenn man irgendwo ankommt und es voller Einheimischer ist, sagt das schon einiges aus. Bessere Preise als in den typischen Berliner Touristenrestaurants und außergewöhnliche Qualität. Die Angestellten sind unglaublich freundlich, was in dieser Stadt selten ist, besonders für Touristen, und sie versuchen nicht, einen mit Trinkgeldern abzuzocken. Absolut empfehlenswert, ehrlich!

Wir hatten einen richtig guten Abend. Das Schnitzel war richtig gut und der Inhaber als auch die Kellnerinnen waren super freundlich 😊

Das Essen schmeckt ungelogen wie bei Oma. Selbst jede kleine Beilage, auf den Punkt. Es fehlt an nichts! Immer gerne wieder, vor allem bei so nettem Service :)

Sind dort schon seit Jahren Stammkunde und der Besuch ist jedes Mal wunderbar. Ob zur Spargel-, Pfifferlings- oder Weihnachtszeit. Sehr freundliches Personal und gute deutsche Küche. Beides kaum noch zu finden. Familienfreundlich Lokal, wo man sich wohl fühlt. Das Schnitzel mit Beilagen ist immer zu empfehlen!

We walked in with high expectations and walked out downright delighted. It’s hard to imagine a more traditional snapshot of Berlin on a plate. I went for the venison—lean, tender, and elevated by a cherry sauce and Rotkohl that tasted like someone’s grandma still runs the kitchen. My father’s veal liver was excellent, and my mother and sister split a heroic portion of Wiener Schnitzel that disappeared suspiciously fast. Classic beer all around. Every bite hit the mark. Highly recommend. 🦌

We ate here recently and had roulade and schnitzel. Both were very good. The atmosphere and service were also excellent.

There were five of us for dinner. It was wonderful; our parents were able to order their meals from the large, senior-friendly portions, and our baked potato was presented with such care. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent and attentive! We'll definitely be coming back here next time we're in Berlin.

But the experience was by no means limited to the food: the service was exceptionally attentive, friendly, and yet discreet—just the right balance. You felt welcome and well looked after, without ever being pressured. Overall: A thoroughly enjoyable experience—I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to anyone who values ​​excellent cuisine and service off the beaten tourist track (Kastanienallee, Oderberger Straße).

The location and ambiance are pleasant. The interior atmosphere is pleasant. It offers a pleasant dining environment. It has a rich menu. The food and desserts are delicious. The presentation is good. The veal schnitzel was good, but children sometimes can't stomach red meat, so it would be great if a chicken schnitzel option were added to the menu.

We've been coming here for Christmas duck dinners in December for years. With dumplings and red cabbage. The restaurant is well-kept, and the staff is very friendly and professional. After delivery problems last year, this year's half duck is a generous size. More dumplings or sauce? Arrived promptly. A definite recommendation!

Very good German home-style food. Tastes like home, at least for the older ones among us. And the younger ones can experience what truly good traditional German cuisine tastes like. Extensive selection, with vegans and food intolerances catered for. The service is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You can have a great evening here with good food.

The pork cutlet was really delicious I was like, what is this fried egg on top of the cutlet? But it tastes much better when you eat it together The salad sauce was also delicious Oh, but it's cash payment, so bring cash.

I'm torn on this one. The weather was nice so we ideally wanted to enjoy a meal outside but they were all reserved so we settled for a table inside, which was still pleasant, though we were the only people dining inside. The service was friendly, and when they did mess up our order slightly, they were quick to apologize and correct it. We came here as part of my tour of trying every schnitzel in Berlin, so of course I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel (vom Kalb) as my main and my date got the Schweineschnitzel mit Champignonsrahm und Bratkartoffeln. It came out pretty quickly, but my date got fries instead of Bratkartoffeln. Like I said, they were quick to apologize, though, and let her keep the fries while they brought out fresh Bratkartoffeln for her. My Kalbschnitzel came in two pieces. The first one, I found the meat to be a bit tough and the breading was falling off, making it hard to eat gracefully. So I was a little disappointed. But then I started on the second piece, which was muuuch more tender and stayed together very well. So I was impressed with the schnitzel, but only half, sadly. I also tried some of my date's pork schnitzel, which was good, but we agreed the mushroom sauce tasted like cream of mushroom out of a can. Even with those minor letdowns, we opted to order the Kaiserschmarrn for dessert, because you have to if it's on the menu, right? It came with a chocolate drizzle, which I found a bit odd, but the pancakes were cooked to perfection, so I'm glad we ended on a high note. When we asked to pay, they offered to move us outside for some after-dinner drinks, but it was too late at that point (I wish they'd offered earlier), so we headed out. Overall, I wanted this place to be better, but there are plenty more schnitzels in the sea, and maybe you'll have better luck than we did with the seating and meat cuts!

The food was delicious and the service very friendly. We'd be happy to come back next time we're in the area. We sat outside in the evening sun, which was very pleasant. We finished off our meal with two fruit schnapps. However, payment is only accepted in cash.

The food was great and prices were fair, but the service at the end ruined our experience. The waiter was extremely rude when we paid — he yelled at us for not tipping and threw the receipt on the table. We were respectful and didn’t know the tipping custom in Germany. Very disappointing and hurtful behavior.

We went to eat at the Altberliner Restaurant in February after a long trip from Switzerland. And we were thrilled. The young lady who served us was extremely nice and friendly. She did a great job. 😀 And the food was incredibly delicious. Nice selection on the menu. We'll stop by again on our next visit.

Hello, very long-established business in the middle of Mitte, located in a very venerable atmosphere, offers home-style cuisine, which, given the location and appearance of the restaurant, is not exactly cheap. All the best to the company.

Nine of us dined there. A wide variety of dishes were chosen from the menu. Everything was very tasty and freshly prepared. There is an absolute feel-good atmosphere in the restaurant, to which the ladies who looked after us contributed significantly with their friendly and absolutely hospitable manner. It was a perfect evening in Prenzlauer Berg.

Yesterday I ate here for the first time. Alt Berliner Restaurant can mean anything in Berlin :-) from Kascheme to really really successful Luckily the latter was the case and I'm super excited 👍🏻 Very nicely decorated restaurant. The Christmas decorations were just right. Not too much and not too little either. The waitresses were totally friendly and attentive. I had goose breast with dumplings and red cabbage/kale to eat. Everything is exactly as it should be and the chest is on point. Not a bit dry. Kaiserschmarren was shared for dessert. Very attentive here too. One was asked whether with or without raisins. All in all a very successful evening. Perfect meal. I'll definitely come back ☺️

Wir waren gestern seit langem mit Freunden einmal wieder in den „Altberliner Kaffestuben“ und haben uns gleich wieder heimisch gefühlt. Wir haben in den 80-er und 90-er Jahren in der Wolliner gewohnt und waren damls oft zu Gast. Das Restaurant hat nichts von seinem charme in Qualität verloren. Familiengeführt.Leider war der Damlige junior Chef und heutige Inhaber nicht da. Sehr gute Küche und mit viel Liebe auf den Teller zelebriert. Keine Tiefkühlkost wie man es in den Touristenzentren findet. Die Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Einfach rundherum Klasse. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle demnächst wieder und bringen auch Urberliner mit um zu beweisen, dass es in Berlin auch noch „deutsche Kulinarik“ zu moderaten Preisen gibt. Vielen Dank und bis bald.

At one of the most wonderful hidden squares Arkonaplatz this is a perfect Berlin restaurant with exceptional food and most important the best service you can imagine. Impressive and worth to consider among the many options of this area.

Leider kann ich nicht besser bewerten. Wir waren am 1.5 mit einer grossen Reisegruppe da. Es gab Fertigschnitzel mit Kochkartoffeln. War nicht der Bringer. Aber da es für uns nur ein Gericht gab, welches der Touranbieter bestellt hat, möchte ich es nicht überbewerten.! Aber mehr als 1 Stern kann ich hier wirklich nicht geben. Es gibt auch eine Speisekarte, aber leider konnten wir an dem Tage zu der Uhrzeit nichts anderes bestellen.Was aber wirklich unter aller Kanone war, waren die beiden Bedienungen. Ich wollte zB. noch eine Portion Pommes dazu bestellen, aber es hieß, die Küche sein schon zu. Auch OK! Auch ein Koch hat ein frei! Dann versuchte ich über die Bedienung ein Grossraumtaxi zu bestellen. Das scheiterte zunächst, weil man mir mitteilte, dass man gerade die Abrechnung machen würde. Ok auch das ist ok. Also fragte ich nach ca 30 Minuten noch einmal. Die Antwort lautete" bestellen sie es doch selber!" Die andere Bedienung meinte ich solle besser selbst ein Uber rufen. Ich fragte nach ob das jetzt ihr ernst sei. Die Antwort war" die nächste Strasse rechts ist ein Taxistand". Das Taxi bekamen wir erst dann, als der Reiseleiter von uns das irgendwie organisierte. Freundlichkeit in diesem Restaurant ist nicht vorhanden. Der grösste Hammer kam dann 2 Tage später. Es gab einen Anruf des Besitzers auf "mein privates Handy". Meine Frau hatte wohl eine schon eine schlechte Bewertung geschrieben und das passte ihm wohl nicht. Trotzdem stellte sich mir die Frage, wo der Herr denn meine private Handynummer her hatte, denn ich hatte mich zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch gar nicht zu dieser Sache geäußert! Jedenfalls gab ich das Telefon dann an meine Frau weiter. Er teilte dann meiner Frau mit, dass sich beide Bedienungen sich nicht an solch einen Vorfall erinnern könnten.Ich kann den Aussagen meiner Frau aber nur zustimmen! Ich werde dieses Lokal mit Sicherheit nicht noch einmal besuchen, wenn es nicht muss! Es wäre schön, wenn diese Rezession hier auch erscheinen würde! Ich bin im Übrigen immer bemüht sachlich zu sein,aber ich wurde an dem Tag wirklich enttäuscht. :(

We were a large tour group who announced our order well in advance. Each of us took either a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian dish. The owner claimed that he had not been informed of this, which is why no vegetarian dishes were prepared! Instead he offered to make pasta with tomato sauce. Ridiculous. The other dish, pork schnitzel with three jacket potatoes and four slices of fried zucchini, wasn't filling. The schnitzel was tiny, poorly fried and looked like it came from the subway. Disappointing.

Real Berlin owner, can be recommended, especially a unique place in Mitte where only burgers & Asian style can be found👍🏻👍🏻

We were there with a tour group and got the following menu: - boiled potatoes with vegetables and schnitzel (a ready-made item from Metro) - Chocolate pudding With such a large group with a fixed schedule, it's understandable that you'll resort to half-finished products here and there. What is incomprehensible, however, is the unfriendliness in dealing with guests when they ask whether the staff can call a taxi.

Unfortunately I can't rate it better. We were there on May 1st with a large tour group. There was ready-made schnitzel with boiled potatoes. Wasn't the bringer. But since there was mass processing here, I don't want to overestimate it. Certainly the food from the menu is better! But what was really out of the ordinary were the two waitresses. For example, I wanted I also ordered a portion of fries, but they said the kitchen was already closed. Also OK. It can happen. Then I tried to order a large taxi through the waitress. That initially failed because I was informed that the billing was currently being done. Ok, that's ok too. So after about 30 minutes I asked again. The answer was "order it yourself!" The other waitress said I should call an Uber myself. I asked if she was serious now. The answer was "the next street on the right is a taxi rank". We only got the taxi when our tour guide somehow organized it. There is no friendliness in this restaurant. The biggest hammer came two days later. There was a call from the owner on "my personal cell phone". My wife had probably already written a bad review and he probably didn't like that. Nevertheless, I was left wondering where the gentleman got my private cell phone number, because I hadn't commented on the matter at all at that point! Anyway, I then passed the phone to my wife. He then told my wife that neither waitress could remember such an incident. But I can only agree with my wife's statements! I definitely won't visit this place again if I don't have to!

The Altberliner is right across from the Nivea Store coming down from the Brandenburg Gate. It has a cosy outdoor seating area but we opted to sit inside because it was a tad windy. Inside was cozy and the menus are like newspaper. I went with 2 friends and we were seated promptly and our wait staff( a young lady) gave us enough time to study the menu. We ended up ordering the same thing ... Schweinshaxe with sauerkrut. It was delicious and the perfect combo. It was crispy light outside and the meat so juicy. Sauerkrut gave the skin a refreshed taste. We cleaned our plates and was so full that we don't even have room for dessert. We did order a salad to share.
