Amazing food! I go back every time I go to Hamburg!

Nice place to stop and have a drink and some food. Small seating area outside, good umbrella coverage. Had the dirty prawns. Only issue was I had to share. Rookie mistake. Don't go on a diet.

Very good food with convincing service

I left a bad review months ago because the service that day was unfortunately not good. But just as service can sometimes be bad, you can also be wrong. I was there again recently, and I have to admit, everything was fantastic. So I deleted my old review and couldn't give it less than 5 stars this time!

The Underdocks are no longer underdogs at all and already operate three fish stalls and food trucks in the Hanseatic city. Underdocks may look like a generic burger joint opened between 2017 and 2024, but the appearance shouldn't deceive you. While they primarily serve filled rolls, they do so not with ungulates, but with sea creatures. Underdocks owes its name and success primarily to one dish. The lobster roll has transformed the fish roll into a real gem. The Harald Glööckler of crab rolls, but with far better taste. At 35 euros, the lobster-filled roll costs a good seven times as much as a standard fish roll in the neighborhood, but it's definitely worth it. Just be sure to stock up on a few of those lemon wraps that usually come with fried chicken, because this admiral roll will leave you speechless. If you're not so keen on spending your hard-earned money at the harbor, the less expensive dishes are also a great option, and you can use the money you save to whip some caraway seeds between your gills. There's something here for everyone who's enjoyed the simple herring sandwich or fish cakes more than once.

Sturdy fish stall. I had fish and chips. They were delicious. Especially on weekends, you should allow some time, as it can get very busy. Unfortunately, they only serve Becks.

In my opinion, it's a bit overhyped. I had a salmon roll. It was tasty and fresh, but not exactly a highlight. The chips, on the other hand, are fantastic. The waiters are a bit agitated, but still friendly and attentive. There's nothing to say about the ambiance. It's a cool pub, but not exactly inviting.

UNDERDOCKS in Hamburg's St. Pauli district is truly a special place. The location impresses with its modern, urban flair – and what's especially nice is that you can also sit outside and enjoy the hustle and bustle. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the very first moment. The food was fantastic – creative, fresh, and prepared with love. A particularly positive point: Although the restaurant focuses on fish specialties, there are also truly delicious vegetarian options. This makes the visit worthwhile for everyone. The sweet potato fries with Dirty Upgrade were particularly delicious! An all-round successful experience – we'll definitely be back!

This is my home! Everything tastes great. Cool and friendly service. You'll spend a little money to get a decent meal. You can't compare this place to fast food chains; that would be disrespectful! But if you compare it purely in terms of price, Underdocks is a bargain. I'm thrilled!

Cool food spot with delicious and modern fish creations! The shrimp and fried fish were cooked to perfection, and the portions were really generous. Service was super friendly and attentive. The food arrived quickly, too. Definitely worth it!

Living just around the corner I finally made it to Underdocks just to be disappointed. Friendly staff and good service but food was mediocre. Everything we ate (Underdocks Container and a Taco mix) was save for the dips provided pretty dull in taste and quite greasy.

We've been here three times and all three times it was incredibly delicious. The portions are large, the shrimp are huge, very filling and tasty. The prices are average, but they justify themselves completely. The tacos are simply unrealistically delicious)

Unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant experience. The fish and chips were completely unseasoned; only the tiny bit of dip had some seasoning. When the dip was finished, it was completely dry and incredibly tasteless. The fact that the cashier then reached into the food to nibble on a few chips was the icing on the cake. You don't have to begrudge him his meal, but he certainly hadn't washed his hands. Sorry, but that's an absolute no-no.

The food was absolutely delicious, and I discovered my new favorite fried potatoes. The salmon burger was also really tasty, but unfortunately, it came without any cutlery, which made it difficult to eat due to the very poor service. The decor is really inviting, even if the music is a bit too loud. You'll also find friendly staff and great drinks there.

Our visit to Underdocks was a culinary experience that far exceeded our expectations. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you sense the successful blend of street food charm and urban sophistication – and this atmosphere is reflected in the plate. I opted for the Crispy Tiger Roll – a true highlight. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with harmoniously balanced flavors and a texture that makes every bite an experience. My companion chose the Fried Fish Burger, which impressed with its juicy fish fillet, fluffy bun, and perfectly balanced sauces. No trace of over-the-top fast food – they work with sophistication. Particularly worth mentioning: the taco trilogy with salmon, mussels, and again Crispy Tiger. Each individual taco was a harmonious little work of art. The salmon was buttery tender, the mussels aromatic and cooked to perfection, and the Crispy Tiger once again left nothing to be desired. Conclusion: Underdocks serves innovative seafood street food at a level you won't find anywhere else in Hamburg. If you love fresh fish and creative combinations, this is the place for you. A true culinary delight – highly recommended.

I'm always amazed at how their soft, yet not dry, rolls go perfectly with the fish and sauces, and the side dishes are delicious too. The interior setting is very nice; the exterior would be nicer without the street in front, but it's still 5 stars.

Had a fried fish roll. Really very tasty. The shop is not ONLY hype but also makes good food. A little too expensive but OKEE. At the end there was a short one on the house. Looking forward to next time.

One word: INCREDIBLE. I've been meaning to come here for a long time. I finally did it and all I can tell you is: WOW! Great relaxed style and incredibly open and great service. Food: I really wanted to try the lobster roll. Of course it costs a fortune (unfortunately), but it was worth it! All in all: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Hamburg's famous fish place. Their dirty upgrade on chips is pretty delicious. The waiting time was 10-15 min. The fish is not so awesome but fresh. I recommend visiting once if you are a fish lover

Cool location on the Schanze to eat fish in a different way. The food is recommended. The portions good. The staff was particularly friendly, attentive and quick. There are also delicious vegan alternatives. You can sit inside or in front of the underdocks.

Absolute recommendation and promises what all food influencers recommend. Very tasty mess and that can be taken literally. Unfortunately, the lobster roll, which was very tasty, is probably too wide to be served like the other rolls, which makes it incredibly difficult to eat and practically impossible to eat with your fingers. Their own iced tea and lemonade are also great.

We came based on a recommendation and I have to say that the taste was very good. The portions are good, I just couldn't get enough from one roll. Price-performance isn't that good here for me, not enough fish (grilled salmon roll) for the price. Ambiance and service were top!

Most of the food we had there during the several visits is amazing - I love the tacos, lobster roll, crayfish roll - delicious. Fish and chips - very good and veeery big portion. But fresh salmon roll is a big disappointment. It’s the only one that doesn’t have salad listed as an ingredient, so my partner who can’t stand salad ordered it. To our surprise it was mostly salad leaves and a few pieces of salmon. He couldn’t eat it. Please update the menu to show what it’s actually made of.

Great shop with very nice staff. The food is very tasty, the "standard" dishes can be pimped up to make them even more special. I thought the prices were totally okay. The only thing that bothered me was the people walking past when you're sitting outside, but you can also go in. Would come back any time!

Delicious “rolls”, but I don’t understand why you fill them so full that everything oozes out the sides and you can’t eat them with your hand. It worked with cutlery, but the Instagram factor seems to take precedence over handiness. The fact that I had to refuse the nightcap/schnapps offered three times does not make this restaurant a safe place for people with alcohol problems. 😅

Totally overrated store. Hardly any fish on the rolls and it was dry and cooked to death. The rest is cheap wheat rolls and industrial potatoes. This is decent pub food, nothing more. The service is rather snippy and uncouth (“the billing just sucks”). In the end we were also overcharged.

You're entering an unusual place that I really like. A menu centered around fish. I really loved the tacos, which were very balanced in terms of flavor (I recommend the jalapenos as an extra) and the sweet potato fries were delicious (ultra crispy). I highly recommend this restaurant.

I've been to Hamburg many times and eaten in many restaurants, but this is the first that doesn't rest on its laurels and still places value on quality and customer satisfaction. It's a place with several branches in different parts of Hamburg. We tried fish&chips and burger. Both were very delicious. The burger's sauce, bread and fish are compatible, but it's a little difficult to eat.

Very cool food court, especially the selection and dishes from Underdocks were very, very cool, we had a really great quick lunch with a fine softshell crab burger and crayfish rolls. Hammer!

In love with their sweet potato fries! It’s reaaally good!! It’s crispy but somehow tender as well.. well seasoned! Fried to perfection! We had it with truffle mayo dipping sauce, which was a great decision! Oh and their hotdogs (?) were tasty as well. We had the lax one (salmon) and the black tiger one. I like the black tiger one better.. the buns tho.. the buns win! It’s grilled to crispy but also soft and taste buttery and.. just good. But I’ll proly come again just for their sweet potato fries hahaha. And maybe try the fish and chips cause the fish looks really good in the picture. We came here around 6PM and was quickly seated, but when we left, we saw huge line.. soo, plan your visit maybe :). Anyhoo, overall really nice place with good food, nice and friendly service (they gave us a complimentary shot which was nice). Recommended!

I didn't think it was that good now. There was very little topping, sauce dominated everything and the rolls were very greasy and on top of that it was very stupid to eat. I wouldn't go there again.

Great! The “Fischbude” fits exactly into this place! Great service, no start-up problems at midday on Sunday at 12 p.m. The food was great, just right for a late riser on Sunday. All in all, actually too cheap for the portion. We look forward to next time!

The service was very friendly. The lobster roll was ok, didn't quite suit my taste but the lobster was well prepared and definitely worth the experience. The crunchy fried fish roll and the chips were very tasty.

Underdocks down near the bunker is really a place you can visit with friends or acquaintances from outside. The service there is really very good and in the best Hamburg temperature. The brothers and sisters there are open-hearted and super friendly. The food itself is very tasty and well made. Still only 3 stars because the price is really high considering the small quantity. I spent €15 on a few vegan fish fingers, which were very tasty but unfortunately far too little. Therefore 2 stars deducted for the food. The ambience is very nice, you just have to make sure that you get enough space as it is busy here. Otherwise, I'll stick with a total of 4 stars because it's a top shop that you can visit once in a while and shouldn't be a routine visit.

For fast food lovers… the fried shrimp dishes are the best. I am not that big a fan of fried foods but i would recommend to others.
