Food is super delicious, service is not great and location itself is getting old

There were two of us here, we are visiting from North Rhine-Westphalia, we haven't had such a bad meal in a long time and the portions are so overpriced. The food wasn't even seasoned and tasted absolutely nothing. The meat on my kebab plate was already cold and the portion size was absolutely not recommended for a 2 year old.

Frankly, it was good after the absence in Munich. Adana kebabs were nice. The kids loved the doner kebab, it was quite big and filling. The prices seemed a bit expensive, we also wanted to drink ayran. What we received was plain ayran without foam, but nice sparkling ayran was served to other tables, I honestly did not understand why this happened. We bought kunefe for dessert and we liked it very much. I deducted one star due to the differences in buttermilk and prices. I definitely recommend it.

The best Adana skewer in all of Mannheim can definitely be found at Ocakbasi on the market square! What also speaks for the restaurant is the fact that every dish is served with a salad, bread basket and, upon request, a tube of sauce. However, a star has to be deducted for the ambience. Unfortunately, people sit very close together in the restaurant and the background noise is also very loud.

The tables were very close to each other and our table was served through another table.

I ate Adana Kebab, I can only recommend it! It tastes great and the portion is sufficient.

Certainly one of the better restaurants in Mannheim for Turkish food! I've been coming here every now and then for many years and it's always full of people. That speaks volumes about the quality! The service is friendly and everything happens quite quickly.

I don't understand the negative reviews. There were 3 of us there today and it was great! The place was packed, but the service was still on point and we got our food in a reasonable time. The staff was friendly, the tables were clean and the food was great!!! The meat is buttery tender, the meze is very delicately seasoned. We are definitely coming, thanks to the whole team 🙌

The food tasted quite good, but unfortunately only cash payment was possible. Card payments should also be introduced slowly. The prices are not very cheap either.

Until a week ago I would probably have given it 5/5 stars because it has been my absolute favorite restaurant in Mannheim for years. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. 1) Mezze was no longer brought to the table like before 2) we were there during Ramadan last week and were the only guests (two of us) along with two other tables. Even after it was clear that we were finished, one of the employees stood around for minutes without clearing the completely full table. 3)We were not offered Çay after the meal 4) You couldn't pay with a card, but this wasn't stated ANYWHERE, it was only said when paying.. My highlight was the food poisoning that I got that same evening and caused me to vomit several times throughout the night until I couldn't stop. Since I hadn't eaten anything else that day except ice cream, which my companion also ate, it was clear that the poisoning came from the lamb meat (I had skewers). Unfortunately never again.

It was tasteless and saltless and has nothing to do with Ocakbaşı, and the employees are inexperienced and uninterested. It's not the place to go.

Craving for Turkish cuisine then Sofrasi is the place you should be at. They serve really good dishes made up of lamb, chicken. The staff was kind and friendly. Overall a good place, better price to portion position compared to surrounding restaurants. Must visit

I can't understand the reviews for the life of me. We were there today for breaking the fast, and our main course arrived just 30 minutes after iftar. The meat was dry, the kofte was overseasoned, and the fries were cold. The Mercimek soup was very watery, but at least it was the highlight of the flavor. The staff was extremely friendly. The price-performance ratio was still completely off. By the way, you can't pay by card, and you don't get tea after your meal... Today was our first and definitely our last time there. There are definitely better alternatives in the immediate area.

Our last visit was very bad We ordered Adana and meatball plate, first came Adana and 15 minutes later the meatballs arrived and the bulgur on the plate was cold as if it had just come out of the fridge.

Today I spontaneously looked for a place to have lunch for me and my 4-year-old daughter. My daughter really wanted to go to this restaurant and eat there (because it looks so nice). She was given her own menu and was looked after wonderfully by the waiters, no request was too crazy (there were fries AND rice with the lamb). We felt incredibly welcome and would love to come back. Both me and my daughter enjoyed it very much.

Four of us ate here on a weekday The staff was friendly and always quick and helpful, which we liked. However, the food was not appropriate for the price, we had lamb skewers three times and a dish with kebab meat once, as well as a number of paste starters. The starters were okay, the side salads were fresh but very small with a lemon dressing to drizzle over them. We were served white rice and bread for the main courses; it was only later that we noticed that the dressed bulgur was missing. The lamb dishes were very tasty, but the portion was relatively small. The kebab meat dish was sufficient, but the taste was unspectacular and not very seasoned. The restaurant itself was authentically decorated, it was clean, but a bit noisy. Overall we didn't think it was reasonable for the price and would try another restaurant next time.

Great service. Despite the full house, everything went smoothly and deliciously. Very friendly staff. Always my pleasure.

Not recommended. The staff was very inattentive to the customers, I received the wrong order twice, my companion tried to have better communication with the employee in Turkish but still made mistakes again and again.

Disappointing and Overpriced – Avoid This Place! I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I ordered the so-called Mixed Grill for 41 euros, expecting a generous and satisfying meal. Instead, what I received wasn’t even enough for one person! The portion was shockingly small, and it felt like a complete rip-off. The restaurant clearly overcharges for what they serve, and the value for money is non-existent. I left feeling betrayed and hungry. If you’re looking for a decent meal, run the other way! This place is nothing but an overpriced scam. Save your money and dine elsewhere.

Atmosphere is very good. Prices are expensive and the food is ok. Unfortunately, the kebab (Iskender) is made from minced meat, not meat. I was disappointed.

Unfortunately, our visit to Mannheim okacbasi was a big disappointment. Despite a confirmed reservation, we were not offered a place and the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. In addition, no one could speak German properly, which made communication extremely difficult. The service was unfriendly and disinterested - no apology, no suggestions for solutions. Something like this shouldn't happen in a restaurant. We ended up having to eat somewhere else. Absolutely not recommended! I even got a call back saying my reservation still existed. Despite everything, the man doesn't speak German and doesn't understand my request. In the end he tells me to wait until a table is free. Here is the proof of the call, see picture.

İçerde insanlara nasıl davrandılarsa insanlar çıkmak istedi beklemek sorunda değilsiniz gidin burda birsürü yer var diye inlara okadar saygısız bir şekilde konuştu bizde diğer birkaç ailede oradan ayrıldık. Bu kadar saygısız insanların oldugu bir yerde asla bundan sonra yemek yemem. Kimseyede asla önermiyorum.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The menu offers an excellent selection of authentic Turkish dishes that are simply unbeatable in terms of taste. The perfectly prepared meat dishes are a real highlight. The service is also top – friendly, attentive and always making sure that you feel completely comfortable. For me, this restaurant is clearly one of the best in Mannheim. Absolutely recommended!

I had Adana kebab. Meat was very good and tender. I visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. This meant it was very crowded and you had to wait outside the door. Unfortunately no card payment possible. Otherwise everything was great.

There were three of us here. The other two dishes were outstanding (İskender plate and kebab meat gratinated with cheese). My Beyti Kevap was ice cold. I complained and they responded immediately. My plate was remade but it was still cold in some places and only lukewarm in some places. No card payment possible. The waiters are very friendly and accommodating. I visited this turkish restaurant with some friends for dinner. Amongst others I had a side salad, shared dips and as a main a vegetarian pide. The food tasted very good overall. I especially liked their warm and fresh bread, which was served as a side. The taste when you stuff it with eggplant, dip and salad was excellent! The waiters were fast with their service and very friendly. I would return!

The place was good. Service was fast and waiters were welcoming. We found that the foods are quite oily. I had lahmacun but the oil was leaking on it.. my son like the köfte with cheese on it. They dont serve künefe as it is too busy.

Not recommended – value for money is absolutely not right In terms of taste, the food was okay, but anyone who charges €38 for a grilled plate where the pieces of meat are tiny and doesn't even fill you up is being absolutely outrageous. For this price you can get almost two grill plates in other restaurants. Given current inflation, some price increases may be understandable, but this is simply unacceptable. Unfortunately, I don't recommend it - the price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all.

An absolute highlight in Mannheim! We recently went to this fantastic restaurant in Mannheim with friends and are still loving it! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered, and the cozy atmosphere made the evening perfect. The food was simply sensational. Every bite was a pleasure and you can taste how much love and care goes into cooking here. Particularly noteworthy are the fresh ingredients - a real taste experience! Our friends are still raving about how good it was. The service was also excellent: attentive, friendly and always with a smile. There was also a great selection of wines that went perfectly with the food. A real gem in the middle of Mannheim – we will definitely be back!
