Good afternoon, dear Saro team, Thank you for your feedback on our revised rating. We would like to comment on this. A review is always a snapshot of the actual service experienced. Therefore, a rating can and must be revised downwards if the quality is no longer up to scratch on a subsequent visit. This is neither unfair nor unreasonable, but rather serves to ensure transparency for other guests – the purpose of this review platform. For context: When the new owners took over, the RGA emphasized that the team would remain essentially the same. This is precisely why we returned with the same high expectations. However, even on our first visit after the change, we discovered that the food tasted significantly different and the quality did not match its previous level. Our revised rating refers exclusively to this specific experience at the table – not to internal personnel decisions. At most, mentioning a change in chef explains the observed difference in quality; the sole reason for the downgrade is the negative taste experience. In the end, what matters to the guest is what's on their plate. If the quality noticeably declines, adjusting the rating is logical. It's equally natural to raise a rating later when the standard is back up. And: If the head chef leaves immediately after a change of ownership, it's also our duty as guests to inform other visitors. We look forward to a return visit and hope that the quality will be back up to scratch. Old review from 2024: It tasted fantastic. We had Caprese, vitello tonnato, and focaccia as starters, followed by two beef fillets with salad, fresh vegetables, and rosemary nuggets. The beef fillet, like all the other ingredients, was of excellent quality, cooked to perfection (sous-vide?) and didn't bleed on the plate. The service was also very attentive and knowledgeable—the guests are truly pampered. Thank you, dear Saro team, you are excellent hosts!

I had the Tortellini Ricotta Spinaci. They were very tasty. However, the portion was very, very small. It's really just an appetizer, and at €16.90, it was too expensive. A 0.5l wheat beer is also on the high side at €6. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo.

Trattoria Saro is a cozy Italian restaurant located in the charming old town of Lennep. A few tables outside and a warm atmosphere make the place have a lot of potential. The service deserves special mention – very polite and helpful, which definitely affects the positive impression. Unfortunately, when it comes to the food, I have mixed feelings. The pizza Margherita was disappointing – soft, undercooked and practically tasteless. I expected more from Italian cuisine, even if served outside Italy. The pasta Carbonara was also more like a German interpretation than a classic Italian dish – it lacked the characteristic depth of flavor. The tiramisu was also nothing special – average, like from a ready-made set. To sum up – nice atmosphere and great service, but the cuisine unfortunately did not live up to expectations. I hope that the quality of the dishes will improve over time, because the place really has a lot of potential.

We were there for the second time, after the pizza was world class the first time. salami pizza with spicy salami. The second time the pizza was completely without salt. didn't taste good at all. I told the service that the dough had zero salt. It has been noted and briefly heard how this information arrived at the pizza baker. Zack, that was it. Wie sind schon sehr oft da gewesen um einen netten italienischen Abend zu verbringen. Zum Valentinstag gibt es eine Rose für die Dame. Die Speisekarte bietet für jeden etwas und zusätzlich immer Tagesgerichte, die auf einer Schiefertafel angeboten werden. Der Service ist toll und der Primitivo, direkt aus der Flasche am Tisch ausgeschenkt, ein Gaumengenuss. Wir bestellen fast immer Pizza, die gut belegt ist und einen knusprigen Teig hat. Vorspeisenteller auch schon ausprobiert, aber wir finden ihn etwas zu teuer. Sonst aber volle Zufriedenheit, auch weil wir immer einen schönen Tisch bekommen. Ate 2 pizzas at Saro last Sunday and were not happy because the pizza was completely tasteless... the only thing that worked was garlic... We also shared this with the waitress who wanted to pass it on? I don't want to open a barrel here or say something bad, but after I wrote a review I was insulted in the worst possible way... That's not how it works, dear operator!!!

Our pizzas were large, but had hardly any taste, very bland. Only the delicious garlic oil served gave the pizza some spice 🍕. Your owner informed us of our negative review answered a lie and said we didn't say goodbye. We both said goodbye loud enough and we were also answered with goodbye. We didn't finish the pizza completely and initially wanted to return it. The service was friendly, but the owner doesn't accept negative criticism and responds with lies! He did not respond to positive reviews. If you ask me if I liked it then I also give an honest answer, and in a friendly way! The owner could have come to our table and then we would have refrained from giving a negative review! For your money you can ask for a 🍕 that also tastes like pizza. I'm a good cook myself. The boss has my partner with his answer insulted and accused us of “malice” and being uneducated. We even gave a tip, but only 0.50 euros because we weren't satisfied.

Tolle Antipasti, wirklich gute Pizzen, aber auch fantastische Gerichte. Meine Linguine mit Meeresfrüchten war ausgezeichnet. Dazu eine aufmerksame Bedienung und immer wieder der Blick vom Koch aus der Küche, ob es einem auch schmeckt. Wir kommen auf jedem Fall wieder.

After a very friendly welcome, the daily recommendations written on a blackboard were presented to us. We chose spaghetti aglio e olio and veal schnitzel Milanese. Both dishes were excellent... the spaghetti had just the right amount of spiciness, the garlic was lightly roasted and the overly large schnitzel had a crispy, spicy breading. The ambience corresponded to the lively, loud hustle and bustle of a large Italian family.

The food was good, quality. When it came to the starter, however, one had the impression that it had been frozen. May be critical with tuna. The grappa was diluted with water. Restaurant isn't exactly cheap either.

The homemade noodles were a complete disgrace. Tiny plate with 6 or 7 noodles. Taste ok, nothing special. But I wasn't nearly full. And that for 20 euros on the day ticket..

A very nice restaurant in the middle of the city center. (Parking wasn't easy). The waiting times were completely ok. and the food was very good. The only regret was that there was no more space after the pasta, the pizzas also looked very good. If I come here again, I'd be happy to do so again!

Das Essen war gut, mein Dessert war sehr lieblos angerichtet. Das hatte ich vor 14 Tagen sehr schön angerichtet in einen anderen italienischen Restaurant, auch mit frischen Beeren und Sahne und Minze. Das für 5.90 € im anderen Lokal. Das Restaurant ist sehr voll gestopft mit Tischen, deshalb war die Akustik wie in einer Bahnhofsvorhalle.

Ich gönne es dem Team aber von Herzen denn wenn ein Laden so nett, freundlich und gut ist sollte er immer ausgebucht sein. Macht weiter so.

We können die grobe Kritik von anderen nur bestaunen und die guten Rezensionen nur bestärken! Wir waren schon öfter im SARO und fühlen uns immer sehr wohl. Die Pizza ist immer lecker und knusprig (und übrigens von einem original italienischen Pizzabäcker zubereitet😉) , die übrigens Gerichte ebenfalls lecker zubereitet. Am liebsten bestelle ich alles was die Tageskarte so hergibt. Wenn es schon mal gedauert hat mit dem Essen, wurde sich mit einem Absacker aufs Haus „entschuldigt“, das kam bisher aber kaum vor. Der Inhaber und die Kellner sind sehr bemüht und höflich und nie um einen Spaß verlegen. Das SARO ist ein top restaurant!!

Geschmacklos war die Pizza Quattro Stagioni wie auch die sexistischen Tischsets. Desinteressiert war die Bedienung, die nach einer Stunde Wartezeit immer noch nicht mitteilte, wann wir mit dem Essen rechnen könnten. Das war die gleiche Erfahrung wie schon vor einem Jahr. Wir sind hier nur gewesen, weil alle anderen Restaurants in Lennep schon voll waren. Das war's dann auch für uns.

Ich habe noch nie zuvor so einen leckeren Salat gegessen! Dieser war auch sehr schön eingerichtet, mit Rinderstreifen, die butterzart waren. Leider habe ich kein Foto davon gemacht. Es ist ein wenig eng dort, der Service ist einfach toll und der Besuch lohnt sich allemal! Weiter so. Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Das Restaurant ist klassisch italienisch und in der Altstadt von Lennep. Gemütliche Atmosphäre in einem Überschaubaren Raum. Es war gut besucht. Der Service was Klasse und die Stimmungen war sehr angenehm. Das Essen war gut. Die Linguini Vongole waren gut, für meinen Geschmack hat irgendetwas gefehlt, trotzdem hat es geschmeckt. Mein Highlight war das Dessert (die Cassata) als Eis nicht als Kuchen . Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

Mein Steak war auf den Punkt gegart und Beilagen topp. Zum Abschluss leckeres Pistatieneis. Vielen Dank an Chef und Team. Es war für uns ein großartiger Abschluss des Tages.
