I found the food to be a disaster. Only large meat portions with fries and other dishes only with animal corpse parts. Sustainability and healthy and delicious food can be done differently. Too bad. Service is so great and so is the ambience, but what use is it when the only food on the plate is inferior quality and at horrendous prices (a baked potato with three shrimps for €20). 🥴

Good service, delicious Altbier, schnitzel was good

The restaurant “Tonhalle” is good, quite cozy and has plenty of seats. The selection of dishes is sufficient, and there is always a daily menu, the dishes are delicious and the plates are generously filled! I had to complain about the fresh chanterelles on tagliatelle - it was very crunchy, the chanterelles were poorly cleaned and quite sandy! The service could be better despite there being enough staff, we waited a long time for our drink orders and even longer to pay! Otherwise: you can visit...

We were there on Mother's Day this year, my parents, my son and I. It was a normal day, the restaurant wasn't overcrowded and we were able to easily choose a table ourselves - before it was said that it was exceptionally busy. We didn't order anything special, schnitzel and fish fingers for the little one. Guests who arrived 20 and 30 minutes after us received their food within 10 to 15 minutes, knuckle and all. When I asked the waiter in a friendly manner, he noticed that something wasn't going well. Another 20 minutes passed, so we stopped after 55 minutes of total waiting. The argument was at the end, which is ridiculous, that it wasn't a standard order. I like to remind you that we are talking about schnitzel and a few fish fingers. Captain Iglo was probably not on the bridge and could not deliver the order. Not a word of apology either! I felt sorry for the little one, who is hungry, but also angry that a sunny Mother's Day was ruined - at least for us. Thank you very much for nothing!

A good place for a glass of Riesling. Food is standard Brauhaus fare, well executed. Staff are friendly.

Good bright interior, lots of space and friendly staff. Outside seating in front and behind the restaurant. Plenty of portions on the plate. The knuckle was very large and super crispy, thumbs up.

Came for lunch, the service was good and we didn't have a chance to try the Grillenschweinhaxen as it required at least 30 mins waiting time. We ordered cooked knuckles instead and it was also good

The service is super friendly and with a typical Düsseldorf attitude, which is positive for my taste. All 4 dishes came quickly, were sufficient and tasty

Cozy beer garden in Kaiserswerth, within walking distance of the Rhine, the restaurant is located approximately halfway between the local hospital and the Rhine. You can sit inside and outside, as the weather offered it, I sat outside and ordered a Füchsen Alt and a schnitzel with fresh chanterelles (daily special). The order was nicely presented and appropriately sized for the price, and best of all...it was also very tasty. Almost a whimsical dream. Clearly recommended.

We had lunch there on Sunday. Good selection, very tasty and filling. Our waiter Resa served us extremely friendly, diligently and very well. A good restaurant in beautiful Kaiserswerth, highly recommended.

Good food. The service is not particularly fast

After years I had a good home-style meal again and what can I say, the food was perfect! The Tonhalle was impressive on the first visit and the in-laws were also impressed a day later! New regular customer when it comes to a beautiful location and good food!!!

I had a salad with goat cheese that tasted very good. However, the interiors are very loud when other guests are there and talking at a normal volume. The restaurant has a spacious rear seating area covered with umbrellas.

Der Service war befriedigend, leider nicht mehr. Auf die Anfrage bzgl. des Essens ergab sich keine Antwort. Das Paprika Gulasch war stark fettig und sehnig. Kein Eigengeschmack. Die Rösti Beilage war fertig gekauft und in die Friteuse geworfen worden. Beim Matjes waren 2Scheiben Schwarzbrot mit 3 Matjeshälften versehen- für über 15 Euro teurer bemessen. Im netten Kaiserswerth hatte man das Gefühl „Tourinepp“- Schade! Leider aufgrund der Küche nicht mehr als mangelhaft möglich. Zum reinen Bier trinken aber gut.

Wir hatten noch gar nicht bestellt, als der Kellner uns zwei Cola brachte, die für einen anderen Tisch bestimmt war. Auch unsere zwei bestellten Essen wurden an einen anderen Tisch gebracht und dort belassen, bis das korrekte Essen diesen Gästen gebracht wurde. Dann nahm die Kellnerin einen dieser Teller und brachte ihn mir, obwohl dieser eine geraume Zeit bei einem anderen Gast stand. Nicht sehr hygienisch. Eine unnötige Diskussion, weil ich dieses Essen nicht mehr haben wollte. Kein Umgang mit Gästen und man macht sich so seine Gedanken, wie ansonsten der Umgang mit Lebensmitteln dort ist,

Great food, friendly service but sometimes a bit disorganized. Update July 2024, after four stars two years ago, now unfortunately only one. Absolute low point in terms of service. I realize that it is very difficult to recruit staff for the restaurant, but I don't spend my money on that.

Four of us had a drink there today. The cola I ordered came in a 0.2 bottle and some of it was poured into a glass. After serving, I noticed lipstick on my glass, which I immediately complained to the waiter. He took the glass with him and a short time later brought me a new glass with the same cola. So I decided to drink the rest of my cola from the bottle and leave the glass standing. Furthermore, after this incident we decided to pay immediately. During the payment process I mentioned that it probably wouldn't be right to simply pour the Coke from a dirty glass into a clean glass and serve it. Unfortunately, the waiter had no understanding whatsoever because the glass was only dirty on the outside and what should he do now? After all, I would have drunk the rest of the Coke straight from the bottle and would he now have to pay for the Coke himself? Simply an absolutely unprofessional reaction from the waiter and a total NO GO. Tonhalle Kaiserswerth a second time? No thanks.

Very friendly staff. You immediately feel comfortable. Can be used in any weather thanks to the covered outdoor dining area. The menu is not overloaded, prices are moderate, service is very fast. Rating: highly recommended.

TO FLEE! I had dinner on the terrace with 2 colleagues on a Friday evening. Restaurant serving typical German dishes. 3 vegetarian/vegan meal options including I wanted to order a Kohlrabi Schnitzel; there were no more. So out of spite I opted for the pasta with Bolognese sauce (not homemade), which was nothing exceptional. At the end of the meal we shared a (small) portion of Apfelstrudel which was nevertheless good. We were on the terrace where a Euro match was being broadcast, it was raining and cold. So I asked for a blanket from the waiter who replied curtly “no, no blanket, we don’t sleep here”. Finally comes the bill, the waiter asks us our nationality (I would point out, however, that I communicated with him in German), we respond by paying and then they ask us very aggressively “so where is the tip?! We don’t give tips in your countries?!” No, clearly in my country in France I don't give a tip to odious characters like that.

Overall a good grade. Friendly service and good food.

Great typical German restaurant, with a large outdoor area and tables inside. Very well located, easy to get to by train from the center of Düsseldorf and also great for a walk around the surroundings and in the quiet neighborhood. Also easy access for those coming by car. Prices cheaper than in the Altstadt. Well served portions. Great drinks.

Very friendly service from the waiter with a suitable white wine recommendation for the meal. Gladly again.

Excellent service, the manager pulled the trigger for 5 stars. The shank is crispy, it looks great but the meat is dry, but you have a braised shank that is great. Salad good, Jager Art steak excellent, Wiener Art steak too. Argentinian rump steak is mediocre and quite expensive. Classic good draft beer. Overall recommendation for the restaurant. When the end of the working hours approaches, expect the not-so-pleasant comments from the waiters that the working hours are ending and they bring everything in front of you. Asparagus soup is solid, floury with a little milk but nicely seasoned. Dessert cheesecake solid and apple pie fantastic. Goulash good but nothing special.

Nice restaurant with fox in the bar. Nice terrace, it's right next to the tram but it's hardly noticeable. You can do it often and with the right waiter (we had that) it's also fun.

A wonderful place in Kaiserswerth, with the same quality at reasonable prices, with good service. Always worth a visit.

So I've been to the Tonhalle twice now with my girlfriend and the first time she wanted to order a red wine and the waiter said that red wine wasn't for women, after a back and forth she got the red wine and such a miracle, she liked this one!! To the waiter's surprise, a second one was even ordered. The second time my girlfriend ordered a non-alcoholic beer and I ordered a soft drink, the same waiter served us again and when he wanted to put the soft drink in front of her, we told him that she would get the beer and he didn't understand that at all, as if it were an unimaginable thing that a woman drinks a beer... At the table next to me I noticed that there was also a couple sitting there, where he ordered a cola and she an Altbier, this couple also got their order backwards, he the beer and she the soft drink. Conclusion: I think the waiter doesn't understand that women also drink beer and wines other than white wine and rosé. In any case, we think it's sexist and don't understand why a woman can't order what she wants?!?!? His job is to take the order and do it without comment...

Very cozy German restaurant. We had dinner here after our holiday from Dusseldorf airport. Great cordon bleu, large and well filled. Keep it up!

Never again !!!!! Rubber fries, lukewarm already warmed up three times (?) Dry schnitzel warmed up from the freezer (?) The waiter's comments stupid, cheeky and unnecessary...!

Today we were here for the second time in 14 days with a hiking group. With 17 + 11 hikers. There are 2 beautiful outdoor areas. The waiters were simply great. Great service. The lunch was also delicious. Always my pleasure

After a long time I was back in the Tonhalle. A very nice evening! The food - fresh fried liver Berlin style, with mashed potatoes - was very tasty! The atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. I would like to come back very soon!

Mediocre brewery. If ABB is on the mustard pot, ABB should be in it and not just any mustard from the metro. Old is perfect, pork knuckle, cabbage and mashed potatoes from the convection oven could be hotter. Recommendation yes but not a culinary delight.

Delicious Boltenalt and knuckle

Actually a nice restaurant, unfortunately our kale was only lukewarm, when we pointed it out the waiter just said "it's usually hot". The prices for convenience food are absolutely exorbitant: charging almost €16 for a simple tarte flambée is simply outrageous, the ingredients only make up a fraction of the price.

Food is good, service is mixed. Sometimes the service is good and other times it's a disaster. Ambience very nice in summer.

Great knuckle with purree and sauerkraut. Crispy and well done on the inside. Tip top service.

We like to come there to enjoy a glass of wine on the heated terrace in the evening. Typical brewery atmosphere with a corresponding menu. The service is always very attentive and people sometimes joke with regular guests. You feel very comfortable here. Thank you

A really great evening! We had the pike perch fillet and the baked potato with quark. As well as the apple strudel with vanilla sauce. We both thought the food was delicious! This was only exceeded by the service from the staff. Rarely have I met such friendly and accommodating people. In addition, the climate in the restaurant was very nice and clean. We definitely want to come back and thank you for the lovely evening!

Can-do-spirit‘, any one, at any time. Absolute prime time, peak season, so having dinner just a few days prior to X-mas eve lowers expectations, but: surprise, surprise, ‚Team Tonhalle‘ delivered. Super friendly, alert/attentive, flexible, polite staff, plus a chef behind the scenes mastering the oven? Very much so! Fully booked, yet not crowded, and still, they manage the spot in a very calm and kind manner. Thank you, carry on - I’m looking forward to returning. Just a side note: Gulasch Alt made my day, too ;)

Tolle Mitarbeiter, klasse Service

Tut mir leid Absolut nicht zu empfehlen Man bestellt Fisch ( Zander) bekommt die grösse von 2 Fischstäbchen dafür aber eine Menge Bratkartoffeln ( klar ,Kartoffeln sind billig) Und das ganze für fast 23 Euro Also 23 € für Bratkartoffeln Kalte Räume Bedienung super frech, diskutiert mit dem Gäste und es sollt nur so bestellt wie der Kellner möchte Unglaublich Nie wieder hin 👎👎👎👎👎👎

Service und Ambiente war sehr gut. Über das Essen kann ich keine Aussage machen. Nur soviel, dass sehr viele Gäste dort zu Mittag gegessen haben.

Die Atmosphäre war der ganzen Abend über sehr gut und die Bedienung freundlich. Hinterher gab es Streit eine Unstimmigkeit gemütlich des Trinkgeldes. Die Freundlichkeit der Bedienung war schlagartig verloren. Gäste bei rausgehen zu beschimpfen mit Worten, die ich hier nicht wiederholen, gehört sich gar nicht!!!!!!

Das Gänseessen war ein gelungener Abend.

Wir hatten in der Tonhalle ein wunderbares Gänsemenue. Verteilt auf drei Gänge, alles sehr lecker zubereitet und alle Beilagen in unbegrenzter Menge. Es war ein schöner und festlicher Abend. Vielen Dank! Wenn überhaupt, dann könnte die Lautstärke im Gastraum als Kritik angebracht werden, aber das ist Meckern auf hohem Niveau.

Leider stand unser 4 Personen Tisch unmittelbar neben zwei Tischen für grosse Gruppen. Dadurch war eine Unterhaltung unmöglich. Die Gänsekeule war ganz hervorragend.

Leckeres Essen in gepflegter Atmosphäre.

Waren zum Gänseessen da 😋😋, sehr lecker und reichlich - Knödel, Rotkohl und Soße konnte man nachbestellen. Der Tisch war schön gedeckt, der Kellner war sehr sympathisch und der Service top!! Und wer über den Preis schimpft soll sie mal selber kaufen und auch zubereiten.

Spitzenmässiger Kellner Lecker Altbier Nette Gäste

Ein sehr schönes altes Haus ich kenne dieses Gasthaus fast 70 Jahre und habe als kleiner Junge auf der Kegelbahn Kegel aufgesetzt und ein kleines Taschengeld gemacht

Wir haben hier eine leckere Haxe und ein Schnitzel gegessen. Die Qualität der Speisen ist gut. Die Zutaten sind frisch, dass schmeckt man und das soll bitte auch so bleiben. Lediglich an den Pommes könnte man sicher durch einfach Maßnahmen deutliche Verbesserungen bewirken. Wir fanden den Service nett und kommen gerne wieder.

Erstmaliger Besuch dort. Es scheint ein angesagtes Lokal zu sein, auch prominente Gäste. Wir fanden es gab ein gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Bürgerliche Speisen, in meinem Fall, Sauerbraten, Rotkohl, Klöse und Apfelmus. Sehr lecker, große Portion Fleisch, schmackhaft. Die Bedienung, freundlich, ließ sich aber Zeit. Wir sagen Danke und kommen sicher wieder!

Das Essen war top und unser Kellner zumindest für den Tag an dem ich dort war, war mega nett. Leider hatten wir einen Tisch ganz außen, was wahrscheinlich an der Personenzahl lag, es war schon ziemlich laut da halt ständig die Leute vorbeigehen. Es liegt halt auch genau an einer Haltestelle.....aber trotz allem war es ein schöner Nachmittag 😃

Nie mehr. Man hat mich so derartig über die Leisten gezogen. Für mein Essen und zwei Getränke wollte der Kellner 30 Euro haben. Das Essen kostete 15.90. Man hat sich selber ein gutes Trinkgeld zugeteilt. Ich weiss warum ich diesen Laden nie besuchen wollte.

Wie immer super Service und gutes Essen. Kein Haute Cusine, aber ehrlich. Hatte gestern Königsberger Klopse(immer Donnerstags). Gut gewürzt, mit Kapern and allem was dazugehört, vor allem ein leckeres Altbier. Daanke und gerne wieder...

Köbes etwas forsch. Muss man mögen. Wenn man es nicht mag, sollte ein Profi die Schallplattenseite drehen.

Eine wirklich krosse Haxe mit Kartoffelpüree und Sauerkraut - hervorragend. Die nötige halbe Stunde Wartezeit lässt sich leicht mit dem hauseigenen Gulasch Alt überbrücken. Auch die Schweineleber von der Mittagskarte ist zu loben. Wir kommen sicher wieder! Was fehlt: eine Behindertentoilette im Erdgeschoss; die Toilette ist über 20 unebene Stufen und einen langen Weg im Keller zu erreichen.

Ein sehr gemütliches Restaurant mit gutem Essen. Ein schöner Biergarten, der selbst bei etwas kühleren Temperaturen zum Entspannen und einen leckeren Umtrunk einlädt. Gerne wieder

Unmögliche Bedienung . Eine solche Aroganz und miese Bedienung hatten wir lange nicht . Wir werden nicht mehr wiederkommen . Es gibt genug andere Lokale hier .

Sehr nett und auch total kinderfreundlich und hilfsbereit. Man hat mir sofort einen schönen Platz gesucht, der mit Buggy auch komfortabel ist. Sehr nette Bedienung. Immer einen netten und witzigen Spruch auf Lager. Essen war mega lecker!!!! Volle 5 Sterne verdient!

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 25 Personen dort sonntags zum Mittagessen. Freundliches und aufmerksames Personal, das Essen war sehr gut.

Ok, das Essen war soweit in Ordnung - was soll man auch bei einem Salat mit einem Stück Putenbrust (convenience) verkehrt machen. Das Ambiente insgesamt gelungen, bis auf ein paar unschöne Vorkommnisse: Der Köbes mit dem Enthusiasmus eines brasilianischen Kaffeesackträgers telefoniert mit seinem Handy lautstark vor seinen Gästen auf der Terrasse und lässt somit jeden der es hören will und muss an seinem Telefonat unfreiwillig teilnehmen. Ob der Ton am Ende dem eines seriösen Brauhauskellners entspricht mag jeder selbst beurteilen. Das während des Essens ohrenbetäubender Lärm die Stimmung trübt, weil ein an der Wand befestigter Schaukasten klirrend und polternd zu Boden fällt, macht es auch nicht besser. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis für heutige Verhältnisse angepasst und dennoch teilweise arg überzogen: Eine Flasche Mineralwasser (0,75 l) für 7,80 € lasse ich besser unkommentiert.

Ganz nett. Gute Anbindung zum öffentlichen Nahverkehr.

Waren mit unserem Besuch an einem Freitag gegen 18h dort. Der Kellner drängte auf eine schnelle Bestellung da er wohl mit Andrang rechnete. Er war mäßig freundlich und stand mit klickendem Kugelschreiber in ca.3m Entfernung, sehr nervig. Das Essen war gut, nichts Besonderes.

Das Schnitzel war vermutlich aus dem TK und die Pommes waren zu lange frittiert. Das Mousse o Chocolate war zu weich und sah dadurch nicht sehr appetitlich aus auf dem Teller. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Stühle im Biergarten fand ich eher unbequem.
