A very nice restaurant with a beautiful meeting room in the basement. When I was there, it was over 30 degrees outside, but in the basement it was a relaxed 23 degrees, which I found very pleasant. The food was delicious, and there was something for every taste.

Discovered this bistro-style restaurant during my visit to the Schloss Kalkum area. Really good meal and delicious apple pie. I recommend this restaurant if you are visiting the Kaiserswerth area, it is immediately outside the U79 metro station if you are arriving from the city.

They actually still serve delicious, affordable, home-style cooking. I treated myself to a portion of pointed cabbage with sausage, potatoes, and a beer from the weekly specials. The tram rumbles by outside, and the street is just beyond, but overall it's quite pleasant, and the service is very attentive.

Very friendly restaurant with a small, quiet beer garden and a slightly noisier seating area on the street side. We had a delicious salad and a Füchschen-Alt beer. A good place to stop in Kaiserswerth.

I've lived in Düsseldorf for 40 years and have always admired this restaurant in Kaiserswerth. Last weekend, I finally went there for dinner with my Culture and Castles Association. Unfortunately, the waiter insulted me in a very inappropriate and racist manner when I asked for Schumacher beer. I was shocked and disappointed. I was so looking forward to the evening and didn't want to ruin it, but this behavior was disrespectful and discriminatory. I haven't received an apology to this day. I sincerely hope that management takes this behavior seriously. For me, it was an absolute zero.

Completely incomprehensible how I was treated here. I was actually thrown off the premises – just because I was wearing shorts. The absurd justification: They were supposedly swimming trunks. It was about 10 degrees Celsius outside, and I was also wearing a thick hoodie. Going swimming seems to have a very specific definition in Düsseldorf – at least around the Tonhalle. The shorts were clearly recognizable as such, but instead of reacting with a bit of common sense or at least a hint of politeness, I was rudely thrown out. This behavior is disrespectful, arrogant, and simply wrong. Customer friendliness seems to be a foreign concept here. Anyone who treats their guests like this shouldn't be surprised by the corresponding reviews – I certainly won't be coming back.

A real "restaurant": good location, attentive service ("a large group is coming soon, do you want to order something first?"), cold beer and delicious gypsy schnitzel (sic!), a really great evening, and not just because of the good conversations🥳

No recommendation. The waiters listless and arrogant. Waited 15 minutes for the drinks, beer without foam and stale. It was not possible to order food because the waiters either intentionally overlooked the hand signals several times or did not respond when spoken to. They don't see me here anymore, but they probably don't need to.

On our bike tour we (6 people) were able to try out this wonderful outdoor restaurant. When the weather was beautiful, we were able to get a table in the sun. Since we were all hungry, we decided to each order something different from the menu so we could try out the cuisine. Everyone was completely satisfied. Short waiting time, very friendly service and value for money. We'll be back. Is recommended.

Bavarian ambience with Bavarian warmth

Delicious German traditional cuisine. I was there for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it.

We haven't eaten so well in a long time. Price ok. For two main courses and two drinks 46 euros.

I've been here many times for good food and a good beer.

Eight of us had reserved a table for Saturday evening. Food was very tasty and came in very decent portions (there was a lot left over). Super friendly, courteous and funny service. The overall price was certainly not low, but it was acceptable compared to other locations and the overall increased price ratio. I might deduct half a star because at one point the room we were sitting in got pretty overheated and we couldn't open the window. But overall we all felt so comfortable there, had such a delicious meal and had so much fun... so be it. Full marks!

We always come to Kaiserswerth to visit friends and enjoy coming here. The service is consistently very friendly and open-minded, with a lot of humor and charm. The food is always very tasty and a huge portion that I can hardly manage. Schnitzel Viennese and salad, Jägerschnitzel, and pork knuckle are our favorites. The eggplant roulade had a little bit of eggplant casing, but tasted good. The restaurant is no longer the newest but clean and very cozy. Always my pleasure! Thank you!

Really great, originals as you wish

The kale we ordered came within 2 minutes of ordering. It was already partly hard on the surface from having been warmed up several times in the microwave, but underneath it was extremely hot. The “Mettwurst” looked more like a bockwurst in color, and its interior was similar - pale pink to grayish. The fact that the kale hardly had any taste of its own inevitably makes me think of a finished product - €16.90. The Füchsen Alt didn't taste fresh, but rather clearly stale. When the waiter asked how I liked the food and I politely told him my criticism, he immediately went into attack mode: That couldn't be right! I also had no idea what kale was supposed to be like, namely “not fresh!” Another table also ate the kale. I'll spare myself a description of the sad, crumbling lettuce next to me. The fried potatoes, on the other hand, looked okay. I can only recommend this restaurant for diehards. The home-style restaurant at Kaiserswerther Markt, 200m away, is far better - and even cheaper. Unfortunately my last visit here.

While looking for a suitable location for a celebration with family and friends, we found the Tonhalle. We were shown all the rooms and explained to us all the options. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we decided to “test” the food, we were completely convinced that we had found the right setting. Thank you.

Empecemos con lo que no es el Tonhalle. No es un proveedor de cocina nouvelle ni pretende prestar un servicio inmaculado o mantenerse en la tradición de Brigade de cuisine. Habiendo quitado eso de en medio, el Tonhalle sí ofrece nosh y vino alemán de primera calidad a aquellos que deseen disfrutar o saber más sobre él. Nadie sale de aquí con hambre. Nadie se tambalea a casa sin un resorte en su paso.

Clocky inn with good farm food.

We were there for the traditional goose dinner and really enjoyed it. Very good service, rustic atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. Red cabbage and dumplings could be had as second helpings upon request. We can recommend the Tonhalle!

Non è la prima volta che ci fermiamo a mangiare in questo locale: menù alla carta più menù del giorno, tutto all'insegna della cucina tipica tedesca. Naturalmente birra Alt alla spina. Una certezza.

The food was very tasty BUT Unfortunately, it came very, very late because it seemed too complicated for us to eat with just under 10 people. All (about 7) tables of two received their orders sooner, even though some of them arrived well after us. Such delays (approx. 40 minutes) are not okay, especially with children.

The service staff is very quick and courteous, the store is located directly at the Düsseldorf Klemensplatz subway stop. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing, the salad was too salty, the meat was tough and it seemed that the food was unfortunately of low quality.

Overpriced food from the deep fryer / pure fat. Convenience sauce and Jägerschnitzel. Side salad with dried cucumber slices. Cold fried potatoes also convenience with thin breaded pieces of liver (also deep fried). No sauce. With 2 beers over 52 €. Service rough. Unadorned guest room. Thank you never again.

Good, tasty food with friendly staff in a pleasant atmosphere

We always feel very comfortable in the Tonhalle. The food is very good and available at fair prices. What always stands out positively is the service. So far we have only ever had exceptionally good service staff who know a thing or two about the subject matter and are always obliging and have a relaxed attitude on their lips. The only thing that would be really good now is mustard from Düsseldorf in the pot.

I found the food to be a disaster. Only large meat portions with fries and other dishes only with animal corpse parts. Sustainability and healthy and delicious food can be done differently. Too bad. Service is so great and so is the ambience, but what use is it when the only food on the plate is inferior quality and at horrendous prices (a baked potato with three shrimps for €20). 🥴

The restaurant “Tonhalle” is good, quite cozy and has plenty of seats. The selection of dishes is sufficient, and there is always a daily menu, the dishes are delicious and the plates are generously filled! I had to complain about the fresh chanterelles on tagliatelle - it was very crunchy, the chanterelles were poorly cleaned and quite sandy! The service could be better despite there being enough staff, we waited a long time for our drink orders and even longer to pay! Otherwise: you can visit...

We were there on Mother's Day this year, my parents, my son and I. It was a normal day, the restaurant wasn't overcrowded and we were able to easily choose a table ourselves - before it was said that it was exceptionally busy. We didn't order anything special, schnitzel and fish fingers for the little one. Guests who arrived 20 and 30 minutes after us received their food within 10 to 15 minutes, knuckle and all. When I asked the waiter in a friendly manner, he noticed that something wasn't going well. Another 20 minutes passed, so we stopped after 55 minutes of total waiting. The argument was at the end, which is ridiculous, that it wasn't a standard order. I like to remind you that we are talking about schnitzel and a few fish fingers. Captain Iglo was probably not on the bridge and could not deliver the order. Not a word of apology either! I felt sorry for the little one, who is hungry, but also angry that a sunny Mother's Day was ruined - at least for us. Thank you very much for nothing!

A good place for a glass of Riesling. Food is standard Brauhaus fare, well executed. Staff are friendly.

Good bright interior, lots of space and friendly staff. Outside seating in front and behind the restaurant. Plenty of portions on the plate. The knuckle was very large and super crispy, thumbs up.

Came for lunch, the service was good and we didn't have a chance to try the Grillenschweinhaxen as it required at least 30 mins waiting time. We ordered cooked knuckles instead and it was also good

Cozy beer garden in Kaiserswerth, within walking distance of the Rhine, the restaurant is located approximately halfway between the local hospital and the Rhine. You can sit inside and outside, as the weather offered it, I sat outside and ordered a Füchsen Alt and a schnitzel with fresh chanterelles (daily special). The order was nicely presented and appropriately sized for the price, and best of all...it was also very tasty. Almost a whimsical dream. Clearly recommended.

We had lunch there on Sunday. Good selection, very tasty and filling. Our waiter Resa served us extremely friendly, diligently and very well. A good restaurant in beautiful Kaiserswerth, highly recommended.

After years I had a good home-style meal again and what can I say, the food was perfect! The Tonhalle was impressive on the first visit and the in-laws were also impressed a day later! New regular customer when it comes to a beautiful location and good food!!!

I had a salad with goat cheese that tasted very good. However, the interiors are very loud when other guests are there and talking at a normal volume. The restaurant has a spacious rear seating area covered with umbrellas.

Der Service war befriedigend, leider nicht mehr. Auf die Anfrage bzgl. des Essens ergab sich keine Antwort. Das Paprika Gulasch war stark fettig und sehnig. Kein Eigengeschmack. Die Rösti Beilage war fertig gekauft und in die Friteuse geworfen worden. Beim Matjes waren 2Scheiben Schwarzbrot mit 3 Matjeshälften versehen- für über 15 Euro teurer bemessen. Im netten Kaiserswerth hatte man das Gefühl „Tourinepp“- Schade! Leider aufgrund der Küche nicht mehr als mangelhaft möglich. Zum reinen Bier trinken aber gut.

Wir hatten noch gar nicht bestellt, als der Kellner uns zwei Cola brachte, die für einen anderen Tisch bestimmt war. Auch unsere zwei bestellten Essen wurden an einen anderen Tisch gebracht und dort belassen, bis das korrekte Essen diesen Gästen gebracht wurde. Dann nahm die Kellnerin einen dieser Teller und brachte ihn mir, obwohl dieser eine geraume Zeit bei einem anderen Gast stand. Nicht sehr hygienisch. Eine unnötige Diskussion, weil ich dieses Essen nicht mehr haben wollte. Kein Umgang mit Gästen und man macht sich so seine Gedanken, wie ansonsten der Umgang mit Lebensmitteln dort ist,

Great food, friendly service but sometimes a bit disorganized. Update July 2024, after four stars two years ago, now unfortunately only one. Absolute low point in terms of service. I realize that it is very difficult to recruit staff for the restaurant, but I don't spend my money on that.

Four of us had a drink there today. The cola I ordered came in a 0.2 bottle and some of it was poured into a glass. After serving, I noticed lipstick on my glass, which I immediately complained to the waiter. He took the glass with him and a short time later brought me a new glass with the same cola. So I decided to drink the rest of my cola from the bottle and leave the glass standing. Furthermore, after this incident we decided to pay immediately. During the payment process I mentioned that it probably wouldn't be right to simply pour the Coke from a dirty glass into a clean glass and serve it. Unfortunately, the waiter had no understanding whatsoever because the glass was only dirty on the outside and what should he do now? After all, I would have drunk the rest of the Coke straight from the bottle and would he now have to pay for the Coke himself? Simply an absolutely unprofessional reaction from the waiter and a total NO GO. Tonhalle Kaiserswerth a second time? No thanks.

TO FLEE! I had dinner on the terrace with 2 colleagues on a Friday evening. Restaurant serving typical German dishes. 3 vegetarian/vegan meal options including I wanted to order a Kohlrabi Schnitzel; there were no more. So out of spite I opted for the pasta with Bolognese sauce (not homemade), which was nothing exceptional. At the end of the meal we shared a (small) portion of Apfelstrudel which was nevertheless good. We were on the terrace where a Euro match was being broadcast, it was raining and cold. So I asked for a blanket from the waiter who replied curtly “no, no blanket, we don’t sleep here”. Finally comes the bill, the waiter asks us our nationality (I would point out, however, that I communicated with him in German), we respond by paying and then they ask us very aggressively “so where is the tip?! We don’t give tips in your countries?!” No, clearly in my country in France I don't give a tip to odious characters like that.

Overall a good grade. Friendly service and good food.

Great typical German restaurant, with a large outdoor area and tables inside. Very well located, easy to get to by train from the center of Düsseldorf and also great for a walk around the surroundings and in the quiet neighborhood. Also easy access for those coming by car. Prices cheaper than in the Altstadt. Well served portions. Great drinks.

Excellent service, the manager pulled the trigger for 5 stars. The shank is crispy, it looks great but the meat is dry, but you have a braised shank that is great. Salad good, Jager Art steak excellent, Wiener Art steak too. Argentinian rump steak is mediocre and quite expensive. Classic good draft beer. Overall recommendation for the restaurant. When the end of the working hours approaches, expect the not-so-pleasant comments from the waiters that the working hours are ending and they bring everything in front of you. Asparagus soup is solid, floury with a little milk but nicely seasoned. Dessert cheesecake solid and apple pie fantastic. Goulash good but nothing special.
