Hotel Schnellenburg in Düsseldorf

Top location. Good but a bit expensive. Steak was good but didn't have the desired degree of doneness.

The rooms are clean, some are a bit simple, some are a bit older, but still very attractive. The service, the food in the restaurant and the location are great!

A nice and cozy hotel with a pleasant atmosphere. Staff is extremely friendly. Delicious breakfast. The bedrooms where we stayed were dated, but extremely clean, which makes up for it. The beds were also nice! Nice showers and it is in a prime location. It is quiet here, yet centrally located. Beautiful entrance and everything in the restaurant/bar area is nicely decorated.

I stayed in the hotel for one night last Friday. I had a single room. Small, but I didn't miss anything. The price is a little higher, but you also have to consider the great location directly on the Rhine and at the trade fair. I was able to get to the event quickly on foot. The breakfast with the view was also great. Even in this weather. The staff was very friendly and there 24 hours.

Wir waren hier zu viert essen. Die Lage direkt am Rhein ist sehr schön. Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und sehr bemüht. Man hat jedoch gemerkt, dass der allgegenwärtige Personalmangel auch hier zugeschlagen hat und neben erfahrenen auch ganz frische Kräfte um Einsatz waren, was ja grundsätzlich auch absolut in Ordnung ist. So kam dann aber z.B. der Gruß aus der Küche, bevor ein einziges Getränk auf dem Tisch stand. Das Essen war reichlich, schmackhaft und wurde schnell serviert. Was uns die Stimmung jedoch etwas verdorben hat war die Tatsache, dass hier für eine Flasche Wasser 0,7l mittlerweile 9,50€(!) aufgerufen werden. Hiervon 2 Sorten, ein anderes Wasser gibt es nicht. Diesen Trend beobachten wir zunehmend, dass für ein Basis-Produkt im Cent-Bereich absolute Wucherpreise aufgerufen werden. Soll jeder sein Geld verdienen, wenn z.B. durch besondere Kochkunst mit hochwertigen Zutaten ein besonderes Geschmackserlebnis kreiert. Wenn wir aber für 300€ essen und 50€ für eine Flasche Wein zahlen werde ich nicht noch 10€ je Flasche Wasser zahlen, wofür es überhaupt keinen adäquaten Gegenwert für das Geld gibt. Daher war das auch hier erst einmal unser letzter Besuch.

We stayed in the Schnellenburg for an overnight stay before a football game. We were very surprised by our very large room with an extra bedroom and a view of the Rhine and the city. Bathroom is a bit old, shower and water pressure are good. Breakfast very good with everything you need, again with a great view, right on the Rhine. Otherwise everything was fine. Connection to the old town by bus and train is okay, you have to plan a 15 minute walk to the train, but then you go straight to the longest bar in the world. It takes 15-20 minutes to get to the Merkur Spiel Arena; the trade fair starts right outside the door.

I’ve stayed numerous times at Hotel Schnellenburg when I come for the MEDICA conference in November. The rooms are fairly standard European style rooms. A nice perk is that the minibar drinks (nonalcoholic alcohol) are included with your stay and you get a mini package of gummy bears on your bed when you check in. If you get a chance, definitely try the restaurant and ask for Selva. He has been working there for 30 years and is amazing!!! I come here at once a year and one of the highlights is to see Selva in the restaurant. Definitely ask to sit in his section whenever you can. He is wonderful!!!

A perfectly located hotel for all trade fair and congress visitors.

What to say, to say too much is not a good and beautiful place to vacation.

A beautiful, well-kept hotel, right on the Rhine, wonderful view (see photos: unedited view from one of our skylights). We were thrilled. Thank you for a very relaxing break.

We were in this hotel because we were looking for a place that makes our visit to the Arena easy. The hotel is perfect for that! Furthermore, unfortunately the hotel was very dated. For example, rooms had no air conditioning, bathroom with sanded tiles, clean but very tired. The hotel was really too expensive for what you get. High costs for the rooms, the food is tasty but way too expensive for what you get. And a high cost for a fairly standard breakfast. Despite the beautiful location along the Rhine, this has convinced us that we will certainly not come again. The price for what you get is simply too expensive!

Didn't visit the hotel, just ate delicious food

Overpriced prices. Unfriendly service when you only take a drink and an appetizer. Asked five times for the bill with no response. We then had to go to reception to pay. Definitely not recommended!!!!!

A single room - functional, water pressure a bit sparse but perfect location for the trade fair - and nice on the water - excellent cuisine - friendly service, rosé recommended. Note: The review is based on a visit to the hotel in February 2024

0.25 Füchschen Alt for 3.90 euros. Outrageous.

Katastrophe. Katastrophe wir waren zu zweit und haben mehr als 45 minuten auf die bestellung gewartet Der service war sehr unfreundlich und das essen war teuer , ohne qualität. Man wirft sein Geld in den Müll. In Deutschland habe ich noch nie so respektlose Menschen gesehen. Ich kann es niemandem empfehlen.

Hier waren wir abends zu dritt nach vorheriger Reservierung eines Tisches mit Blick auf den Rhein. Nach einem freundlichen Empfang nahmen wir Platz an unserem Tisch und genossen den einfach nur schönen Ausblick auf den Rhein. Man sitzt hier in einem ruhigen und sehr gepflegten Ambiente. Wir bestellten Getränke und wählten das Entrecote, Rinderfilet, Spargel, Sauce Bernaise, Kartoffelwedges, Möhren mit Sesam. Der Service war excellent und unaufdringlich. Jedes der Gerichte auf den Punkt gegart und einfach nur perfekt. Absolute Empfehlung, besonders für Genießer von Fleischgerichten.

Excellent food, location with character

Good location for the Düsseldorf trade fair.

Spent 3 nights there to visit a trade fair and explore Düsseldorf a little. In itself the hotel is ok and the room I got on the upper floors was great with a great view directly over the Rhine. What really pissed me off, however, was the tone of the head of the chambermaids. One day I stayed in the room to get ready, I'm standing there half dressed, a very young lady from the service comes in with a key without knocking to ask when she can enter the room and clean it, I say I'm just getting ready, so the lady leaves for now. 2 minutes later there is a vigorous knock on the door, the boss stands there and folds me up, they have to go in there immediately. Mind you, I was just putting on my pants and freshening up and shaving in the bathroom. I was of course still slightly overwhelmed by the situation and I rushed to deal with it and get out of the room when the boss was standing right outside the door gives me a snide look. I'm really used to a lot of things, but I've never encountered anything like this before. Of course the servive staff want to get things done quickly and have a workload that means they have to do it, but I've never had the experience of a boss confronting me like that and insulting me. You can say something like that in a friendly way, but you can't make a fuss about it for nothing, especially since the rooms here aren't exactly cheap either (I shelled out almost 150 euros per night). Then it is advertised that you get free Wi-Fi reception every day, unfortunately I cannot confirm this, I was only given a code for the first day that was only valid for that one day. The only friendly and courteous person was the receptionist, who upon request gave me very detailed and good information about places worth seeing in Düsseldorf. All in all (price per night overpriced, room service) I unfortunately cannot recommend the hotel and will look for other accommodation the next time I visit the trade fair.

They say: kindness is a boomerang I stayed in this hotel during a trade fair in Düsseldorf and first the positive: The location of the hotel right on the water is really great!! And when it comes to the room, I can't agree with the previous speakers, the room was clean and the beds were good. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. Disposable plastic cups are available in the room. I don't think it's up to date anymore these days. A kettle, tea/coffee and normal reusable cups could also be available in the room. The competitors are now doing this better. Speaking of contemporary: The Wi-Fi reception in the room was actually non-existent. When we asked the receptionist, we received an almost curt answer that the WiFi in the breakfast room/restaurant was bad because of the windows. I'm sorry, what??! Because of the windows?? I asked about WiFi reception in the room. When I asked again, all I got was a listless "maybe you need to restart the router." Nowadays Wi-Fi should work in a hotel. Especially in a hotel in the immediate vicinity of the trade fair, where many business travelers stay during trade fair times. In the restaurant/breakfast room, disbelieving looks were exchanged among the guests present when a guest politely asked for more cutlery for a second person. At first the only reply was a curt "there are tables with cutlery behind them." Afterwards, the service staff from the table behind loudly got cutlery to "slam" it onto the guest's table. In a restaurant (and hotel) where the prices are anything but cheap, you expect more friendliness and courtesy. That brings us to kindness and the boomerang. They say kindness is a boomerang. A boomerang returns to its sender. Unfortunately, the hotel staff threw the boomerang in such a way that it wouldn't come back. That means, at the next trade fair I might go to the hotel down the street. Then without the great location on the water, but (hopefully) with friendly staff and WiFi.

Great location by the river, nice and quiet, great for walking and jogging

Weiße Tischdecken, erfahrenes Personal, Lachs mit Rösti (beides aus der Metro?), klare Tomatensuppe und zum Hauptgericht Fleisch, Fleisch und nochmal Fleisch. Pfeffersauce oder Bernaise, Pommes, Kartoffelgratin. Zum Nachtisch wählt man zwischen Vanilleeis mit Schokosauce oder Eierlikör (sämtlich aus der Metro). Als ob Ich nochmal mit meiner verstorbenen Großmutter zum Essen ausgehe und Helmut Kohl am Nebentisch sitzt. Warum dennoch 4 Punkte? Weil man sich wohl fühlt und Platz hat. Weil die Hauptgerichte wirklich gut waren (wenn man Fleisch mag) und weil es so etwas heutzutage kaum noch gibt.

Inspired by a good dinner in a beautiful place, I decided to move to this hotel for the next trade fair. Unfortunately I was bitterly disappointed with the quality of the room. An old extremely small room with a terrible bathroom for a princely price. An absolute disgrace. The beautiful location with a good breakfast definitely can't make up for that. Never again!!

Das Haus ist ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen. Man muss schon Glück haben, ein renoviertes Zimmer zu bekommen. Kellner am Abend war sehr speziell. Dass er Umsatz machen will, ist völlig in Ordnung, aber eine so aufdringliche Verkaufsshow ist schon nah an der Belästigung. Beim Frühstück darf man nicht sensibel sein. Setzen Sie sich an den falschen Tisch, wird man schon mal wie vom Jugendherbergsvater verbal forsch zusammen gefaltet. Die dürftige Auswahl am Frühstücksbuffet gleicht den barschen Ton auch nicht aus. Der zweifelsohne geniale Ausblick auf den Rhein aus dem Restaurant und aus einigen Zimmern: Ja, der bleibt.

Super leckere Speisen und Getränke mit einem außerordentlich guten, netten und sympathischen Service. Das alles zu nicht ganz günstigen Preisen, aber jeden Cent wert.. ich komme bestimmt wieder. Aussicht auf den Rhein war zwar theoretisch da, aber im Dunkeln bringt es nichts.

Hatten dort eine Veranstaltung, allerdings außerhalb des Hotels. Es war sehr schön. Im Hotel waren wir nicht, deshalb kann ich zu den Zimmern und Service dort nichts sagen.

Wir besuchten das Restaurant im Rahmen einer Geburtstagsfeier. Optisch konnten wir uns ein Bild von diversen Speisen der Karte machen. Alles sah tadellos aus. Unsere Gerichte entsprachen unseren Vorstellungen. Das Ambiente, mit dem direkten Rheinblick, ist eine Klasse für sich. Wir waren garantiert nicht zum letzten Mal dort.

Alles perfekt, tolle Küche und aufmerksamer, freundlicher Service.

Der Anblick von außen ist nicht so toll aber innen ist das Hotel topp. Ordentliche Zimmer mit geräumigen Bad mit großer Dusche. Restaurant mit Blick auf den Rhein und Parkplatz vor der Tür
